About Apple Final Cut Studio 3 HD Full Retail?

I'm Bidding on ebay.com on Apple Final Cut Studio 3 HD Full Retail & I Wanted to know how many CD's are in Apple Final Cut Studio 3 HD is this a long Continuing Process to Install?

There is no such thing as Final Cut Studio 3 HD.
I believe the official name is Final Cut Studio 2009. The HD has not been included since FCP 4.5 and only referred to FCP.
Make sure you know what you are getting. Someone here recently was sold FCP 5.0 as the latest version of Final Cut Studio on eBay.
As to the number of discs, there are a lot, but the best install procedure is to make DMG backups of your DVDs, mount them all at once, and install. Takes about 20 minutes once you've made the DMGs.

  • Integration of Apple Final Cut Studio with 3D Animation Programmes

    Dear all,
I would like to know which 3D Animation programmes for Macintosh have the ability to integrate with Apple Final Cut Studio 2 or vice versa. It's very important to design a 3D model with camera animation and import the scene -AS IS- into Motion or Shake.
    - Which are the best practises followed?
    - Which method appears to be more professional?
All responses are more than welcome.
    Thank you in advance,
    Lazaro

Apple uses nothing more than Quicktime/Compressor to encode those videos. Compressor that comes with Final Cut Pro give a little more control to the video footage to ensure better quality. But, Compressor doesn't add to the quality of h.264 encoding. Compressor uses the same setup as Quicktime Pro.
And even if they use hardware base equipment to encode these videos. It's only for the fast encoding that hardware encoders can give you. I read something on the internet a few months back from the guy who encodes these videos for Apple. He stated that he uses Compressor and Quicktime for the encoding.
Here is the answer to why these video look amazing. Not only these videos, Apple also encodes the movie trailers on their site. The secret is, they are given the best and I mean best quality originals to start with... Videos shot on $25,000-$100,000+ cameras. And the trailer footage given to them by the movie companies are hi-end transfers from film.
We could sit here and debate on what Apple actually does to encode these video. But the bottom line is to start by using the best footage you can obtain. And then go from there...

  • Upgrading från Final Cut Studio 5.1 retail - which upgrade should I buy?

Some year ago I opted for the fulfil upgrade to the cross-platform version.
Now I have the package Final Cut Studio 5.1 retail, with serial numbers. It has DVDSP4, FCP, Motion, LiveType, SoundTrack Pro, etc.
There are two different upgrade packages to Final Cut Studio 2.
One costs 499, the other 699. Which one should I buy?

Yeah, I thought so too. But better safe than sorry and ask here first.
    Thank you!

  • Final cut studio 2 HD retail vs upgrade

I purchased final cut studio 2 HD at an auction in a large lot of misc software and I was wondering if theres a way to tell the difference between the full retail version and the upgrade version without opening the box? Thanks.

An upgrade version would normally say so on the outside of the box.
On the bottom of the box there should be a sticker with an MA number.
The full version would be   MA886Z/A
An upgrade version could be  MA887Z/A  or MA888Z/A.
    Hope this helps.

  • In Thailand and thinking about ordering Final Cut Studio 5.1 NEED ADVICE

I own a 2006 Power Book G4 notebook. The computer has a 1.5 GHz processor, 1.25 GBDDR SDRAM memory, and 80GB HD. I have enjoyed using iMovie but am ready to give my podcasts a more profesional look. Can my computer operate Final Cut Studio 5.1? If it can not is there an older version that would work?
    Thanks you,

    Power Book G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   processor 1.5 GHz memory 1.25 hardrive 80GB

your powerbook may not be the latest and greatest but it is certainly good enough. version 5.1 is "universal" meaning it will work on both PPC macs (like yours) and the newer intel based macs. go for it.

