About getting prints

I am not sure where to ask this question so I'll try here.
I have tried Kodak and Apple for printing but I am not happy at all with the results. My HP Photosmart 1215 does a much better job and I think that thing is 4 years old.
Does anyone have any suggestions for printing services? I am hesitant to say cost is no option but my pictures are very valuable to me so I also don't want to skimp.

I tried Kodak's service because of a few reviews I read rating their quality as one of the best. I did the normal family Christmas presents (A calendar of my then 9 month old daughter for each family member) and I ordered various 4x6 prints of everything from Sundance Utah landscapes, Myan ruins and close-ups of my daughter. The images had very obvious banding and weak color on both the prints and calendars. I also ordered calendars from Apple for comparison. Although the color seemed a little richer with the Apple product I saw obvious banding here as well.
Thinking it might be something on my end I decided to print some of the pics on my own that I submitted to Kodak for comparison and my old 1215 photosmart printer did a much better job.
I am using a Nikon D70s(Raw)->Aperture on the MacBook Pro.
I would expect a photo service to produce at least as good prints as my old photo printer. Any suggestions?

I've got an Intel Mac Pro with Tiger. When I accepted the latest update from Apple, I lost all my defined printers! I've re-added a local USB printer and a networked Laserjet - fine. But I also added a Phaser 850 color printer (networked) which used to work fine. It connects ok, and opens the printer queue window, but when it tries to print, it says "Unable to get printer status (server-error-not-accepting-jobs". The queue stays active (not stopped) but the jobs don't move. I've tried deleting the printer and re-making it - same deal. What's going on?

I know how to get printer handle from printer name. but I don't know printer name
I have known only printer hdc and document name.

Question about book printing size

Hello,
I am working on a book design. But I haven't decided on the book size yet. For now, there are two sizes that I may choose from. So I need to ask some one's opinion who has knowledge about offset printing.
One size is 295 x 250 mm Portrait size. This is a little bigger than the other.
The smaller size is 230 x 260 mm Landscape size.
We use ISO A-0 printing sheets.
The book will be about anywhere from 250 to 300 pages.
My main question is, will there be any price differences on these two sizes?
Some people say that anything a little bigger than A4 size is automatically calculated for A3 size, which is the double A4. These two sizes both are a little bigger than A4 and fits within A3 size.
If there is enough difference, I want to go for the smaller size. If I can set my mind on one size, it will save me a lot of work and confusion.

I would think the size would be dependent on a few issues: genre, type of content, and the publisher to name a few. You could minimize costs going with the smaller size obviously, but I, for one, cannot make a recommendation without getting more specific on the details. Have you discussed the size with the publisher?

Thinking about getting a MacBook, using Boot Camp, anything I should know?

I'm going into 8th Grade and my parents are thinking about getting a MacBook for me. Now, because my school uses PCs with Windows, I will need to use Boot Camp so I can save things from Microsoft Office on a flash drive and take it back and forth from home to school. Before I do this I need to know if there is anything I should be aware of because I've seen some weird things on sites about Boot Camp like something called Fat32. I also need to know what version of Windows should I use. XP or Vista? I've heard bad things about Vista like how there are back ways in for Hackers, but it's really eye-catching with it's futuristic look. So should I just wait for Windows 7 to come out and replace Vista in the summer or fall of 2010? (Yes, for people who may not know, Microsoft is developing a successor to Vista known as Windows 7. I read about it in my dad's latest issue of Consumer Reports.)

When you get the computer you can run the Boot Camp Assistant program (Utilities folder) and print out the documentation (it's fairly long.) Read it carefully before proceeding. It should explain what you need to know about installing and using Windows on a Mac.
You can install any 32-bit version of Vista or XP with Service Pak 2.
Windows uses two disk formats - FAT32 or NTFS. Vista requires NTFS but XP can use either. OS X can read/write FAT32 formatted drives but NTFS is read-only to OS X. That means that unless the drive is formatted FAT32 you will not be able to transfer files between the Windows volume and the OS X volume. Neither Vista nor XP are any less secure. Both are vulnerable to viruses and malware unless you run anti-virus/malware software to protect the computer.
There are different ways to run Windows on a Mac. Boot Camp is only one:
Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak 2 or Vista. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, or Vista Ultimate. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not yet fully developed for the Mac - some features are not yet implemented - but it does work otherwise.
6. Last is Q. Q is a freeware emulator that is compatible with Intel Macs. It is much slower than the virtualization software, Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system.

