  • Problem when rendering a report in BI Publisher deployed on Apache Tomcat

    Hello for all.
    First, I am going to tell you technical specifications about the software where I have deployed BI Publisher:
    1. OS: Windows XP SP3
    2. JDK and JRE: 1.6.0_24
    3. Apache Tomcat: 5.5.33 (Set JVM Max Memory in 768MB)
    4. BI Publisher EE: 10.1.3.4.1
    I have deployed BI Publisher on Apache Tomcat without any problem, I uploaded Report files (both XDO and RTF), and I can see the reports in XML output format, but when I try to see the reports rendered by using the rtf file I have configured, BI Publisher shows me an Error; I checked the Apache Tomcat log and the following error is reported:

    I checked that the url http://localhost:8080/xmlpserver/SubTemplates/sub-template-parameters.rtf would be accesible via Internet Explorer, and It is accesible.
    I am glad if you can tell me what could be the cause of the error.
    Thanks.

    Finally, I stop working in the implementation of BIP over Apache Tomcat; I installed OC4J 10.1.3.5.0 (standalone installation) and I deployed BIP on it.
    It seems the error I wrote in last post has been fixed, but actually I am obtaining the following error with the deployment on OC4J:

    May you know the cause of the error above?

    Both the Coldfusion admin and additonal site work fine on HTTP.
    As soon as I attempt to enable SSL websockets and install SSL certs, the Coldfusion 11 Application service will not start. I followed the steps below....
    Coldfusion 11 - Web Sockets via SSL
    The Coldfusion-error.log shows
    Jan 26, 2015 3:21:23 PM org.apache.catalina.core.AprLifecycleListener init
    INFO: The APR based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows optimal performance in production environments was not found on the java.library.path

    Do I need to install another version of Coldfusion to get around this issue or is there a download update I need to apply?
    If i reconfig the \cfusion\runtime\conf\server.xml to comment out the SSL sections it works fine.
    Any assistance welcome - I can't allow this site to made publicly available with using SSL.

    @Scott, first are you running update 3? If so, let’s clarify at the outside that, as that bug report (you point to) does indicate in the notes below it, there is a fix for a problem where this feature broke in that release.  And as it notes, you can email [email protected] to request the fix (referring to that bug), or you can wait for it to be released publicly as part of a larger set of fixes.
    If you are NOT on update 3, or you may apply the fix and find things still don’t work, I would wonder about a few things, from what you’ve described.
    First, you say that the CF service won’t start, and you offer some lines from the ColdFusion-error log. Just to be clear, those particular error messages are common and nothing to worry about. They definitely do NOT reflect any reason CF doesn’t start. But are you confirming that that time (in the log lines) is in fact the time that you had started CF, when it would not start? I’d suspect not.
    Look instead in the coldfusin-out.log. What does THAT log show at the time you try to start CF and it won’t start? You may find something else there. (And since you refer to editing the server.xml file, you may the log complains that because of an error in the XML it can’t “parse” the file. It’s worth checking.
    You say also that you have confirmed that “paths are correct in CF Admin to the cert file”. What path are you referring to? There’s no page in the CF admin that points to the CACERTS file in which the certs are stored. Do you perhaps mean on the “system info” or “settings summary” page? Even so there’s still no line in there which refers to the “cert file”.
    Instead—and this could be a part of your problem—the cert file is simply found WITHIN the directory where CF’s pointed to to find its JVM. Wherever THAT is, is where you need to put any certificates. So take a look at the CF Admin, either in the ”java and jvm” page (and the value of its “Java Virtual Machine Path”), or in the “settings summary” or “system information” pages and their value for “Java Home”. Is that something like \coldfusion11\jre? Or something like \Java\jdk1.7.0_71\jre? Whichever it is, THAT’s where you need to put the certs, within there (in its \lib\security folder).
    Finally, when you say that if you “comment out the SSL sections  it works fine”, do you mean that a) CF comes up and b) some example code calling your socket works, as long as you don’t use SSL?
    To be clear, no, you don’t need any other version of CF11 to get websockets to work. But if you are on update 3, that may be the simple problem. Let us know how it goes for you with this info.

