About:downloads keeps opening when I save something

Whenever I save something (image, video, etc.) a new tab with the url of "about:downloads" opens.
Firefox has never done this before for me, and it just started about an hour ago. I have been searching for a setting that stops this, but I have found nothing that even mentions this.
I do not know what I did to make it start doing this, but whenever I try to save something, instead of the download manager arrow turning green like it always has, the about:downloads tab opens and switches to it. I save a lot of images from the internet, and having that same tab open every time I try to save something makes it almost impossible to work smoothly.
It is incredibly inconvenient, and unbelievably annoying.
Please help!

Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
*Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

• Firefox keeps crashing when I search something up on Google

Firefox keeps crashing when I search something up on Google. The homepage for Google works fine but once I search for anything, the program just freezes. Whats wrong? I am running the new Firefox 4.0, Windows 7 64-bit. This problem never happened with Firefox 3.6

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

If you have submitted Breakpad crash reports then post the IDs of one or more Breakpad crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx). Are you talking about IE's MHT or MHTML format for saving webpages in a single file format?
Dealing With The Resume Feature of Lion
Managing Mac OS X Lion's application resume feature.
If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.
It is possible to completely stop the Resume feature although I'm unconvinced that it is that annoying. Nevertheless see the following:
If you have not yet done so you must first make your /Home/Library/ folder visible. Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the following command line:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN. Quit the Terminal application.
In the Finder navigate to the /Home/Library/Saved Application State/ folder. Delete the contents of the folder. Back up to the /Home/Library/ folder. Select the Saved Application State folder. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Sharing and Permissions panel at the bottom click on the lock icon and authenticate. Set each of the listed entries to Read Only. Close the Get Info window.
Quit all open programs except the Finder (this is very important.) Next, navigate to the /Home/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ folder. Look for a .plist file with "com.apple.loginwindow." in the file name followed by some numbers in hexadecimal. Select the file. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window and in the Sharing and Permissions panel click on the lock icon and authenticate. Set each of the listed entries to Read Only. Close the Get Info window. If you also find a file with the same filename but with a last extension of ".lockfile," then you should delete it.
The above should eliminate the Resume feature system-wide. Note that any future system updates or upgrades will likely undo these changes. You will then need to repeat this procedure assuming there are no major changes in OS X related to it.

• Track ID keeps opening when watching a movie using the noise cancelling headset

When I am trying to watch a movie using the noise cancelling headset, the Track ID app keeps opening/starting and tries to identify the "track" I am listening to. I stop the recording and close the Track ID app down but it immediately opens again and this happens multiple times in a row. It stops after 10 or so attemtps and seems ok for a while but will do this again 5-10 minutes later. This also happened when I was listening to a 3rd party app which plays relaxing sounds. It seems to happen more often when there is loud background noise (on the train and someone opened the window), but Track ID has opened with out me starting it with very littel background noise... It is very annoying when you are trying to watch a movie or downloaded TV show etc.

• Why are some of my links not opening when I save a document as a pdf? They are opening in word.

The links are opening in microsoft word documents but when I save the document to a pdf some of the links are not opening. The links are containing % or lots of extra numbers. How can I prevent this from happening?

What is your operating system? Reader version? How do you convert to PDF?
You write that "some" of the links don't open; what's the difference with links that do open?

• My iPhoto keeps opening when I restart my computer

My iphoto keeps opening up when I restart my computer. Is there anyway for me to turn this off?

Sure
Do you have any FAT strorage devices attached to it? Is so unmount them or in the iPhoto preferences set actipon when a camera is connected to do nothing
Do you have iPhpoto set to launch on start up? Is so right click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock and under options uncheck that option
Do you have iPhoto in your list of programs to launch at login in the users and groups system preferences? If so then remove it
Was iPhoto running when you shut down and do you have the option checked to restart all programs ? If so quit iPhoto before shutting down or uncheck that option

• Finder keeps opening when starting up

When I start up my mac mini Os X 10.5.8 the finder window opens on my desktop almost every time. I have trashed the Finder preferences file already but it still happens. Also did the trick with the screen saver and background images as suggested in another thread but does not help. Anyone have the answer?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the" Finder window, given that there can be more than one such thing. What's in the window that opens? Do you leave a Finder window open when you shut down your Mac? Do you have any volumes set to mount at login?

• Registration box keeps opening when starting Photoshop

I installed Photoshop on my laptop running Windows 7. Each time I start Photoshop, a box opens up and asks me if I want to register the product. I went ahead and filled in the boxes and registered, however, the same registration box keeps opening each time Photoshop starts running. How do I stop this annoying box from opening again?

Let me guess, it's an older version of Photoshop, right?
You'll most likely get past it by doing the following:
Disable UAC, reboot Windows, run Photoshop from an Administrator account, then re-enable UAC and reboot again.
Some say just running Photoshop as Administrator will take care of the problem, but there are subtle differences between running an app As Administrator and running with UAC disabled.
Microsoft doesn't advertise it much, but the reason UAC can be disabled is that there are compatibility issues with older software than are worked around by doing so. If you choose to leave UAC disabled, you should read up on what UAC does for you and make sure you understand what additional precautions you should be taking to keep malware at bay.

• Aperture keeps opening when I put the iPhone in the Dock

How do I stop this, but enable Aperture to open when a card reader is connected?

That even happens when I insert a USB thumb drive but the only thing to do is to deactivate it completely from the Aperture preferences. That is what I did with the thumb drive. You will have to open Aperture, or iPhoto for that matter, manually and do the import.
I believe is not just the iPhone... is everything that has photos in it. Technical speaking, I am pretty sure your software can sort out what you connect to your computer and that would be a good recommendation to leave in the feedback section: to customize the action a bit further.

• Click 2 Staus King page keeps opening when I open a new tab. Why?

When in News.com site and I open an article a seperate window opens as Click2status king. I can have multiple windows open with this. Sometimes opening a new tab for a previous site also causes this to open. I am worried that this is not safe and somebody is monitoring my keystrokes. It has been happening for a few weeks. I have scanned with Kaspersky and no threats are found. The page is blank except for the header.

In the address bar type '''about:config''' then click on I will be careful set your''' browser.newtab.url''' preference to "about:newtab" .
To set it, right click on '''browser.newtab.url''' then click on Modify and set the value and save it.

• My downloads keep pausing when my display goes to sleep for a while! How do I stop this?

I use a MBP retina and my computer settings don't allow it go to sleep. Yet, everytime I download something I have to sit with it or else it stop when I go away for five minutes.

Out of curiousity, in your power settings do you have it so that just your hard disk is put to sleep if the computer is idle? I think I had a similar issue a while back on WIndows that was caused by that one setting. I don't use a mac so I am not sure if the same thing applies.

• Reader doesn't auto open when using save as in Word2007

Can anybody help with this little problemette !
I originally had Adobe Reader 9.2 that would open automatically when I created a PDF from Word2007 using the Save as command.
But now it won't open automatically.
I (maybe stupidly) installed Adobe Reader 5 to try to open an old PDF that I was sent, but unistalled it when I discovered that the file was corrupt.
Now when I try to create a PDF using Word2007 running on Window Vista, Adobe Reader 9.2 will not launch automatically.
Any thoughts ?
Cheers
Sean
