About Guided Procedures

Hi Gurus
Can anybody please give me brief idea about what is Guided Procedures(GP) and how it works?
What can be done by using GP in portal, and  few activities that can be done by it..
I am confusing with the terms CAF whenever GP is coming into picture. How CAF is related to GP? Does GP works without CAF?
Can anybody answer for my queries....
Points will be awarded.........
Regards
Sireesha.

  • Infos about Guided Procedures

    Hello,
i'm new in this and i want to see how it works and how I can make a simple Test on it. Does anybody of you know some books or tutorials?
Background is, that I have an procedure for claims and I have to display it in the portal. So the data of the claims must save in R/3 or another Database.
I have to decide between a normal Web DynPro and an Guided Procedures. Can somebody help me?

  • MDO Forms workflow in Guided Procedures...

    Hi,
Could someone please tell me what does "MDO Forms workflow in Guided Procedures" means?
I know about Guided Procedures. But my functional specification says to implement "MDO Forms workflow in Guided Procedures".Could someone please help me out with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Agasthi.

    Dear Alan,
Yes i have generated the form's submit URL... It works fine when the pdf is saved in the users desktop and upon clicking the submit button it kicks of a Process with a Visual Approval callable object..
However my requirement is that the Adobe form be submitted online during GP runtime.. The process is initiated by the User in the portal (not offline) who wants to put in a request. When the user initiates a process an Adobe form is opened to him in which he fills in his request. This request is then <b>forwarded for Approval</b>.. After Approval a digital signature need to be attached to the document and further on it needs to be sent out to other User Groups.. In case the request is <b>rejected</b> then the control goes back to the requestor who can either modify his request and send it again for approval or simply delete the request.. Throughout the whole process Print of the request can be taken at any time. Considering the requirements of Print & Digital signature i think using Adobe would be the way to go.. What do you think about implementing such a requirement in GP with Adobe UIs? Is it the right way of going about it?
Quite an interesting nut to crack.. Ain't it ??
    Cheers

  • Question to Guided Procedures

    Hello,
in our company I'm evaluating WFM-Tools.
I have two questions about Guided Procedures:
    (1) Is it possible to delete entities of a running process in the CAF Guided Procedures? To stop a process is no problem, but I didn't solve to delete them completely.
(2)Is it possible to escalate dates in a process?
I would be very glad, when someone give me some links, informations, documents e.g. for implementing Composite Applications and Guided Procedures.
    Thanks a lot
    Steve Mussdorf

    Hi Steve,
In addition to the link that Srini gave, you can check the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/39/198141f906040de10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">GP documentation</a>.
To your questions - the functionality to delete process instances is not yet available but will come soon.
Changing the process due date is possible using the so-called process control items. See the following <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/42/cec68872c56baee10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm">docu</a>.

  • I need Your Help for CAF/EU/GP/API Guided Procedures

Hi everyone, I need your help about Guided procedures CAF API, I am developing an WEB DYNPRO Callable Object for Guided Procedures, but I need to get the task name of the running proceess on Guided Procedure once time a user initiated it, if is possible? Do you have an examples?
    Thenk you very much

    Hi,
Yes you can retrieve the task name of the running process. Here is what you need to do.
    1. Get the process instance - IGPRuntimeManager - > getInstance()
    2. Get the IGPActivityInstance(s) from the process instance - processInstance.getChildrenInformation().
    3. Optionaly check if these child activities are Blocks or Actions. If Block drill further to get the Actions using getChildrenInformation().
    4. Retreive the IGPActionInstance(s) from the Block Activities.
    5. Get the IGPActivity object for these Actions using IGPActionInstance.getTemplate() method.
    6.  This object will have a method getTitle() which will retrive you the activity name.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
    Kiran

  • Guided procedures scenario, don't know where too start.

    Hi all,
I am totally new to the CAF framework.
I've done a lot of reading and also did the tutorial "My first process".
    The scenario:
I need to have a scenario where a user fills out an interactive form and submits this form. The data is also submitted in a SQL database.
His manager (a dynamic user) has to approve this form.
After the approval the form has to go to the inbox of a department where they can fill in additional information.
After filling in this information a feedback has to be sent to the user that filled in the form.
    Problems:
    - After doing the first tutorial i wanted to do some more turorials to learn more about guided procedures. All tutorials that I have found requires some beginning point like a Web Dynpro CO or something else. Are there more tutorials that guide you trough a process from scratch?
    - The tutorials that I have found with Interactive forms are designed with the Adobe Designer, not with the NWDS designer. So if you want to add a CO Interactive form you can't use this one because you don't have a .XDP file.
    - Is there a clear tutorial how to add a user dynamicly? For example in the tutorial "My first process" you have to add users while initiate the process. I also read the blog "Passing email address for Interactive Form step". But here the user still have to define to wich email address the form has to be sent. In my scenario the right email address is already in the Adobe form so I want to sent it to that email address.
    - Does a user always has to go to Guided Procedures > Runtime in the portal or can you make your own menu items for starting a process, approve a process etc.
I know it are a lot of questions but I hope that you can help me out with at least some of them because it is really dazzeling right now.

