About Audigy 2 ZS

Hello people , I just got my fresh installation of Windows Vista Ultimate and I'm the owner of a Soundblaster 2 ZS.
After installing my Creative Drivers (The ones in the Installation CD) I had some sound problems (the sound would distort after some time).
I downloaded Windows Vista Drivers for ZS2 and it seemed to solve the problem , still though I have trouble with the programs included in creative folder , when I run the diagnostics tool it says it hasnt detected the sound card , still though I can view it on My Devices (my computer)
I would appreciate some feedback on how to deal with this issue.
Thank you in advance .

The inputs are easy to find and select:?
Right-click the Mixer icon on the taskbar and select "Playback Devices".<
There should open a new Window with the options of "Speakers" and "SPDIF"<
With Speakers highlighted click the?"Properties" button on the lower?right corner<
Go to the 4th tab (I believe it is "volume" in english, "Pegel" in german)<
There you have your inputs!<
Unmute Line-In and set its volume according to your desires.<
Also remember that software designed for XP, that should control the Line-IN settings, (ie. Hauppauge WinTV or Dscaler) will be unable to do so in Vista, do to the architecture change. You can however enable "Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP2" for these applications (right-click on their executable) and restore control of the inputs directly from the program. (You should however unmute it first as explained above). PS:? All Creative Software that came on the CD is incompatible to Vista. Only the included Audio Console should work as expected.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 05-07-200707:3 PM

  • Enquiry about audigy 4 [NON-PRO] & audigy 2

Hi, I would like to make an enquiry about a few creative products.
I am currently intrested in getting a T7900 speaker system.
However i have doubts on the soundcard that i should get.
Could anyone identify the difference with a Audigy 4 [NON-Pro] and a Audigy 2 ZS.
I couldn't find any through comparison on these 2 products in the whole creative website.
And also, is the T7900 7. speaker system compatible with either of the 2 audigy sound cards.
Which card would you recommand me to go for too.
Thanks in advance. =)Message Edited by kutysam on 02-8-200603:48 AM

Well im feeling lazy ATM so I have no technical data to pass on. I would say thought the differents are :
: Price,, hmm get which is cheaper
2: The Audigy 4 would have ( at a guess anyway?)?more settings/tools and banks for media creation and the like.
Other than that, not a great deal between them. As far as games go, they both do the very same thing and with DVD movies they would produce the same rates as with music.
Id say, get the ZS if your into games and DVDs+music, or get the A 4 for the same reasons + Media creation/mixing and stuff like that.
Like I said, to lazy to research it further but close enough

  • Questions about Audigy 2 ZS connecti

    Hello,
New to these forums, so bear with me. I'm considering purchasing an Audigy 2 ZS gamer card, and have some questions about the card and speaker setup. I've read the FAQ's in the forum, and they have been a big help, but I still have questions related specifically to my setup. Here's the system specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    Asus K8V SE Deluxe
    VisionTek Radeon X800 XT PE
    Seagate 250 gig SATA HDD
    gig Crucial ram
    Antec P80 case
    Antec TruePower 430 ps
Altec Lansing ADA885 digital speakers (awesome sound)
Altec Lansing headset (cheap but works for voice and gaming)
    ADI AD980 onboard sound
    Windows XP Home
. I currently am able to run both the speakers and headset at the same time by using the front panel audio outlets on the case (helps with the immersion in IL2 946). I would like to continue doing this(using front panel audio) with the new card. I've found several places that have an adapter cable for sale, http://www.x-tap.com/
    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=2700

The plug that I have has only 3 separators, not 4. Will this work with the Audigy 2? I don't have a link for this plug, unfortunately.
    4. I had been considering purchasing? a set of USB headphones, but I've been told that when you plug them in, the sound is cut off for the speakers. If there was a workaround for this, I might consider getting them. Then I wouldn't have to use the front panel audio or the connections on the card.
    5. I've heard of an issue with this particular set of speakers and the Audigy 2 card, particularly that the speakers were originally designed for a Dell system, and the wiring was phased differently than in other systems. Is this something to be concerned with, and if so, is there a workaround?
I like to research a particular product before I buy it, in order to make an informed decision and avoid problems if possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't
Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Question about Audigy 2 ZS/Toslink Connect

    I bought one if these...
    http://www.buyextras.com/optotoop3mip.html
so the I could use toslink with the digital out to hook up to my 5. stereo receiver. But it's not working. I was never totally sure if toslink even works with Audigy 2 because the instruction only talk about DIN and Coaxial connections. Does toslink even work? I am SOL? or do I just have it hooked up wrong? Please help.

