About:config in FF for Android

Hello,
I am using Firefox (version 32) on a rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 with Android 4.2.2.
I was trying to change some settings in Firefox using about:config, especially the suggestions in the urlbar from bookmarks/history. I set browser.urlbar.maxRichResults to 0, and browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled to false, but its still showing me lots of suggestions from my bookmarks as i start typing in the address bar and doing autocomplete. Setting the value of maxRichResults to another number like 1 also doesnt work.
I also made other changes in the about:config which were not adopted.
I tried restarting firefox (changes in the about:config are visible), I restarted my phone, wiped Firefox Cache, wiped Firefox data using Titanium Backup and tried it on the fresh Firefox, but the problem persists.
What am I doing wrong?
I really love firefox on my desktop, but if i cant make any changes in the about:config for mobile FF, then the search suggestions will drive me crazy. ;)
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I wasnt aware that those dont apply for FF for Android. I was trying to get rid of the URL Suggestions that pop up as soon as you start typing sth in the urlbar, sourced from your history and bookmarks. I disabled them in normal Firefox by using about:config so I was hoping it'd work here too, since there is no setting for it. Thanks for answering anyway.

  • Asking about Berkeley Database JE for Android performance !

    Hello,
    I try to test Berkeley Database Je for Android in the HCT Desire 1.
    I just try to put records to database and the rate is about 2000records per second. Is it normal? Is there anything else can work better in Android environment than Berkeley DB Je?
    The size of my database is about 10MB. But it took me about 2-3 mins to open the Environment. Do I set up somethings wrong?
    Thank for your help.

    Hi Charles,
    Re: Environment opening time.
    You're right. I tried close environment and it seems do not take any time to open again.
    Re: insertion speed.
    long start = System.currentTimeMillis();

         DatabaseEntry data     =     new DatabaseEntry();
         StringBinding.stringToEntry("data", data);
         for (int i = 0; i<100000; i ++){
                   IntegerBinding.intToEntry(i, key);
                   db.put(null, key, data);
         db.sync();
         long finish     =     System.currentTimeMillis()     -     start;
         System.out.println("Time " + " _ " + finish);
    It's my insertion method. And it took about 200000ms to finish. Is it normal?

  • Tried about:config does not owrk now NEWTAB facebook/twitter etc.list is my startpage and comes up with every tab PLEASE how do I disable this awful newtab

    I want to get rid of the newtab as my start page (homepage selected in options, but does not pan out)
    and it comes up with every link. I tried about :config/ about:newtab to about:blank. now it is WORSE because it is now the homepage too.

    Go to about:config, and search for 'newtab'. On 'browser.newtab.url', set the value to about:newtab. This is the default value.
    If this doesn't work, try resetting Firefox. All of your data will be saved, and Firefox will be reset to the defaults. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]

  • What is datareporting.sessions.current.activeTicks in about:config

    I'm wondering what the following about:config entries are for
    - datareporting.sessions.current.activeTicks (counting up in single increments every few seconds)
    - datareporting.sessions.current.totalTime (jumping up in the thousands every few seconds)
    - datareporting.sessions.previous.NNN (40 entries where NNN is currently numbered from 158 to 198)
    I'm concerned that data is being stored, updated and/or sent to a third party without my consent or knowledge. It also may be worth mentioning that Telemetry and Crash Reporter are both disabled in my Advanced Options.

    I'm reasonably happy with the info provided. Marking this one as solved 'cos Mozilla still seem to be doing things right even though their browser does some silly things sometimes.

    You can use these steps to disable the snippets and remove the snippets that are currently stored in the chromeappsstore.sqlite file.

    That button doesn't have a pref associated with it, so you can't disable that button with a pref on the about:config page or a lockPref call.

  • When the about:config setting for swipe are changed to allow changing tabs with swipe it does not repond and performs the default back and forward in browsing history action on the selected window instead of switching tabs. How do I get it to work?

    In about:config, the values I changed to for the preference name browser.gesture.swipe.left was Browser:PrevTab and for browser.gesture.swipe.right was Browser:NextTab.
    I have the latest synaptics touch pad on my laptop and it supports three touch swipe on windows pcs and on firefox. The about:config setting seem to be specific for MACs and so does not responds to windows changes.

  • When closing Firefox windows, I would like a warning before the last window closes. The about:config settings do nothing. There is a warning for multiple tabs..

