About Macbook pro Model Number

I want to ask about Macbook Pro Model # : ME294AE/A,that support Arabic language , Do (Apple in US) sell it ?, and if not,
Do Model# ME294LL/A support Arabic language ?

Apple US only sells computers with the "LL/A" suffix.  What do you mean by "support"?  With the proper font installed, you can type and download documents in the Arabic language.

Unfortunately, that's not it either.  On the bottom of my MBP from Mid 2010 it says "A1286".  That's great, but that's not the unique model number.  For instance, looking for a keyboard for it I found one that is compatible with:
    (MC371LL/A, A1286, MacBookPro6,2) - Mid 2010
    (MC372LL/A, A1286, MacBookPro6,2) - Mid 2010
    (MC373LL/A, A1286, MacBookPro6,2) - Mid 2010
Each one of those is MBP6,2 from Mid 2010, model A1286, but what about those first sets of numbers?  Is mine one of those three?  Or did they make more than just those three and mine may be one of the ones not listed?
I can't seem to find any way to know for sure, short of ordering the thing and hoping that it fits.  :-/
Those are "order numbers", in this case:
    MC371LL/A = 2.4 GHz CPU
    MC372LL/A = 2.53 GHz CPU
    MC373LL/A = 2.66 GHz CPU
These are all the flavors there exists for a model A1286 with identifier "MacBookPro6,2".
Going back to the excellent earlier post of babowa  I believe it works as follows:
The model number (A1286) which you can find on the bottom of your MBP doesn't say too much: it's used from late 2008 to mid 2012 MBP 15" models.
In addition you have model identifiers (MacBookPro6,2), which in your case nears it down to a mid-2010 model.
But you can also have different model numbers for a single model identifier and there comes in the EMC number Balboa mentions. I believe it's a unique comination between a model number and a model identifier. For example, the MacBookPro3,1 can be a 15" or a 17", which each a different model number (A1226 and A1229) so they each have a unique EMC number. I wouldn't know where to find the EMC number on a MBP, by the way.
One step down: within each model identifier you have several order numbers, the three you have listed above. Generally they distinguish different CPUs in standard configurations. However, if there is CTO/BTO option to upgrade a CPU it would not have its own order number. My BTO MBP 17" mid-2010 has an i7 2.66 GHz CPU but the order number is equal to the standard i5 2.53 GHz CPU.
Apart the very good website babowa provided a link to, you can download the free (donationware) application Mactracker from the App Store, which is a well maintained database of about every piece of hardware and every OS Apple ever released with a very friendly user interface. Click on "This Mac" and you got all the info I described above.

  • Macbook pro (model number a1226) no power

I have a Macbook Pro (model number A1226) - the computer has been working perfectly.  However, I let the battery drain and since then, the laptop will not power up.  I have tried everything:
    Using two different power cords
Plugging the power cord(s) into different outlets - even in different rooms
Pressing CTRL + Command + Power
Pressing Option + Command + Power
Taking out the battery, unplugging the mag power cord, pressing the Power Button for 10 seconds... plugging back in mag power cord... trying to start it.
Nothing on all of the above.  Someone please help.  There was absolutely nothing wrong with the computer and it has not moved an inch since the power went out!
    I appreciate it.
    Stephanie.

There has been no storms here.  So we're safe there.
Something new has happened though - the power indicator has now changed to amber and the battery pack that you can remove is now flashing green (there are 5 indicator lights on the battery and the first one is now flashing).
    Is that a good sign?
That is a very good sign. It means the battery is charging, and I suspect at this point you should be able to boot the MBP (leave it plugged in until the amber turns green).

Apple states that (of the MBP lines) it has to be from Mid/Late 2007 or later.  yours seems to be right on the line.
    Apple says
If you are running Lion, you can find out if your current Mac qualifies by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, choosing About This Mac, then clicking More Info.
you must also have the latest version of Snow Leapord or Lion

  • What is the correct part number for dvi to vga adapter for macbook pro model A1260

Can someone tell me the Apple part number for the DVI to VGA adapter that came with a Macbook Pro model A1260? (Early 2008)
My adapter has reached the end of useful life.
    Thanks!

You have a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2009 (MacBook Pro 4,1)
The Mac's port is a Dual-link DVI (VGA, Composite and S-video with adapter)
The DVI connector  connects to the Dual link-DVI port, thus you need a DVI to VGA adapter.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Micro%20Accessories/DVIVGA/
You also can search the Apple store online for the part, but it's so basic and simple that paying more for Apple's version is just for looks.