You have the wrong type of adaptor/cable. The digital out of the sound card is a minijack electrical type and not of a optical type. That's way it will not work,

  • Question about Audigy sound card

Hi everyone, right now i have a very outdated sound card, a creative li've 6 bit. It sucks i'm not going to lie. But anyways, i have my home theatre system hooked up into it through a Y splitter cable so that i can hook the rca cables into the /8 slot in the sound card.
If i turn up the speakers really loud, i hear a static noise, a hum and fuzz if you will. The music usually drowns it out but then if the music stops i'm left with an awful hum. I am for sure upgrading to the Audigy Extreme, and i'm wondering if that would have any affect? I know the sound of the actual movie or song will be way better, but how about that hum?
    Hopefully you all can help!
    thanks so much!

    sprint_9,
Yes, you're right. The Digital I/O module isn't compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
You should be able to find a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable easily from your local audio/electronic stores if not, you can also get a 3.5mm stereo to dual RCA cable for the same purpose. Take note, only one end of the RCA cable has the audio signal(Sorry, can't remember whether it's the white or the red end).
You can also find such cable from online stores like this.

  • Confused about Audigy 2 ZS Platinum driv

The X-Fi screwed up my system, so I returned it. So now, I've got an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum waiting for me at home (for a whopping $70 thanks to the $00 rebate at buy.com...zipzoomfly.com has the same rebate if buy.com doesn't have it anymore) and I'm wondering which drivers I should install when I get home?
Anyway, I hear some people getting better sound with the X-Fi drivers for this card, and of course I want the best sound possible out of this card. Should I download the X-Fi drivers (Platinum, to coincide with my card, I would imagine?) from the official Creative site?
Should I just go with the beta Audigy drivers from the official site? ...or the ones from station-drivers? Or are they the same? ...or should I just use the ones that come included on CD with my card?
Also, I know installing the X-fi drivers doesn't give you features like the Crystalizer and the X-Fi CMSS-3D headphone mode, but does it use the same control panel? Judging from pictures in reviews, the Audigy drivers have those old ugly looking control panels that my old Li've card used, while the X-Fi has new nice more modern looking ones.

All the issues you guys are talking about have been reported in beta stage of these new drivers. I would say none of them has been fixed yet. The only solution for now is to use previous drivers which work fine or use some modified drivers which fixes some issues, but not all. Your choice.

  • Sblive not working with Cool n'Quiet, how about Audigy

My SBli've will not work with Cool n'Quiet enabled. I tried moving it from slot to slot, I fumbled with the Bios (and every change made matters worse), memory is ok (at least according to memtest and prime95), kx drivers won't help either (but sound a lot nicer).
Well, what gives, the card is a little over seven years old and has earned a retirement.
I'm thinking about replacing it with an Audigy 4 (not pro) und would be very happy if someone could write about her or his experience with the card, esp. with Cool n'Quiet enabled.
Btw. what kind of card is it anyway? Does it use a 0k2-Chip?
    thanks
    My System:
    AMD X2 3800
    Asus A8V (Via KT800pro, AGP)
    Nvidia 6600GT (AGP)
    024 Mbyte RAM (conservati've timing)

I cant promize anything, but it should work. X-FI and Audigy 2 work just fine with C&Q enabled. So Audigy 4 should work fine too.

  • Question about Audigy 4 and bug report regarding the THX-cons

Will there be a non-pro version of the Audigy 4 and when?
The THX-console doesn't remember its settings when I switch from one speaker config to another. This is pretty annoying since I use both a hi-fi system and headphones.
    Could you fix this please?
    Thanks!

    Godfather,
I actually was having a very hard time loading up the images but managed to get them up.
Unfortunately this particular card is not compatible with the Audigy 2 Value. The Audigy 2 Value does not include a header for a gameport/midi input.

By the specs there is no 48V phantom power feed on that device --> you need a separate mic-pre w/ phantom power to get your mic working.
Here are some low priced USB devices w/ 48V phantom power onboard:

  • Unable to adjust bass/treble, and channels are coming out of both-Audigy SE model: SB0

Greetings. I just installed a fresh new copy of Windows XP Professional-- and decided it was a good idea to upgrade from my Li've! value from 999 to a better sound card...At least so?I hoped. I purchased this card from Wal-Mart the other night, and if it's anything like the other sound cards purchased at mega-retailers, I am going to be in for a huge headache, aren't I?Anyway, to the point:? When I run creative diagnostics, both the left, and the right channel, come out of the left and right, and right and left channel, respecti'vely... I can take one ear off left, and hear "left channel" in my right channel, and vice versa. Problem #2: I am unable to adjust my bass or my treble on the sound card. I checked the FAQ, but I didn't see anything terribly relevant, unless of course I am just blind. I look forward to any help I can get from you great peoples. Thank you for reading my message. SkylerakaJaldarith

What about the inability to adjust bass and treble? I google'd a bunch of different phrases about Audigy SE cards, and it seems they don't have that functionality. Am I missing something here?I installed the EAX control panel and that didn't help. Edit: Okay, so the left and right channel part is my problem-- but I have a headset by Sennheiser that has such a small headphone jack, it has to be halfway plugged into the sound card, in order for me to get full audio. I'll see if I can get that taken care of. The bass and treble still bother me though. Message Edited by Jaldarith on 2-07-200605:5 PM

  • DDL for AUDIGY 2....we are 1/2 way through DECEMBER

what is creative going to do release it december 26th?
they just waiting for everyone to buy the x-fi series then try and sell the DDL pack after x-mas?

