About installing Adobe Reader patch 10.1.7

I had installed Adobe Reader 10.1.3 in Windows server (64 bit) version 6.0.6002.
To overcome vulnirabilities APSB12-16, APSB13-02  and APSB13-07 decided to install  Adobe Reader patch 10.1.7.
Do i require to install Adobe reader pathces 10.1.4, 10.1.5 and 10.1.6 before applying patch 10.17 ?
or can i install Adobe Reader patch 10.1.7.

Reader XI will run on Vista. It isn't "officially" supported, but I have a testing machine with Vista Ultimate X64 and Reader XI. It works as well as it does in Win 7.

  • Unable to install Adobe reader Patch

    Hi,
kindly help me on below issue..
I am not able to install Adobe reader patch file it is installing some systems but maximum of systems are getting failed. Here below I have attached the log file and the installation batch file whatever I am using.
The Command I am using through batch file.
    @echo off
    "%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11008.msp" /quiet /passive /q /norestart

1642 = "The upgrade cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer
and that you have the correct upgrade."
Adobe reader updates are *not* cumulative and only apply to specific versions and patch levels. Adobe has tables on their enterprise support website that detail what patches are applicable to what versions. Here's the one for Reader 10 (can't find the one
for Reader 11 but I'm sure it exists).

  • I cannot install Adobe Reader 10.1.04 on my Windows Vista computer

I've been unable to install Adobe Reader on my Windows Vista (SP1) 32-bit Toshiba laptop, and would really appreciate some help.
Here's the error message I get:
Error 1402. Could not open key: UNKNOWN\.api\AcroExch.Plugin\ShellNew. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Here's a brief history of what I've already tried:
    # 1 - Downloaded AdbeRdr1014_en_US.exe as a stand alone file multiple times from different servers and sites.
    # 2 - Uninstalled Adobe Reader 9.0
    # 3 - Ran AdbeArCleaner.exe multiple times to remove ANY perious verions of Acrobat and/or Reader.
    # 4 - Opened each of my 4 browsers, latest verions of IE, Opera, Firefox, and Chrome, searched for Plugins and/or Add Ons and removed ANY Adobe related apps except Flash.
    # 5 - Opened the Control Panel, Programs, searched for and removed ANY versions of Acro Quick Reader or Quick Writer.
    # 6 - Ran Norton Utilities Clean Registry multiple times.
    # 7 - When trying to install Reader 10.1.04 I had PREVIOUSLY received this error message:
Error 1402.Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\AcroExch.Document\Shell\Open\Command. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
However, after using Adobe Cleaning Tool, I no longer got this error.
    # 8 - I also disabled my A-V Program during all installation attempts, Kaspersky PURE 2.0.
The reason that I wanted to update to Adobe Reader 10 was that Kaspersky did a vulnerability check which indicated:
    "Adobe Reader/Acrobat Multiple Vulnerabilities"
    See: http://www.securelist.com/en/advisories/47133/?function=advisories&VN=47133
Solution was to update to version 10.1.2 (or higher).
Now I can't open any .PDF files. I can't find the so-called Plugin which is causing the installation to stop. The installation of Reader 10.1.04 gets to around 96% complete, then fails and rolls back.
    # 9 - Is there an easy fix, such as a tool that will autyomatically remove any relevant registry key, or apply the correct administrative attributes to the registry keys? If not, can you please talk me through this step by step. I've never been so stumped or frustrated performing a software upgrade, what I thought would be a simple task.
THANKS in advance for your help which is much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Ecto

