Welcome to Apple Discussions!!
I need to download the Java Runtime Version 1.4.2_06I don't know if Java Update 1.4.2 will give you that exact version, since my java is now 1.5. Any files I have left over refer only to "1.4.2" with no suffix.

    Hi,
I need to download the Java Runtime Version 1.4.2_06 and I cannot seem to find a place to download the proper installation file. The Sun site was no help and I can't seem to find it on the Apple site. Any help in getting this exact version would be greatly appreciated.

    2.       And is there any problem if we use Java runtime version 1.6 on PC?
It would be great if anybody can provide the information on the above.

  • How can I make Firefox use another installed Java runtime version?

For development purposes I have several Java runtime versions on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. I try to keep the number of installed JDKs and JREs to a minimum and I want Firefox to use JRE 1.7.0_21 (32 bit) since this came with a JDK version I am forced to use for another application.
Firefox however uses JRE 1.6.0_31, and correctly reports this as insecure. It offers me the option to upgrade, but I do not want to download and install another JRE since I already have said JRE 1.7.0_21 installed. I would highly prefer to just be able to point Firefox to that JRE. I don't see an option to select another installed JRE however.
I have already attempted to manually modify the pluginreg.dat file (I know, it says Do not edit...) by changing the JRE 1.6 entries to JRE 1.7, but upon restart my edits were overwritten and the old JRE was back. As a result I cannot view certain web sites (also corporate/internal) without having to switch to lesser browsers.
Please let me know how I can make Firefox use the already installed JRE 1.7.

Thank you for your response, cor-el. I was able to successfully add the JRE 1.7 plugin to Firefox by modifying the existing JRE 1.6 registry entries, but I would not recommend this procedure to users that are less confident in registry editing. Too bad there is not a more user friendly way to do this.
Unfortunately the Java applet I'm trying to view is still not displayed. I've dug a bit deeper and found that the applet explicitly specifies an older JPI version (1.5.0_02). AFAIK Firefox cannot deal with this if its installed JPI (now 1.7.0_21) does not match the version requested. So either I'm going to have to dig up this older JPI version and install that too, or just switch to an alternative browser to be able to view this applet.

  • Uninstall the old Java runtime enviroment 1.4.1_02

I cannot uninstall the old java runtime enviroment 1.4.1_02 from "Add/Romove Program" from Windows XP.
Everytime i click on the remove button there, it's still there after the uninstall process, even i did a restart on it.
As far as i could remember, i installed this runtime while i was using Netscape, but Netscape had been deleted from my computer, therefore i wanna uninstall it as well.
    THANX

Are the files removed from your computer or nothing happens neither in the Control Panel nor in the installation folder? you can solve the problem in several ways: have a look at the registry, if you know what to do... or simply reinstall the whole thing to the same folder you installed it the first time and then redo the uninstall process. IMHO it's only the uninstal file information that are being stored to your computer.
    Ciao

  • HT1338 I have a Callaway range finder and need a software update and they provided the following directions and have changed the Java runtime versions several times to get their exe to update.Hello Doug,  Thank you for contacting Callaway uPro Technical S

