About   GET Method

Please, Can U tell me the Maximum size of URL for Get and Post method.
Its urgent..
Thanks in advance..

Have you heard of Google? http://www.google.com/search?q=limit+for+get+url+data
The GET limit depends on the User Agent but if you're worried about crossing the upper limit, use POST instead. Older browsers supported a max of 255 chars while newer ones go upto 1k or more but it's not recommended to depend on this.
POST details are given in the links below.

  • How can I implement a get method that lets me divide two values, Help plz

    I need to implement a method that divides the values return by two other methods but I keep getting an error message, I think its divide by zero error ( I am not too sure on the exact error msg as I do not have java installed on this pc as yet), here is my example,
    I have two get methods that take an int value so say
    getValueOne() as method one
    getValueTwo() as method two
    Now I have a third method that does the following,
    Public int getValueThree() {
    int value =0;
    value = (getValueOne() / getValueTwo())
    return value;
    I am not two sure on the exact code but it does something like this and I get an error. Could someone please guide me how I can successfully implement a get method that divides two values that are returned by two methods.
    Thanks,
    Zub

    Hi, thanks for your reply. Right, how can I go about to throw an exception? I can definitely give the exact code and error message tomorrow when I can access my home pc.
    And you are right there are some values that are zero! I am not very sure what throwing an exception means to be honest. Could you please give an example?
    Thanks...

  • No Getter Method Error

    I had a working JSP/Struts application. I added a new data page and struts forward, and started getting:
    No getter method for property Fullname6 of bean org.apache.struts.taglib.html.BEAN
    errors.
    I have confirmed that the Fullname6 is referenced in the UIModel.xml file. My changes were only to add a read-only table to the jsp that is failing, so I don't see how that could be causing this error. I made no changes to the struts action that forwards to this page.
    What is going on here? Anybody have any ideas?

    I know about the link that you've sent.
    We don't have a specific form bean for this, as we have 'DataForm' which takes care of get/setter method for the attributes. I am using ADF, JSP, Struts and parameterized where clause in my VO. I do not know how to procede as it doesn't allow me to create the form bean.
    Thanks,

  • HttpURLConnection and HEAD/GET methods

    I am attempting to validate whether an HTML page exists or not.
    I have found that, for about 7% of the pages checked, HEAD and GET methods return different response codes.
    I have structured my code such:
    1) make initial check using HEAD method
    2) for non valid (200) response codes, recheck the page using the GET method.
    In this case about 75% of the pages that failed using the HEAD method will work when using the GET method.
    So, I guess my questions are:
    1) Does anybody know why HEAD/GET return different response codes?
    2) Does anybody know a better way to check if a page exists?
    Here is the sample program I am using with a few URLs that exhibit this behaviour:
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.net.HttpURLConnection;
    import java.net.InetAddress;
    import java.net.URL;
    import java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public class Internet
         private final static String DEFAULT_LOCAL_HOST = "127.0.0.1";
         private URL url;
         private HttpURLConnection http;
         private int responseCode;
         private String responseMessage;
         public Internet(URL url)
              this.url = url;
         public boolean isValid()
              try
                   //  Make first attempt using a HEAD request
                   http = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
                   http.setRequestMethod( "HEAD" );
                   http.connect();
                   System.out.println( "head: " + http.getResponseCode()
                   + " : " + http.getResponseMessage() );
                   //  GET seems to do a better job, try again
                   if ( http.getResponseCode() != HttpURLConnection.HTTP_OK)
                        http = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
                        http.setRequestMethod( "GET" );
                        http.connect();
                        System.out.println( "get:  " + http.getResponseCode() );
                   responseCode = http.getResponseCode();
                   responseMessage = http.getResponseMessage();
                   if (http.getResponseCode() == HttpURLConnection.HTTP_OK)
                        return true;
                   else
                        System.out.println( http.getResponseMessage() );
                        return false;
              catch (IOException e)
                   responseCode = -1;
                   responseMessage = e.getMessage();
                   System.out.println( e );
                   return false;
         public static void main(String[] args)
              throws Exception
              URL url = new URL( "http://www.trca.on.ca" );
              Internet internet = new Internet( url );
              System.out.println( internet.isValid() );
              url = new URL( "http://school.discovery.com/sciencefaircentral" );
              internet = new Internet( url );
              System.out.println( internet.isValid() );
              url = new URL( "http://www.amazon.com" );
              internet = new Internet( url );
              System.out.println( internet.isValid() );
    }