The scenario you mentioned should be possible using GP.  In response to your questions,
    > The tutorials that I have found with Interactive forms are designed with the Adobe
    > Designer, not with the NWDS designer. So if you want to add a CO Interactive form
    > you can't use this one because you don't have a .XDP file.
Adobe LiveCycle designer comes packaged with NWDS.  You can download it from service marketplace and run it standalone:
How to assign Dynaminc Approver in GP
    > Does a user always has to go to Guided Procedures > Runtime in the portal or can
    > you make your own menu items for starting a process, approve a process etc.
No, the runtime doesn't have to be used.  Check out this thread for more details:

  • Wf-XML with Guided Procedures to start other workflows e.g BusinessWorkflow

    HI!
Is it possible with Guided Procedures to create a Wf-XML file and send it to an other Workflow engine, to start a process with the parameter defined in the XML file ? This would be required to start an webflow in R/3 Business Workflow. This Webflow accepts 3 different kinds of Wf-XML standards or SOAP. But i cannot find this in GP. Are there callable object that are able to create this XML files and sent it over HTTP or are there any work-around? Thanks a lot.

  • Callable object and Guided procedures

    Hi all,
Where we use callable objects? i want to know about the basic of callable object and guided procedure?
sorry if my question is very silly

    Hi again
Callable objects can be many types, including applications (like web dynpro), services (e.g. web services), remote function modules, intercative and composite forms, etc.
The GP framework comes with a set of ready-to-use COs that you can see when you open the Create Callable Object wizard. Here is a list of the so-called predefined COs in GP:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0f/619fd378a641b29386063019c24fc4/content.htm
Since applications and services themselves are of various types, here is a link for creating COs of those types in GP design time:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/da/a680415dc6050de10000000a1550b0/content.htm
You can also implement your own callable object type, but here you have to use the NW Developer Studio, apart from the GP worksets. Here is a link to give an overview:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/e74cb156b60a29e10000000a11466f/content.htm
Finally, here is a document that gives general info about exposing applications as COs and links to various areas, connected to CO implementation and usage in GP:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/08/d88041a17e060de10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    Hope that is helpful
Greetings and good luck with the reading

However, where will i get the deployable files that it selects in the Import GP/CAF contents step of the demo? those are the webdynpro components files. One is SCA and other is SDA. Where will i get them?
Kindly post the link to those files if u have them or else send it across.

  • Scenarios when Guided procedures are mandated/preferred to be used

    Hi Everyone
Seeking information on when Guided procedures can be part of the SAP Landscape. It would be helpful to cite some examples or may be some scenarios where GP could fit.
Note : Existing environment involves SAP Netwevaer MDM 5.5 SP06 ,EnterprisePortal,Webdynpro Java using MDM 5.5 SP06 Java API and question which came to my mind is where would GP fit if an external process needs to be part of the current process and how would it achieve better process control w.r.t MDM Workflows vs UWL.

    Hi,
A Composite Application consists of mainly following layers:
    1. Back end and Business Layer
    2. UI Layer
    3. Process Layer
    4. Portal Layer.
    GP is for Process layer.

  • Where are stored attachments in guided procedures process??

    Any one knows?

    Hi Julio,
The history of the process is not lost after the process is finished. You can see the process instances at NWA->Availability and Performance Management->Process Monitoring->Guided Procedures->Process Instances Tab.
Here you can Search the Process running/completed/terminated/erroneous/archived Instances based on Initiator/Administrator/Owner/Overrseer userid forlast week/last month/last year/At any Time etc. In the result that you get after search, you can see all the data for each process task. You can see Input Context,Output Context, Processor,Attachment etc.
Also on the main page for this screen, there are few other tabs which can give you other information about the Process/Process templated and other GP objects.

  • Online Adobe forms in Guided Procedures

    Calling SAP GP experts,
Has anyone been able to successfully implement online Adobe forms in a Guided procedures. If yes, can you share tricks involved..
The objective is to throw open an online Adobe form to the user to fill in.. The Adobe form will have pre-filled data (from previous Actions in the GP) and there will be the Approval process step after the form is filled...
    Cheers
    Nitesh

    Dear Alan,
Yes i have generated the form's submit URL...
Ain't it ??

  • Adobe Forms in Guided Procedures

    Hi all,
I have the 'My First Days' Guided Procedure assinged to a user and am trying to customize it for a demo. I am trying to display an adobe form in a separate section in the My First Days Procedure and so far have been able to configure the action and block in order to display the adobe form.
When i try to add the Adobe form as a 'Interactive form' type, it gives me an error saying 'Could not retrieve template fields: Wrong document format or adapter mismatch.'
I have checked the adobe configuration and it seems to be working fine. Can anyone tell me why i get this error and what is the best way to resolve this issue?
Also, if Adobe forms work fine for manager self service in our systems, should they work fine in the Guided Procedures too ?

  • Difference b/w various blocks in Guided Procedures?

    Hi experts,
I am new to Guided Procedures and want to know a few things.
Can anyone of you tell the difference between the various blocks in GP.
    Or
Can you give a brief idea about when will we use the different types of blocks in GP?
    1.Sequential
    2.Parallel Dynamic
    3.Precondition Loop
    4.Alternatives
    5.Parallel Block
    6.Post condition loop
Also, can any one tell me the diff between a Process and a Simple Process.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    Murthy J N.

    Hi Murthy,
As we know that CAF Guided Procedures (CAF GP) is a framework for modeling and managing workflows using simple and user-friendly tools. As a part of the Composite Application Framework (CAF), GP enables access to multiple backend systems, consistently combining different types of services and applications into processes.GP supports collaboration, ad-hoc items, and offline task management using interactive forms. It provides role-based access to tools and resources and guidance through the workflows at runtime, thereby helping end users to easily identify and complete their tasks.
CAF GP enables you to re-use existing services and applications, such as SAP system transactions, remote-enabled function modules (RFCs), CAF Core applications.
Please check the below links for the different tyoes of blocks available at GP:
