? about copying files from itunes to SD card

I've had these 2GB SD cards for a while and like to change what's on it from time to time. I deleted all the files on one and dragged a playlist from itunes onto the card. About 140 or so songs made it, but now I get an error whenever I try to add any other song (there is plenty of space left). Anyone know what could be wrong with the card or how to resolve this? Thanks.

ITunes is not changing the format of your tracks; if you're importing from CD it will only import as the format set in the importing preferences. If you want your tracks as MP3, set the Importing preference to MP3, select the tracks you want to copy, and use the Convert command under the Advanced menu (which will actually make a duplicate copy in the new format). Future CDs you import will also be imported as MP3 from then on.
Tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store are only available as copy-protected AAC. If you want them as MP3, the only way is to burn them out to an audio CD and then reimport them as MP3.
BTW, for future questions, try posting in the iTunes for Windows area. You'll normally be more likely to get a quick and accurate answer there than you will here in the iTunes for Macintosh forum.

  • Copying file from a Compact Flash Card or Epson Picture Viewer issues

I am a photographer and have been experiencing issues when trying to copy or move files from my compact flash cards or my viewer HD device. Both my Sandisk reader and the epson connect to my iMac through USB (rear ports) and during the copy process, I get messages that one of the files are in use, and the rest of the copy is aborted. Since the copy process doesn't work in a numerical or filename fashion, I have to look through each file that has been copied and try to identify which files were missed. The weird thing is that if I try to copy the file that was mentioned in use, it works fine
I am copying to a USB External drive, connected to my Airport Extreme. I've encountered the same things when the HD was connected directly to the iMac.
I am getting very frustrated with this process, and am looking for insight on how to make this go away, or at the very least, is there an application that will copy/move and verify the files before exiting? I can't help but think that I may have missed files here and there, and those files could be now lost memories.
    Any help would be appreciated

They'll record either while simutaniously recording to tape. I believe the HDV is in a .M2t format but I'm not sure about the DV file format. As for quality, your guess is as good as mine, I haven't had the chance to play with one yet.

  • Help copying files from iTunes to external hard drive

I have a bunch of music files (about 15,000 of them) that I want to back up to an external hard drive. They are only files of a certain bit rate, so I can't just locate them in a particular folder and copy them; I need to sort them in iTunes and copy them from there. I tried to highlight all of them and just copy them, but I got the spinning wheel for a couple minutes and then the operation stopped. I then figured out that I could transfer about 1,000 at a time -- I got the tracks by bands starting with A, then B, then C, to transfer. But now I am stuck. When I try to transfer files now, when I highlight them in iTunes, the window showing the destination folder on the external hard drive disappears, and I can't transfer them. Before, it seemed like both windows were active, but now they are not. Anyone know the solution to this?

The Windows drive is probably formatted NTFS which is not natively writable
by the Mac. It should be formatted as FAT32 to be usable on both.

  • Cannot copy file from desktop to media card

Whenever I try to copy a file from my desktop to my media card I get an error. When I use the desktop manager software I get the message 'one or more files cannot be copied: FILE_NAME'. When I use Windows Explorer to try the same thing I get the message 'Cannot copy FILE_NAME: parameter is incorrect'.
I do have a proper connection from the desktop to the blackberry because I can open files on the media card and update them. I just have the problem copying the files.
I have been able to copy the files from the desktop to the device memory. Then move it from the device memory to the media card. But there should be no difference between the device memory and the media card.
Note: The file I am trying to copy is a data file (.PDF). While I was having the same problem with music files, I found if I went into advanced parameters from desktop manager and specified the audio file type & bitrate I was able to copy the music file without errors.
    I have a blackberry curve 8300
    16GB media card

When I try to move the files from the Finder Window with the files on the DVD, I do not get the plus sign when I try to drag it to the desktop or any other window. Even when I try with the option key pressed, there is no plus sign with the mouse arrow. Someone suggested to use the terminal and I did. It was a hassle, though.

  • Can't copy files from iTunes to a folder on the desktop

I posted this in the iTunes board and received no responses, so I'm wondering if it's more of an OS problem.
I'm trying to clean up my iTunes library by taking out music I don't listen to that often. I created a folder on my desktop to store the music, should I decide to bring it back into iTunes in the future.
When I select certain groups of songs and drag them onto the folder, they refuse to copy. Some copy no problem, but others just won't go in the folder. The green circle with the plus sign comes up and the folder is highlighted, but when I release the mouse button...nothing.
Any idea why I can't copy the songs? BTW, none of the music is from the iTunes store, so it's not protected.

I run into that problem periodically. Usually it is because one song file has the same title as another song file (for instance, Knockin' on Heavens door, one by Dylan and one by Clapton, would cause the copy failure). While iTunes has no difficulty, the Finder does, refusing to copy two "identical" items to the same location. Copy in smaller batches, so you can eyeball and make sure each item has a different name. When you run into duplicate names, copy one to another folder and rename it (I append the artist's initials), then move it into your other folder.

  • I cannot copy files from Pages or Adobe Reader to or from iTunes 11

How do I copy files from iTunes to my iPad or vice versa?

Yes, actually it does. Many people haven't yet figured out the new default interface in iTunes 11. To get to the iPad information so you can sync, click the iPad button in the header bar at the upper-right:
Or go to the View menu and select "Show Sidebar" and the interface will then look substantially like it did in earlier versions. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

  • Nano3rdgen Copying playlist from itunes to ipod and it says it can't copy certain songs to ipod cos of file type. These problem songs all from same album, all ACC file type and all copied fine when I copied the album itself few weeks ago-help!