    Using my sample program:
    1) about 3K of data is transferred
    2) it runs in about 8 seconds
    Using InputStream in = http.getInputStream():
    1) about 73K of data is transferred
    2) it runs in about 15 seconds
    Using the getInputStream() method causes the entire file to be transmitted (even though I don't use any read() methods). I don't care about the data.
    I want the check to be as fast as possible which is why I use the HEAD method. It doesn't transfer the contents of the file. But why in some cases does it show a response code other than 200?

  • MVC Problem with getter method of table attribute in model class

    Hi,
    I am on 620 SP34. I am writing a bsp application with mvc. One of the model classes has an attribute of type table. I use this attribute in a htmlb-tableview and '//MODEL/ZMY_TAB' for data binding. If I try to activate a getter method for this attribute, the application dumps with exception <i>BSP exception: Structure component with name "ZMY_TAB" does not exist</i>. I find the SAP source, that raising this exception (see below). The source code looks like: <i>"I don't support getter methods for tables in attribute path"</i>! The setter method works fine, so I am at a loss. Has anyone of you wrote a getter method for an table attribute in bsp-mvc? Have I to consider anything special?
    Thanks,
    Carsten
    Main Program CL_BSP_MODEL==================CP
    Source code of CL_BSP_MODEL==================CM00Z
    METHOD IF_BSP_MODEL_BINDING~GET_ATTRIBUTE_DATA_REF
           * check if attribute exists for binding!
             if exists_attribute( l_name ) is initial.
               return.
             endif.
    * setter or getter defined? Not supported for DATA REF requests
             if get_getter( attribute_name = l_name ) is not initial.
               raise exception type cx_bsp_inv_component
                 exporting name = l_name.
             endif.

    You have two options:
    1. Make your attributes public. It should work fine.
    2. If you need to process the attribute values before it is used, you can make the attribute private but will need three methods
    GET_T_ZMY_TAB that returns the table
    SET_T_ZMY_TAB that sets the values
    GET_M_T_ZMY_TAB that returns DDIC information about the attribute. The same holds good for structures(Change to GET_S_ and GET_M_S_ ) and simple attributes(Change to GET_ and GET_M_).
    The set and get methods are kind of documented at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fb/fbb84c20df274aa52a0b0833769057/content.htm but there is no mention of the GET_M_ methods. I could not find one single document on the Model part MVC.
    Once I added the GET_M_XYZ methods to my attributes, my BSPs started to work fine.
    Cheers

  • Where can I find the detail document about certain method of a class?????

    Moved to correct forum by moderator
    Hi everyone,
    where can I find the detail document about certain method of a class?????
    e.g.  the class CL_GUI_ALV_GRID , when I was going through the class and looking
    at the methods, sometimes the method description is just like the method name,
    and I cannot know what the method does.
      so, I am wondering  where I can find the detail information about the class???
    Edited by: Matt on Dec 4, 2008 11:55 AM

    Hi,
    Most of the times the SAP itself provides the documentaion of the CLASS. when you click on the METHOD name the METHOD DOCUMENTATION button you can see on the application tool bar.
    more over the names of the methods suggest what it is going to do.
    SET_ATTRIBUTE( sets the attribute)
    GET_ATTRIBUTE( gets the attribute value that is provided to the method)
    GET_CHILDNODE
    BIND_TABLE
    etc
    like this

  • Problem about get the workflow context

    There are 2 servers.
    One is Weblogic server (server1), deployed a fusion web project on it.
    Another is BPM server (server2), deployed the bpm process on it.
    On the fusion web project, we use API to get the tasks. But we encountered a problem about get the workflow context.
    There are 2 method to get the workflow context.
    1. getTaskQueryService().authenticate(userId, password, null, null), this method need to pass in useId and password, we can get the user form request but can't get
    password.
    2. getTaskQueryService().createContext(request), we pass the request on server1, but can't get the context on server2, exception thrown.
    Appreciate if you can give some help.