    Hi Pat,
I feel like I'm falling deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole, operating in an area in which I am totally unfamiliar. I know a great deal about computers, but that still leaves me ignorant about many other things.
I had previously downloaded subinacl.msi in my research on Vista permissions and the inability to install Reader 10.1.04. In Vista, Windows Installer is a Service, not a program. I don't even understand what that means. I had previously tried changing the file extension of subinacl.msi to subinacl.exe but that didn't work. Then I looked for an EXE version of the file. No luck with that. Your pointing me to http://weblogs.asp.net/rternier/archive/2007/02/01/how-to-install-msi-files-on-vista.aspx was helpful up to a point. The post assumed I would know what to do with the bat file template:
    "C:\Windows\System32\msiExec.exe -i  C:\Users\rternier\Documents\Downloads\tfpt.msi"
I changed it to the following:
    C:\Windows\System32\msiExec.exe -i  C:\Users\aecolkercpa\Downloads\subinacl.msi
PLEASE NOTE: I store and run all downloaded installation files from the directory C:\Users\aecolkercpa\Downloads\
Usually, after installing a program from an installation file I will delete the installation file, unless there is a problem installing the application. In that case, I save the installation file until the problem is resolved.
Also, I am not sure if the first phrase in the BAT file I created is correct,
    C:\Windows\System32\msiExec.exe -i
I called the file Install MSI.bat and ran as administrator.
I clicked on Accept the warranty terms, and the msi file began to be installed. Then I got a blue screen error BAD_POOL_HEADER with lots of text messages on it. I had to reboot. When I rebooted, Windows asked if I wanted to search for a solution online to the shut down, and gave me this report:
"Troubleshoot a problem with your antivirus software
A problem related to your antivirus software caused your computer to shut down unexpectedly to protect itself from data corruption or loss.
To try to solve this problem, follow these steps. One step might solve the problem, but if it doesn't, then go on to the next step.
    Update your antivirus software
Missing antivirus software updates could be the cause of your computer's problem. To make sure your antivirus is up to date, follow these steps:
Click to open Microsoft Security Center.
    Click Malware protection.
If your software needs to be updated, click Update now.
If Windows can detect your antivirus software, it will be listed under Virus protection.
If your antivirus software is not displayed in Windows Security Center, go to the downloads section of your antivirus software provider’s website. Find the update for your version of the software and your operating system, and then install it. For more information, check the Help for your antivirus software.
Most antivirus software updates are free, but some providers charge a small fee for the updates. If you're using an older version of the software, you might also have to pay to upgrade to a more recent version to continue to receive the updates.
Check for multiple antivirus programs running on your computer
Running two antivirus software programs on your computer at the same time is not recommended because the two programs can interfere with each other. Even if you don't think your computer could be running two antivirus programs, antivirus software can sometimes come bundled with your computer and it might be running without your knowledge. To check if two antivirus programs are running, follow these steps:
Click the Start button , right-click Computer, and then click Manage.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
In the left pane, double-click Services and Applications, and then click Services.
Look at the list of services under the Name column. If you find two antivirus programs, right-click each service associated with one of the programs, and then click Stop. Note that there may be multiple services running for one antivirus program.
    Contact the antivirus manufacturer
If you've completed the previous steps, we recommend you contact the antivirus manufacturer directly for additional support."
Since I was unsure how to parse the BAT file, it probably contained errors, which may be the reason behind the blue screen crash. Should I have moved the bat file and the subinacl.msi file to the Windows/System32 directory before running it? To a different location than the download directory?
At this point I'm rather burned out. Perhaps 50+ hours of my time have gone into trying to install a simple program, Adobe Reader 10.1.04. I would love to succeed, but I think my lack of comprehension is making it even more difficult than it might otherwise be. Instead, I'm becoming more and more confused and frustrated by all these detours and additional issues.
Is it possible Pat to arrange for you to have remote login access to my machine using Go to My PC or some other application, so that you can hands on accomplish in perhaps 5 minutes, what might take me 5 more weeks (or months) to get done?
I feel we are close to solving this puzzle, but it keeps on slipping away.
Please let me know your thoughts, and thanks as always for your help.
    Cheers,
    Joel

  • Unable to install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 Help!!!

