About Blackberry Curve 9380 Battery Warranty

Hi,
I have bought a BB Curve 9380 from Sharaf DG 4 U (Mirdiff Centre, UAE) dated 30-06-12. The phone is dead now as a result of a faulty Battery. I went to the Customer Service at Sharaf DG 4 U today and they are saying that there is no Blackberry warranty for Battery from the Manufacturer.
Guys, kindly help me out in finding a solution for this. Is it true that the BB Customers are not eligible for 6 months Battery warranty??
Looking forward to receive your opinions,
Regards,
Jaimon Joseph

  • My Blackberry Curve 9380's screen won't turn on!

My Blackberry Curve 9380's display screen won't turn on!  The flashing red light still appears so I guess I am still able to receive texts.  I can also receive calls; my ring tone goes off but I cannot answer!  I have to unlock it and I can't do anything on a touch screen that's virtually useless now.  I've done so many battery pulls yet it doesn't work.
I did drop it but it wasn't very hard.  My bb fell when it was in my rubber case and the fall was around knee length (I am very short only 5'0).  My friend said its possible that the backlight broke.  If it is true, how much does it cost to repair it?  My warranty expired a few weeks ago...
My friend also said there could be something else wrong with it.  Like a downloaded an app that had a corrupt file (this has happened to me before and the phrase "Uncaught exception java.lang.error" kept popping up every time I did a battery pull) or a programming error. I tried Jl_Cmder and I've done reset to factory.  I've even tried to wipe everything completely.  "The device will reboot to a white screen with a '507' error" this didn't happen... It did reboot but nothing can be seen.  I regret it deeply ...
I'm sorry this is so long but please can someone help me? ):

Ouch, that doesn't sound good. Even though it's out of warranty, you should check first with your mobile provider for a repair estimate.
    Sorry!

    Hi ritikapal
    Welcome to the Community
Sorry to hear about your problem but As you also known that this is just a user support forum ,here user like you and us try to help each other as much possible.
On your Home screen Go to Options > Device > Application Management > Move your Trackpad  left or right on the screen to CPU USAGE... check which application(s) is using the CPU resorces.
Regarding your device problem if anybody told you that BlackBerry are meant  only for calling I think he has a little knowledge about BlackBerry.Your device can handle much more application but it depends on the way we use it.pressing the menu key for a few second  will pop up a screen which will show all running programs in the background ,generally five will always there ( Home, BBM, Message,Phone , Browser ) look if any other apps. are running.
Always try to Close Applications Correctly - Avoid using the End key to close applications as this simply minimizes the application and leaves it running in the background. Instead, press the Menu key, select the Close or Exit option to exit the application. If programs run in the background it will also lead to Battery drainage and also device hangs .Please have a look at this Article  :
KB14320 How to maximize battery life and free memory on the BlackBerry smartphone .
Try following those steps mentioned at the KB to see if your problem resolves.
If problem presists try it by youself :
1.Locate your Carrier and Download the OS you desire from here and Install it in your PC or Laptop Carriers
(make sure you are downloading for the same model as you have )
    2. Download and install the latest BlackBerry desktop software from here BlackBerry desktop software
Then if it allow  perform your backup of your device.
3.Search your C: drive for Vendor.xml and delete them, there may be one or two vendor.xml ( On your Pc change your folders option to show hidden files/folders ) :
        C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
        C:\Users\Windows UserName\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
      4. Use BBSAK from  http://bbsak.org/   and wipe the device then after you get the error 507 ( no OS ) then proceed to next step.
    5. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader. (For 64-bit Vista or Windows 7, the path       will be C: > Program Files x86 > Common Files > Research In Motion > AppLoader) double click Loader.exe.

