That depends on a number of variables including how long the songs are and the quality of the format.
A 4 minute song downloaded from iTunes (256k format) is 8MB. That would give you about 1,625 songs if you had nothing else on the Nano.

Been using iTunes for about 2 years on the same MacBook Pro, just opened it and found everthing's gone. It's as if I'd never used it before. Any ideas, please?

I know many have this issue but i can't find a solution to the problem. i get message saying insuffisiant disk space in the volume iPhoto library and i have plenty of space available. i have the new macbook pro with retina display. i have never seen this message before and i have 2 other macbooks and have had many other also. i am assuming this is a problem with the new macbook retina. does anyone know the exact fix to this issue? i have seen many sugestions to try to fix this issue but none have solved the issue for anyone that i can find in the Apple Support Community. thank for looking into this in advance.
******A true apple fan********Actually your suggestions are the ones that i have tried. i have seen that you have tried to help others with this issue and the only one that i could find that said they found the problem said that it was an ilife update issue and it fixed it and i have no available updates. i know it has to do with something in photo stream because it happens when i create a new library and it is loading the photos but i get the message before i reach the maximum 1000 photos. so i've tried updating, new library(first backing up photos and then deleting them from iPhoto), reinstalling OSX many times, running disc utilities. I called Apple the first day i had this issue and i was the first person to call them for support with the retina display and i actually had it escalated to a senior advisor and we thought we fixed the problem but we did not. i am pretty fluent in dealing with troubleshooting these type of issues and this is the first time i'm reaching out to the community. i figured now that the retina has been out some time now that there would be an obvious answer to this issue. thanks for the quick reply.

Should I buy the old MacBook Pro(non-Retina)
I want to buy a new MacBook but very confused with which model to buy. I was very keen on MacBook Pro (non-retina) because of it good specs and the flexibility it provides for hardware upgrades.
But with the launch of new MacBook Pro Retina models, I have been hearing news (rumours) that the old MacBook Pro (non-retina) will be phased out.
Please advise me if it is still a good idea to purchase the old MacBook Pro (non-retina) model ? I am just afraid that Apple might stop supporting the product in future.I bought my MacbookPro 15.4'' (mid 2012) in the beginning of October and have been fully satisfied, even if it's not Retina. It has IntelCore i7 2.3 Ghz, 1600 Mhz DDR 3 and this alone let draw a conclusion that this is indeed powerfull and efficient machine one could ever wish to own and at the same time to pose a question: what else could one desire? It's definitely OK for the next 5 years and as much as I can determine to derive from it for my needs (by the way I'm convinced it would even meet the requirements of professionals such as IT specialists and the like) this Mac will give me much to benefit from its specs. Mine came with Lion 10.7.4, upgraded then to Mavericks and voila - its performance didn't dissapoint me either. You should concern more where to buy to purchase high-quality product, of course brand new (not used/overused, damaged both internally and externally). The best choise is to buy it from an authorized reseller, a local Apple Store etc. Believe me, an "old" Mac (is mine old??) - speaking of the span of -2,3,4 years prior to this year is a very relative notion: it is TO SOME EXTENT if you compare to the newest models, BUT it isn't so "old" (whan saying the word our psychology distorts this making it sound like "total garbage" which IS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT) comparing to the whole Microsoft-based stuff, even pretending to smooth quality (Windows 8 2-in-1 "tablets"). My advice - buy a 2012 model and you won't lose.

Thanks !OK, use Windows 8 in Bootcamp. Be aware that there are no Bootcamp drivers for Windows 8 yet. So you may experiance not only delays but display problems, freezing, crashes and other problems.

I have just purchased the latest macbook pro 13 retina (late 2013). I want to connect to a Dell U2713H Monitor. As the new macbook doesn't have a cd slot, I am unable to install the monitor drivers etc. Where can I download the drivers?
Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm not sure how to connect to the monitor as the only ports available on this model mac are Thunderbolt. The mini display to display cable supplied doesn't seem to work out of the TB port. Do I need to use a Thunderbolt cable + an adaptor?

Can I use Final Cut Studio 3 - notably FCP 7 - on the lastest MacBook Pro (non Retina) (Z0MV-27-4GB-512-HRA Apple 15" MacBook Pro/2.7GHz Quadcore Intel Core i7/8 GB) running OS 10.8? If not, is there a work-around if I have to revisit work done in FCS 3?
I have it running on the latest NON-Retina MBP. And a good friend of mine has it running on his Retina model. Works fine.

If you need to revisit them...that's why you install FCS3. That's really the only reason I have that on my system, to revisit old projects, and to deal with clients who still use FCP 7.
You really should look at moving on though...not sticking with FCP7. It's 4 years old...two years since it was EOL. Adobe Premiere Pro CC is a very good FCP replacement...although I don't like their "rental" method of paying a subscription to use it. Or you can buy Adobe CS6...but that just lacks enough to make it not quite tempting for me. Premiere CC is spot on...but **** if I don't hate that subscription model. But there's also Avid Media Composer. But that doesn't do a lot of things that I used FCP and Adobe for... -
I have the new macbook pro with retina and I am trying to back it up, with wd passport for mac and is telling me it is going to take 7days. Any Ideas? Im afraid that means there is something wrong with my hard drive. I have verified the disk and it says everthing is ok.
It seems to be a common problem that those drives don't perform well, at least not with Time Machine.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Post the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.

Should I get the 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina or wait for new one?
Okay so they announced the new MacBook Pro with Retina in February of 2013, but that doesn't have the haswell CPU that recently came out. I am for sure going to buy a MacBook Pro Retina for college this upcoming fall, but I don't know I should wait and see if they announce once with the haswell chip in it or just go ahead and buy it..? Can anyone suggest what I should do? Thanks.
My gut reaction to this is to say buy. After all, what else do you want from a mac, the pro with Retina is a very capable machine, and for most functions, any CPU difference would be hardly noticeable.
I do like to wait too, hopeful to get the latest kit, but when the spec is as good as it is, the updates probably arnt worth the wait.
Thats my advice, its your call of course but I would go for a Pro with Retina any day.
