About compatibility with CS4

I ask, may i use Kuler on Photoshop CS4, is it compatible with CS4, thanks.

You mean that Kuler is there by default ?
I have nothing in my window/extension menu, except "connections"...
I haven't found any .mxp or .mxi extension for photoshop CS4 on adobe's website, neither on Adobe Exchange.
I'd really like to have Kuler integrated in Photoshop although Adobe says that we can get the extension for CS4, they don't provide any link to it on the dedicated Kuler's page, except the AIR widget, and a link to the kuler online tool.  (...or am i blind ?)
Does any of you guys have some tip to get it appear, or a direct link to download the .mxp or .mxi extension ?
PS : i'm on a french version of photoshop cs4 64bits, version 11.0.1.,

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?  What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible?  Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense?  I have an Epson R2000 printer.  Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion?  It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.

Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
    Adobe lists these requirements:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine.

  • CS6 compatibility with CS4?

Does CS6 have the ability to save backwards to InDesign file compatible with CS4?

CS6 can save .idml files that can be opened in CS4 (and it's now available as a command in boththe export and Save As dialogs).  You will lose any unsupported features, and the list of them will be huge, and you can expect the text to flow somewhat differently in CS4. Unless this is a very simple document, it probably will not be satisfactory.

  • Just purchased Z97 Gaming 7 and was wondering about Compatibility with RAM

    Hello there,
Just purchased the Z97 Gaming 7 MB and was wondering if it is compatible with the following RAM -
    Kingston HyperX 16 GB 1600 Mhz CL9 DDR3 HyperX Beast Desktop Memory Kit (2 x 8GB) - Intel XMP
    G.Skill 16GB Ripjaws X Dual Channel Memory Kit - Blue (2x 8GB, DDR3 1600MHz,1.5v, F3-1600C9D-16GXM, XMP Ready)
Corsair CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP Performance Desktop Memory Kit Black
Regarding the Kingston, the model number specified in the MSI compatibility list of this board is very similar to the ram I've listed.
Thanks in advance and feel free to share your opinion on the rams or if you recommend anything else.
    Thanks

It's too late for that.    OP inquired about Z97, this has taken a turn to a Z87 and a debate.
Seems you have a bit to learn about RAM speed and actual performance achieved. Over 1866 doesn't show much gain. Higher the speed the more you have to 'loosen' the timings, :: rest of quote snipped ::
Yes, I probably could learn a thing or two about memory I suppose.  I don't claim to be an expert on this subject.  But, I've built several systems (always with Asus boards...) for 15 years or so for myself, family, and friends.  I have a BS in computer science and masters in Electrical Engineering working in the SCADA/Control Systems field (look it up) so I do know a thing or two.  I've never had a problem till now, my first MSI board.
I'm not sure how responding to a thread, hoping a user’s experience with memory would benefit me, is "hijacking" a thread but call it what you will.  I don't recall too much of a debate except from you and the forum memory expert (not the GSKill guy, the other guy...) so back off.  Funny how MSI's recommended memory list(s) prominently mention GSKill as being compatible multiple times with my exact memory, the F3-17000CL9Q-16GBZH, being listed as well.  Yet, GSKill is up to something funny with their timings which benefit only Asus or whatever while causing problems on everyone else motherboards.
For future reference, I'm not claiming anything in particular (such as memory) is causing my system to crash.  I saw the forum sticky about GSKill memory and this thread which mentions GSkill.  Since I'm using GSkill, which I have for multiple system builds without issues in the past, I began to wonder about something.  After all, things do happen.  Perhaps I simply got some bad sticks or something.  It does happen regardless of brand/vendor.
For the record, I suspect the stupid Killer NIC, its driver, and/or system tray panel are to blame for my issue(s).  The more I think about this NIC, the more I hate it.  Give a boost to a specific app/game for better performance.  That's marketing BS.  All it does is give a specific app/game priority by purposely dropping performance of all the other apps so the designated process looks better relative to the other programs on the same system.  I call that false advertising and potentially something worse.
Time will ultimately tell where my issue is.
MSI may have lost a customer...
The best of everything to everyone here and enjoy the rest of the day,
    Chris

  • PS CS5 install compatibility with CS4 Design Premium

I am wanting to install PS CS5 Extended when I already have CS4 Design Premium (with PS CS4 extended) installed. Can I keep PS CS4 as part of the suite and simply install PS CS5 as well or is that going to create problems?

Yes, you can keep CS4 and install CS5.