  • My blackberry Curve 9380 won't switch on

Hi, my blackberry curve 9380 won't switch on and i have had it on charge since last night.  The red light or green light isnt on and it doesnt want to switch on even after i take the battery, sim and SD card out? It is just under a year old.  Can anyone help because i need my phone to be on urgently!!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry curve 9380 keeps crashing

    hey,
my Blackberry curve 9380 (whcih i've had for 3 weeks) keeps crashing all the time, the loading square thingie appears and then it's stuck. after a while it even gives an error message. i tried pushing buttons, but the only solution so far is taking out the battery and re-installing it. then restart the phone (which normally takes 4 seconds but when it has crashed it takes 5 minutes...) i've installed the latest blackberry software, so that can't be it... can anyone please tell me why my blackberry curve 9380 keeps freaking out like that?
    siincerely,
    Kjaaps

the error message, i can't give any details, since i have given my cell back to the wtore as it still is in waranty and so they will search for the errors.
as for the loading clock, sometimes it just appears and then all of a sudden my cell blocks...., don't think that it's normal that that thing appears and blocks even when you're not using internet, or clearing cache, history, cookies etc... now i know this sounds vague and all, but since i've only had this cellphone for 3 weeks, i hadn't figured everything out.

  • Switch b/w edge and GSM on Blackberry Curve 9380

Hey few days back I bought Blackberry Curve 9380. Basically I'm new to Blackberry Universe.
Generally when I'm at home, I prefer to use GSM only coz I have Wi-Fi. But when I swtich off data usage, connect to Wi-Fi, the Browser and other internet applications say that they are unable to internet.
Also guide me how to switch b/w GSM & edge network...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First Your need BIS - Blackberry Internet Serives subscription from Vodafone IN, this is the unique feature which seperates other mobile devices from Blackberry.
Browser, Facebook, twitter and all other apps require BIS subscription. Only appworld will work in Wi-Fi mode.
You can change the Browser settings to Hotspot to work in wifi, but i think in OS 7 it will detect automatically.
if you have BIS subscription 3G is free.

  • Blackberry Curve 9310 Battery shows Red X with JM1 9900/9930 = 1230mah

Blackberry Curve 9310 Battery shows Red X with JM1 9900/9930 = 1230mah Is it possible to get the new JM1 battery to work with the Blackberry curve 9310 the original battery was JS1 9200/9230 = 1450mah the site I ordered stated they were identical but the device shows not connected properly with the JM!. I'm told there may be a update to remove the notfication that I can install? Thank you

    I GOT A SOLUTION!
Ok, so this has been happening to me a lot with my 9790, and it sure is a pain in the ***...
I got my battery with my phone when I purchased it from the phone company, if you did too the battery is most likely legit.
So the 2 ways that worked for me are:
    1) Plug the charger into the device and turn it on so the Red X appears again
    2) Plug the device out, then take the battery out and hold it in your hands for 1-2 mins (that's what I did)
    3) Put the battery back into the device and plug the charger back into the device, BUT DO NOT turn the device back on
I plugged the changer into my device without turning it on, and the LED turned on with a black screen, you wait 1-3mins and the screen will appear with a lightening bolt through a battery.
This means it's now charging, once that happened I still didn't turn it on. It'll go to the Blackberry loading screen on it's own. TA-DAH!!
If that doesn't work, here's the second way, but it's a pain in the ***...
Hopefully you Backed Up your phone recently..because what you're going to have to do is reinstall your phone, I can't remember the steps correctly but it's pretty simple
What you want to do is connect your BlackBerry to your desktop or laptop, and open up the BB Desktop Manager. From there your BlackBerry won't be detected. Then you have to update it and click on look for updates or whatever it says, then do that and even though you already have that version just click ok to update it. From there it'll update and reinstall everything. By the time it's done you're phone should be wiped except for the things you have saved on your little memory card. Next just restore everything you had backed up from the desktop manager.
Hope one of those steps helped ya!

  • BlackBerry Curve 8520 Battery life issue and Loading icon

Hello, I have an issue with my BlackBerry Curve 8520, the problem is that it has extremely low battery life and half the time it has the loading circle thing in the middle, I first thought it was my batteries fault but after buying a new battery the loading circle thing still comes up but not as much but the battery life is still extremely low (locked or on standby whatever its called it lasts around 2-3 hours, Ive turned off my bluetooth and the problem still remains please help!