    Tomcat 3.3.2? That's a pretty darned old version. We're up to 5.0.x now. Time for an upgrade?
    Yes, that's a CLASSPATH problem, because the TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib/servlet.jar should certainly be in the CLASSPATH. How are you running Tomcat? Do you use the startup.bat script, or is it installed to run as a daemon service? If it's the former, make sure the servlet.jar is in the script CLASSPATH. If it's the latter, make sure servlet.jar, bootstrap.jar, and tools.jar are added to the -D parameter java.class.path.

  • Io Exception connecting to Oracle from apache-tomcat-6.0.14 - weird problem

    Hi all,
    I'm in a desperate situation here. Trying to solve this problem for a week now. I have searched all over the internet but coul not find any solution. I developed an application using netbeans 5.5.1 with VWD pack and it works fine. The application accesses an oracle db on another server which works fine on my development machine. Now I deployed to oracle 9i and apache-tomcat-6.0.14 on a solaris machine and encountered this error :
    java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    on further troubleshooting I tried this code on the server.
    java.sql.DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    java.sql.Connection conn = java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@servername:1521:sid", "username", "pswd");
    and it works alright. The connection was established wothout error.
    But when I try
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver").newInstance();
    javax.naming.Context init new javax.naming.Context();
    javax.naming.Context ctx = (javax.naming.Context)init.lookup("java:comp/env");
    javax.sql.DataSource ds = (javax.sql.DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/dataSource");
    java.sql.Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
    I still get the same io Exception error.
    Now I need to fetch the values from the context file, because my application uses :-
    CachedRowSetXImpl portal_tabsRowSet= new CachedRowSetXImpl();
    CachedRowSetDataProvider portal_tabsDataProvider= new CachedRowSetDataProvider();
    as follows :-
    portal_tabsRowSet.setDataSourceName("java:comp/env/jdbc/dataSource");
    portal_tabsRowSet.setCommand("SELECT * FROM PORTAL_TABS");
    portal_tabsRowSet.setTableName("PORTAL_TABS");
    portal_tabsDataProvider.setCachedRowSet((javax.sql.rowset.CachedRowSet)getValue("#{SessionBean1.portal_tabsRowSet}"));
    here is my context.xml

    Please help!

    I haven't studied your problem in detail and don't actually use Tomcat 6, but in earlier versions of Tomcat the handling of JNDI leaves a lot to be desired. If you search this forum for posts about Tomcat and JNDI, you will find some useful information.
    One thing I found was that you really need to use the context.xml file in your Meta-inf directory, putting the datasource anywhere else gets into one kind of trouble or another. I tried using server.xml, a context file for the application and the web-inf file.

  • How to install apache tomcat in nebeans

    hello everyone,
    i am not able to configure apache tomcat in my netbeans.
    i am little bit confuse between apache tomcat and glassfish servers. can any one tell where we glassfish and where we use apache tomcat?

    Tomcat is a 'servlet engine'; put as simple as I can make it, it is a Java webserver. You can create web applications based on servlets & JSPs and run them on Tomcat.
    Glassfish is an Java Enterprise (JEE) server and provides an implementation for the full Java Enterprise Edition specification. This also includes servlets & JSPs, but on top of that you get a whole batch of additional services.
    I would start with Tomcat if I were you. You don't need to configure anything, if you download the proper Netbeans bundle it comes with Tomcat 7 already setup. If that is not the case, you either picked the wrong bundle or you made wrong decisions during installation.
    edit:
    Question for you. Do you know anything about Java at all (since you are posting this in new to java)? If not then you are waaaaaaaay out of your league trying to get into web programming, it is complicated and confusing enough if you know Java, it is near impossible to understand if you don't even know the basics of the basics yet.