  • Quicktime Movies posted on the Apple Final Cut Studio - In Action Website

I have been working with multiple movie formats for the web with varying levels of quality and speed. It's a big trade-off. The best I've found is to use Flash Video (FLV) but the files can't have the quality to get the speed and visa versa.
The other day, I came across the videos on the Apple Website (below) and I'm truly amazed. But, I can't figure out how you guys at Apple managed to make such high resolution videos play so well!
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/in-action/
So, I noted the files are 640 x 360, are Quicktime, use H.264, AAC, 2 Channel, Millions of colors, 44100 Hz, 23.98 FPS (about 24 Frames/sec???), 1584 kbit/sec data rate, and ended up with a file only 35.5 MBytes in size!
My web sites are using Joomla and I really like the way you use a "pop-up" Quicktime player from your website but I can't figure out: 1) what is the QT player? 2) how do you get it to "pop-up"? and 3) How do you keep such great speed and resolution?
I've been using Final Cut Express, FFMPEGX, QT PRO, Snow Leopard, and numerous other conversion programs to give me as much flexibility as possible.
Please help me (and others) to get these amazing results!

  • About new Final Cut Studio

    Hi everybody!
Does anyone know if Final Cut Pro 7 will use OpenCL with Snow Leopard?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nicola

However, we won't REALLY know until Snow ships, we've figured out if we need new cards, and there might be some incremental updates. No one knows for sure where Intel and Snow Leopard are going to take us although the Mac rumor sites are replete with useless speculation.

  • Where can I find Final Cut Studio retail?

As a graduate of Media hoping to get into the industry as an editor, I find myself in the difficult position of trying to find a retail copy of Final Cut Studio. Every retailer I've searched no longer stocks the software. I'm worried that I may not be able to get hold of a copy and will be forced to download Final Cut Pro X, despite the fact it has recieved terrible reviews and would rather get the older, better software.
Has Apple phased Studio out of retail because if they have, that's not something I wanted to hear.

In the technology world, especially in the world of video with an ever increasing number of codecs being introduced each year, it would be a reasonable assumption that software that's already two years old (FCP 7) and will never be developed or updated in any way, will only be good for about two to four years.  And that's assuming that you have access to the hardware that supports the older software.  It's my personal prediction that Apple will drop the MacPro line of desktops within the next couple of years.  With their move to iOS and consumer gadgets and software, coupled with the fact that it is generally the video and audio professionals that use beefy desktop system, and the fact that Apple is clearly shifted its focus away from the professional crowd, what will you do when you need new or replacement hardware to run this old, EOL software on and Apple has nothing to offer?
Since you're just starting out, my advice to you would be to start learning actual professional editing software and I'd further strongly suggest that you do that on a different platform than a Mac.  If you can find FCS 3 and have a decent system to run it on, great; you can use that as well.  But I'd plan for an Apple-free future if you want to make a living in video post-production.
I don't make these statements lightly; after all these years using Apple products, I find it's just a sad fact.

  • About Final Cut Studio?

In Apple Final Cut Studio are you able to create Blends & Avatars in Apple Final Cut Studio, like if I Had a Picture of Britney Spears or Jennifer Lopez, I Can create a Blend & Avatar if I Had a Picture of them I Saved on the Internet? Can I Do that in Apple Final Cut Studio? just asking cause I Mite be getting it, Maybe?

Ok, this is Photoshop Elements (make sure it's a Mac version if you buy it on ebay):
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopel/?promoid=DJDWS
It is very inexpensive. Also make sure you get the latest version so it'll work on your 10.6.5.
Final Cut Studio is a video editing software - you edit movies, not pictures. So I don't think you can do what you want in creating an Avatar. As for blend, you'd probably need one of the more expensive Photoshop versions.
So, Final Cut Studio is for movies and Photoshop is for pictures or photos.
I just checked the recent prices for Final Cut Studio on ebay and the latest version has been selling for more than $500; the cheaper ones are either old versions (which will probably not run on your 10.6.5) or upgrades. For an upgrade, you need to have an older version already installed. Here is what the new FCS includes:

