  • About license info

    Wondering if this is the right forum to ask about license info...
    Out of my curiosity. I've read somewhere saying Oracle database license does not allow other reporting tools to mine data directly from the oracle database without a oracle report builder developer license???

    The only official place to ask license questions is your Oracle rep. Very few, if any, of the responders on this site work for Oracle, of the few who do, I would be surprised if any had the authority/knowledge to interpret licensing questions.
    Having said that, and adding "I'm not a lawyer but ...", as far as I know, there are no restrictions on what you can do with your properly licensed Oracle database as long as you remain within the user/CPU limits in your agreement.
    If a Report Builder license was required to use any reporting tool, then I suspect that 99% plus of the Oracle users out there would be in violation of their licenses. I know we would be.
    Report away.

  • Syncing laptop info to pc

    i have been syncing calendar and memo info from laptop to my pc using my z22 for several months.  today was the first time i lost all info inputed on the laptop last nite.  did i do something wrong?  can it be retrieved?  i'm not a tech person at all!  any help will be appreciated

    You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. Using 6.2 the file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. For 6.2, the files are located in the username folder in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.
    The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=26674
    Here is another link regarding data loss;
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=39503
    The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
    Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.
    Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;

  • MBP Cooling. Wondering about laptop coolers

    Hey all.
    I had my eye on the Zefyr Pro by Moshi, but that is well over my budget for laptop coolers, because it is $139 AU, so i looked around and found the zalman coolers, the NC1000 and NC2000. Im thinking NC2000 because apparently the MBP 15" overhangs the NC1000. But the thing im really worried about, is that the MBP Misses the holding strips due to its curved underside, and slides around on the metal surface, causing scratches. If anyone owns the NC2000, is this true?

    78ºC is a perfectly acceptable temperature. It is even on the cool side if you are running both CPU cores near 100% each. It is not considered hot at all on these machines. They can hit 90ºC or higher, and that is within temperature tolerances.
    If you continuously run the MBP fans at 6200RPM, you're going to end up with two burnt out fans in short order, and they will not be covered under warranty because of the abuse you've given them. They are not designed to run at that speed for extended periods of time, and they won't given the standard fan programming on these machines. I don't think I've ever seen even 5000RPM on my fans during DVD encoding, which maxes the CPU.
    and i dont want to fry my 3000 dollar MBP lol
    You won't. They are designed to be ran hard, and they are capable of running hard. The standard fan protocols implemented by Apple will keep the MBP within temperature tolerances. What you probably will do by running the fans at such high speed is significantly shorten their lifespan, causing you to have to replace them out of your pocket soon.
    And don't buy the useless cooler stand either.

  • Where can I learn about Laptop hardware/ram/etc information?

    First off: I had no idea how to phrase the above question.  Sorry if I categorized it wrong...
    Here's my predicament:
    I was thinking of downloading/purchasing Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium... However, I read the tech specs for it and was immediately frightened!  I have literally no comprehension whatsoever of Laptop hardware/processor/ram related things.  Does anyone know a good website that can explain those things (EVERYTHING) to me?  I don't want to buy/download something that won't work on my laptop!
    Sorry if that was really confusing.  I can explain more details if anyone needs.
    Here's the website that I was looking at in case anyone wants to check it out... (to walk me by each term and what not JK)
    http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/production/tech-specs.edu.html
    Please help!

    If you want to access to the hardware you have on your Mac, you have "System Information" or "System Profiler" app on your computer. This application is stored on /Applications/Utilities, and you can access here to see a complete report of all the hardware and all your apps.
    Just open that app and compare your hardware with the requirements of that application. Note that a 64-bit processor is a Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Xeon, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 processor.
    As you have posted this on the MacBook Pro forum, you must note that you need a 15 or a 17-inch MacBook Pro to run that application. If you have a 13-inch one, you can't run it because your MacBook Pro doesn't meet the graphic card requirement of that application

  • I initially set up Sync on my desk top but want my Favorites of my laptop to be on the server and have not set up my laptop yet. How do I replace the data on the server with my laptop info?

