ABOUT CIF'S

can any one explain the steps to transfer the data from r/3 to apo dp using CIF'S

In DP, we just use CIF for SCM master data (Product, Location) while the master data needed for DP (CVCs) is generated from sales information coming through BW cubes.
You donot need to CIF anything for planning in DP but in case you want to send it to R/3 or SNP, they need master data reference to linkup your transaction data that you want to transfer. Then you need to CIF your data.
For step by step information on how to CIF, look at the documentation in the following link in [SCM best practices.|http://help.sap.com/bp_scmv150/BBLibrary/HTML/BBLibrary_EN_DE.htm]
Click on replication and click on the Configuration Guide.
Hope this helps.

    Karan,
"Supporting Consultant" is a vague term.  A consultant that is assigned a support task can be asked to do many things.
In some companies, the supporting consultant may be asked to be a point of contact for all issues generated by the users.  He may be asked to answer simple questions, and he may be responsible for directing the inquiry to the next level of support if the issue exceeds his capabilities.
In addition, as you suggest, he may be asked to perform general maintenance tasks, and to monitor the health of the applications.  In each consulting company, the tasks can be assigned differently.  In addition, in a single consulting company, the support person's tasks may change over time. Generally, the above mentioned support people should be prepared to deal with users.
A second type of supporting Project consultant would be a junior consultant assigned to a senior consultant, or to a consulting team.  In this role, he would be expected to receive assignments directly from the senior team members.  Such tasks might be to set up less complex configuration, or to perform programming tasks under the direct supervision of a senior team member.
If you are considering applying for a job as a 'supporting consultant', you should ask the employer exactly what are his expectations.

  • Yosemite 10.10.1: Finder/CIFS mount problem: wrong folder count/folders not shown @samba shares

    Hello to all,
we have several MacBook Pro (15" MBP Retina 2012/13"MBP Retina 2014) running. After upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1 we had one nightmare after the other.
Most problems could be solved with 3rd party software upgrades but there are several problems with the operating system itselve which can not really  be called a professional productive system at the moment...
Ok., one thing after the other...here is one of our biggest problems:
After upgrading from Mavericks or Mountain Lion to Yosemite 10.10.1 the CIFS/SMB mounts to our samba 3.x servers, running on Ubuntu Linux LTS 12.04 makes trouble. We could mount the server shares but after browsing with the Finder the beach ball occures and the Finder hangs forever. Sometimes we could not refresh the Finder, killing the process ended in a complete hang-up of the system which ended in a switch off death blow. This is not amusing because we have 30Tb of customer data there, which has to be worked out.
We heard about the SMB3 protocol which will be used per default in Yosemite and so we decided after some testings to upgrate our Ubuntu servers to the latest LSF 14.04. release with samba 4.1.6 installed. There was no message from Apple for this SMB protocol release upgrade, never heard something related to Yosemite (Why?).
Ok, after these server upgrades and disabling most of the Spotlight functions the performance to the CIFS shares was a little bit better as before but now we have another problem with the Finder...if you browse to the shares there are folders missing which have lots of files in it. For example there is a folder with 60 subfolders and 3562 files on the first level in it, the Finder shows 220 files and 15 folders. The Terminal shows a different count with "find . -maxdepth 1 -type d | wc -l" or "find . -maxdepth 1 -type f | wc -l" but there is also a difference to the original file and folder count. It doesn`t matter if the clients are connected via WiFi or Gigabit Ethernet. We have no access problems. We have the same behavior if we set the files and folders to 0777 permissions on the servers. The deletion of the preferences files of the users on the MacBooks does not solve the problem. If we use the "Go To Folder" option and type the path to a folder which is not shown in the Finder you get an result or not. But it is also possible that the result is not correct and there are also still files or subfolders missing.
In my opinion this is a timeout problem and a "special SMB3 protocol interpretation" which is buggy. We have one hint found in /var/log/system.log:
    "Jan 23 14:35:49 wsosx33.clients.getcom.de KernelEventAgent[69]: tid 54485244 type 'smbfs', mounted on '/Volumes/customersdata2015', from '//x144067:@srvlxp013.servers.getcom.de/customersdata2015', not responding"
We had no problems with Mavericks at all, we still have no problems with Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate, Windows 2008R2 (native or virtual) or Linux Mint 17/17.1 clients, neither with samba 3.x nor with our actual environment and different newer samba releases.
We believe that this is a big bug in Yosemite, but we cannot go back to Mavericks because of incompatible TimeCapsule backups. Our workarround at the moment is that we have installed Linux Mint on our MacBooks to get 80% of our daily jobs done, rest has to be done with Windows 7 installed over virtualbox @Linux.
We have no clue at the moment how to solve this problem, the samba logs do not give any hint. The access from other operating systems is perfect and very fast, but not with Yosemite. We checked different tips found in the internet but nothing helped.
Does anybody has another idea to get Yosemite working or should we keep Linux Mint until Apple will provide a CIFS/SMB patch and going on with our workaround solution, which is productive at the moment ??? Our staff is not amused and wants one solution and not this workaround with two operating system. We have to decide wether we wait until Apple will get this fixed or we have to switch to Microsoft Windows (which is a No Go for me, but I will not be asked...).
    Thanks in advance
    C.