    eBay heavily "overprotects" copyright owners.
The BSA is hired by Apple to look out for copyright violations. They simply go after everything without any investigation. eBay plays along and so you are the one with the problem to do something completely lega.
Here is the relevant section of FCS's SLA:
    3. Transfer. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute or sublicense the Apple Software. You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the Apple Software to another party, provided that: (a) the transfer must include all of the Apple Software, including all its component parts, original media, printed materials and this License; (b) you do not retain any copies of the Apple Software, full or partial, including copies stored on a computer or other storage device; and (c) the party receiving the Apple Software reads and agrees to accept the terms and conditions of this License. All components of the Apple Software are provided as part of a bundle and may not be separated from the bundle and distributed as standalone applications.
This means that you are allowed to sell the package if you are the original owner of the software.

  • If i buy final cut studio 2 and then get final cut studio 3 upgrade will it be final cut studio 3

ive been looking around to buy final cut studio 3 for weeks now with no success and i think ive found a solution i'm just wondering if it will work by buying final cut studio 2 full and then buying final cut studio 3 upgrade overall will everything be final cut studio 3?

You can still get the FCS3 upgrades from the apple shop
No you can not get FCS upgrades from Apple retail stores or Apple dealers, they have been recalled by Apple.
Only places that will stock is independant retailers and online used software vendors.
Apple have clearly stated that FCS is now ''end of life''

  • Final Cut Express 4 or Final Cut Studio??

I am currently having to burn DVDs for a new company named Astramedia.
We are getting our Videos from suppliers in the HDV format as a .mov file. (More details at the end) These files were exported using Apples Final Cut Studio. Now we want to use these Video files for DVD burning. The DVDs should be in high quality, in 16:9, and with Intro and Menu. My question is do I need to by Apple Final Cut Studio for the Compressor and the DVD Studio Pro programm or is it sufficient enough to use Final Cut Express 4 to export the HDV files and use iDVD to burn the DVDs?

FCE cannot use native HDV files.
You would have to convert them first to one of the FCE friendly codecs then edit and pipe into iDVD.
You will get a pretty good result.
Compressor and DVDSPro will raise the bar of course but a lot more knowledge is involved in proper use of these programs.

  • Any final cut studio 2 discounts?

about a year or more ago, fcp offered a big-time discount deal (minus the manuals) to upgrade to Apple Final Cut Studio 5.1.4.
does anyone know if there such a deal to upgrade to fcp 2 now? i think the current upgrade price
    is $99.
    thanks

about a year or more ago, fcp offered a big-time discount deal (minus the manuals) to upgrade to Apple Final Cut Studio 5.1.4.
The special offer you're referring to was Apple's one-time deal to 'crossgrade' to the universal version (FCP 5.1) - so called due to the fact that it was compatible with the PPC chipped Macs as well as their brand new (at the time) IntelMacs.
Unless Apple makes a major change in processors again, I would NOT expect to see that kind of special offer repeated.

  • Final Cut Studio uninstall

I just received my Final Cut Studio cross-grade from Motion2. I really want to get it installed, but I'm in the middle of a large 3d project using Lightwave, so I'm a little nervous about installing Final Cut Studio. Is there an easy way to uninstall it should it cause a problem with Lightwave?

Yes, you can uninstall it, but I would realllllly recommend waiting until you're finished with your large project before you make any drastic changes on your system. To me, it's just asking for trouble.
If you absolutely need to install it and then discover you have to uninstall, there are several files you need to get rid of, in various places on your system drive. You can find a list of them in the Apple support section of their site, and I do believe another kind poster listed them out a couple of weeks back here in the forum. You can probably find it in a search.
It's a simple process, but I've found sometimes that when I run into conflicts from installing something new, the fix isn't always as simple as uninstalling the culprit. Sometimes files are overwritten and things are changed that really need to be researched in order to get everything up and running smoothly again. So that's why I'd say wait until your big project is finished if you can. Blah blah yadda blah, hope this helps.
    Joni