    When closing Firefox windows, I would like a warning before the last window closes. The about:config settings do nothing. There is a warning for multiple tabs... why not for the last window? I do not use tabs... just windows... I have a mouse button programmed for that. It is really irritating to have to restart Firefox all the time and then open the history window because no warning was issued!

    This is ridiculous. I've had this problems for years now and I'm finally walking away from Firefox. I use my keyboards more than my mouse, and how many times does your finger slip and hit Command Q instead of W. How come FF can't reset something as trivial as this? So many people are having problems with this?
    Feels like FF has become too big, too slow and just not cooperative anymore. What a shame, I've been using Netscape/Firefox for 13 years. This is silly.

  • My favicons are not showing up for all my imported bookmarks as well as certain current bookmarks and when I open the about:config it says "browser.chrome.favicons;false". Shouldn't this be true and how to I change it?

    I had to rebuild my computer and when I imported all of my bookmarks they had no favicons. I started getting some of the favicons when I would go to the websight it would reconnect, but now I can't seem to see almost any of them. I did a search on Google and one tech site suggested the about:config file and that the "browser.chrome.favicons;false" should be set to true. But when I toggle it to true and restart Firefox it is once more set to false. I know it doesn't seem like much, but it is really annoying not having those favicons.
    Help me Obi Wan Firefox you are my only hope.

    The browser.chrome.favicons preference should be set to true, as it is not retaining the value when you restart Firefox, see the [[Preferences are not saved]] article for possible causes.

    How can I get the default value of a particular preference in FireFox?.
    I know I can see the default value for some of the preferences in about:config but, I need a programatic way to get the default value.
    I see some that there are values for preferences in firefox.cs but I am not certain that these are being used as the default values for preferences. prefs.js in user's profile only has the updated values and not the default values.
    Any help towards acheiving this programtically is greatly appreciated.
    If the default values are stored in a file, kindly let me know the format in which it is stored for me to parse it programatically.

    Dear Friend,
    Here when you have the callableSattement as ?=proc(?), the first ? is an output parameter. So you should register it as out parameter using registeroutparameter.
    Then you can get the value from the outparameter using callablestatement.getXXX().
    Try that way.

  • Am using Firefox 5.0.1, any new tabs open with a search engine for imvu and when I go to about:config there is no entry for browser.newtab.url that I can modify

    I am using Firefox 5.0.1.4205 with Windows 7 Home Premium Service pack1. My new tabs in Firefox open with a search engine for imvu rather than google as I would prefer. I can't find an answer to my problem so far because when I try the recommended use of about:config and finding browser.newtab.url; it is not listed. Is this version of firefox to old to have that, or is it just missing? What can I do to get my new tabs to open with a Google search engine. This is on my 80 year old father's computer so he is not likely to upgrade browsers as I would on my home computer. Thank you for any help with this.

    The new tab page (about:newtab) wasn't introduced until a later version of Firefox (iirc, ''Firefox 10'') , which is why that pref can't be found.
    Sounds like your father picked up some Malware.
    Maybe this is what you're dealing with.

  • Reset to 'default' for all printing functions in about:config doesn't work.

    I have followed the instructions for resetting FFox printer interface to "default", where it should normally be, to the letter: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages#Reset_printer
    The system keeps flipping all the printer settings back to "User". Somehow it went into "User" setting 2 weeks ago, and I was able to correct the problem for a few days by following the instructions on the web page above, resetting just the print.print_printer line, alone. Now, ALL the other "print" lines below this will NOT remain in "default" mode once I've closed the about:config page (tab), or closed the browser and re-opened it, under any circumstances. The problem manifests as: When I try to print, starting from ANY true print command location and finally clicking "OK" to begin printing, I get a small rectangular box saying only, " an unknown error occurred while printing". The box has one of those yellow triangular signs with an exclamation point in it, if that helps. There's no error no. If there's something about the WAY I'm supposed to close the about:config tab, and/or close the browser that is SPECIFIC, I hope someone here can tell me the way I'm supposed to execute this. Thank you.

    1) Any chance that printer shows as "offline" in the printers window in the Control Panel?
    2) Local or network printer?

  • How do I diable WebGL in Firefox 5.0. I tried the solution from the forum for FF4 but could not find "webgl" in about:config.

    Search using Firefox Help for disable WebGL returned the following question: How does one disable Webgl ? and a subsequent solution. Unfortunately, when trying to use the solution in FF5.0, it fails in step 3 when a "find" fails to locate "webgl". So, since there is a known problem with WebGL security in many browsers, how do I disable WebGL in FF5.0?

    The pref webgl.disabled (true) is still there on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.