    Hi William,
    thank you for your response.
As you can read in my post I talked about CIFS/SMB.
It makes no difference if we mount the share over CIFS or SMB.
Folders with lots of files will not be shown even if we use SMB3 or an older protocol.
As mentioned I believe this is a timeout problem.
Does anybody know how the CIFS/SMB timeout setting in Yosemite could be changed?
    Kind regards
    C.

  • WAAS 4.1.1c - Optimized CIFS Sessions

I have 2 remote devices. Using the CM and looking at Dsshboard > Devices > Device1, then the Acceleration tab, I see "Insufficient data to plot the chart" for Optimized CIFS Sessions. I've got 25+ users at one location, and 3 users at the other. Shouldn't I see something about CIFS optimization? Something wrong with the report? Some other cli or something to verify the device is operating properly?
EDIT: both devices indicate insufficient information to plot the chart.

    sho cifs accellerator:
Accelerator Licensed Config State Operational State

Changed report to "last hour", no change in report.

  • CIF Batch jobs and LUW

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone tell me about CIF Batch jobs and LUW please. Explain these two in detail whether they are the same or any difference and any relationship between both.
    Thanks in advance
    Suvecha

    Hi
LUW stands for Logical Unit of work.
Its a way of binding data together(multiple CIF queues under a single entity)
It is useful to maintain the atomicity of data.
For ex :- Say u have 5 materials under a single TLB order and u have sent that order to R3 for recieving number. If any of those materials is having master data which doesn't satisfy the filter criteria for Integration Model then the whole LUW will be blocked.
Signifies the entire data set will be passed on as a single LUW.
For CIF batch Jobs could you please explain what exactly you want to know.
    Thanks

  • Experience about life without Novell Client?

    Hi,
got anyone a wider experience about OES Infrastructure without Novell
    Client and W7 Workstations?
We didn't need absolut highest performance but an absolut stable and
    reliable Environment (24h Healthcare).
    - Is Performance with CIFS Access to OES NSS Cluster Ressources comparable?
    - Is availability comparable (in special Cluster migrations, Filelocking
    on Files)
Today we run ~250 XP Workstations on OES2
    Cluster/Filesharing/iprint/Zen7 and Groupwise.
Now we are going to ZCM11 and W7/64bit and think about avoid to use the
Novell Client for Windows to reduce complexity and switch on Client Side
to AD-Domain and use OES Infrastructur only for the "Backend".
Most Novell Services (Groupwise/iPrint) are going to auth to AD too, so
why should we use Novell Client and the NCP Protocol anymore?
Is the NCP Protocoll so much better against CIFS in current OES
Implementations (i'm no Expert in this Things).

What would you like to know?
Most infos are on my first post.
We get more and more Windows Applikations who need a Windows Server as
Plattform for Services, Shares and Authentication.
In the past we create lokal "system" Accounts on these Applikation
Servers and map there Shares with help of the Loginskripts.
    like map use R: \\app-server\files password /user:<systemaccount>
But now we are low on Drive Letters...
So now we think about to bring the Applikation Server and Windows
Workstation into AD-Domain for using same User Accounts/Passworddatabase
and use the UNC Syntax for this kind of Applikations.
Or we use some Applikations/Infrastruktur who use "transparent" Login
with AD Authentication (sp. Citrix) or use this as Authentication Point.
And that's our thoughts about CIFS and Novell Infrastractur in General.

  • CIF Queues

What is the recomended default Queue Type for industries having a huge Data Volume ? Is it the inbound Queue or the Outbound Queue ?

    Hi Ranjini B Krishnamurthy
To a avoid misunderstanding, here is some comment about CIF queue.
Even you activate inbound queue, outbound queue is still used in sender system.
So if you create data in APO, it is first stored in ourbound queue, then Q-out scheduler process it and store queue datain inbound queue of reciver system. Then inbound queue scheduler of receiver system process queue in inbound queue.
So even you activate inbound queue, outbound queue is still used. (If you stop queue out scheduler from T-CD SMQS, you may see queue in outbound queue).
Since outbound queue had problem before (just using outbound queue had possibility to used up all WP in receiver system), inbound queue is recommended. Then receiver system can control the number of wps related to queue process.
And as you may know, inbound queue enable more control of queue processing. So with high data volume scenario, inbound queue is better to be used.

I have a SBS 6.5.1 server (soon to be a 6.5.6 server), and, among all
the other things, its is publishing a Microsoft workgroup share name.
I expected to be able to log in to this with either my user name and
password or the admin user and password. I know both sets accurately.
It won't take either one. I've never used this before, and I have a
client that wants to use it with a 64-bit Windows XP box on their
network. They tried the Vista beta client, and it didn't work all
that well. I haven't been able to get logged into theirs either.
Do I configure this in ConsoleOne? I don't see any objects that seem
to relate to this, and on my objects, I don't see an property pages
that talk about CIFS, either. At least I don't recognize it as such.
I'm look for a quick jump-in to get it working.

So, I found a pretty good recipe at:

    Thanks for reply.
When I settting novell-CIFS. Users 'Administrator' exist. I set universal password for this user (Imanager/Password/Set Universal password) same as in eDirectory.
I try, log user "Administrator" with Novell client, >

Do you want to change your password? YES, I retype password. LOGIN-LGNWNT32-2070 Need another password. Password change. logout novell client.
And now I log to CIFS with user Administrator. This is solved.
Thanks you very match, users loging now work.
I have another question about CIFS, we have problem with write speed to CIFS drive-its very slowly, read speed seems OK.

  • Schedule lines in Availability Check Delivery Proposal screen

    Hi,
This is in continuation to an earlier thread that I had created about Sales Orders not getting CIFfed across to APO. I have a situation in a different system where this is being configured for data transfer. The problem here is not about CIF. All issues pertaining to CIF were addressed in the earlier thread.
This question is primarily about schedule lines of the sales order not opening up for confirmation in 'APO Availability Check: Delivery Proposal' screen as in this link: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B78qjSKXsqbeNDFjMzlkM2MtMDNlOS00ODFmLWJmYjktYmU0ZDU5Zjk0ZDlh&sort=name&layout=list&num=50&authkey=CO2E0ZYN
It is perhaps some config that is changed or missing that is causing this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Srikanth

    Srikanth,
This is what the screen looks like when the ATP you have configured cannot confirm anything.  The only button available to you is to proceed without confirming the order.
An example of the types of reasons would be no allocation available, no stock available, no supply elements available, too many existing requirements, etc etc.  Improper or incomplete APO GATP configuration could unfortunately also be the culprit.
You have two icons at the top, check instructions and Allocation.  Click on these buttons, and they may give you clues as to what is causing your problems.

  • How to transfer Sales BOM from ECC to APO DP

    Hi,
Demand planning require Sales BOM from ECC. Sales BOM in ECC will not have Routing & Work center, then how a PPM with Sales BOM can be transferred.  If i have to create a dummy routing & WC for those sales BOM it will be tidious job to create all the master data. Is there any way to transfer the BOM alone from ECC to APO.
Please throw some light on it.
    Thanks & Regards
    Shan

    Hi Somnath / Ritesh,
Are you sure about ciffing Sales BOM(usage 5)to APO as PDS ? Did you test it or your comments are based on SAP documentation?
I tried to CIF Sales BOM as SNP PDS, it is creating PDS with only parent item.Child items are missing.I have not used any production version here.
If i use production BOM(usage 1), it is creating PDS with both parent and child items.I have not used any production version here also.
SAP says BOMs can be ciffed to APO as PDS. No productions versions are required. but it has not mentioned about BOM's usage. May be , Is it by default production BOM?
One more question, Is it possible to create production version with BOM usage 5? It has no meaning right..
I think system does not allow you to create production version with BOM usage 5.
I also tried with BOM usage 2. In this case also it behaves like sales BOM.
looks like only production BOM can be ciffed with proper BOM structure in APO.
if required i can send you the link to share screen shots.
    Pls comment..