  • Apache/Tomcat Access denied????

    hello.
    I am trying3 to run. Apache 1.3.26 and tomcat 4.0 together on Windows 2000 Pro and have had no luck. I configured the httpd.conf file with these statements and the corresponding files are in the correct directories
    <statements>
    # Load mod_jk
    LoadModule jk_module libexec/mod_jk.dll
    # Configure mod_jk
    JkWorkersFile c:/apache-tomcat-4.0/conf/jk/workers.properties
    JkLogFile c:/apache-tomcat-4.0/logs/mod_jk.log
    JkLogLevel info
    Include c:\apache-tomcat-4.0\conf\auto\mod_jk.conf
    </statements>
    now when I start up Apache.(I use a console to start it.) It tells me that Apache 1.3.26 and mod_jk1.1.0 are both running. But.... if I go to the url http://localhost/examples/jsp. I get a page not found error. Same for the http://localhost:8080(page not found). So I went to the services manager, and I tried to run the service from there and it gave me an access denied prompt. I tried the startup.bat and that didn't work either. Plus I did a reboot and did the steps in reverse order, no luck there eithr.
    Anyone ever had this problem , anyone know what it is. Any help would be appreciated.
    Brian

    Okay I have woked it down that I need to tag some properties or conf file but I need to know which file. I saw somthing about using <ApacheConfig path="<MOD_JK_Home>"> but where would I set this tag.

  • Urgent: Why org.apache.tomcat.* package does not exist?

    i am writing some programs about ldap
    my program code has used some packages as the followings
    import org.apache.tomcat.core.*;
    import org.apache.tomcat.util.*;
    import org.apache.tomcat.util.xml.*;
    i am using apache + tomcat4.1 server, jsdk1.4
    i have set the classpath that contains all the jar files in $TOMCAT_HOME\common\lib
    after setting the classpath, i compiled the code
    it said the above packages does not exist
    where should i find those packages?
    Aren't they in the tomcat i installed?
    PLX HELP

    for example, i want to use the class
    org.apache.tomcat.core.Context to create a class
    object.Then you would want to:
    import org.apache.tomcat.core.Context;
    -or-
    import org.apache.tomcat.core.*;
    Note how that is different than your original:
    import org.apache.tomcat.*;i just use as an example import org.apache.tomcat
    but i cannot find org.apache.tomcat.core or even any org.apache.tomcat.*
    so that means i havn't include the correct jar file in the classpath or no corresponding package are stored in the tomcat4.1
    i just want to know what jar file contains such stuff.
    i think it should be a silly problem. So there should be someone know it.

  • Policy agent fot apache tomcat opensso

    Hi,
    I am looking for policy agent fot apache tomcat opensso 8 u2. Can anyone post the url for the same

    Go to https://edelivery.oracle.com and go to Sun Products Media Pack for Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
    There you will find OpenSSO Policy Agents 3.0 which includes the tomcat agent. Don't worry about the hardware platform or OS, the tomcat agent is pure java so it doesn't matter.

  • OAS and Apache Tomcat on same machine

    Hi guys,
    I have a server for "Business objects XI/MS SQL server" which uses Apache TomCat 5.
    I want to install RDBMS 10g and Oracle Application server on this machine. Is there any conflict possible?
    What measures I may take to keep both applications running on same machine.?
    thnks in advance

    Besides the obvious things like memory and CPU (load), just make sure that you don't get any port conflicts and you will be ok. (at least, you will be on unix. I don't know much about Windows, so can't help you with that one).

  • How to run different versions of Apache Tomcat on one machine?