Anthony (or anyone else monitoring this thread):
So, what was the outcome of the troubleshooting session with "windycity"?
I don't have a problem with a mysterious icon; however, the anemic battery issue is exactly as windycity described: new charged-up Samsung Haven phone is on; no calls in or out; no text messages either; however, in slightly less than 24 hours, the Haven goes from having a fully-charged battery to one that's dead, or just about.
Like windycity, I bought this simple phone for my father, who just wants a phone he can make voice calls with, nothing more.
However, the sad peformance of this phone+battery has not helped me in my campaign to at least get him to dip his toes into the digital stream -- in fact, he wants me to take it back and cancel the plan!
I'd really rather not do that, but we'll need some kind of resolution to this problem first.

  • I need to know a lot of things about Blackberry Curve 9300, I need hel please...

Hello there! Some of the questions or problems I'm encountering now maybe for some is nothing & seemed silly but for me it's giving me headache. First, just downloading & installing the Blackberry Desktop Software for PC is giving me a problem already, I downloaded & installed Blackberry Desktop Software v.5.0 but seemed not compatible with my PC & Blackberry Curve 9300, some options & features were missing/incomplete. So what is the best BB Desktop Software for BB Curve 9300? And I want to upgrade my BB Curve 9300 v.5.0.0.977 (Platform 6.3.0.63) to 6 OS. However, I want to know the advantages of the 6 OS first, what features are so special with this OS? Is it ok to download & install the 6 OS leaks? Among those leaks(V.6.0.0.448; v.6.0.0.418, v.6.0.0.380, v.6.0.0.344; etc.) what is the best & safest & most compatible with version of blackberyy Curve 9300 that i have??? Is it a must to upgrade my version of BB Curve 9300 to 6 OS? Í love changing my themes, wallpapers & ringtones but the version I have doesn't allow me to do so... So limited choices... What can I do???
I will really appreciate any comments, suggestions, replies regarding my concerns... Thanks!!!

Hi and Welcome to the forums!
Wow...that's a lot to pack into a single paragraph with a large colorful font! But, let's see if we can take your points one by one, shall we?

Exactly how did it seem not compatible? Precise descriptions are always better than vague generalities...which leave us to only guess...which helps no one I find...
    Netteski wrote:

    Again...what, exactly?
    Netteski wrote:

The most recent version (6.0.1.18), available here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
BTW...the version of the Desktop Software itself is not at all tied to your BB model, nor your BB OS level. It is always best to use the most recent Desktop Software version, regardless of BB model/OS that you have. (There are some very special cases that are exceptions to that...but they are indeed very special.)

OS 6 is very very different from OS 5. I suggest you read the release notes, view the videos, and other things. If, ultimately, you decide you don't want it, then you can always fall back.

I don't know if those versions are leaks or not. But, if they are from a carriers download web portal:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
then they are official and not leaks. From what I can quickly find, the most recent official OS for the 9300 is 6.0.0.461 (from Telus). Typically, on this officially sanctioned (by RIM) site, we shy away from much discussion about leaks since they have bypassed the official channels and are not sanctioned by anyone for release to the general public.

Nope...you can stay behind for as long as you want. Just be aware that someday your OS will be End Of Life and there will be no further formal support. Before you ask...no, I've no idea when that would happen.
    Netteski wrote:

Given that OS 6 is even newer, I'd expect that your choices for those things would be even further limited. But, over time, that will shift and there will be plenty of options for OS 6 for you to play with.
    Good luck!

  • New blackberry curve 9380

hi i just got myself a new blackberry 9380 i set it up and put it on charge how long should i charge it for for the first time ive been told different things by different people
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You don't even have to charge it the first time, although it is a good idea if the battery is close to dead.
The Li-Ion batteries are not as the old Ni-Cad type batteries that need a certain charge the first time of use, these do not have the memory effect.
But anyway, charge it up and use it. You can charge it to 100% and no more. So, ever how long that takes...
Here are some good charging tips, please read and you'll see that many of them will apply to you.
