About Flash Cs3
It is said that the video component in CS3 can show captions.
Is it true? And can it add captions? Or have use another software
or to do this?(Except cuepoint + as + XML solution)

We won't know all the features in full till official release.
All the info you got is what we got.

[ANNOUNCE] Adobe statement about Flash CS3 and future components
All,
Since the CS3 launch there have been many questions regarding
components. What happened to my favorite components, for example.
Is Adobe going to be developing any more components?
After much discussion Richard Galvan has posted a blog
regarding this topic. I know it's been a long time coming, and we
appreciate the patience.
http://blogs.adobe.com/rgalvan/
If you have any questions please post them to Richard's
blog.1) Every post I see that you have made recently reflects on problems that are most likely associated with your computer that are causing problems with your software. 1st thing I would look at with your problems (and I do not mean just this one) is a conflict with another program, ei antivirus software, etc. Trying turning off programs one by one, relaunching your CS programs, and see if you can find a culprit.
2) With that kind of attitude you are only going to receive just as friendly/helpful solutions. Just because SOMEONE ELSE doesn't solve YOUR problem does not mean that THEY are ignorant. -
How to add special characters in Flash CS3
Hi, i need the help of some flash guru… these last weeks we were working with cloversites.com to build a community website… the interface is awesome etc etc however we in Malta have eight special characters (GCZ with a dot on top of them and an H with a second strikethrough). Those at cloversites wrestled with the problem, they could see the characters on their computers but when they entered the text in the site, flash couldn't render the special characters. Here is their message:
I am extremely sorry about this, but we were unable to add in your characters. We attempted to add them into our software but they did not work. We worked on it all morning and realized that we need an extra add-on for our keyboards. Adding special characters is nothing new to us and have answered this request for many of our international users. For some reason, the Maltese characters did not work in our sites. For example, our "option-G" is the copyright symbol so it will need to be transferred over to international characters.
Unfortunately, we thing that this has to do with Adobe Flash CS3. The software allowed me to embed the characters, but we were unable to render them on the web. Which led us to think it had to do with the version Adobe is running and its inability to render the text through its software on the web. None of the characters worked on the web, and it looks like its just an Adobe bug. So we are able to type and use the Maltese characters, but Adobe Flash is having trouble with them.
Does anybody know of any possible solution?see if codepoints-to-string() is suitable for you ..

How to creating a web banner in Flash CS3?
Hi all,
I'm very new to Flash CS3. Can anyone give me a step-by-step
instructions on how to make a banner for a web-site? Or a link were
i can find step-by-step instructions?
I have googled it but found no real help. I have tryed
"Youtube" hoping to even fine any one (most likely a child) with
directions on how to do this. Funny thing is that it seems most 8
year olds are better at Flash CS3 than I am & i'm 45.
Anyway, if you can help please make it simple or for the
simple minded. :)
Thanks to all!!
BJI understand your pain...I just posted a similar request
earlier today for help but finally figured it out on my own. I've
done lots of searching online and used Adobe's Flash Classroom in a
Book and also took an online ed2go class and I still don't have a
good handle on Flash. Nothing seems to give clear step by step
directions on animating images for web banners. You just have to do
a lot of trial and error. These websites may help if you don't have
time for the classes:

Can't get rid of Flash CS3 Trial !
I did a search first, no real solutions in prior posts that I
could see. Searched the rest of Adobe too.. no solutions found that
apply.
In January I downloaded and installed the Flash CS3 Trial.
I'm not going to buy it, so now that the trial has expired, I want
it OFF my machine. I ran it thru the usual Add/Remove Programs.
Well, my machine rebooted (I was doing something else at the time
and never did see any prompts to reboot from the installer
program), but when it came back up the Flash CS3 trial
was still there ! So, I tried the add/remove again - only
this time the only thing it would uninstall are the Flash Player
and the Flash Player 9 ActiveX component ! NO choice to get rid of
the actual program.
What do I have to do to get this program OFF my hard drive ?
There's no other uninstall program, the add/remove programs is
useless, and the only thing even close for getting rid of it was
some CS3clean script - which was apparently meant for deleting the
early BETA versions.
How can Adobe NOT supply an uninstall mechanism other than
add/remove programs - most other software I've ever used does
!!Thanks, wasn't sure about that. It's not a problem, Flash CS3
is the ONLY CS3 product on my machine. I have Studio 8 currently
installed, and CS2 Suite too, so hopefully that won't be trashed. -
Problem Installing Flash CS3 Pro PLEASE HELP!!
I have downloaded the installer for about the 3rd time i
extract it all right but when i run the setup.exe its all fine
until it starts to install but then it says something like " insert
Adobe Flash CS3 Professional to continue" i keep trying but it
never works i even converted the folder to a .iso and mounted it
with the same name it told me but that still doesn't work. I have
run out of ideas please if anyone knows the problem please can you
help me out?FYI: "Br" is the Bridge application - try launching that to
see if it fully installed.

