  • SQL*Loader Error Field in data file exceeds maximum length", version 8.1.6

    Hi All,
    I am trying to load a data file into a database table using SQL loader. I
    received the data in an data file but I saved it as a pipe delimited
    file.
    When I run the SQL Loader command no records are loaded - looking at the log
    file I get the following error:
    Rejected - Error on table FARESDATA, column FANOTESIN.
    Then I tried with substr and doesnt seem to work for values greater than 4000 chars, it only works if the field value is below 4000 chars (say doing a substr for first 3000 chars).
    see the code--------
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'p.dat'
    APPEND INTO TABLE PROSPECTUS
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    Fanotesin char(4000) "substr(:fanotesin,1,4000)"
    We get the error ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column when using substr for 4000 chars.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    I believe the problem here is that the ORACLE database regards anything > 4000chs as a CLOB (or LONG). 4000 is the maximum length of a varchar2 field in the database, although of course you can declare larger values in PL/SQL. (Since the incoming data is > 4000 chs it is regarded as a LONG and you cannot therefore use SUBSTR on it)
    I think that you must either truncate your data before loading or load into a table with the offending field as a CLOB (or LONG)
    and then use PL/SQL to recreate it in a table with a varchar2(4000) which is otherwise identical. (You can select from a LONG into a varchar2(32000) for example and then truncate before writing out to the new table).

  • ORA-01242: data file suffered media failure: database in NOARCHIVELOG mode

    Hi All,
    Need help from the gurus.
    Currently we are in state unable to do anything.
    Was using a database and all of a sudden it crashed. Tried to mount the database, open it, it failed. Also tried the recover and alter database open, even that failed. Errors are as follows.

    In my spfile, the administrator has set only two control files and there is no mirroring and hence do not have another control file that will help me boot the db.
    Please let me know how I should go about it. I am only a timebeing person trying to carryout a db activity. Any help would be of great help.

    Hemant,
    thanks for the reply.
    I tried the way you suggested and it threw an error.
    ORA-01145: offline immediate disallowed unless media recovery enabled
    I searched and found that an additional tag of drop needs to be added to the command which you suggested.
    ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '<filename>' OFFLINE DROP.
    i don't know what will the drop command have an effect ?
    i have copied the data file to another location. Since i don't know much, i just want to be sure of what im doing.
    if the above command is successfull, will it drop the datafile or the tablespace and i can no more use it. How can i use the copied datafile.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

  • Error: ORA-16532: Data Guard broker configuration does not exist

    Hi there folks. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
    Anyways, we have a 10.2.0.4 rac primary and a 10.2.0.4 standby physical standby. We recently did a switchover and the dgbroker files automatically got created in the Oracle_home/dbs location of the primary. Now need to move these files to the common ASM DG. For this, I followd the steps from this doc:
    How To Move Dataguard Broker Configuration File On ASM Filesystem (Doc ID 839794.1)
    The only exception to this case is that I have to do this on a Primary and not a standby so I am disabling and enabling the Primary(and not standby as mentioned in below steps)
    To rename the broker configuration files in STANDBY to FRA/MYSTD/broker1.dat and FRA/MYSTD/broker2.dat, Follow the below steps
    1. Disable the standby database from within the broker configuration
    DGMGRL> disable database MYSTD;
    2. Stop the broker on the standby
    SQL> alter system set dg_broker_start = FALSE;
    3. Set the dg_broker_config_file1 & 2 parameters on the standby to the appropriate location required.
    SQL> alter system set dg_broker_config_file1 = '+FRA/MYSTD/broker1.dat';
    SQL> alter system set dg_broker_config_file2 = '+FRA/MYSTD/broker2.dat'
    4. Restart the broker on the standby
    SQL> alter system set dg_broker_start = TRUE
    5. From the primary, enable the standby
    DGMGRL> enable database MYSTD;
    6. Broker configuration files will be created in the new ASM location.
    I did so but when I try to enable the Primary back I get this:
    Error: ORA-16532: Data Guard broker configuration does not exist
    Configuration details cannot be determined by DGMGRL
    Form this link,(Errors setting up DataGuard Broker it would seem that I would need to recreate the configuration....Is that correct ? If yes then how come Metalink is missing this info of recreating the configuration... OR is it that that scenario wouldnt be applicable in my case ?
    Thanks for your help.

    Yes I can confirm from the gv$spparameter view that the changes are effective for all 3 instances. From the alert log the alter system didnt throw u pany errros. I didnt restart the instances though since I dont have the approvals yet. But I dont think thats required.

    I think it has to do with data format.Exactly.
    You have

    I replace each space with an asterisk. You have 5 columns according to your spec (terminated by '<space>')
    SQL Loader doesn't know that M.E. Deals is the supplier name.
    It's trying to convert 7 as the date.

  • Error ORA-01251: Unknown File Header Version while restoring db from backup

    Hi all,
    SO: Solaris 10 (installed in a zone in Solaris 11)
    DB: 9.2.0.6
    We are facing the error stack below when trying to recover a 9i database from a previous full backup:
    ORA-01110: data file 28: '/u01/app/oracle/9.2/db/oradata/datafile28.dbf'
    ORA-01122: database file 28 failed verification check
    ORA-01110: data file 28: '/u01/app/oracle/9.2/db/oradata/datafile28.dbf'
    ORA-01251: Unknown File Header Version read for file number 28The datafile28 was successfully restored from the full backup to the location specified in the RMAN script. We executed the dbverify utility on the datafile28, but no corruption was detected. We also brought the datafile to the offline state and then re-executed the RMAN script, without success.
    What do you think can be causing this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Problem solved.
    The issue was related to the names of the datafiles. We had some datafiles with the same name in different raw devices, and when trying to restore these datafiles to the same mount point, the error was raised. To solve, we restored some datafiles to a different mount point, keeping the original name from the source.

