About ATG RUP 7 Restore

Hi all,
EBS 11.5.10.2, DB 9.2.0.8 on AIX 5.3.
Last weekend I applied ATG RUP 7 with all its prerequisites and patches mentioned in known issues. Currently we have a very serious problem which is affecting us very badly. All of our pdf reports give signal 4 error. I have logged an SR and consulted for DBA help but we are not nearing any solution. Since weekend so much thing has changed in database, so my question is can I return from backup of ONLY APPLICATIONS I took before I began any prerequisites of ATG 7? The database won't be restored, only applications. I know this is a weird question but we are very desperate right now.
The answer is probably NO since I think tables and data are affected by patches, but anyway I need to hear it. Also how long and hard would it be to revert all those patches to the beginning or until the error stops?

Is it with custom or seeded concurrent programs? What is the type of the reports that fail to run (text, postscript, pdf, xml, ..etc)?
What is the complete error message? Please post the concurrent request log file here.
Can you find any errors in the CM/Database log files?
Do you have any invalid objects in the database?
Have you relinked all the executable files via adadmin?
Have you applied all the patches in (Known Issues On Top of 11i.ATG_PF.H.delta.7 (RUP7) - 6241631 [ID 858801.1]) after applying ATG RUP7?
The answer is probably NO since I think tables and data are affected by patches, but anyway I need to hear it. Also how long and hard would it be to revert all those patches to the beginning or until the error stops?As you already know the answer, this is not supported as your application patch level will not match the database patch level. There is also no supported way to rollback the application patches except restoring ALL the database/application files from the backup which was taken before you applied those patches.

With our complex apps env. with staged APPL_TOP approach the downtime requirement will be reduced to half.

Finally my the question is that : Do they mean AD PATCHSET level or the consolidated / DELTAS released on top of AD.I ?

Staged APPL_TOP can be used to apply maintenance packs, so ideally you should be able to use it to apply ATG RUP 6. For the AD minipack, you should apply patch (5161676) - 11i.AD.I.5 as a pre-req. patch before you apply ATG RUP 6.

we have tried to adding $APPLRGF(whole patch) to PRL5LIB path. We are getting the above error during the pre-requisites Why to add $APPLRGF? Is there something about this environment variable mentioned in the patch document? Source the env file should be enough.

When tryng to open the login page, its trying for long time and ending in internal server error and could see below error in the jvm logs..

Checked the last 2 notes and the patch we already applied and other one is for R12.
Yet to check the first note in detail.....
Meanwhile i see a bug 8945245 which has the same issue as we have and it seems to be fixed, but not able to get any details from that bug. Any idea on what would be the fix mentioned in the bug.....

About what is restored in an app

So today I accidentally clicked on a link on FB that has malware (I know the site already and know that it's dangerous) I immediately pressed on the back button on the left of the top screen and then went back to my home page on FB. I heard that files are restored in apps, sandbox thing. So the address of the site and the files in it are restored in my Facebook app? What to do?

There is no malware that can affect an iOS device that has not been jailbroken.

How FF can become smarter about implementing Session Restore

FF needs to become "smarter" about Restoring. Only do a chunk of say 10 tabs at a time, and improve the error recognition & handling so it doesn't just spin forever. Sometimes it doesn't even show the spinner; just won't respond & Activity Monitor says its Not Responding. Can't tell if the Not Responding is due to an active but CPU stealing process that is proceeding, or a stuck process where I should Force Quit. Just have to let it go for 10 minutes before Force Quit.
Restore needs to have a popup window that tells me exactly what tab it is actively Restoring at the moment, and a timer showing how long it was been working on that Tab. And I need to be able to tell FF how long to try before abandoning that Tab. I need to be able to tell it to abandon that tab sooner via a click button. Abandoned tabs go into a menu for me to mess around with later.
Noticed that mozilla.org is often "on top" when FF hangs up. And just now, navigating from the main mozilla page to here (3 layers deep?) I had to wait 5-10 seconds for each page to load. Is the mozilla server just underpowered for the amount of traffic, or what?

About backing up / restoring Arch

My Arch X86_64 is installed onto a SSD, it's about 3 years old and I'm just moved to the mix systemd / sysV
My purpose is to refresh the perf of the SSD with a secure erase (hdparm), however I don't feel like reinstalling the whole Arch.
So I'm thinking about 2 solutions :
1- tar of the whole root fs; refresh SSD ; untar the root fs (included /etc)
2- tar /etc "only" ; brand new Arch install ; untar /etc
( btw, /home is on another HDD )
3- a better way to save and restore all my Arch parameters ?