  • SAP SCM and SAP APO: Best practices, tips and recommendations

    Hi,
I have been gathering useful information about SAP SCM and SAP APO (e.g., advanced supply chain planning, master data and transaction data for advanced planning, demand planning, cross-plant planning, production planning and detailed scheduling, deployment, global available-to-promise (global ATP), CIF (core interface), SAP APO DP planning tools (macros, statistical forecasting, lifecycle planning, data realignment, data upload into the planning area, mass processing u2013 background jobs, process chains, aggregation and disaggregation), and PP/DS heuristics for production planning).
I am especially interested about best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO. For example, [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 3.1.1|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700006480652001E] and [CIF Tips and Tricks Version 4.0|https://service.sap.com/form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700000596412005E] contain pretty useful knowledge about CIF.
If you know any useful best practices, tips and recommendations for using and developing SAP SCM and SAP APO, I would appreciate if you could share those assets with me.
Thanks in advance of your help.

    Hi Jarmo,
Apart from what DB has suggested. you should give a good reading on the following.
-Consulting Notes (use the application component filters in search notes)
-Collective Notes (similar to the one above)
    -Release Notes
    -Release Restrictions
-If $$ permit subscribe to www.scmexpertonline.com. Good perspective on concepts around SAP SCM.
-There are a couple of blogs (e.g. www.apolemia.com) .. but all lack breadth.. some topics in depth.
-"Articles" section on this site (not all are classified well.. see in ECCops, mfg, SCM, Logistics etc)
-Serivce.sap.com- check the solution details overview in knowledge exchange tab. There are product presentations and collaterals for every release. Good breadth but no depth.
-Building Blocks - available for all application areas. This is limited to vanilla configuration of just making a process work and nothing more than that.
-Get the book "Sales and Operations Planning with SAP APO" by SAP Press. Its got plenty of  easy to follow stuff, good perspective and lots of screen shots to make life easier.
-help.sap.com the last thing that most refer after all "handy" options (incl. this forum) are exhausted. Nevertheless, this is the superset of all "secondary" documents. But the maze of hyperlinks that start at APO might lead you to something like xml schema.
Key Tip: Appreciate that SAP SCM is largely driven by connected execution systems (SAP ECC/ERP). So the best place to start with should be a good overview of ERP OPS solution overview, at least at the significant level of depth.). Check this document at sdn wiki "ERP ops architecture overview".
I have some good collection of documents though many i havent read myself. If you need them let me know.

  • APO Basics

I have been doing a lot of research and am confused on the communication flow between APO, live cache, and R/3. I have read about CIF, but the more I read the more I get confused. I am also curious when, and if it is customizable, the data flow takes place, and how quickly this process is.
I know that there are Business System Groups and that they should be assigned in the APO system in relation to a system that contains the master data server, but I donu2019t really understand why or how.
Within APO the live cache will run the algorithm and pull in the key findings from R/3 to APO, but are the key findings where the planners can place constraints?
I would really appreciate any further explanation.

BSG's are like identity numbers. You just define them in both source and destinations locations so that both can recognize each other.
"One or more logical systems that belong together from a business point of view. A business system group represents a unit within a company or organization that can be defined according to legal, economic, administrative or geographic factors.
The objects in a business system group are uniquely identified by a uniform numbering system."
Within APO the live cache will run the algorithm and pull in the key findings from R/3 to APO, but are the key findings where the planners can place constraints?
Livecache is just a database.  SAP designed this "meta-ram-database" which is like a combination of RAM in a computer and  database that can also store data. Imagine a computer. It as RAM and it has a hard disk( database). Every time you execute some thing, the system stores temporarily in RAM and then puts back to hard disk. This slows down processing in planning. SO for faster planning, the planning information is save d in RAM *** database called livecache.
How ever livecache by itself does not have capability to pull information from R/3. You need CIF for that.
    Hope this helps.

  • Network Drive Mount Unable to View Files

I recently purchased a Buffalo flexnet 1TB drive for my parents. Both of them use Windows, and mount works fine for the two of them. I, however, have two machines on which I use Arch. I'm having trouble mounting the drive on my own machines.
One, I named the drive netdrive, but when I try to mount it using mount -t cifs //netdrive/share /path/to/mount, it says it can't resolve address for netdrive. It works, however, if I use //hd-celu2-ed4a/share which is the default drive name. //netdrive/share works on the Windows machines, and I don't understand what's going on.
Two, if I do mount using the IP address of the default server name, it will successfully mount, but I can't see any of the files on the drive. If I do "touch test.txt", I can see the file on the windows side, but I can't see it form Arch. This is the same on both of my Arch machines.
How do I go about mounting this thing successfully, so I can view and edit file and such? Less important: how do I get it so that it mounts with the proper name? I would be plenty satisfied to have the answer to issue two with or without issue one solved.

Until someone knowledgeable about cifs and windows shares chimes in have a look at man mount.cifs.
Perhaps trying different combinations of user, password, uid, gid, etc may get things working.
