About InfoPackage

Hi
I'm New to BI7.0.Perviously i had worked on 3.5 Version.
How to create the Info Package in BI.i didn't see the IP option on Infosource contecx menu.
Plz explain me with navigation steps.

Ravi,
the data flow in BI7 is different - please search the forums for the new dataflow options for SAP BI 7.0 and you will understand where an infopackage figures. The creation procedure is the same ... you create an infopackage against a datasource.

   also created two dso(A,B) and load data from this datasource by DTP.
   how can dso(A) only load data from infopackage(a),and dso(B) only load data from infopackage(b)?

Datasource in BW side is nothing but PSA............a PSA table cannot store two types of selection simultaneously.............
The best option is.........
1) create a full upload Infopackage and load PSA.............
2) From PSA to DSO A you create one transformation..........and one DTP...........If you want you can put your selection in transformation by creating start routine or end routine...........or in DTP you can use the filter option.......
Again You create another transformation and another DTP for DSO B............and follow the same method.......

Infopackage data selection & deltas

Hi BW Experts,
I have a few questions about infopackage and delta loads:
1) How to perform mulitiple data selection. e.g. company codes 1000, 1001 and 5000? I can't filter by From To data selection since I do not want to include companies 2000, 3000, etc.
2) How to perfrom delta loads for just the company codes 1000, 1001, etc.?
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Hi ,
First of all, what is the delta identifier you have for loading the deltas for 1000, 1001, etc.
For your requirement, create 2 InfoPackages,
1. For FULL loads - Here as advised by others do duplicate rows and maintain the company codes for which you want to do FULL load.
Note: Daily full loads and you can delete the overlapping requests if your target is InfoCube.
2. For DELTA loads - here maintain 1000, 1001, etc and start Init and following deltas.

Update mode for Infopackage

Hi,
i have a question about Infopackage to ask you. I would like to create an Infopackage for Delta-Init Load IN Update Mode. When i create an infopackage, why only Full load in Update Mode appears? There are no Update mode for Delta upload and Initialize delta Process vorhand. How can i let it appear?
I extract data from CSV Flatfile.

if you want to load delta loads using Flat file.... first load the data till DSO1.. next you can load your 2nd and 3rd files as full loads to DSO, from DSO to cube do a INIT load you can find this option at info pack update tab, after doing this you can able to see Delta option at update tab, instead of selecting delta option here you can just copy your info pack and select delta option and do delta loads from now onwards. so in feature you can use the INIT info pack if any errors occurs. if data loaded to DSO you can delete PSA data or else you can delete after some time.

InfoPackage groups

hi all,
Please any one tell me about infopackage groups and where is the option to create it. What is the difference between infopackage groups and process chain?

Hi Manu,
Infopackage groups are used to use to do Data Transfer before Process Chain concept introduced which is before 3.0b version of BW. Since process chains has more features and functionalities than Infopackage groups now every one is using process chain concept.

Info Package groups perform the same function as an infopackage only thing is you can attach more than one infopackage in a infopackage group and prioritise your load schedules infopackage wise.
In RSA1 click on Infosources . you'll see a icon for infopackage grooups on the middle panel beside the search,legend icon, click on it then a right panel opens where you can see the list of infopackage groups.Right click on the top node and say create.
Drag and drop your infopackagesfrom the left pane in it and right click and say schedule.
It will open a window enabling you to prioritise your info package loads in the order you wnt.

Hi,
Goto Tcode SU01 for that user you need to go to the Logon Data tab and check what is the User Type. Is it currently Communications in your system? You will need to make it System

How to make a BW system non-modifiable?

How do i do that? Also what if i have to keep only the infopackages open for creation?

Hello Abhijit
To make a SAP BW system non-modifiable you have to do at least the following:
1. TCODE SCC4 --> double-click on your client --> Changes and transports for Client-specific Objects should be set to No changes allowed.
2. TCODE SE06 --> click on System change option (you have to have the necessary authorization, or else you can not see the button at top) --> Set the global settings to non-modifiable (Be careful here: a. Software Component "LOCAL" has to have the status modifiable read more about it in the section about transports on help.sap.com. b. I will suggest that you take a snap shot of your settings before changing them to non-modifiable.)
3. Regarding your question about InfoPackages I will suggest that you watch Luis Orama's e-learning session about BW transports on this site. But a quick answer to your question is that this is possible.
TCODE RSOR (Transport Connections) --> Click on "Object Changeability".

i am transporting datasource from dev to quality. i have to manually replicate the ds in quality, rite.
what about infopackages from dev to quality. do i need to create infopackages in quality or do i need to transport from dev to qa

Regarding Replication of DS...........
For R3 DS
1)Create DS in R3 and Replicate in BW-Dev
2)Transport it R3 Qualty
3)Replicate in Bw-Quality
if it is LO datasource rthe Procdedure is Slightly Diff............
1)Goto LBWE or SMQ1 and clear the Queues
2)Clear Delta Queues in RSA7 and
3)then Transport the DS to Qualty.
4)Check whether the DS is iin active version in Quuality
For FlatFIle DS
1)Transport it to BW-Dev to BW -Quality and Activate.--No dependecy of R3.
Creation of Infopaks ........As a Standard Procedure ,Create in Dev and Transport from Dev to Quality or Production.
Else u can create the INfopaks in Quality and Prodcution too.