    Hi, I am developing a web application. My application runs on Apache Tomcat 5.5.12 and i am using jdk 1.5_03. My application detects files that are automatically scanned to a specific directory and queues them for capture in a database.
    The scanner software (HP Toolbox) is also a web application (Unfortunately), it installs itself with Apache Tomcat 4.03. It is "wired" in a specialised way (not the way you would usually deploy web apps). So the Web server is customised by HP (Hewlett-Packard).
    The scanner needs this software running inorder to automatically scan to a specified folder. You can only specify local directories to scan to from the Toolbox application
    There seems to be some resource conflict when I run my version of Tomcat when the Toolbox application is running (I get an exception
    ..IllegalMonitorState...current thread not owner). Visa vera is alos true..if i start my application first the Toolbox application won't run.
    I tried to install the Toolbox app on another machine and monitor a directory remotely...this doesn't work because you can't read or write to remote files from a servlet or JSP.
    I tried loading my application in the web apps directory of Apache 4.03 but it did not detect my application. I don't know how to configure the Tomcat customised by HP.
    How can i go about this problem? Is there a way of running two versions of Apache Tomcat on one machine?
    Thanks

  • Trouble to access one website (HTTP Status 500) and to find Apache Tomcat/6.0.20 logs

    Hi to you all!
    It is impossible for me to access one website only for a couple of days, the Yell.com UK phone directory. I asked them to help me with this trouble, but one of the technicians answered «I have had no problems in accessing Yell.com online here and neither have my colleagues. There may have been a temporary bug with the system, but all is fine now. If you are still experiencing problems, I would suggest that it is an issue with your system.»
    It does not help because the trouble persists, whatever the solution I tried to find (clearing history and cache, bookmarking anew, changing slightly the URL). When trying to access to their website, it says:
    «HTTP Status 500 -
    «type Exception report
    «message
    «description The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.
    «exception
    «… (Here are 13 lines about javax.servlet, com.yell.ucs.responder, org.apache.struts.action and 50 lines under achapter titled “root cause”) — then:
    «note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/6.0.20 logs.
    «Apache Tomcat/6.0.20»
    QUESTIONS —
    1. I have access without any problem to Yell.com with the Safari (after having selected “Safari browser”), but there is no result with Firefox with the Safari browser! How is this possible?
    2. I don't understand anything about what the “Apache Tomcat/6.0.20” - Error report means…
    3. What and where can I find the “Apache Tomcat/6.0.20 logs” on a Mac OS X 10.4 and how can this be solved?
    Many thanks forward for your help (please use ordinary words, I don't understand anything about computer and Web things).
    Cordially

    Now, some goblin somewhere put things right and this Yell.com works again, ''without doing anything''… Hope it'll keep on going like this!

  • 11G- Apache Tomcat support

    Good morning,
    I have been building a new ADF application, and am trying to deploy it now. I got to correctly deploy to a Oracle WebLogic Server installed on my machine.
    Ran into many problems when trying to get it to deploy to an Apache Tomcat 6 server, which is how our production environment is set up.
    In searching for help I ran across: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/11/as_supportmatrix.html
    This matrix seems to indicate that if I want to run our application I'll need to downgrade to JDeveloper 10g and Tomcat 5?
    Does anyone know if official support for Tomcat is in the works for 11G, and when it might be implemented?
    I see the thread: limitations of JDeveloper 11g ADF applications on Tomcat has some details... perhaps there is not a better answer available? But I would really like to know because if support is coming in the next 6 months, then we can probably just wait. Otherwise I guess we'll need to use 10G.
    Thanks,
    Jeff Sumner

    Jeff,
    There's been a good deal of discussion on this recently. Tomcat 6 used to be on that list, but it isn't anymore. Dana Singletary (on his blog) and others on this forum have gotten it set up and working. Jan Vervecken asked the other day about the significance that Tomcat 6 is not on the list today - I don't believe there was any response from Oracle.
    Sorry for the non-information, but that's what is out there publically at the moment.

    I am providing the info below..just to add to your knowledge.
    You can also administer your Tomcat using the URL
    http://localhost:8080/admin
    Here you will be prompted for a username and password.
    To have the right to administer cd to %CATALINA_HOME%\conf
    Look for tomcat-user.xml file.
    Modify it as below:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <tomcat-users>
    <role rolename="admin"/>
    <role rolename="user"/>
    <role rolename="tomcat"/>