I'm not familiar with rsync but it looks like a way to handle my backup
I did once a plain backup using tar (none compress) starting from root + usr + lib + home + etc and even dev, excluding off course proc sys. The resulting big tar file was stored into HDD
Then I did a secure erase the SSD with Arch boot CD, with which I also re-parted aligned FS of the SSD
I then just had to untar backup from the mounted HDD
This has worked like a charm especially with a SSD with which I don't think it is good to use any dd command
However, taking into consideration the Time it requires to backup / restore vs install Arch from scratch with brand new features WELL installed. ie Systemd : I wonder if having just a tiny etc directory and some others parameters are not enough ?

Performance issue after application of patch ATG RUP 7

Dear Friends,
my env is Solaris SPARC 10 with 11.5.10.2 (10.2.0.4). I had applied upgraded developer 6i to 6.0.28 and applied ATG RUP7 patch last night and ever since the performance of the application is mighty slow. The concurrent programs take longer to run. The forms takes too much time to load(more than twice the time it used to than before). I can always see a load on the server level. I tried Gathering SCHEMA statistics for all users and its been running for the past 10 hours now. Could someone point me in the right direction as to what could have gone wrong. All the pre-req patches and post req patches have been applied as per the various docs.

A Little More about the Factory Restore....

I'm fairly certain that someone else has posted this note about performing a factory restore on the X if it's not acting right.

My phone updated without any problems other than the speed dial issue that has been well-documented. And I've looked at my text messages high and low and I swear, I CANNOT find any thing out of date or off-time. I have nothing to lose by claiming this, so if you think I'm lying, flame away.
Anyway, I'm getting off of the original point of this post. The link I'm providing points to a page that describes how to do the factory reset without the phone automatically restoring the original data and setting that might be causing some problems. I had no reason at all to think that my X wasn't working as fast as it was supposed to and I rocked along for a week, thinking it was fine. However, I ran across this post in my geekboy reading travels across the internet. I got curious and tried the reset, following the procedure as outlined in this post. And yes, it is indeed an improvement in performance. I'm anxious to see how it does over the next couple of days with regard to battery life, but for the last hour, I've been playing with it and it works even snappier and livelier than it did before I did the post-update reset today. And battery life had shown some improvement before this reset, so I dount I'll see much difference there.
As I said, I've seen this procedure posted already around here somewhere, probably more than once. Wildman, perhaps? At any rate, I do with they would make a sticky out this information as it might be helpful (notice the emphasis on "MIGHT") to someone having trouble. If you are an X owner with problems and you are also a rocket scientist or you've written software that cures cancer or feeds the hungry, then this might not be of interest to you and I'm sorry you wasted your time. People like me (that don't work for Verizon, by the way) throw these little nuggets out in hopes that they will be of some help. If not, well, we tried.

Yes. You can initiate the factory restore operation and simply let it do the job without any Intervention on your part. Before you perform the restore, check under "settings/privacy" and make sure that "back up my data" and "restore automatically" are checked (i think they are checked by default, just make sure). This will insure that your apps and data are stored on Google's servers. Your contacts should be set to sync with your gmail account, so they are backed up regardless of how you restore the phone.
Having said all of this, the reason we restore the phone is sometimes due to some app or data that's causing a problem. That's why the long restore procedure that I outlined above comes in handy. The slate is literally wiped clean, instead of restoring, then everything is automatically restored, good data and bad.

Any ideas about how to restore old appearance on my iPhone? I just updated to IOS7 and really dislike the new appearance. I have to log on to see percentage of power used since I can't see it on my opening screen. I also want the gray folders back.

I now have to unlock my phone to be able to check my battery level because my screensaver has a light color in the upper corner and I can't read the text. I want the gray panel back.

My system slows down in very little time so I run Disk Utility and repair permissions at least daily. What is going wrong and what can I do about it?

Thanks for giving me something to look for. For reasons mysterious to me my system has not slowed down since Saturday. That reading was in the morning with Chrome, Entourage and Word running but shortly after I logged in. The system had been on overnight but not in use. The next time it slows down I will check Activity Monitor and look for Page outs vs Page ins and let you know. Thanks so much for your help. About incremental backup/restore

I current have 6 master nodes with about 150G data, and I want to migrate them to a new store with 2 master nodes. My plan is:
(1) take a snapshot online and load the .jdb files to new store, which may takes a really long time.
(2) stop the online application and take another snapshot.
(3) rsync the .jdb files to new server and ONLY load the changed ones (compare with step 1) to the new store instead of loading them all again.
is that ok?

You should not try to change the store topology in this fashion. You should instead migrate from old to new by moving K/V pairs (records).

Apple ipad shuts down when about to start restore

ok , my ipad crashed it was stuck on the apple logo now im trying to restore it , when i restore it goes to the step were it says "waiting for ipad" and on the ipad it has the apple logo and a loading bar(empty) a few seconds after my i pad just shuts off by it self disconecting from itunes and he the error (9) i tried it with different computers stil dont work.

mmmmmm. thought apple was better with customer support...