    Hello Doug,
Thank you for contacting Callaway uPro Technical Support.
Please follow the instructions below to sync your upro mx/mx+ with your computer and update to the latest software - 3.1.005.
    1. Ensure the upro sync software is running on your computer (you will see a black icon at the bottom right of your screen by the clock with a Callaway logo in it).
    2. Plug your device into your computer; select Sync then PC.
    3. The sync software should initialize and launch the uxplore website. If you haven't installed the upro sync software you can download it Here:http://www.callawayuxplore.com/downloads/
    4. Download this: http://media.callawaygolf.com/webupdate/callawaygolf/2012/products/accessories/u pro/upro-mx-plus/downloads/3_1_005_launch.jnlp.zip
    5. Double click "3_1_005_launch," then click the green START button
NOTE: If you get a "Unable to launch application" error please follow the instructions below.
1a. Navigate to "Control Panel" through the start menu located in the bottom left of your screen.
2a. Find and uninstall any "Java" applications. After uninstalling please go back to the start menu and right click on "Computer" or "My Computer" and select "Properties". In the right half of the pop up windows it'll say the Operating system your computer is running. If it says x64 bit click: http://tinyurl.com/lhkps2rto download the correct java for your computer. If it doesn't have a number please click: http://tinyurl.com/qysyctb to download the correct Java.
3a. Once the correct Java is installed please follow steps 1-5 listed above.
4a. To update your Java back to 7 please click: http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp. Once on the page select "Free Java Download" to run the download (Make sure to uncheck any Mcafee or toolbar installations during the installation).
Once the update has completed the device will restart itself. At that time you can unplug it or select Sync and PC to launch the uxplore site again to continue syncing courses.
NOTE: Do not try to sync courses to the unit while the update is running or both processes will fail.

Java isn't a part of the Mac OS X anymore, so you will need to install a version of Java. However, I don't know what version of java is required for this software. You need to explain to their support that you are using a Mac and what OS you are running. Download the latest java and see if that works.

  • Java Runtime version for Forms on Windows 7 64 bit

Does Application Server require version 6 of Java plugin? We have a user that recently upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7. They installed version 7 of the Java plugin. When they try to run forms from our application server they get a message indicating that they need to install Jinitiator 1.1.8.2 or higher. I installed version 6 on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine and it works fine with forms.

You can set (overriding) the java.vendor system property in java control panel:
    - open java control panel
    - go to on tab 'java', click 'view'
    - add -Djava.vendor="Sun Microsystems Inc."
Now forms run in java 7.
This is a workarround on the client side (disadvantage),
by the way, I tried to push this variable from the server side through java_vendor or java_arguments into html code but unsuccessfully.
NB: You can set "Sun Microsystems Inc." or something else but not 'Oracle Corporation' or 'MICROSOFT' because these strings are tested in the HTTPConnection.class in frmall.jar

  • Some question about java Runtime!

I have some jar files, such as class.jar resource.jar.
I hope to compress them to a single file.
The file can be run like this, java -cp . filename.
    Anyone can help me!!!

You need to have a manifest for your jar which specifies which main class to start. You can take a look at the docs to see how to go about doing this.

  • Java.vm.version property -- Time critical issue!

Yesterday I upgraded my Java runtime environment in response to a popup that automatically appeared. Today my code doesn't run because the system property java.vm.version is screwed up.
My program checks to see that the user's version of Java is at least at version 5. To do this, I call System.getProperty("java.vm.version") and examine the third character. Normally the value of the property is something like "1.6.0_03-b05", which indicates the JRE is at version 6. Today, the value returned is "10.0-b19", which is meaningless to me, and causes my program to exit.
Looking at all the system properties, here are some relevant ones:
    java.vm.version=10.0-b19
    java.runtime.version=1.6.0_05-b13
    java.specification.version=1.6
    java.vm.specification.version=1.0
java.version=1.6.0_05Is there a bug somewhere that is causing java.vm.version to return a weird value?
Am I simply querying the wrong property? Would it be more appropriate to query one of the other properties?
I've got about 50 users to support. If (or rather when) any of them upgrade their JRE, their copies will simply crash. I need to be proactive and address this problem before it gets critical. And if there's a bug in the release, I'm probably not the only program developer who will be caught by it.
    Awaiting a prompt response...
    Jerry Agin

This one caught me too. Guess I'll switch properties. I can't find any explanation of what happened to this property in Java 6.

Is this how Java Runtime Environment Error lets you know there is a problem. When a window pops up saying there is a Java Runtime Environment Error problem I normally send it.
Nothing every happens when I send Java Runtime Environment Error. How can this problem be fixed.
And why am getting Java Runtime Environment Error on my desktop. The second & third Java Runtime Environment Error cant fit in this post because of Maximum allowed is 7500 only. And I had to remove the bootom part of the first Java Runtime Environment Error just to make it fit.