  • OFFICIAL APPLE INFORMATION ABOUT COMPATIBILITY WITH EXPLORER

Hi,I have problems with incompatibility with IE 6+7. In my coutry is 80% people on IE. Every schools, iCaffe etc.Is very, very big problem with iWeb'08 - I make a lot of job but after this is result..........incompatible.Is some OFFICAL INFORMATION FROM APPLE about future plans compatible with IE? I'm looking for programs with similar function as iWeb - RapidWeaver, Sandvox etc. - but NEVER I see better program - iWeb is still my favorite, is nice design concept, maximum intuitive, and very user friendly Thank for your oppinion! Here are some tips I've gathered from this forum on how to make sites more compatible with IE.
1 - do not use and frames or borders, etc. around photos.
    2 - don't use any reflections.
3 - create your own navigation bar with linked text* and turn of the iWeb Navigation bar. That's because the nav bar is all png based.
*Put your linked text directly under the Navigation bar. Then turn off the nav bar in the Inspector window. The nav bar will disappear and the linked text will move up to the top of the page as seen in this screenshot.
4 - use only the web safe fonts from the Font pane.
5 - do not use drop shadow on fonts.
6 - turn off smart quotes
7 - if you add a jpg to a page don't resize it in iWeb as that will cause it to be converted to png. Resize it to what you need before adding to the page..
The above will reduce the number and size of files associated with a web page quite a bit. Photos with fancy frames and reflections can generate a thumbnail png of around 110KB whereas the plain version will be a jpg of only 28KB. Although it doesn't sound like a lot, it will speed up loading of the page and be more darkside (i.e. PC) friendly.
Run a test with a test site and publish to a folder. Then follow the hints above and publish to another folder and compare folders.
Also there's a site, netrenderer that you can paste your site's url into an entry field and it will display how the various versions of IE will display your site. I don't know how accurate it is but may give you an idea of where problems areas are.

  • A Question about Compatibility with Parallels

Hello, all. I wasn't too sure where to post this, and I saw someone else posted a Parallels question here so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. I have a MacBook Pro 15 Inch that I bought in May this year, and I was wondering if I could use Parallels to install Windows XP on it. I'm not sure if it will work because Apple apparently designed my computer to only work with Windows 7 if I were to install it through Boot Camp, but since I'm not really in the mood to shell out two hundred bucks for that OS, I was hoping I'd be able to just get Parallels and install Windows XP without any post-installation issues (like being unable to connect to the Internet and such, like the problems one would run into through a Boot Camp install if they didn't install the drivers). Could I use Parallels on my Mac instead of Boot Camp and install Windows XP?
Also, I have a minor question that I think I might already know the answer to, but I just thought I'd ask anyway while I'm here. Could Parallels Desktop 4 work with my computer?

               Yes.
Could Parallels Desktop 4 work with my computer?
Verify that you machine meets the below requirements:
Hardware and Software Requirements for Parallels Desktop version 4
    Hardware Requirements
Any Macintosh computer with an Intel processor (1.66 GHz or greater). To run 64-bit
operating systems in virtual machines, an Intel Core 2 or later processor is required.
Minimum 1 GB of memory, 2 GB of memory is recommended.
CPU must support  Intel-VTx Virtualization feature
Almost on all CPUs used in Mini Macs Virtualization is supported, but in several early Mac Mini models it may be disabled in firmware.
Please see article http://kb.parallels.com/en/5653 how to enable Intel VT-x Virtualization support.
Note: Your Mac must have enough memory to run Mac OS X and your Mac applications,
plus the memory required for the virtual machine's operating system and the applications
installed in it.   About 300 MB of disk space on the boot volume for the Parallels Desktop installation.
About 15 GB of disk space for each virtual machine.
    Software Requirements
Mac OS X Leopard v10.5.2 or later
Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.11 or later

  • Motherboard upgrade, question about compatibility with existing hard drives etc.

Hi, I currently have an K8N Neo2 Platinum socket 939 board, 2 gig of OCZ Platinum PC3200 DDR400 RAM, a Lian Li V1000 ATX case, an AMD Athlon 64 3000 processor, 2 Sata 1 hard drives and a TAGAN TG380-U01 380W power supply. All this stuff is from around 2005.
I'm thinking of upgrading my board to a MSI 870A-G54. Obviously I'll need new memory and a new processor, but my question is this - will I still be able to use the Lian Li case, and the Sata 1 hard drives/power supply with the above board? Also, does it have onboard graphics or will I need a dedicated video card?
    Thanks,

     Case, HDD - Yes
     Onboard graphics - No
PSU, maybe but probably not. Something with more power would probably be wise to get. What PSU you get would depend on the CPU & graphics card you get.

