About Batch classification(Of class type 023) in new batch

hi:
   I had assigned a batch class 'ZBC'(Of class type 023) to material 'A'. So, when I use t-code "msc1n" to creat a new batch for the materia A, I find the system does not check the 'classification' view ,and after maintaing 'Basic Data1' view , I can directly save new batch even if the values of batch character is empty.I had specified the batch characer must be entry value in the batch class 'ZBC'(Of class type 023).
    I want to system check it ,and give me a message for it ,and couldn't save the batc if the values of batch character is empty.
   So ,I wonder how to control it?

Thans for you attention.
In my characteristics definition, I didn't use any reference table field . the values of 'addnl data' view in the characteristic is keeping blank.

How to change material classification for class type 023

Hi Expert,
I want to change class ZSK_EXPIRY_DATE to ZSKK_GR_DATE under class type 023 in classfication tab (MM02). Understand that the same class also assigned to material and batch in MSC3N. So i'm sure it's not as easy asdo the direct change in CL20N. Can i anyone please guide me step by step to change it? What is the pre-requisite and the impact of the change that i have to care of..

Hi Crystal,
You consume all the materials created with the earlier batch classification and then try to change it. or keep the assinged class and then create your new required class and then assign the new class to the material in classification view and start using the new one.

AUSP class type 023 batch

Hi
I have few milion of entries in class type 023 - batch in AUSP table?
In MCH1 I can see only few thousands entries for batches linked with material.
But for those I can not find any relavant entries in AUSP.
We are using very limited functionality of batch management. No classification is maintained for batches.
What are the other objects (than material) that uses batches?
I need to answer the question if entries in AUSP can be deleted or archived?

this means you have values for characteristics that are not anymore in your system.
Please have a look into OSS Note 501463 - Deletion of table AUSP not complete
and Note 127635 - ZCLINOB2: Comparison tables INOB/AUSP against KSSK.

Do you exchange batches with a APO system?
I have seen many OSS note while searching OSS with keyworkds "AUSP inconsistent"
MAybe there are more helpful reports for you to check and correct such data.
If you are unsure, then you should open a message to SAP

Batch Classification by class type 022

Hi all,
We are using batch management at material level and present class type 023. We are looking at changing the class type to 022 as we need some information to be retained at plant level.
While creating class for class type 022 the system gives an error " Internal class type 022 cannot be used in class maintenance
Message no. CL089"
Can somebody let me know the reason and solution for this error? Is it due to the fact that we have set the batch at material level?
Also, it would b great if someone can share his/her experience in changing batch clases, even class conversion.

I think that you should change the customizing first. Class types 022 and 023 can not be created simultaneously. It is either 022 or 023.
Be careful : I did it long time ago but there is one way you can do (023 to 022 or 022 to 023 I don't remember) but you cannot reverse it.

I am creating class from t code CL01 and while entering class type 023 , i am getting a error message
"Internal class type 023 cannot be used in class maintenance" . when i pressed F4 , in the list 023 is not present.
In the develpopment client , when i do the same 023 , it allows be to create class

I have checked the following customization "SPRO --> Cross Application component -->Classification system --> Class --> Maintain Object type and class,
Here select the MARA table click on the object and check class type 023 is assigned or not."
Class type 023 is not assigned there. When i try to add a new entry I get the following error message
"Specify the key within the work area".
I referred to the following note :OSS Note 1066606, but that is concerned with AFS component.
Kindly provide me a solution as soon as possible.

I have a problem in transfering classification data (class type 001). we use classification data in material (mm01) in ecc, class type is 001, but now I have to transfer the classification data to crm.

Customer classification - use class type 011 or copy?

Hi - We have a requirement for some customers to have additional information stored w/them and are planning on using the Classification system.
We have already created and are using one class under class type 011 for a different purpose / different set of data.
I know I can create a new class under existing/standard class type 011; however I am wondering if there is any benefit to creating a new class type, for example, Z11 by copying 011 and creating my new class under type Z11?
I'm asking because I have seen, in the case of material, multiple "Z" class types for further describing materials, each with one class instead of multiple classes under standard class types.

look, before to proceed take into account that class type determines the following:
which object types you can assign to a class
which class maintenance functions you can process
whether you can classify objects in more than one class
which class statuses, organizational areas, and text types are supported in class maintenance functions
whether you can use engineering change management for classification
which filter functions you can use to restrict the search result

Activation of History Log for Material Classification CLASS TYPE 001

Hi All.
I've a question about this object.
We need to launch RCCLUKA2 to activate multiple objects registration and to generate history log for changes in classification of materials (AUSP table).
Reference are sap notes 942691 and 943559.
I FOUND OUT THERE'S a big problem. RCCLUKA2 change AUSP objek key, using internal number range from INOB objects.
There're hundreds of custom reports and other stuff that read AUSP directly with Matnr Code as objek key.
I think that's a serious problem, isn't it? Or is there any solution about ?

This report RCCLUKA2 does 5 steps.
1 step: activation flag for multiple objects in table TCLA and TCLAO only for input class type (in this case 001 -> MATERIAL);
2 step: download of KSSK data and AUSP data in two text files (name defined in input parameters);
3 step: delete all KSSK data and AUSP data for class type 001, 10.000 records every loop;
4 step: create reference object in table INOB for all records inserted in KSSKFILE, inserting all records in KSSK table at END of INOB upgrade;
5 step: inserting record in AUSP table from all records inserted in AUSPFILE, using INOB objectid created in step 4.