  • Whether private getter methods is Evil?

    Hi!
    I was wondering whether it is bad or good to use private getter methods in a class rather than directly accessing private fields?
    For instance, I have a getter method for each Swig component used in my program:
        private JButton run;
        private JButton getRun() {
             if (run != null) {
                  return run;
            run = new JButton("Run");
            run.setToolTipText("Run");
            run.setIcon(new ImageIcon(ResourceHelper.getImageResource("run.png")));
            run.setEnabled(false);
            run.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent event) {
                    MessageDialog.showPleaseWait(TestRunnerUI.this,
                        "creating logger", new Runnable() {
                            public void run() {
    // bla bla bla
            return run;
        }And so for each swing component....
    But for example I have such a method:
        private void disconnect() {
            mRunner = null;
            mLogger = null;
            log.log(Logger.INFO, "disconnected");
            tree.setModel(defaultModel);
            tree.setEnabled(true);
            save.setEnabled(false);
            saveAs.setEnabled(false);
            load.setEnabled(false);
            options.setEnabled(false);
            run.setEnabled(false);
            breakTests.setEnabled(false);
            connect.setEnabled(true);
            disconnect.setEnabled(false);
        }which changes properties of a lot of components...
    I don't know whether I should use there private getter methods or not. From the design perspective it seems I should but it also adds some overhead I suppose...

    I use accessor methods when writing persistent
    classes and javabeans. The key is not to use them by
    default, only when required. IMO this does not
    violate encapsulation, it hides implementation. Agree. Inside the bean itself you shouldn't use it's accessors either.
    The
    main benefit being that should you need to refactor
    the way a value is retrieved or set you have
    localized the changes. Holub will tell you that if
    you are using an accessor method to retrieve a value
    from an object, in order to do some computation on
    that value, you should move the computation into the
    object's class instead (hence "getter and setter
    methods are evil").Summarized, the public accessors are evil when the code behind does not only return/set the encapsulated value. Solution: refactor, split and rename them to "createSomething", "lookupSomething", "buildSomething", or so.
    In this case the topicstarter was talking about private getters tho.

    Whoa there, jumping to conclusions calling this a problem right from the start.
    Yes its expected behavior. The getter can get called from several JSF lifecycle phases. I suggest you study what they are, otherwise you'll run into plenty more of these head scratching moments.

  • Misunderstanding about abstract methods

    I think my compiler just taught me something, and after reading the JLS I concluded that I had a misconception about abstract methods. However, if someone could confirm this I would feel more comfortable.
    I had defined a class structure like so:public abstract class Grandpa{
      public abstract void do();
    public abstract class Pa extends Grandpa {
      public void do(){
      // whatever
    public class Child extends Pa {
    }I got a compile error indicating that Child must implement do(). I had thought that since there was an implementation provided by Pa that Child didn't need to supply one, but I guess I was wrong. Right? :-)

    Nested where? Inside Pa? Other? Static?Inside Pa.
    It sounds like you're satisfied, but if you want to
    continue the discussion, I'll make the standard
    request. Come on, you know it, say it with me: Provide
    a small, complete, working (in that it doesn't
    compile) example that demonstrates this. :-)Yeah, that's exactly what I was working on for the bug report, but I can't get the compile error in my small example. Argh! I'll have to go back some time and build it up to match the other classes until I get the error, because I still get it consistently with the real thing. I have no idea what the key factor is, though - I've tried everything obvious and I don't have time to work through it right now.
    No prob. It's a pleasant break from arguing with UJ.
    :-)Glad I could offer you a distraction. :-) I'll post here again if I ever figure out what the deal is.