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ThinkPad_Advanced_Mini_Dock states that the dock from the z60t is compatable with the T400/500.  I am not sure about compatability with the T410/510.
The hard drive should be able to boot assuming you do not have any security turned on, however keep in mind XP is very finicky when it comes to hardware being changed and these two system will have significantly different hardware.  Most likely you will end up having to transfer the information off your old hd, which could be done with either a ultrabay hd adapter or an inexpensive USB adapter.

  • Is Adobe CS4 compatable with Lion?

Before I install Lion, I would like to find out what software is compatable, especially CS4 (photoshop illustrator InDesign, etc)

There is a link on the Adobe site that says something about 'they are working closely with apple' blah blah blah.  Are you using 10.7.2?  or 10.7?  I'd like to upgrade to a new MBPro but need to know if my software is going to work on it.  Anyone know if the .2 update has fixed the problems with CS4?  Thanks.

  • Mavericks compatibility with cs 4?

Any experiences about Mavericks OSX compatibility with Adobe CS4 applications (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator)?
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and was planning to upgrade to Mountain Lion in order to use iCloud. But more importantly I am worried of how other applications will work. Apparently Apple doesn't even sell Mountain Lion anymore.
I have Macbook Pro (late 2008/2009 model) with 4GB of RAM.
    Thank you!

Unfortunately, I discovered too late that Mavericks renders my CS4 dysfunctional. Like wsrphoto indicated, it won't open image files. It will open the Raw preview screen, but when you attempt to open a file from there... nothing. No image. Nor will it open jpgs. When you close Photoshop, however, it asks if you want to "save the file"... pointless.
My visit to the Genius Bar only resulted in them telling me my computer was fine and if I wanted to go back to Lion, I'd have to wipe my computer clean. Grrr!
It would have been nice for Apple - or Adobe -  to warn users that Mavericks would create this problem. It has profoundly disrupted my workflow and now I've either got to wipe my computer clean to downgrade back to Lion, or put out the money to buy CS6 - which I really didn't need. Not happy AT ALL.
Upgrades shouldn't be suggested only to end up creating problems...

  • Windows 8 and itunes 11 compatibility with an ipod

I have itunes11 and Windows 8. I've called Apple and I've talked to Microsoft. This was months ago. I can download itunes and run it from my laptop but am unable to sync my ipod. I get an error and it automatically reboots my computer. I was told there were known compatibility with itunes and Windows 8.  This was months ago.
I know how to downgrade itunes to XP or Win 7. This is not the issue. I can download to my laptop and place, it will not sync to my ipod device (which is a fear years old), but when I did talk to support I was told that it was supported. The ipod was not the issue.. It was the incompatibility between the programs.
I see recent updates in the support community in the past month about production resolution but this still has not resolved my issue. I don't believe purchasing a new ipod is going to resolve the issue either.
If anyone has successfully developed a workaround or recently downloaded itunes11 w/ Windows 8 and can sync to an apple ipod I would love to know how you did it.
    Kia
    [email protected]

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

  • SQL Server Express compatibility with Windows 8.1 - Which version(s) are compatible?

We have purchased a new computer that has Win 8.1 Pro. We are migrating an application from a Win 7 Pro machine we are currently successfully using (the vendor migrates it for us) and they have said that the application will require the installation of SQL
Server 2008 Express (which we do have on our Win 7 machine).
In looking at the requirements for SQL Server 2008 Express (on the download page for it), it does not mention it being compatible with Win 8.1
In addition, Installation Instructions  says that it requires:
     Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1
     Windows Installer 4.5.
     Windows PowerShell 1.0
I see that 3.5 is already listed as a program feature of Win8.1 and I've enabled it. Do I need to install SP1? I downloaded it, and launched it, and nothing happened.
I also looked at the Windows Installer 4.5 download page, and it's not clear if that is compatible with 8.1. Do I need to download and install it?
Power Shell 2.0 is already installed. I assume that will be backwards compatible with PowerShell 1.0; is that correct?
I saw another question about SQL Server Express Compatibility with Win 8.1 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/038ec00e-4fc1-41ba-9fdc-21c022aad67e/action?threadDisplayName=sql-server-express-compatibility-with-windows-81) and the response
said that SQL Server Express 2012 will work, but the link contained in the answer led to a page for SQL Server Express 2014.
My vendor has told me that SQL SERver Express 2012 will be backwards compatible with their product. But they said that I would first have to install 2008 first. Is that correct for Win 8.1?
    So, the ultimate questions are:
    1. What is the link for Sql Server 2012 Express for Win 8.1?
    2. Will the SQL Server 2012 Express download require prior install of the 2008 version
    3. What other component requirements are required for SQL Server 2012 Express, and how can I determine if they have already been installed. (This is a brand new computer with a clean Win8.1 Install).
    4. Finally, can we use the 2014 version of SQL Server Express for Win 8.1? If so, questions 1, 2 and 3 apply, too.
Thanks for your help on this!! HIGH ANXIETY.