We think that this process is a little bit dangerous in production system, due to procedures that always run, in background or foreground.
I've found a work around that creates an implicit enhancement for LCLVFF10 form FILL_REDUN.
I think that it's not suggested to create this enhancement because of the missing flags in TCLA/TCLAO and missing reference in INOB and KSSK database.
This enhancement would create records only in CDHDR and CDPOS with a general key object reference (such concatanate matnr(without-letters) mafid and atinn code).
This enhancement couldn't also activate the standard function of reading document changes from standard menu in MM03/MM02/MM01, etc..
Do you have any suggestion about this?
RCCLUKA2 is a very old report. SAP didn't give any advice or upgrades for this need?

Transaction OMCT (about batch level)

Hello people,
I would like to know if anybody can help me with the transaction OMCT. We are trying to change the batch level (conversion). Right now we have the same batch number for one material in two different plants and we also have the same batch number for two different material. When I throw the program in that transaction (OMCT) many incidents come out so I would like to have same information about how this program works.

This function is not implemented in the standard system.
Solution
On principle, SAP recommends to stay on material level.
Reason:
1. If the batch level is defined on plant level, batch properties of a material batch of the same name are not transferred in case of cross-plant processes (see also Note 156299). In addition, a material batch may have the same name but different properties (e.g. expiry date) in different plants, since two plant-dependant batch masters exist. This should be considered in particular regarding the increasing importance of batches and the obligation of keeping a cross-reference without any gaps. A synchronization of patch properties beyond plant boundaries can only be guaranteed using the material level or the client level.
2. If a material is to be handled differently in different plants regarding the requirement of managing batches, this can only be realized using the plant level. For this case, however, we recommend nevertheless to stay on material level and create a dummy batch in the plant where batch management is not desired. In this dummy batch, all stocks of the material are managed. This has the advantage that the batch management requirement can be later introduced without any problems.
3. WIth SAP products R/3 Enterprise 4.7, APO 4.0, and CRM 4.0, the batch is increasingly used in cross-system processes. For those cross-system processes, plant level is not supported.
If the plant level is to be recreated nevertheless, please consider the following:
Since this type of conversion is very complex, it should be executed in a test system first.
After the conversion, check all batch data randomly for consistency.
It is recommended to inform the SAP Development department (distribution list DESDFUNC) by means of REMOTE consulting or through your personal consultant about the following points prior to a conversion in the production system:
1. Is classification for batches being used?
2. Is batch status management being used?
3. Are long texts for batches being used?
4. Is split or individual batch valuation being used?
5. Number of records for class type 023 in table INOB
6. Number of records for class type 023 in table AUSP
7. Number of records for class type 023 in table KSSK
8. Number of records in table MCH1
9. Number of records in table MCHA ========================================================================
This type of conversion can only be made as of Release 3.1I. Proceed as follows:
1. For all releases earlier 4.5B, apply the correction as well as the modification in RM07CHDX as specified in the correction instructions.
2. Create report ZCHTCUCH which is specified in the attachment.
3. Execute this report in the client in which you want to reset the batch level to plant level.
4. Call Transaction OMCT.
5. Check whether the batch level is set to "Batch unique at plant level".
6. Perform function "Batch level -> Convert".
7. Determine a plant for a possibly missing plant view.
8. Always execute the report in the test mode first. Analyze the error log.
9. If no errors occurred, you can execute the report in the production mode.
10. In case you are using long texts for batches, you should run report ZM07CHDX_TEXT afterwards (in the test mode first).

You want to convert the batch level from plant to material. The standard report (transaction OMCT) provided by Customizing of the batch management cannot execute the conversion, because
the plant definition cannot be explicitly defined for individual batches, or
the batch management requirement is not cross-plant unique for individual materials - in this case you must take Note 533276 into account.

Solution
You can solve the problem that repeatedly occurring batch numbers are flagged for deletion and then reorganized or archived with standard means. Batch stocks, which may exist, have to be cleared in advance.
In the case of a larger number of affected batches you can alternatively use a special conversion-report of the batch development, which executes the conversion without further manual interventions. However, the prerequisite here is that you can determine a 'leading plant' which then defines the plant batches whose data is retained during the conversion.
We have developed the main features of this report, but it must be adjusted to individual business processes in a customer project that is subject to charges.

Class type not defined for this object type

Could u please guide me ?..We have a requirement to extract some data from classification system.
This is related with class type 023 - Batch
I want to use the following parameters in CTBW.
basis datasource :Z_BATCH_ATTR
class type : 023
object table :MCHA
Datasource type : ATTR
I am getting an error "Class type not defined for this object type" when i enter the above entries in CTBW.
The only way I'm being able to make this work is changing object table from MCHA to MCH1.
This solution does not fit me bacause MCH1 table dont have Plant as Key, and I need it.
Do you know what should I do to solve this?

Go to TCode OMCE and check the batch level.
If batch is activated at material/client level then use class type 023, if it is at plant level the class type 022.

More than one class type for a Material

Hi All,
We have a requirement of using a Material for Variant configuration. So we need to assign Class type 300 for that Material.
But that Material is Batch managed. So Class type 023 is already assigned. I am unable to extend the Material to Class type 300.
I searched forum, it is given that, it is possible to maintain different Class types for a Material.
But I tried, I couldn't do that.
Please help me to extend a Material to another Class type.

Hi Raja,
You can maintain different classes for same material.
Go to material master and go to Classification view. Go to Extras->Change class type (F7)
Now you can add a class of different class type.