After checking the support list, yes the Audigy LS does have coaxial SPDIF. I'm sorry I didn't know that -but I was always quite sane when purchasing soundcards.
Just because redocnekx didn't work for you or your Audigy LS, doesn't mean it doesn't work.
I?have 2 systems both with Audigy 2. One has Vista x32 and one has Vista x64. Redoconexk works fine on both of them. I'm not sure about the cut-down LS version...
If you go back to your original post you'll see no mention of the Audigy LS. Even the thread title says Audigy 2. If you're such an "uber demanding-respect guy from driver heaven *GASP* " surely you know how to name your post properly?
So to clarify in big letters.
Redoconexk works really well in both Vista flavours on my Audigy2. I get 5. discrete channels, with full EAX?via SPDIF and onboard optical!
I don't care about Audigy LE. Kinda sucks for you and anyone who owns one, I know.

  • Audigy 2 ZS and Windows 7 RTM drivers

    Hey
I was wondering about Audigy 2 ZS drivers for Windows 7 RTM. Any information on them? I want to get the card fully (or as close to fully) working on Windows 7 but the most important part is that it supports (my)?7. speakers.

Creative's latest should do fine (v2.8.00), but be aware that there's a problem with playing MP3s in Windows Media Player while in 5. mode (prolly applies to 7. mode aswell) - I can only confirm this is the case in the Win7 R though, may work fine in other versions of Windows.
Or use Dan K's, but with his, despite re-enabling CMSS2 and Stereo Surround for the various speaker configs, his packs screws up CMSS/CMSS2 when in headphones mode (which personally is the only time I use CMSS - love me some virtualized 5.).
I'd go with Creatives if you game and use headphones mode much.

  • Any sulutions for audigy 2 issues(setup could not detect the card at my pc)

i've looked for so long for a propper solution but i did not find anything usefull.
first i've downloaded the drivers and try to install them with no success.
second, i tried with the original cd, again no success.
iv'e moved the card to a diffrent slot , still nothing, always the same info when trying to install.
iv'e looked some here but there are a lot of threads about audigy, it will take a couple of years to look into all of them
i'm using win xp, my p.c is kind of new( year old), gigabite dsl motherbord if it matters.
even tried before a long time to contact your support, its a shame for this company, no single answear from you(even the other time i tried to contact you about my speakers).
hope that someone here can give an idea/s what else i can do with this.
    thanks in advance
    p.s
creative support/management its about time to treat your custumers or close this company, you have a lot of issues and you have zero support, your loss...

Okay I ended up fixing this problem myself seeing as a lot of these forum topics just come to a dead end with no real resolution.
    Let's get 'Creative' ...
I removed the reg entry hkey_local_machine/software/creative tech, removed all drivers, programs, and anything that even smelt faintly of creative.
Just to make sure I ran the CTZAPXX.exe on the cd and removed drivers again there also.
Then upon a swift reboot I used CTZAPXX.exe to install the drivers, ran the cd, unchecking the option at the bottom of the 'custom' install list to install windows drivers (as it had already been done)
    Now I'm back in business
Though, all through the ages I've never had a creative soundcard, which hasn't given me trouble at some stage, man I even have shameful memories of my AWE64... Lift your game creative, you've got a great product line, just a pity the shoddy drivers sometimes let them down.
This post may be a little outdated, but it's really intended for all you googlers out there I really hope this fixes your problem!

  • I can't install new drivers on Audigy

    I have installed drivers SBA2_EAX4DRV_0303.exe
I downloaded last update SBA2_PCWDRV_LB__84_55-R.exe from support site.
But I can't install it - message box with text about Audigy 2 card doesn't install in computer appears.
I saw in "requirements" what SP2 needed. I installed SP2 on Windows XP, but it didn't solve the problem.
What can I do to solve this problem?

<SPAN>When in vain... cheat.First go to Device manager and uninstall your creative (WDM) device by right clicking on it. If you have the drivers-amd64-04805.zip file then extract that and run the setup program again to uninstall other files.-- REBOOT --Windows will come up with the found new hardware wizard, open it and select install from specific location.Download the SBA2_WEB64_LB_2_03_0004.exe file from the creative site. Run the installation and wait for it to come up with the confirmation box about closing all other applications first (two buttons [ok] and [cancel].When it is at this point go back to your install from location hardware box and tell it to include the search path "C:\windows\temp\" in there look for a dir starting CRF000 or simular. Then browse to Drivers and wdm. Thus your include path should look something like ... "C:\WINDOWS\Temp\CRF000\Drivers\wdm". If you can't find this dir then search the windows temp directory for a folder called WDM and you will want the one containing the newest files.Hit ok and windows will find the drivers in this dir and install them for you. Just point the rest of the game input device etc to the same folder and then cancel the creative installer and reboot.Just like magic your sound card will be working. If you can't follow this then maybe you should just wait for creative to sort the problem out. =) It seems like a very common problem
