? about image resolution/color correction when apple prints photo book

My first time making a photo book. I color correct and sharpen all of my images in Adobe Lightroom 2 first. Then I save the jpegs and import into iPhoto to make a book. Is there an option for turning off auto color correction when the file is uploaded to apple for printing? Is there an accurate way to tell how the photos will print on the specific paper they use? Also, what print resolution should the photos be set to? Is 180 dpi enough? Thanks in advance.

first read the Apple pages - http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/preparation_tips/ - and all of its links
Second - I suspect you will be disappointed. Based on reports on these forums almost everyone who uses iPhoto exclusively to preprocess photos is extremely happy with the results. very often people you over process their photos using a third party program (including Lightroom, Photoshop, etc) are unhappy because the printing process is optimized for point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing - it is NOT a professional desktop book process
There are no options re color correction - it is built in again aimed at sRGB, point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing
Plus there have been reported incompatibilities between iPhoto and Lightroom
The print resolution is what it is - if it will be less than 180 dpi you will get a waarning - it can be greater
The papers they print on are specified here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3412

I know the file size is massive due quantity of large image files, but I don't want to reduce the image file size and compromise quality in the book. How can I get past this?
    My macbook air is os x 10.9, using iPhoto 11 9.5 (902.7).

Try Old Toad's solution here:   See   Re: iphoto : upload impossible to print a book
Try to boot into Safe Mode and order this way, or sign into a different user account and try to order as a different user.

When you email a picture from Photos, you can choose the size.

  • Descriptions of Photos when ordering a photo book

I wonder if anyone can help me.
    A simple question really:
When ordering a photo book from Apple if you do not input a description of the photo beside it and leave it blank will they print as being blank or will Apple print an empty box where the description would have been?
    Thanks for you help all.

I am almost positive that it will just be left blank, not an empty box.
Most of my books have been the large hardcover with the theme that does not have titling, but I did do one or two that had it and I just left the area blank. No empty boxes appeared.
In fact, if you choose a layout for say 8 photos, but fill it with only 6, the slots for the other photos will also come out as just blank space. I did this when I wanted the photos more to the middle of the page, not stuck near the center binding. They came out great!
Also, another note....some of my photos were very different, nonstandard sizes, and several of them were old snapshots that had the poor-resolution yellow triangle warning, but they all came out better than I expected and I am very happy with all my books!

  • Color of dust jacket in photo book

can i change color of dust jacket in photo book using aperture. its default is white but i would like it black.
    thanks
    pauline ottawa

The color of the dust jacket depend on the theme you are using. Some themes let you select the color of the dust jacket and the background of the images.
With "Art Collection" the only background available is white, but with the "Modern Lines" theme you can make the dust jacket black, like this:
Select the front cover page, switch to "Edit Layout", and select the background color.
If you need to use theme that does not allow to set the background color, you could try to add a photos box to the cover, drag the resize handle to make it fill the front page and set the border to a large value. Make the border black, then send this photos box to the background behind the title text and the title image. Do the same for the backside page of the dust jacket.

  • Ordering a printed photo book

I am trying to order a printed photo book but when I type in my details my telephone number is rejected as invalid. I have ordered books previously with no problem. Any suggestions?

By trial and error I have solved the problem. The "primary number" field is expecting seven digits but my number is only six digits. I tried putting a leading zero before my number and it was accepted. The leading zero was subsequently dropped automatically. I presume you can also put in a zero at the end but I didn't try that.

  • How do I sort the photos in the photo pane when making a photo book?

There's a certain order that I'd like to see the photos I want to use when making a photo book.  But the order that I have it in (which is done manually and not by date) in the album does not appear in the same order when I want to turn some of those photos into a photo book.  For some reason the photos that appear on the right side of the screen, "photo pane" show the photos in a different order.  Is there some kind of setting that I'm missing?

No - they are in date order - the only solution I've seen is to ues teh batch change command time & Date command on the photos in the album to put them in date order to match the album  --  or just drag them to the book pages in the order you want them

  • Can't get color right when scanning & printing

Hi all. I'm having an interesting (and frustrating!) problem with colour and scanning...
I have a new Brother mfc-9840cdw, and am scanning across the network using it. I find that on some Macs black text and gray shading has a distinct green cast both on the screen and when printed back to the mfc. My main iMac screen has been profiled using a Spyder2 Express, and has this green problem. However, on a Macbook Pro (MBP) scans are the correct colour and print properly. Interestingly, if I take a jpg file produced via a scan on the MBP, open it in Preview on my iMac then print it in colour, it takes on the green cast. Conversely, if I take a file produced by the iMac and print it on the MBP, it prints properly. Same file, same drivers, same settings, everything. This has me really confused! I can't see how the same file can print differently to the same printer using the same driver. I've tried Brother colour and Colorsync colour in the driver settings, all to no avail.
I notice that in the "Adjust image" settings for the TWAIN driver, there are options to use a colorsync profile "Brother sRGB profile". This doesn't help either. A profile never gets embedded in a resultant jpg file, according to Preview.
Any ideas why I'm seeing this weird behaviour?

Have you made sure you are scanning in B&W? This sounds like you are scanning it in color -- black takes on a green cast sometimes when scanned in color.
    Good luck

  • Images not displaying correctly when using crystal add-on for SAP B1

If you have a jpeg logo which has a graduated colour affect on a crystal report and preview and print it straight from Crystal, the image appears normal but when you run it through the crystal add-on viewer the graduated colour comes out in different coloured blocks and the image is not as well defined.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?  Is there a setting I can change?
    Thanks,
    Kate

    Hi Kate,
At this moment I am facing the same problem: I want to display pictures on a quotation lay-out.
Tomorrow I will take a look at this with a collegue of mine. If we are able to solve this issue I will inform you.
    Kind regards,

  • When I print to Canon 100 Pro using Photoshop elements 12 for Mac, do not get true color as when I print straight from photo

When I print using Macbook and Adobe Elements 12 on Canon 100Pro, do not get true color.  When I download a photo and print from the download, I get true color.  Where do I start to fix issue?  It appears to be a Photoshow issue rather than Macbook or Canon 100 Pro.

  • Color for Aperture online printing and books

Anyone know what color profile in Aperture we need to choose for having photos printed or books made from Aperture's online services?

Books are printed using the Kodak NexPress which does use icc color profiles. In fact when you qualify a grade of paper you can either generate a "universal" profile (for a grade of paper) which will work (but not great) with different coated papers. Then their is a "Custom" icc profile they generate. A custom profile will work only with the paper that has been qualified. That is the best profile which will give the best results.
If they wanted (Apple) they could provide the profile as one has been generated and to my knowledge they use the same paper all the time for books. It is my understanding they may use several commercial printers all who use the Kodak NexPress for all their products. Personally I think the HP Indigo does a slightly better job but there are issues with that technology as well!!