When copying playlist from itunes to nano3rd message comes saying 9 of songs can't be copied to ipod cos of file type. These 9 are all from same album, all ACC and all copied fine when I copied the album itselm some weeks ago.  Rest of playlist was ACC too.  P.S. album is a CD-R copied version-is this an issue? HELP I AM DESPAIRING!

I never laughed in all my life. Here I was, inserting the cd Dance with Me, thinking it's not going to copy the whole thing. yeah, right.
Sure, it prompted me, Do I want to replace the songs, so of course I said "no, don't replace the songs". and guess what it did. It copied the whole cd (at least I got my two songs).
I went into the itunes library, and sure enough, all the songs were there twice. So what did my intelligent brain think of? I just unchecked the doubled songs and stuck my ipod into my computer and it synched up and I got what I wanted.
Now what did I do wrong when it prompted me. I clicked on "don't replace" and it replaced them anyway.
Am I dumb? or is itunes stupid?
    thanks, Melody

  • Why Can't I Copy Files from an External Hard Drive or SD Card?

Major problem here... Why when I try copying files from an external hard drive or an SD card onto my internal iMac hard drive, it doesn't work?  The status bar that pops up, shows that it completes the transfer of the files to 100%; however, when it does in fact finish, the files actually do not appear on my hard drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  This is one of many problems I have been finding with OS X Lion and am very much on the verge of going back to Snow Leopard.
    Thank you.

Have u tried the usual? Safe boot. Delete finder plist files? etc. And the drives are formatted for mac yes?

How can i copy the music files from itunes in mp3 format to my PC

    Dr. P,
Song files are just files.  You can copy them the way you copy any other files, like photos or documents.
If any of the files are not already in MP3 format, and you wish to create MP3 versions, then you can convert them using iTunes, by following this guide:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550

I tried formatting with no success, because my computer cant read the disk! It is a PNY professtional 32gb sd card. I'm having similar problems and I'm using a 1Tb HDD ( USB connection) which has 3 partitions. I have discovered that after some time (not clear what triggers it) I start being unable to use one partition for backups. When I checked further I discovered that I cannot write any file no matter what size to it. The problem has normally disappeared for a while when I restart my computer. I've done disk verifies and things are fine. The other two partitions are Ok ... I use one for TimeMachine and the other for SuperDuper. This partition is primarily used for ChronoSync backups so I suspect that the problem is related to how ChronoSync backs up but I have yet to convince their tech support of that.

  • Moving instead of copying files from my camera

When I use Lightroom to move photos from my camera to my computer, I want it to automatically delete the copied files from my camera. How do I do this?

    MIDI Panic wrote:
It would be nice if the Lightroom developers would allow us to turn “ON” the ‘Move’ function for flash media in Preferences (maybe even with a pop-up warning that mistakes could result in lost files). That way Lightroom could be customized for more efficient workflows, less complexity for us consumers who are not so worried about the occasional lost import.
Good to hear! Two additional points against using 'Move' that no one has mentioned, and a few more tips:
    1) When using 'Move' to transfer your images from memory card to hard drive you lose the ability to perform even the simplest integrity check for file count and size. I always use Windows Explorer to compare the actual HDD file count and and folder size to that of the memory card contents. It only takes a few seconds!
    2) Letting LR delete individual image files puts additional stress on the memory card and takes additional time. Doing an 'in-camera' card format takes the least time, writes to the least number of memory locations (i.e. least stress), AND insures integrity and compatibility of card's the file allocation table.
    3) Don't forget to make a 2nd 'Copy' of your image files to a backup drive.
May your image files 'Live Long & Prosper!'

  • Can't copy file from Shared Folder

    Hi,
Does anyone here knows how to copy file from shared music. I can view others shared music but can't do anything about it. When I tried to Right Click on music I want to copy. There are only 3 options (Get info, Unchecked Selection & Copy). I chose copy, but don't know what to do next. I wanted to place it in my Library but don't have an option to do it.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

I've never copied music, but have you tried just dragging the file to your library? Not 100% sure if it works, never tried it myself. Also, if you right click in your library, can you paste?

  • How do I batch delete all my protected music files from iTunes.

Hi, in a moment of stupidity, while I was working on a backup folder of my friends files (from his broken computer - copied them to my PC so he could get them back onto his new PC) I managed to copy all of his songs from his iTunes folder into my iTunes library. I don't know how I managed to do this, maybe it was the fact that I was really tired at the time.
I own all my music - none of my music is copy protected (it is either downloaded from legal sites where the bands themselves [usually unknown or alternative artists] release their music, or I ripped the music from CD's I bought) and all of his music is copy protected.
Now thing is, I have upgraded my PC before realising I did this, so now I don't have the original iTunes library (formatted PC and reinstalled XP from scratch) - is there any tools out there that will find and delete all your copy protected files from iTunes?
I could go through song by song and when it comes up with the "Authorise computer - This computer is not authorised to play "******" Would you like to authorise it" and delete those songs, but as this is a very slow and time consuming process and considering I have 8,551 songs, I would prefer a faster way.
I would go and re-rip all the songs, as I have the original discs, but this would take very long, and put quite a bit of strain on my CD drive, and this would not account for all the songs I have spent years finding on the internet/demo songs from friends bands.
Any help is appreciated, as I would love to be able to remove all of his songs so they don't keep popping up in my iTunes library
    Thanks in advance.
    Dale.

I have never tried this and am not at a computer with iTunes, but can you delete from a Smart Playlist? If so, you could make a smart playlist that shows songs that are of kind Protected ACC. Then select all and delete from that playlist. But I am not so sure if you can delete from a smart playlist.