Flash CS3 hard crash on Debug Movie
I've logged this bug but wanted to post it to the boards in
case anyone else is having this same problem. It's been going on
since I purchased Flash CS3 pro and has been really crippling my
development workflow because I can only get the debugger to work
maybe 1 in 4 times.
I also tried reinstalling the latest Java hoping that might
help as the bug referenced Java.
******BUG******
Concise problem statement:
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Debug Movie (Flash CS3 IDE) with licensed off-the-shelf
Flash CS3 Pro.
Notes: "About Flash" shows version as: 9.0
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3\Flash.exe properties
shows version as 9.0.0.494
http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html
"Adobe Flash Player Update for Flash CS3 Professional (9.0.2)"
never seems to "take" no matter how many times I apply it and
restart.
Results: Immediate crash of Flash IDE
And unable to re-open Flash IDE by clicking on an FLA file or
Flash Shortcut, which give the message "Windows cannot find
'[filename]' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try
again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click
Search." Must restart or logout in order to be able to open Flash
again.
Expected results:
No crash, debugger should work.

I am having similar problem for the last 6 months!! -
Help!! Flash CS3 and CS4 "Test Movie" very slow on OS X
This is a problem that, having read many forums, affects a
very large amount of people, though Adobe doesn't care at all. It
only affects OS X users. I know that it has been addressed many
times in different forums, but I never actually stumbled across
anyone having found a solution.
When I use Flash CS3, and I make any animation, even the
simplest tween, and I preview it with Test Movie, the result I get
is an extremely slow playback. Something like half the FPS it
should be.
However, when I export the SWF and preview it in the external
Flash Player or in a browser, it's just fine and fast.
Another interesting thing is that in CS3, when I open the
Help panel, the problem with Test Movie only happens like 20% of
the time. In that case, it only gets solved if I restart or Log Out
at least. I have no idea why the Help panel being open solves the
problem, this only shows that this is probably a little graphic
user interface bug, or something similar, that could be solved very
very easily.
In Flash CS4, there is no Help panel, so there is no solution
to the problem.
It would be nice to be able to press Cmd + Enter to see the
movie, and not have to do File > Export > bla bla bla, open
Finder, Find the SWF, double click it, wait for the browser to
open... etc...
I have a brand new 2.5 GHz MacBook Pro, and Test Movie runs
faster on my 900MHz Pentium III PC!! Funny...
Here are some links I found about this problem:
http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-878
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb407896
http://www.kirupa.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-258991.html
This is quite ridiculous, and on Adobe's Support page, the
solution is "Do not use Test Movie."
And the funny thing is that they didn't even bother to fix
this in CS4...
So basically if something doesn't work, Adobe's solution is
"Don't use it."
I guess they're right!
Please, tell me if anyone has or does not have this problem
or knows anything about it!
Thanks,

Flash CS3 / Adobe products: crashes or acting erraticly
HI -
I recently posted a thread conserning Flash CS3 deleting the
contents or erroring out my built and working .fla's and .swf's
apon opeing them to edit the .fla's.
Suspected a virus - scanned etc etc.
an Avast boot scan showed a corrupt cab archive avast error
#42127 on a boot scan for a DW20.exe adn 4 or 5 other cab
archives... thes are all related to Visual Basic C# - the DW20 .exe
is for error reporting to MS about crashes. - thsi may be an "avast
error" - but no viruses detected.
I checking my WinXP error logs for a further clue they showed
at the time of Flash CS3 crashing when trying to preview - it was
due to FFMpeg.exe
is this something that flash implements in importing a video
file or perhaps a mpeg?
When these crashes started, i was attempting to import a .wmv
(- which btw - i thought past flash 8 there was no problems with -
it now asks for Direct Show to be installed or Quicktime.?? Maybe
someone can give an answer to this as well My understanding was
that past Flash 8 - this was no longer nessasary - if this is true
- any thoughts as to why CS3 is asking me to install these products
to import or encode a wmv file?
Back to topic: Since attempting to bring in the wmv video
and/or mpeg audio and/or the flv i was experimentiing with
- Flash not only crashes on me when attempting to open any
.fla now.
- but also destroys or corrupts all other .fla's and .swf's
in the same file folder as the one i'm working on.
My questiion is - since ffmeg is not a win exe - is this
something that Flash implements in it's importing of a video or
audio file? or at all.
I have 12 error event crashes listed from Flash - all list
the same:
" faulty application ffmeg.exe
- faulty module: ffmeg.exe
- fault address 0x001be5e3
- event id:1000
anyone have knowledge on how to fix this or what may cause
this -
I mentioned the cab errors because i'mm not sure if one is
related to the other - i had C# installed but removed it from the
comp.
as mentioned in my other post related to this - Photoshop
Lightbox is also acting complety crazy as well - all adobe products
are the ones seemly - that i know of or noticed thus far - the only
products acting up.
I need this issue fixed - as i have to finish my fla! lol
I'd much rather be doing that than trouble shooting crashes
from Flash or other Adobe products acting up.
Any help would really be appriciated since this goes beyond
my skills and knowledge.
thanxSure wish I had a quick fix, but it will take more info than
what you have entered. I was having a lot of trouble also, until I
did the 5 tasks listed below.
1. Is there enough memory for Flash CS3? Setup tells you how
much and if you have enough to install the program.
2. Is there enough storage space for Flash CS3? Again, Setup
tells you how much it needs and if ;you have enough to install the
program.
3. How many files do you have on your hard disk? The amount
of directories and files on your hard disk matters a great deal
when you are installing new programs. I usually go through my c:\
directory and get rid of programs I don't use. I try to keep my
folders and files at the lowest I can get away with.
4. When was the last time you cleaned and defragged the
registry?
This matters a great deal too. If you have an overabundance
of empty registry keys, etc. it can hang up your computer too. I
use RegCure, it's a great program.
5. When was the last time you did a defrag on C:\? Many
people don't realize that just these 5 tasks can have a bad effect
on your hard drive.
It would be a great thing if you uninstall Flash CS3, do
tasks 1-5 and then reinstall Flash CS3. Seems like a lot of work,
but it is extremely important to keep your computer running at its
best.
hope this helps.

[Flash CS3] Resolution Issues
Hello, I've been trying to piece together a FLA for the past few days now, only to encounter problem after problem. I've managed to overcome all but one problem I have been experiencing in Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, being a resolution problem.
I've drawn 796 frames for a flash animation in Photoshop CS3 Professional using a graphics (drawing) tablet, saving them as a .JPG. Would have been smarter to use .PNG, but wasen't thinking straight at the time. After importing the files into the library 100 at a time to prevent a crash, I adjust the flash window to be 1176x894, two pixels short both width and height wise when compared to the files I will be using for the animation. This is to get rid of a tiny white line, as the files don't drop perfectly onto the flash even if they are the exact same resolution. So I plop on the cover for the animation, hitting F6 nine times to make nine extra frames for the intro. F7 for a new, blank keyframe, drop on the first (second really) frame of the animation itself...and it's not the same size.
Note that both the cover and all frames are the exact same resolution, 1178x896 with the flash being 1176x894. It shrinks anything that isn't the cover, also a .JPG, by about 65% the normal size. There appears to be no way to adjust the frames, so down goes the flash unless I really want to make it much smaller. If anyone knows a solution to this problem, I would MUCH apperciate it. :-)Okay the most important lesson here is that when you are doing something like this test a few before you do all of them.
Well I have no idea. I was going to say that you probably saved the jpegs at a different resolution. Flash expects 72 dpi. Of course that is possible that you have different resolutions.
Also I've never had a problem where the pixel dimensions aren't what they are supposed to be. So you probably have something else going on here.... -
Flash CS3 versus Dreamweaver CS3! Or Other??
Hi all,
i am about constructing a profoshionnal web site...
and i don't know the best and more wide and advanced software doing that,
i am ezitated between Adobe Flash CS3 and Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 ??
Please advise me,
ThanksDreamweaver and Flash are different, but complimentary, tools. They do different things.
I would say that if you're not not familiar enough with Flash to judge how well it might work for you, then you're better off putting Flash to the side and worry about a tool like Dreamweaver for now.
Dreamweaver has many competitors, but you're unlikely to find any to match it for production work. However, for iTunes U, the tough part is getting your transfer CGI working -- that is your biggest concern -- and neither Flash nor Dreamweaver is going to help you much in that department. Best to concentrate on getting the transfer CGI working, in my humble opinion. 'Course no harm in learning Dreamweaver while doing so. -
Problem openning + setting up Flash cs3 trial
I get an error when i open ADBEFLPRCS3_WWE.EXE (Flash cs3 )
this is the picture:
My
Error i get when i open the Flash cs3 setup, please click image to
get a better view.
And please zoom in to the picture to see the error ( just
click the image)
It comes up with an error! Ive already downloaded flash mx
2004 and flash 8.
Hopefully you can help! The fix: Change the namespace on the second line of <project root>/src/ANESampleTest-app.xml
FROM: <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/3.6">
TO: <application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/13.0">
A brief and incomplete background:
The file <project root>/src/ANESampleTest-app.xml is the ‘application descriptor file’. When using the project files downloaded with the tutorial (that contained the 3.6 reference), the builder did not find this compatible with the configuration on my computer (a trial version I installed today - 5/3/2014 - and patched according to the tutorial). I never did figure out how to lookup valid namespaces and am still confused about how all the sdk’s relate to each other. I stumbled upon this solution by creating a fresh new project and found that the namespace specified by the new project wizard was “13.0” on this line of this file. -
Is flash 8 pro or flash cs3 better
I am about to buy either flash 8 or cs3 so can some one help