Table for error ?

Hi,
I would know in which table is stored the errors about a loading ?
In RSLDPSEL are informations about infopackage, but not about errors...

T100 is where SAP has its messages.
In this table, look for Messages with SPRSL = 'E'. These are English.
While you are there, whenever you see '&' sign, that is where SAP can insert its own text when it shows you the Error Message.
Message # Text
718 - File & does not exist
Here, SAP calls this message and inserts the name of the File name in the place of '&'.
Now, the name of Flat File is what I guess is stored in Cluster Tables.
VARI is another Cluster Table. Play with this table so see how you can extract the data.
I don't know if that is exactly what SAP does.

About scheduler (Infopackage)

I want to ask you all about variants which are used in data selection tab of infopackage..
I have one field 0CALMONTH.. I have data in my data target till 09.2008..
I want to schedule this data target for monthly pull..
So if I use variant in selection tab.. what should I enter there so that each month it will pull current months data.. (eg next month when it will run value of 0CALMONTH will be 10.2008.. next to next month it should automatically change to 11.2008 to pull data for only month 11.2008 & so on..

 Similar scenario we solved like this we pushed the entire data coming to the psa with out any restrictions .
Then at dtp we made a filter condition to selectively get the records. we made several dtps and added them in the process chain for the same field with differnet filter conditions ......
when the particular data comes that dtp will onky execute and the remaining ones wont select the data becoz it doesnt satisfy the filter condtion...
for that the code at the dtp level i am givin for the field under one dtp

About maxlines for infopackage

Hi, i changed maxlines for infopackage in OLTP tx SBIW and then make infopacke in SAP BI7, but not correct parameters that i have seted,why?

The Settings are for Extraction for Ex -- If you set control parameter for data package as 20,000 KB..then during extraction of data each data package will be limited to size of 20,000 KB and this will reduce the no. of data packages to avoid smaller sizes(KB). Then the data package maximum size would be limited to 20,000 KB when you schedule your info-package.In that case, one data pack will contain your 20,000 kb worth of data. Also your infopack will contain more than one infopack if there is data beyond 20000kb.
As each client of a system is a separate source system to BW. And in order to extract the data of all clients to BW each client has to be added as source system. To control the datapackages you then also need to maintain the general settings for each source system and so for each client.
This settings are nothing relevant to Info Package settings.

Loading Infopackages one at a time (i.e. one by one)

Dear All BI Experts,
We are implementing SCM5.1 with BI7.0
We load a cube in BI with daily forecast data from APO, but unfortunately we have spotted one of the dates is wrong, so the data in the cube has been summing up incorrectly.
That has now been fixed via the transformation, so what I want to do is reload the cube but with one Infopackage at a time (not all eight as are queued up now).
Does anyone know how to load packages one by one?
Any help will be greatfully received.

There is an ancient solution i am sorry if my mind working as ancient guy. But let me share my though here
As i suggested Just run the DTP between Data source and Cube with Get request by request delta option with below process
Say suppose you have 18 requets in PSA
when you run the DTP first time its trying to fetch the records one by one till 18 th so you can manually red teh process and delete the unwanted requests and then change the transformations date related info and then again run the DTP this time it will try to fetch the request from 2-18 so after loading of second request break the load by changing the QM ststus of DTP if its not possible then go to the target cube mange from there stop the data load then reomev the requests which ever present other than 2 remove 3-18
and then again repeat the process
318 break the load delete the requests 418
4--18 " " " "
Repeat the process till all the requests got finished... and finally cross verify weather all the requests got loaded or not..

Scheduling InfoPackage fails to start extract in R/3

Hi,
We are extracting data from CO-PA using the delta infosource.
We initialised the Delta successfully (without data transfer) and have now scheduled our infopackage to extract data from R/3.
When we go to monitor, it tells us that the "Request is still running". Within Details:
Requests: Everything OK
Extraction: Missing messages
Transfer: Missing messages or data
Processing: no data
When I go to the R/3, SM37, I see that infact no extraction job has been scheduled. Consequently, the InfoPackage sits in a "Still running" status till it times out.
If I go to iDoc list in R/3 (Transaction WE05), I see within the inbox that there is a iDoc from my BW system of type "RSRQST" (BIW: Data Request message to OLTP) with a status of 64 ("iDoc ready to be transferred to application").
It seems that something is preventing this iDoc from initiating the extract.
Can anyone suggest a cause of this problem?

hi,
how about the other infopackage extraction ?
try to check following from monitoring of the request, menu Environment
- Transaction RFC >> in the datawarehouse
Transaction RFC >> in the source system
- ALE management >> in the datawarehouse
ALE management >> in the source system
- Check connection
- RFC log on
