About automatically extend datafile!

HI All Experts,
What is the advantage and disadvantage about using automatically extend on datafile? Any suggestion is welcome!

I agree with forbrich, I also do not like using autoextend option. In case when you are obligated to use it (i.e. customer requirement) I would advice you to use MAXSIZE option. This will limit the size to which file can autoextend. You should also choose reasonable datafile sizes, you should choose reasonable sizes. You have to remember about data availability. If you place or you data in one datafile and this file will be corrupted you whole application will be not available during restore of for example 32 GB datafile. If you devide your data wisely between tablespaces in case of one datafile corruption many parts of your application can be available to end users.

About Automatic generation of Primary key

I have created one Z table. Its composite primary keys are vkorg
and Sales Representive Number. I have to assign Sales Representive number
through system. How it should be done?

Is there a way to automatically extend Reader rights in a form?

I have to automatically retrieve data from forms, process it a little bit, then populate another set of forms with it, make those forms signable (i.e., extend reader rights) and post them on the web. I have everything working except the reader rights extension. I've looked at third-party librearies (e.g., pdfLib) but I've read that only Adobe software can do this.
Is there a specific piece of software from Adobe that can be called from the command line (or, if needing human intervention, can work on many forms at once), and extend the reader rights of forms?

Question about automatic payment program

Hi Experts,
Need your help to solve below issue.
Compmnay code "1111" is central compasny code,which is making payments to vendor "dddd" through automatic payment program on behalf of other company codes(2222 and 3333).
Issue1:Company code "1111" has open item 1000 with respect to vendor "dddd" and company code "2222" has open item 3000 with respect to same vendor.
when i execute APP it is issuing two different checks though vendor is same.Single check should be issued as per my requirement.
Let me know about the configuration.
issue2: Compnay code has "1111"credit memo amount 10000(debit balance) in vendor "yyyy" in the year 2010 and since 2010 no invoices in comopany code "1111" but company code "2222" has invoice amount 15000 for the same vendor.
My requireemnt is check shoud be issued for the amount ( after diducting credit memo amount from invoice amount) in APP.
Please let me know about configuration.

To pay with one check, you need to the below configuration. Go to T-Code:OBVU and do the below steps, according to your requirement.
and Select payment method supplement (check box)
Specify the sending company code if you want to pay using a cross-company code transaction but do not want to pay the items of all participating company codes together.
Examples
Example 1:
Company code 0001 pays its own items and the items of company codes 0002 and 0003. All items are grouped into one payment.
Company code Paying company code Sending company code
0001 0001 0001
0002 0001 0001
0003 0001 0001
Example 2:
Company code 0001 pays its own items and the items of company codes 0002 and 0003. However, a separate payment is created for each company code.

Unable to extend datafile which is autoextend on.

I am facing interesting problem in
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - 64bit Production
SunOS XYZ 5.10 Generic_138888-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-880
Datafile is autoextend on and enough free space is available in mount point on OS, but datafile is unable to extend.....
Below are the details:

Extend datafile in raw device

Hi All,
need some help. our database resides in raw device. currently datafiles resides in different logical volume in HP UNIX server version 11.11. our database is Oracle9i.
there is one datafile with size 4G, not auto extensible resides in logical volume with physical size 4G. if i extend the logical volume from 4G to 6G, can i just resize the datafile to 6G?
or do i need to create a new datafile because current file size is big?

How about automatically syncing email filters in Thunderbird?

I use Thunderbird on a couple of computers but I end up needing to manually create and update my filters on each machine. It would be nice to be able to automatically sync the filters so any changes or additional filters would be available on all of the machines. Even being able to export the filters and import them on another machine would be a help.

There are add-ons for exporting and importing message filters, though I can't see one right now that's being actively maintained.
You can also go about it by by copying the message rule files between computers. Each account has a file named ''msgFilterRules.dat'' which hold the rules for that account.

In this process, you will complete a payment transaction automatically.
You should first enter some vendor invoices so that there are enough due payables available in the system. In order to reduce the work you need to do, we have created a CATT (Computer Aided Test Tool) that generates invoices automatically when activated.
Secondly, you will create a payment program and enter the parameters necessary for selecting the items to be paid.
Next, you will execute a payment proposal list and check its log. You will find that some items are blocked for payment. You will need to update the list in order to remove the block.
Later, you will start an actual run. Then you will set the print program so that the payment forms and accompanying payment advice notes and payment summaries are correctly assigned to the payment run. Finally, you will print the payment forms. If you are using North American data, you will then need to analyze the check register.

Question about "Automatic Archving"

I'm reading http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96521/archredo.htm where they mention the concept of automatic archiving..
It mentions the parameter "log_archive_start" , so I ran this:
SQL> show parameter log_archive_start;
NAME TYPE VALUE
log_archive_start boolean FALSE
Its false. However since I have archivelog mode enabled, my online redo logs do get archived.
So to me, everything seems fairly automatic.. my redo logs are being archived as I'd expect.
What am I misunderstanding?

I was just told in IRC that automatic archival is now set via control file and not via a parameter. Perhaps that is my confusion.

Question about automatic copying to library and Movies

I have my mac set to automatically copy any audio that is put in iTunes into my itunes folder because I like the way that it gets organized in there. Recently I have been ripping my DVDs using Handbrake so that I have digital copies of them on my hard drive. I want to put the movies into iTunes to make them more accessible, but I don't want them to be copied into my itunes library because I like to keep them in my Movies folder. Is there any way to avoid them being copied but still have my songs be copied over to the itunes folder?

No. You will have to turn off the prefs to copy to the iTunes music folder when adding to library then turn it back on.

Curiosity question about multiple "extends"

Out of Curiosity, what do you do when you have multiple things in your code, like actionListeners, Threads, etc. that require having "extends ___" in the constructor(I think that's what it's called)? I've tried doing multiple extends before and only recieved errors.

I believe you are getting inheritance and interface mixed up. You can only "extend" one superclass. You can "implement" multiple interfaces.
For starters, ActionListener is an interface so you would "implement" that interface, then you need to define the methods specified in the ActionListener interface.
The purpose of extending a class is not only to have access to all of it's methods/variables/etc - but to build on the class... for example overwriting certain methods, adding new methods, etc.
You do not have to extend classes just to use them within your code. If you have a program that uses Thread & Timer, then you need to "import" those classes:
import java.lang.Thread;
import java.util.Timer;
In order to have access to methods in these classes, you create an instance of these classes: Thread thread = new Thread(); Then access the public methods via thread.run().