Help Please I had Adobe Reader 8 on my Laptop Os WinsXP but it was corrupt so I unstalled it and I`m trying ( Approx 8 tries ) to install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 but all I get when it`s trying to Install is a dialog box that pops up saying
Internal Error 2753. Updater api_NON_OPT and then says Adobe Reader 8.1.2 setup Failed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in Advance
    Alex

I can help if you gor error 1402 about not having permission to update reg sub-key MSFS under:
    HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/OptionalComponents
Logged into my own account, I could see no sub-keys under Run even though I have Administrator rights. I logged in under the Administrator Account (the one under which Adobe was originally installed). Now I could see all sub-keys.
I installed Adobe Reader 8.1.2 successfully.
I rebooted and logged back in under my own account and can now see all sub-keys.
I suspect 2 things. Either my registry was corrupt and I lost the sub-keys (dont think so) or an update from say Adobe Reader 8.1.1 to 8.1.2 can initially only be done under the account that did the original install (I hope this is not the case). Good luck.

  • Can I get help to install Adobe Reader 11.0.02?

Help, please.  I'm unable to install Adobe Reader 11.0.02 because I'm not knowledgeable about computers and being 85 doesn't help.  I am using an iMac with OS 10.8.2.
I have 2 different yellow boxes on my desktop--Acrobat Reader .XI Installerr.pkg and AcrobatSecUpd1102.pkg (a 3rd yellow box vanished when I took it out of my Dock) as well as mostly white rectangular icons labelled AcrobatSecUpd1102 and AdbeRdr1100 2_en_US, probably because I saved AdbeRdr1100 2_en_US.dmg rather than opening with DiskImageMounter (default).
Also, in my Dock is Installer, a gray icon with a large arrow pointing down.
I did get a message that the installation failed and to contact the software firm.  I already have Adobe Reader 11.0.01 and tried to install 11.0.02 after deleting 11.0.01 from my Dock and again after putting it back in the Dock by getting it from my hard drive.  However, it is paled out when I attempt to choose the Adobe Reader version to replace so I cannot proceed.
Your help will be most appreciated.

Hey, I did succeed in downloading 11.0.02 and will attempt to delete my Question.

  • How do I install Adobe Reader on my PC?

I have tried numerous times to install Adobe Reader on my PC and am unable to do so. Suggestions?

I g o into adobe.com.  I click on downloads. I click on download now (for Adobe Reader). I de-acitivate “install Chrome as my default browser (my current browser is Internet Explorer). A window shows up and a box appears that reads “preparing to install, please wait”. After about 5 – 10 secs that box disappears. The next two boxes  are “Wait for File Download” and “User Account Control” each of which I am advised to click “Run” once the active boxes appear. Nothing ever happens.

Please provide the windows installer log of Adobe Reader installation, it will be helpful to know the exact cause of filure.
To get the windows installer log follow the steps given below:

  • Error 1923 installing Adobe Reader XI

When installing Adobe Reader XI I get:
Error 1923. Service Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMUpdate) couldn't be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
This happens after UAC elevation dialog. Running the installer as administrator doesn't help. Even when I select to update manually, I still get the same error.

    Hi,
This error is coming because service might already be in use. The file can be in use by any anti-virus or  data back-up softwares. It is also possible that your previous un-install has been unsuccessful, and it was already using the service. You can try two things :
    1. Reboot your system once. It should fix all scenarios.
    2. Another thing which you can try is Go to Control Panel ->Administrative Tools ->View local Services. Select Adobe Acrobat Service, Right click and stop it. Then try installation.
You can try msiexec /i [Path to MSI file] DISABLE_ARM_SERVICE_INSTALL="1" as suggested by LeoAdobeX but I will not recommend this. We would like our users to be updated with latest update and service just helps in that.
Keep us posted about the outcome.

