About how many songs does a 4th generation shuffle hold

thinking of buying one as a gift for my father, he doesnt need anything fancy, just something to hold music, so without podcasts or anything extensive, about how many songs average does a shuffle hold?

That depends on a number of factors including the format of the audio file, it's lenght, and the bitrate at which it is encoded.  It roughly 500 tracks or so give or take a few.

About 2000. How many you can actually put on it depends on the length and bitrate of the songs, as well as how much space is being otherwise used.

how many songs does an old ipod shuffle hold?

There are four different iPod Shuffle models and as many different capacities, so the answer depends on which one you have, the average song length in minutes, and the encoding bit rate used.
Very approximately: Determine the iPod Shuffle's capacity in GB and multiply by 200. The maximum number of songs it can hold will be about that many.

"Roughly" How many songs does an Ipod 2GB Shuffle hold?

    Hello Booferoo,
Thank you for the question.  You can hold approximately 240 songs with 1GB.  This will vary depending on the quality of the file for the song and the length of the song:
How many songs can iPod shuffle hold?
Up to 120 songs on the 512 MB model and up to 240 songs on the 1 GB model (based on 128 kbps AAC files at 4 minutes per song).

  • How many songs does the IPod Nano 16GB hold?

I want to buy an IPod Nano 16GB and I want to know how many songs can it hold?

Kind of as an estimate, I have all my music at 256Kbps on a 32GB iPhone, I have about 2800 songs on it. You should probably half that for a 16GB Nano if all music is at 256Kbps taking into account deggies post as well.

  • HOW MANY SONGS DOES A 30 GB REALLY STORE

Hi-how many songs does a 30 GB really store--currently on approx. 1140 and I'm near half way full--I am concerned I think perhaps I should have gotten the 80GB

"Also is there a way to buy songs from the iTunes Store in apple lossless?"
Unfortunately no. That is one of the, several, complaints about the iTMS. First you have "protected" files that are not convertible to other formats (not directly anyway; you can burn to Audio CD then reimport), are not portable to other music players (again, not directly, work arounds exist), and to top it all off, they are advertised as "CD quality" but really you are buying a rather low bit rate for about the same as if you just went out and bought the physical CD instead. Of course, with CDs you can not buy just the tracks you want.
Hey maybe that is what Apple should do. Sell individual songs at 128kbps/MP4 but if you buy the full album you instead get 192+kbps/MP4s. Then you encourage the real audiophiles to buy albums, not singles. And artists can not complain that the iTMS method only sells their main hits and allowing users to not discover the other songs on their albums.

  • About how many songs will the new iPod Nano 16GB hold?

About how many songs will the new iPod Nano 16GB hold?

That depends on a number of variables including how long the songs are and the quality of the format.
A 4 minute song downloaded from iTunes (256k format) is 8MB. That would give you about 1,625 songs if you had nothing else on the Nano.

    Thanks.

  • How many songs does an 8GB ipod touch really hold?

how many songs does an 8GB ipod touch really hold?

A little less than 1750 songs.  The specs for older iPods specified a number of songs.  For the 2G iPod Apple said:
    Capacity
    8GB, 16GB, or 32GB flash drive2
    Holds up to 1,750, 3,500, or 7,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format3
The newer iOSs take more storage space so the number of songs will be reduced.

  • How Many Songs Does it Hold?

I was wondering if anyone knew how many songs the iPhone 3G held at each size? Thanks in advance!

This depends on the size of each song in your iTunes library that you want to transfer. Was all the music in your iTunes library purchased from the iTunes store? Have you purchased any iTunes plus songs which is encoded at a higher bit rate and takes up more space? If some of your music was imported into your iTunes library from a music CD, what did you use for the encoding with the import? Using MP3 for the encoding uses a little more storage space than AAC for the same song.
Apple's XXX amount of songs that each iPod and iPhone can hold is based on one megabyte for each minute of music - a regular AAC encoded song that is 4 minutes in length is roughly 4MB in size.
Copied from this link about the iPod Touch, which will be similar to the iPhone for the 8GB and 16GB.
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopipod/family/ipodtouch?mco=MTIxMTE
+Music capacity is based on 4 minutes per song and 128-Kbps AAC encoding.+
Up to 1750 songs for the 8GB, and up to 3500 songs for the 16GB with no other data such as video and/or photos transferred from your computer to the iPhone.
I currently have "only" 670 songs available on my iPhone which takes up 2.91GB of storage space. If I listened to each song once straight through without stopping, it would take me nearly a full two days or nearly 48 hours to listen to each song once.

  • How many songs does the new ipod 32 and 64 GB holds?

i am looking to upgrade my ipod classic 160Gb with a new one, but  apple doesn't list how many songs each model can hold, anymore. Does anyone know roughly how many songs the 32 and 64 GB models can hold?

Its very close to impossible to accurately tell how many songs a device will hold.   Because that comes down to the the file size of the songs and that can change drastically depending on the quality of the song, the length of the song, the compression of the file etc...
You can have a song that is 3MB, and a song that is 8 or 10MB.
Your best bet is to know how much space your 5000 songs are taking up in your iPod.  if they take less than 35% of the 160GB Then you'll know if they will fit in a 64GB iPad.
But only you can know that. nobody else can possibly tell you whether they will fit or not, because nobody else knows how much space they take up.

  • About how many songs can a 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPhone 5s hold?

Can anyone give me a rough estimate on how many songs each of the three iPhone 5s can hold?

theres really to many to count because asuming that you have all average lengh songs which are about 4.5 megabytes and you have one 16 gb that would be about 3048 and for the 32 it would be about 7281 and for the 64 it would be about 14,563.
but if you have longer or shorter then average songs then theres really know way to tell

Just bought my husband a new IPod Nano 16gb.  How many songs will it hold?

As the size of a song can vary widely depending on its length and bitrate, there is no single number.

Read the manual to ascertain whether your Honda audio system actually supports the
iPod shuffle through the USB port... you may have to just plug it into
    the audio-in ...
and I like to mix things up a bit and listen to eBooks and Books on Tape.
    1. About how many eBooks can a 1GB Shuffle hold?
The answer depends on the format/encoding and bitrate of the audio e-book, generally known as audiobook
2.Without a graphic interface how do I actually locate the songs and/or books I want to listen to?
You memorize the order and make sure the audiobooks are not shufflable.
