? about front audio connections

How do I connect my front panel to my board ?
Front I/O ports (audio)
4 - Line Out FR (RED) right channel audio signal to front panel
5 - Line Out RR (blue) right channel audio signal return from front panel
6 - Line Out FL (white) Left channel audio signal to front panel
7 - Line Out RL (yello) Left channel audio signal return from front panel
Thats how the case diagram has it labeled

Look on page 2-20 of your K8N Neo Platinum Quick User's Guide. The JAUD1 diagram along with the key below it are pretty self-explanatory. Also check page 2-2 for a diagram of your motherboard if you need help in locating JAUD1.

  • Front audio connection on Antec Sonata case

I'm building a new system with K8N Neo Platinum and Antec Sonata.  It's more or less working now execpt for bits and pieces here and there.  I've been scratching my head over the audio connection all afternoon.  The only way I can get audio signal to come out at all is to unplug the front audio line, put the jumpers back and get it out of the back.
Did anybody manage to get the front panel audio connection on the Sonata working at all?  The pinout for JAUD1 on page 2-20 of the Neo Platinum manual looks exactly the same as front audio header header pin assignment on page 20 of the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity Guide.   On the Sonata side, page 4 of the Sonata manual says "If your motherboard supports Intel's standard onboard audio connector, you can plug the 10-pin connector directly onto the board".  So far so good.  Then the Sonata manual goes on to say on page 5:
    8. Rear Right Speaker Out Pin: Connect the RET-R connector to this pin.
    9. Reat Left Speaker Out Pin: Connect RET-L connector to this pin.
Note:  Your motherboard may not support rear speaker output.  In this case, you do not need to connect RET-R and RET-L.
This last part makes no sense at all.  According to the Intel document, those RET lines are signals returning from the front panel.  They have nothing to do with rear channel, and they must be connected or you won't get anything from the rear line out jack.  So what's really going on?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Andy

Those 8, 9 and the notes only apply if your motherboard does not have the Intel compatibile IO connectors. So you should ignore those lines.

  • Connecting SB Live! 5.1 to front audio po

    Hi!
I have OEM version of SB Li've! 5. that I've bought with Creative Inspire 500 speakers. I also have a case with front audio ports but the problem is that I don't know how to connect soundcard with these ports. I haven't found any info about such possibility in manual but i have only short version of manual 'How to install'. Is there any possibility to connect my SB with the front ports? If there is - how can I do it's
    Regards,
    vacu
    ps.
sorry for my English, I hope you understand me

If you can find a 0-pin socket on Li've! card board, then you can connet your card output internally to the case audio/mic ports by following instructions given @ http://audigy2zshowto.blogspot.com/
NOTE: pin orde may be different on Li've! (instructions are for Audigy 2 Zs, but works well least w/ Audigy 2 card too (I have done this)).

    Hi Frankenputer,
I'd also like to thank you for such a fast response! I do have a copy of the manual in my grubby little hands and I did read it. That's how  I was able to identify the motherboard pinouts in my first post. I guess that one slipped by you  . The link you provided is great, it'll come in handy if I ever misplace the manual down the road.
My problem stems from the way the case manufacturer labelled the wires for the front audio connector e.g. using a naming convention that differs from that of the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity specification.  Specifically the Mic-VCC, Line-L and Line-R wires.
Stated simply, I was hoping one of the experts here might be able to tell me/confirm if Mic-VCC should be connected to pin 3 - AUD_MIC_BIAS or to pin 4 - AUD_VCC, and if Line-R should be connected to pin 6 and Line-L to pin 10 on the motherboard.
Again, thanks for your reply and have a great day!!!

  • MOVED: Front side Audio Connections to mainboard

This topic has been moved to AMD VIA SocketA based board.
Front side Audio Connections to mainboard

    Hi,
The front panel audio socket has a "send" and "return" line for the left and right channels. The green socket on the front panel has special switching connections inside it. Normally, the send and return lines of each channel are connected together. The signal returns to the mobo, and is connected to the rear audio out socket. If you plug something into the front socket, the switches open and disconnect the return signal, effectively cutting off the rear output signal.  If the front panel socket isn't connected at all, a pair of jumpers have to be fitted between pins 5-6 and 9-10 to connect the signals to the rear socket.
When experimenting, avoid connecting to pins 3 & 4, as these might have some voltage on them.
    Cheers

Hmm.. if you mean you have SB card there (other than X-Fi Xtreme Audio/Gamer) then, the only possible way is described @

  • XFI Fatality And Front Audio Ports On C

Hi guys I have a bit of a question about something that has been nagging me for a while.
I have front audio ports on built into my case that I would like to have working. I know that the sound card came with an I/O Dri've with similar ports on it but it is just bugging me knowing that my case has them also and that they are not working. The case has a headphone and mic jack in front, Problem is that I have no idea if I can even hook them up using the sound card.
Has anyone done this? If so can you help me connect my front ports.
    Thanks
    Any replies would be appreciated

  • Fuzzy 945gm2 front audio

    Hi,
I have an msi industrial motherboard. It is the min itx mobile core 2 duo motherboard which I use as a super quiet htpc/workstation. I've built my own case etc. and now I want to connect a 3.5mm front audio socket to the motherboard. I can't make any sense of the stuff in the manual about the JAUD1 front connector. I don't think it is the usual one on the other msi motherboards, and I don't see words like right out and left/right return. left out is there in the table on its own, none of the others though.
Can any one help me please?
    Thanks,
    Shailen.

The Fuzzy 945GM2/945GME2 share the same manual. If anyone can help figure it out here is the pinout for it:

  • What will happen to front audio on computer ca

Hi, When installing a Sound Blaster Audigy Value card the instructions are to disable the motherboard's onboard audio. I currently have front audio from the computer case connected to the motherboard for private listening with headphones. Does it mean that I can no longer use the front audio connectors after installing the sound card?

Sorry but i think your out of luck creative are just about the only soundcard manufacturers who dont have front panel connectors.
Well i suppose they have to sell they're boxes of cheap tricks on the more costly soundcards somehow, if they let you have front panel connectors then no one would buy the higher ranged cards with breakout boxes, not that many do anyway

  • K450 motherboard front panel connection

    Hi
I need to know the layout for the front panel connection on CIB85M. Searched all around and the closest i got was this, but i dont understand the language:

Please, I too am looking for this information:  pinout diagrams and or wire coloring/descriptions for the Front Panel, Front USB3.0 and Front Audio headers which all appear to be non-standard.  Also, there was a Sensor Header that it would be nice to know the layout for just in case I can find a place on the new mobo for it.  Our CIB85M is fried so trying to connect everything to a new MSI mobo.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Front port connection trouble

i'm having trouble connecting my front ports. i have a K7N2 Delta and a MAXTOP Sentinel Type I case, model #CSX-770KLS.
front USB - there are 5 wires labeled as follows: ground, -D, +D, +5V, and shield.
according to the users manual there are 9 pins. the +, -, and ground
all have slots but the others are VCC and USBOC. also
front audio - perhaps i can't have both front and back audio ports work. the
manual states that jumpers must be set in order to have the back
ports work. this leaves only 4 available pins, 3 of which are for the
microphone. for this i only have 3 pins which are: ear g, r-out, l-out.
    thanks for the help.

    Hi,
You might like to retype this in a more descriptive way. It is not at all clear what you are talking about!
I get the gist - but for a full understanding, you're going to have to make yourself a lot clearer.

  • Front audio port not working please help..

    Hey guys,
My HP Pavilion DV2275ea front audio jack does not work, I have tried many different headsets as the mic jack works just fine. I have tried reinstalling audio drivers (Conexant High-Definition Audio Chip) and still nothing. I have look at the support advice posted to no avail. Is there anything else i could try?
A friend said it could be turned off in the bios but i am not able to get in as i don't know the password for the phoenix bios, could this be true?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Well from looking at a jpeg of your board the front usb headers are laid out just like my board. Each set of headers support 2 usb ports each. That gives you the 4 in the rear and 4 for the front.
Now as to the pinouts, 1+3+5+7+9 is 1 set and 2+4+6+8+10  is the 2nd set, with pins 1 and 2 being the 5V power pins. Pins 7 and 8 are your grounds.  3 and 4 are the usbo- and usb1-. Pins 5 and 6 are usbo+ and usb1+. Pin 9 is the "key" pin and may actually be missing by intention. Key 10 is sometimes called the usboc pin and normally isn't used. On some boards you don't want anything connected to pin 10, even if you have to snip the wire going to it and terminate the end of the wire with insulating tape.
Your motherboard manual should show you the pin layout.