Using Flex components within Flash CS3
I'm new to Flex and I enjoy all of the components that it has
to offer, but I am wondering about their availability within Flash.
My plan is to make a highly animated and interactive menu and
I have reached a point where I have to ask two questions:
1. Is is possible to use any of the Flex components within
Flash CS3?
2. If the first is not possible, then if I make my menu and
specify "containers" within the Flash file then is it possible to
populate these "containers" with Flex components by making the
Flash (.swf) file of my menu into a Flex component itself? No, Flex components cannot be used in Flash 8.

More FMS & Flash CS3 not loading FLV
I consider myself an intelligent fellow, but getting Flash
CS3 to stream vis FMS is killing me. I've read the posts here where
people are describing similar situations. I've read several
websites that show kinda similar methods of getting this done, but
none are working! The docs on FMS & CS3 are like in an infinite
loop "see AS2.0/3.0 documentation on how to stream videos" &
when you get there "See FMS documentation on how to stream
videos"!!
I've read this & did it all, no dice:
http://www.mcalister.cc/ddd/flv/index.html
Read this which linked me to above, no dice:
http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/8/main/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveD ocs_Parts&file=00003495.html
Here is my config:
SERVER running FMS2, Windows Server 2003, IIS6, offsite, but
am able to RDP in.
File structure:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server
2\applications\ForRentFlash\streams\small\Cosmo_Small.flv
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server
2\applications\ForRentFlash\main.asc (sole content being:
load(components.asc))
Where: ForRentFlash = appName
small = instanceName
Flash CS3 development locally & testing movie produces
WHITE SCREEN.
Component Inspector for FLVPlayBack AS3.0 dropped on stage:
Source Content Path:
rtmp://1.2.3.4/ForRentFlash/small/Cosmo_Small.flv (of course with
correct IP)
No matter how I go about this, I end up with: FAILED TO LOAD
rtmp://1.2.3.4/ForRentFlash/small/Cosmo_Small.flv.
Port 1935 was opened on the firewall of the remote
server.Try placing your flv files in a _definst_ directory.....
Here is how mine are set up:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash Media Server
2\applications\aniridia\streams\_definst_\V032v.flv
I don't use any .asc files, but I'm fairly certain that they
would be in the root of the " aniridia " directory (which is the
application), rather than in the " aniridia\streams\_definst_ "
directory.
My videos would not stream until I put them in the _definst_
directory.
I use an xml playlist with my flv player to call my videos.
My stream syntax looks like this:
rtmp://mydomain.com/aniridia
Don't reference the flv file name.
Good luck!