    Hello,
The following article provides which updates are required to make SQL Server versions compatible with Windows 8 or 8.1:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2681562/en-us
    1. You can use the product updates feature on SQL Server 2012 to make it compatible with Window 8.1. Apply SP1 as described on the following
    article:
    http://www.sqlcoffee.com/SQLServer2012_0008.htm
    2. No.
    3. Download and install .NET Framework 4.0 and enable .NET Framework 3.5. For more information:
    http://www.sqlcoffee.com/SQLServer2012_0017.htm
    4. Yes, you can use SQL Server 2014 with Windows 8.1. Please refer to the Support article provided above.
    Hope this helps.

If so, then Flash is installed fine. Note, though, that Flash

  • Hyper-V Live Migration Compatibility with Hyper-V Replica/Hyper-V Recovery Manager

    Hi,
Is Hyper-V Live Migration compatible with Hyper-V Replica/Hyper-V Recovery
    Manager?
I have 2 Hyper-V clusters in my datacenter - both using CSVs on Fibre Channel arrays. These clusters where created and are managed using the same "System Center 2012 R2 VMM" installation. My goal it to eventually move one of these clusters to a remote
DR site. Both sites are connected/will be connected to each other through dark fibre.
I manually configured Hyper-V Replica in the Fail Over Cluster Manager on both clusters and started replicating some VMs using Hyper-V
    Replica.
Now every time I attempt to use SCVMM to do a Live Migration of a VM that is protected using Hyper-V Replica to
another host within the same cluster,
the Migration VM Wizard gives me the following "Rating Explanation" error:
"The virtual machine virtual machine name which
requires Hyper-V Recovery Manager protection is going to be moved using the type "Live". This could break the recovery protection status of the virtual machine.
When I ignore the error and do the Live Migration anyway, the Live migration completes successfully with the info above. There doesn't seem to be any impact on the VM or it's replication.
When a Host Shuts-down or is put into maintenance, the VM Migrates successfully, again, with no noticeable impact on users or replication.
When I stop replication of the VM, the error goes away.
Initially, I thought this error was because I attempted to manually configure
the replication between both clusters using Hyper-V Replica in Failover Cluster Manager (instead of using Hyper-V Recovery Manager).
However, even after configuring and using Hyper-V Recovery Manager, I still get the same error. This error does not seem to have any impact on the high-availability of
my VM or on Replication of this VM. Live migrations still occur successfully and replication seems to carry on without any issues.
However, it now has me concern that Live Migration may one day occur and break replication of my VMs between both clusters.
I have searched, and searched and searched, and I cannot find any mention in official or un-official Microsoft channels, on the compatibility of these two features.
I know vMware vSphere replication and vMotion are compatible with each otherhttp://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-55/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vsphere.replication_admin.doc%2FGUID-8006BF58-6FA8-4F02-AFB9-A6AC5CD73021.html.
Please confirm to me: Are Hyper-V Live Migration and Hyper-V Replica compatible
    with each other?
If they are, any link to further documentation on configuring these services so that they work in a fully supported manner will be highly appreciated.
    D

This can be considered as a minor GUI bug.
Let me explain. Live Migration and Hyper-V Replica is supported on both Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 Hyper-V.
This is because we have the Hyper-V Replica Broker Role (in a cluster) that is able to detect, receive and keep track of the VMs and the synchronizations. The configuration related to VMs enabled with replications follows the VMs itself.
If you try to live migrate a VM within Failover Cluster Manager, you will not get any message at all. But VMM will (as you can see), give you an
error but it should rather be an informative message instead.
Intelligent placement (in VMM) is responsible for putting everything in your environment together to give you tips about where the VM best possible can run, and that is why we are seeing this message here.
I have personally reported this as a bug. I will check on this one and get back to this thread.
Update: just spoke to one of the PMs of HRM and they can confirm that live migration is supported - and should work in this context.
Please see this thread as well: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsazure/en-US/29163570-22a6-4da4-b309-21878aeb8ff8/hyperv-live-migration-compatibility-with-hyperv-replicahyperv-recovery-manager?forum=hypervrecovmgr