    I downloaded Firefox 4 on my desktop and setup Sync. I just recently downloaded Firefox 4 on my laptop and have not setup Sync yet on my laptop. I want the Favorites of my laptop to be the data on Sync and overwrite what is already on the server via my desktop. How do I make my laptop my main computer now? Also, once I setup Sync, does it allow me to download the Favorites to be permanent on my desktop or on my laptop if I reformat it at a later point?

    Is your device recognized by your computer? If yes, copy the pictures and videos as shown in this article:
    Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer
    If it is not recognized, try this first: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    Disable autosync in iTunes, right click on it in the device list and choose "transfer purchases" to copy apps and other media bought in iTunes to your new library.
    Do the same again and choose "backup", to create a manual backup without syncing.
    Since your device will be erased due to the new iTunes library during the first sync, you can use this backup afterwards to restore your settings and data.
    Set up at least one contact and event on your computer before you start, to be able to merge calendars and contacts.

  • Basic question about the Info.plist

    I have a whole bunch of appilcations I am developing. I when I generated my certificates I got a prefix. Do I put this prefix in my Bundle Identifier field in my Info.plist file?
    At present my Bundle Identifier says:
    com.yourcompany.$(PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}
    I imagine I change "yourcompany" to my company's name.
    But where is the PRODUCT NAME:identifier coming from? Where is this defined?
    It seems to take the app name as specified in the main project file.

    Ah, i didn't realize that the Get Info on the project file would yield slightly different results than the Get Info on the target; they both have long lists of C++ options, etc., but at the end the target has the product name, and that is where I can edit it.
    Thank goodness for the forums, the system is complex and the documentation weak.

  • Presently have Snow  Leopard and want to upgrade to Maverick but don't want to lose data.  How to download safely? don't am worried about losing info.  How to download it without risk to current data.

    Am currently using Snow Leopard and do not have access to I Cloud or latest version of I Photo.  Understand I can download Maverick free but am worried about losing data.  How to download Maverick and safeguard present files?

    Mac OS X upgrades are designed so that none of your existing Applications or User data are intentionally deleted during a System Upgrade.
    That works as long as there are no problems whatsoever.
    Your best protection from data loss is good Backups. Before you upgrade, buy an External Drive at least 2 to 3 times the size of your User Data, and Turn on Time Machine. USB-2 enclosure drives are cheap, and fast enough for backups. If you will use this drive for everyday data, a faster interface would be much better.
    Time Machine works quietly in the background, and does not "take over" your Mac to do the Backups. After the first large backup, it will quietly back up hourly, copying only the things that have changed since the last Backup. Time Machine is not the only Backup solution, or even the best solution out there. But it tends to be the Backup that actually happens, because you don't have to download any software, do extensive setup, or think about whether you should do it now or later.

  • Info about the info in styles panel

    Hi
    I am a little bit confused about what the CSS styles panel
    shows me.
    When I investigate the styles I have noticed that some
    properties have a line through them. Could someone explain it to
    me., because I have a problem that I think is associated with the
    inheritence of styles.
    I have created a test page that shows a gallery of thumbnails
    but the first one is not shown when the page is refreshed. All
    works fine in IE but not in Firefox, I have also placed the exact
    same code a little lower down and this works fine. Therefore I am
    concluding that the nested style classes are affecting the page.
    If you want to view what I mean the link is:
    Problem test page
    I have also attached the source code if your interested.
    Am I on the right looking at the styles to solve this
    problem.
    Many thanks VoodooJai

    You have redundant ; semi-colons at the end of the lines of css below (which will stop the css cascade)
    #main { background-image: url("images/0back_matisse_20.gif") };
    #main h1, #main h2 { color:#009 };
    #main p.cap:first-letter { color:#009 };
    Remove them and see if that corrects the problem.
    #main { background-image: url("images/0back_matisse_20.gif") }
    #main h1, #main h2 { color:#009 }
    #main p.cap:first-letter { color:#009 }

    Hi,
    It's certainly fine to run the notebook on just the AC Adapter.
    Regarding the battery, once a month, reinsert the battery, start the machine and let the battery fully charge.  Unplug the AC Adapter and let the machine run until you start to get a 'low battery' warning.  Fully charge it again, then let the battery drain to around 40%.  Shut down the notebook, remove the battery and store it seperately in a cool location.  Repeating this procedure every month will help to keep your battery in good condition.