  • Using reflection to get method body

    Hi,
    I'm just getting into this side of program and while I understand the use of reflection in oredr to obtain the constructor and method, parameters, fields etc I was wondering if its possible to grab the method body and copy it into a string.
    So for example in the following class...
    class MyClass
    private String str;
    MyClass(){}
    public String MyMethod(String s)
    str=s;
    str=str+" was the String";
    System.out.println(str);
    return str;
    ...I need to capture just this code..
    str=s;
    str=str+" was the String";
    System.out.println(str);
    return str;
    ...as a string
    The reason i need to do this is that I'm programming a mechanism for storing objects and their methods using JDBC.. I could use object serialisation and store as a blob, but I'm wanting to store the attributes of a class as seperate parts so I can retrieve bits of code from the database at some later time.
    Thanks for any help you might give me
    peace
    neil

    You say that you are trying to store the method body
    into a database. This is to allow you to store an
    object and its methods into a database. Are you trying
    store the method text or its implementation (i.e class
    or java). If it is the implementation then just
    serialize the found method object using reflection.
    WHY are you doing this ?? what about private methods,
    class variables, class methods ???Hi, yes it is confusing to explain, but I'm experimenting with a new programming paradigm called AspectJ and I've only just got into Reflection. I'm creating a repository of Aspects (same as classes but with added functionality and some limitations) with JDBC and don't want to just serialise the object as a blob and so have created data tables to hold different parts of the anatomy of an Aspect and this was the only thing I was getting stuck on.
    The idea is that the user is able to recall these whole aspects (or a part of them such as a method) on the fly and use them in a program. I realise that ther will be problems because these methods may have other dependencies such as the ones you explain above but its just experimental at the moment and those are the kinds of things I'm wanting to find out more.
    I've seen examples of reflection for Objects but never for methods. So it is possible to capture just a method by serialisation using reflection? Any examples would be much appreciated.
    Peace
    Neil

  • A question about a method with generic bounded type parameter

    Hello everybody,
    Sorry, if I ask a question which seems basic, but
    I'm new to generic types. My problem is about a method
    with a bounded type parameter. Consider the following
    situation:
    abstract class A{     }
    class B extends A{     }
    abstract class C
         public abstract <T extends A>  T  someMethod();
    public class Test extends C
         public <T extends A>  T  someMethod()
              return new B();
    }What I want to do inside the method someMethod in the class Test, is to
    return an instance of the class B.
    Normally, I'm supposed to be able to do that, because an instance of
    B is also an instance of A (because B extends A).
    However I cannot compile this program, and here is the error message:
    Test.java:16: incompatible types
    found   : B
    required: T
                    return new B();
                           ^
    1 errorany idea?
    many thanks,