  • Installing Adobe Reader X Did Not Override/Replace Reader 9.x On Mac

I updated Adobe Reader to version X (10.1.0) when prompted by my Mac but then saw that instead of Replacing Reader 9 (like it usually does), it Added and I had Both versions.
I read the following advice in the forums and I did move the Adobe Reader 9 folder from the Applications folder to the Trash (and emptied) but I’m confused about a few users advising to also remove AdobePDFViewer.plugin from the Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-Ins.  Do I not need this anymore?  Because there is only the one plug-in in that folder, not two, even though I did have two versions of Adobe Reader (9 and 10) before I trashed version 9?
    I’m using Mac OS X.6.8
    User advice from forum:
Re: OS X How to best install Adobe Reader X if Reader 9.x is already installed
I have both installed on my Mac. But to uninstall Reader 9, drag the Reader 9 folder from Application to the trash. You should also trash the PDFViewer plugin (Library > Internet Plugins).
    Another user’s advice from forum:
Now to answer question - "Should I just trash Adobe Reader 9". The answer is YES. You can trash Adobe Reader 9 because installing Adobe Reader X over Adobe Reader 9 takes default ownership of pdf files from Reader 9 in application as well as Safari Web Browser. You would not require Adobe Reader 9 application now.
First time using a forum.  Great help.  Thanks in advance for any further help.

    Hi,
Reader X on Mac does not override or replace Reader 9. This is because Reader 9 installs in /Applications/Adobe Reader 9 folder while Reader X installs in /Applications folder. But if you customize Reader X installation to install on same location where Reader 9 is present, then the installer will ask your permission to trash Reader 9.
If you do not want to go into that detail, the simplest way is to follow the advise from other forum that you have mentioned. You just need to trash Reader 9. There is no need to trash AdobePDFViewer.plugin as that will be updated to Reader X. If you trash that you may not be able to use Adobe plugin to view pdfs in Safari.
    Thanks,
    Karan

  • How to install adobe reader on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.?

I can't figure out how to install adobe reader on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.  Can anyone help? I want the free version.
    Thanks!

Please see How to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader for Android.
If you have not installed Adobe Reader for Android on the device before, you can just skip to the second section: How to reinstall Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is a free PDF viewer.  You can view PDF documents, add comments (e.g. sticky notes, highlight, freehand drawing, handwritten signatures), fill out forms, add personalized bookmarks, etc.  Only extra features (e.g. converting from PDF to Word/Excel, converting from Word/Excel to PDF) require paid subscription services.
Please let us know if you have any further questions about installation.

  • I've installed Adobe Reader twice and it still will not read a PDF file. What's up?

I've installed Adober Reader twice now and it still will not read a PDF. What's up?

I have the same problem. Adobe Reader worked fine until the last few days. I run Windows 7 and all I get is a small black cross in the top left corner of the screen. I can open downloaded pdf files, but not anything new from the internet.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and have run every type of scan I know of without any change.
This seems to be a common and recent problem, so I would like to know what's being done about it.

  • Trouble installing Adobe Reader XI

I tried to install Adobe Reader XI on my Mac (OS 10.8.4), but the installation stopped at 96% and has been stuck there for about six hours now.  I can't quit the installation, which means I can't shut down my computer.  How do I quite the intallation?  Also, I have Acrobat Reader 5.0 on my computer.  How do I uninstall that?

Cmd+Opt+Esc will open the "Force Quit" dialogue and you can Force the installer to quit from there. If worse comes to worst, press and hold the power button for five seconds. Your Mac will "power offf". Wait a few seconds more and you can reboot.
How on earth can you have Acrobat 5.0 (which is a Power PC app and CANNOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES run on an Intel Mac) on your system? It has to look ike this:
    Indicating it's incompatible.
You can use AppZapper to uninstall ANY app on your Mac (it's a free trial)
    Then:
    Download the offline installer: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save it, but don't run it yet.
    Quit Safari
    Go to: Mac HD/Applications
Use AppZapper to "zap" the Reader 11 Application from there
    Go to: MacHD/library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdobePDFviewer.plugin from there
    Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin also
    Empty the trash
Mount the DMG and run the installer to reinstall Reader
When it finishes, reboot and open Reader from the Applications folder

Thank you for that. Now I have it installed, but when I go to print an Adobe pdf file, it tells me "The document could not be printed."  I have never had any problems running any Adobe product, but ever since an automatic Windows update (OS is Windows 7) about a week ago, this has been an issue as well as problems with other software I have.