  • No Java Runtime has been detected...

A website where I am ordering photos online uses Java Runtime. I get the following message:
Checking for Java Runtime Version 1.4.x or higher..............
No Java Runtime has been detected.
How can I install this software? Java itself is installed, version 6 on iMac Intel, and Java Webstart 11.7.0. But when I open the Java setting pane 1.4.2, the Java Runtime window is greyed.
    Thanks for any advice!
    Paul

Yeah it should be running, the grayed out window makes me think you should try this for starts...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

  • Different versions of Java webstart and Java Runtime Environment

Hi I am using a thin application client (swings application) which is downloaded as a jar file using Java Web Start. The earlier version of the application was deployed on the server and client using the version 1.5.0_09. Due to some performance measures we are changing the Client version of JRE to 1.6.0_03. Will this really help??
The approach we are following is bit confusing.
First we are launching the application in JRE 1.5.0_09 and creating a shortcut for that (WebStart shortcut). Later we are changing the Java Web Start version from 1.5.0_09 to 1.6.0_03 in the shortcut.
And of course also changing the JNLP j2se version tag to 1.6
The application we are launching using this shortcut but its throwing FailedDownloadException : Unable to Load Resource hxxp://ascdcf.....*.jnlp
The funny thing is when i launched the same shortcut using the 1.5.0_09 version i.e. only the WebStart version as 1.5.0_09 and the JRE on client as 1.6.0_03 the application starts.
I searched about this and came to know that webstart just deploys the application jar on the client in a browser independent form and then it is run on JRE. If thats the case (and if i am right) then Webstart version can be anything only the JRE version should be the latest as specified in the JNLP. Can anyone give me suggestions in this regard???
Also if this approach is correct where will we get more performance???
    1. Is it running application on updated JRE Version i.e. 1.6.0_03
    2. Or on updating Java Web Start i.e. 1.6.0_03 (curretnly which is not running)
Also the Java Web Start is a part of JRE then where does this lead to....???
I am just an amateur with great doubts.....kindly help......

  • Installing the old Java SE 6 Runtime version to open inDesign

Hi, I bought a new MacBook Pro 2014 and I can't open InDesign CS5 anymore. It tells me, I should install the old Java SE 6 Runtime Version. If I go to the Oracle side, first of all, there are all sorts of warnings about downloading an old version and also, there are quite a few Java SE 6 versions: Kid Java SE Runtime Environment 6u45 or Java SE Runtime Environment 6u43... Any help is much aprechiated. Thanks.

There is a version 6 installer on Apple's site

  • "Official ArchLinux" way to override version with java-runtime-common

Since the latest update to java-runtime-common it's no longer possible to override the default Java version using the JAVA_HOME environment variable. This means that to use a different version you have two options:
    * Change the default version each time you want a different version, thus forcing every Java app to use that other version
    * Edit the PATH such that the $JAVA_HOME/bin of the desired overriding Java environment is ahead of the wrapper, thus bypassing java-runtime-common altogether
Is there some "official" way to run with the non-default version while still using the ARchLinux official tool?
How should this be implemented in packages/AUR that require a specific version or versions of the JRE/JDK?
    Thanks!

    nomorewindows wrote:Sure, it's a command called archlinux-java
I already know about that command, it's nothing to do with running java in a particular version as a once-off thing. It's used to set the default java version, and to retrieve a list of versions.
To explain again, I need to have a default version set, but sometimes I want to run a different version. Previously I could just do something like this:
    env JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle INSERT_COMMAND_HERE
Now that doesn't work anymore. How are we "officially" meant to be doing it now, as the only way I can see now is to just bypass the wrapper by inserting the new JAVA_HOME in the PATH before everything else.