    Hello again,
    First of all, thank you very much for all the answers. After I posted the comment, I worked on the program
    and I understood that in fact, as spoon_ says the only returned value can be null.
    I'm agree that I asked you a very strange (and a bit stupid) question. Actually, during recent months,
    I have been working with cryptography API Core in Java. I understood that there are classes and
    interfaces for defining keys and key factories specification, such as KeySpec (interface) and
    KeyFactorySpi (abstract class). I wanted to have some experience with these classes in order to
    understand them better. So I created a class implementing the interface KeySpec, following by a
    corresponding Key subclass (with some XOR algorithm that I defined myself) and everything was
    compiled (JDK 1.6) and worked perfectly. Except that, when I wanted to implement a factory spi
    for my classes, I saw for the first time this strange method header:
    protected abstract <T extends KeySpec> T engineGetKeySpec
    (Key key, Class<T> keySpec) throws InvalidKeySpecExceptionThat's why yesterday, I gave you a similar example with the classes A, B, ...
    in order to not to open a complicated security discussion but just to explain the ambiguous
    part for me, that is, the use of T generic parameter.
    The abstract class KeyFactorySpi was defined by Sun Microsystem, in order to give to security
    providers, the possibility to implement cryptography services and algorithms according to a given
    RFC (or whatever technical document). The methods in this class are invoked inside the
    KeyFactory class (If you have installed the JDK sources provided by Sun, You can
    verify this, by looking the source code of the KeyFactory class.) So here the T parameter is a
    key specification, that is, a class that implements the interface KeySpec and this class is often
    defined by the provider and not Sun.
    stefan.schulz wrote:
    >
    If you define the method to return some bound T that extends A, you cannot
    return a B, because T would be declared externally at invocation time.
    The definition of T as is does not make sense at all.>
    He is absolutely right about that, but the problem is, as I said, here we are
    talking about the implementation and not the invocation. The implementation is done
    by the provider whereas the invocation is done by Sun in the class KeyFactory.
    So there are completely separated.
    Therefore I wonder, how a provider can finally impelment this method??
    Besides, dannyyates wrote
    >
    Find whoever wrote the signature and shoot them. Then rewrite their code.
    Actually, before you shoot them, ask them what they were trying to achieve that
    is different from my first suggestion!
    >
    As I said, I didn't choose this method header and I'm completely agree
    with your suggestion, the following method header will do the job very well
    protected abstract KeySpec engineGetKeySpec (Key key, KeySpec key_spec)
    throws InvalidKeySpecException and personally I don't see any interest in using a generic bounded parameter T
    in this method header definition.
    Once agin, thanks a lot for the answers.

  • Oracle.jbo.AttrValException: JBO-27019: Get method for attribute

    Hi Guys,
    I am trying to add a new column to Oracle quoting.It has already been customized by some consultant few years back. I followed the note 392728.1 on metalink and also have the documentation by the previous consultant but getting the error oracle.jbo.AttrValException: JBO-27019: Get method for attribute Draft in HeaderVO could not be resolved after adding my column, when I try to print the quote.
    Here are the steps I took
    1) added a column to the query (at the end) in HeaderVO.xml
    2) added the below code in the HeaderVO.xml
    <ViewAttribute
    Name="DRAFT"
    IsQueriable="false"
    IsPersistent="false"
    Precision="100"
    Type="java.lang.String"
    AliasName="DRAFT"
    ColumnType="VARCHAR2"
    Expression="DRAFT"
    SQLType="VARCHAR" >
    <DesignTime>
    <Attr Name="_DisplaySize" Value="100" />
    </DesignTime>
    </ViewAttribute>
    3). Modify HeaderVORowImpl.java file to add setters and getters for the newly added view attribute. For example,
    a) case 67: //
    setDRAFT((String)obj);
    return;
    b) case 67:
    return getDRAFT();
    c) ublic void setDRAFT(String s)
    setAttributeInternal(67, s);
    public String getDRAFT()
    return (String)getAttributeInternal(67);
    d) protected static final int DRAFT = 67;
    Everything is dont exactly as per the manual but not sure why I am getting this issue. Any help will be appreciated.

    a) case 67: //
    setDraft((String)obj);
    return;
    b) case 67:
    return getDraft();
    c)public void setDraft(String s){
    setAttributeInternal(67, s);
    public String getDraft(){
    return (String)getAttributeInternal(67);
    d) protected static final int DRAFT = 67;
    can u change it as explained above.. setDRAFT should be setDraft.. and getDRAFT should be getDraft..
    and make sure that the index.. number is exactly matching with the attribute order in the VO

  • I have an iphone 4 and thinking about getting an ipad2.  Can i use the same apple id for both devices?

    I have an iphone 4 and I am thinking about getting an ipad2.  Can I use the same apple id and itunes account with both of them?  Will my contacts and apps transfer over to the iPad2?

    Yes. I use the same Apple ID on four different iDevices. You can sync the contacts with iCloud or with your computer and have them on both devices. You can sync all of the apps as well. If the apps are not in iTunes on your computer - you can download them to the iPad with the same Apple ID. You can also restore the iPad from a backup of the phone to transfer your settings, app data and your contacts.
    iPhone only apps will be half size on the iPad screen but will still work as long - you can enlarge the size of the apps - but they will be pixelated on the screen.