Lion server: Unable to get printer status

I am attempting to connect a shared printer to my Lion server (for the purposes of printing documents from the server). The printer is connected to an iMac running Lion via USB and printer sharing is on. Other computers on the network are able to add and print to it fine.
The printer adds to the printer list without issue, but when I attempt to print a document, it shows "Unable to get printer status" in the queue. I've added/removed and reset printing system many times, but still no luck. I've also re-downloaded printer drivers from Apple and restarted the system.
Any ideas to get this working? Thanks.

How do I get printer margins and resolution

How do I get printer margins and dots per inch for the so-called default printer that is attached to my computer (and possible the less critical paper size)

Thanks for your trying it. I learned from you that prinJob.pageDialog() sees the physical limitations on the margins.
I found in the docs: "When creating a Paper object, it is the application's responsibility to ensure that the paper size and the imageable area are compatible".
It seems that most of this stuff is the program telling the printer.
I want the printer to tell the program two critical sets of data: the minimum margins and the resolution.

I have a text field, where the users can enter the comments. In this text field if the user enters more than a page, a scroll bar appears in the print preview where the users can view the complete text what they have entered, but while printing the text which exceeds more than a page is not getting printed in the next page.
I have set the subform properties as "Flowed" and the check box "Allow Page Break within content" is also been enabled, but still the extra contents is not getting printed in the next page.
Please help me regarding this.

This issue is in ADOBE, I think there is no concept of Window in ADOBE,
The text box is placed inside a Subform.

Values not getting printed in the Output

Iam facing strange problem.
In the debug mode iam seeing the values for all variables ( Variable windows) but after printing no value is getting printed. MAIN window is there but no element is being called from the MAIN window.
Can anyone help me in this regard.

check that in print program you have created the element same as using in main program , also declare temporary variables inside loop at table so that **** sign doesnt gets printed ..

Barcode is not getting printed in the SmartForm

Hi All,
I am trying to print BARCODE in a SMARTFORM but it is not getting printed.
I have created a barcode ZTest_Barcode from the transaction SE73. Then I have created a Character Format C1 with this barcode ZTest_Barcode.
In the SmartForm I have applied this character format like this <C1>&WA_VBAK-VBELN&</C1>.
But in the preview of this SmartForm barcode is not getting printed while this field is printing like <C1>220<C1>.
I have also tried with some SAP barcodes like BC_CD39, C128A_01, etc. But the result is same.
Please help me to resolve this issue.

APEX4.0.2 - Interactive Report total is not getting printed when downloaded

I've an Interactive Report based on a sql in Apex 4.0.2. There is a Balance column whose total sum is displayed at the bottom of the table.
When I download the report, the total sum of balance column is not getting printed in the bottom of the report.
Could this be a bug or have I missed some setting?

Hi,
Whilst you can update the SQL to include totals, these would probably not be effective if the user filters the data (the total row may be filtered out) or sorts columns (as the total row would likely be sorted as normal data).
Unless someone else has any other ideas on this, this may be something that needs to be logged with the Apex team as an enhancement request - create a new thread and start the Subject as "Enhancement Request:"

Invoice is not getting printed for particular 3 customers

Hi,
When user is printing the Invoices, only for specific 3 customers it is it not getting printed automatically, but the output is shows success with green. When they re process it manually, it is printing successfully for the same printer.
1. Printer setup is checked it is correct
2. There are two outputs one is External send (E-mail) and one is Printout.
3. The problem is with only the Printout, where as the external send (E-mail) is sent successfully.
Help me out in this issue...

First of all Welcome to SCN Forum
Please check wheather any subroutine has been assigned to the output type access sequence.If the problem is with printout only then check the Logical destination that has been maintained in VV32 for those 3 customers.In VV32 for those 3 customers check wheather Release Immediately has been checked or not. Before reprocessing it go to VF02 and check on determine analysis