  • Outlook 2010 Sending' reported error (0x8004010F): "Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

    I recently moved my outlook directory to a different drive as my C: drive was getting full.
    Everything went smoothly except for now I cannot send emails from any of my addresses with the error "Sending' reported error (0x8004010F): "Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'" that I've associated with outlook.   Recently I
    uninstalled all of Microsoft Office (student) and reinstalled it on the new drive, still getting the same error.  I've tried following the steps at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2659085/en-us
    but when I go into the Control Panel to click on Mail (in this case Mail (32-bit) even though I run a 64-bit OS), the icon in the control panel is a piece of paper (leading me to believe it's broken) and when I click on it, nothing happens.  I don't
    mean my screen flickers or even thinks about doing anything with the swirly circle cursor... it does absolutely nothing.

    Hi Stintedvisions,
    Generally,
    “0x8004010f: Outlook data file cannot be accessed” error is occurred due to wrong configuration of Outlook profile. And as you said that you have been trying all Microsoft methods to resolve, but it’s still not working, then you should use
    the inbuilt utility of Microsoft called scanpst.exe. It can identify the bug and repair Outlook in minutes of times.
    Thanks

  • About error ORA-01221

    Hi,
    I am an student completed Oracle DBA working in small firm as Junior Oracle DBA.
    I got an error ORA-1221 can you please send me the details description how to correct this problem.

    During Installation ?
    Here below an extract from the online Error Documentation :
    ORA-01221: data file string is not the same file to a background process
    Cause: When the database writer opens the data file, it is accessing a different physical file than the foreground doing the recovery. The timestamp set in the file header by the foreground was not found by the background. It may be that the background process could not read the file at all.
    Action: Look in the DBWR trace file for the error it recieved when attempting to read the file header. Reconfigure the operating system as needed to have the file name successfully access the same file when opened by a background process.
    Now, if you want to explain us why you post into Installation forum, then what's your OS, what's your Oracle version, what're the error circumstances...
    Nicolas.

  • ERROR: validate with data file failed

    Hi,
    We are using SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP08(Admin & client). We are trying to load transaction data from BW actual cube to BPC application for which we have written the following transformation file.
    *MAPPING
    CATEGORY=*NEWCOL(ACTUAL)
    P_ACCT2=MVAL(0RECTOTSTCK|NEWCOL(PRODQU))
    P_DATASRC=*NEWCOL(INPUT)
    MATERIALBW=0MATERIAL
    RPTCURRENCY=0LOC_CURRY
    TIME=0CALMONTH
    SIGNEDDATA=0RECTOTSTCK
    *CONVERSION
    TIME=Conversion for IM Actuals.XLS!CONVERSION
    We want to map BW keyfigure 0RECTOTSTK (production quantity) to PRODQU - a member of the dimension P_ACCT2. And also we want to load the data from that key figure into our SIGNEDDATA field in BPC.
    We have validated and processed the conversion file without error, but getting the following error while validating definition of the transformation file:
    "ERROR: validate with data file failed"
    Can you please help on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Appu

    Issue was resolved.We were trying to load data from the cube 0IC_C03.However, that cube had some non-cumulative key figures. BPC 7.5 SP08 does not allow data to be loaded from BW cubes having non-cumulative key-figures to BPC Cubes.This is a bug which will be rectified in SP11 according to SAP.
    Since we needed only 0RECTOTSTCK which is a cumulative key figure we created a separate BW cube and loaded it from 0IC_C03 using only the necessary cumulative key figures and other dimensions.We then used the new cube to load data into BPC cube and it worked.

    Thanks, George. When I try to bin the data (using a modified version of the dmocdemo.java), I get the following error
    Failure Description: ORA-44002: invalid object name
    Details -
    I'm trying to cluster data in my table (see desc below) based on values of evt_hostname, evt_key and evt_username;

    xformTask = m_xformTaskFactory.create(buildDataXform);
    executeTask(xformTask, "ocPrepareBuildTask_jdm");
    The executeTask() function tries executing the task, but returns with

    Any insight/help will be greatly appreciated.

  • XML SELECT error ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting enti

    Apologies, If I have to open a new thread. I have a similar problem and would be grateful if you can help:
    Created a view based on an xsd. View works fine. However when selecting data from the view, the xml output is scrambled. On search found there is a pretty print function which can be added when creating the view: .extract('/*') as:
    ).extract('/*')
    as RBid
    from Balit_Submissions bs
    Again the view gets created successfully. But when doing the same select from it get the error:
    ERROR:
    ORA-01830: date format picture ends before converting entire input string
    I have narrowed it down to the .xsd definition of the tag: <xsd:element name="CreationDateTime" type="ecc:MessageDateTimeType">
    In the view, CreationDateTime is selected as follows:
    ,XMLelement("CreationDateTime",xmlattributes(to_char(bs.creation_datetime,'yyyy-mm-dd"T"hh:mi:ss"Z"') as "v"))
    where the column bs.creation_datetime is Oracle data type DATE.
    The MessageDateTimeType is defined in Oracle as a timestamp.
    Any hints to overcome this.
    Using: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.5.0 - Production
    I will paste the full .xsd and view if required.
    Thanks
    James Sathiaraj