    1. The scrolling, as far as I've been able to determine, is by using the slide bar to the right of most diplays. There are no up or down arrows that allow slow movement
    2. The top and botton toolbars are not visible. The top one appears when you point the arrow to the top of the screen but the same doesn't work well if at all pointing the cursor to the bottom.
    3. When downloading, something jumps to the upper right of the screen. I could point and click it and get a diplay if my downloads. I was attempting to fix some of the above. Now the little thing jumps off the screen and I can't get to it.
4I was trying to installMacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.3. I got message it couldn't be installed on my system.
    5. The red yellow and blue bullets that allow shutting down, minimizing and maximizing are missing on most open windows.
Can you do something about these problems
It's problematical that one can't communicate directly with Apple to resolve these problems

    I am having 2 issues:
    - Lagging when opening applications
The dock animations are lagged. Occasionally I will get a lag if I open both Firefox and Safari. My cursor will lag but I won't get a "beach ball/pinwheel."
    - Brightness of screen will change on it's own
The brightness of my screen will change on it's own-- I have yet to relate it to anything I am doing. This happens when I am running on battery and when I am using the power cord. I haven't found any solutions on this forum.

Alright, I have gone in to the Genius Bar TWICE now. The first time, they blamed it on the RAM and replaced it. Then they blamed it on my case so I took it off. The second time, they couldn't find anything wrong with it so they told me to re-install Snow Leopard.
I had to call Apple to get a replacement disk to re-install my OS, HOWEVER, I can't do it. I want to throw my macbook against the wall at this point. Can anybody help me by looking at the attached screenshot?
I don't understand how I can go from my iBook (which is still kicking and running just fine) to this Macbook Pro that is more trouble than not.

  • My macbook pro model A1226 doesn't boot up and the screen is black, ived try all reset commands with no luck, or try to go in safe mode, and nothing, please help

Help please, my macbook pro model A 1226 doesn't boot up, i hear the optical drive sound starting but no screen light or booting sound, ive'd tried all redet commands, and safe mode but no luck, can anyone give me an solution to my problem. Tnx

It looks as if there's a problem with your GPU. With a Retina machine, that would mean replacement of just about everything, except, perhaps, the flash storage drive.
Print you kernel panic when you go to your Apple Store appointment. I'm betting that it's a faulty GPU but they will be able to diagnose exactly where the problem lies.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • I would like to upgrade my Macbook Pro Model A1278.

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade RAM and hard drive memory on my Macbook Pro Model A1278, but I'm not sure what is the maximum RAM I can install and what is the maximum hard drive memory I can install if its even doable. Also, which are the parts I should buy to upgrade the RAM and hard drive memory (if its doable).
Currently my macbook runs a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor; 3 MB shared level 2 cache, 2GB of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 160GB 5400-rpm hard drive, its a 13'' laptop, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory, it currently has MAC OS X version 10.6.8.
Thanks for the help in advance!

    Maximum Memory
    8.0 GB
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
The largest hard drive you can install is a 1.5 TB drive from Hitachi (HGST.)
You can find memory at OWC, DataMem, or Crucial.com. OWC also sells suitable hard drives, toolkits, and online tutorials.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the external drive then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • About MacBook Pro Warranty

    Hi guys,
I just have two quick questions about MacBook Pro,
First, how to identify a refurbished apple product? For example, if i am going to buy a MacBook from eBay, how do i know if it is not a refurbished laptop, is there a code which can be checked or something else?
second, what are the necessary documents for Apple Warranty if i am not in the country where i bought the product?
    Thanks!!!

The warranty is good worldwide and is tied to the machine's serial number, not to anything else. If your MBP's serial number identifies it in Apple's records as a machine that was sold for the first time +or factory refurbished and sold again+ within the past year, it will be covered anywhere.
Any Mac that has been refurbished by Apple is sold with the same warranty as a brand new computer, so you should have no qualms at all about buying a refurb. The warranty-coverage status of any Mac can be determined immediately by entering its serial number into the box on this page:

  • Which Retina MacBook Pro Model to Buy?

    Hi everyone!
I am studying engineering and are about to buy a new notebook. I have been using macs since 2008, so that is an obvious choice. I am also sick of my hard drive, so I want SSD models for sure. And I have tried out the retina models and I am certain I want one of those. Beyond that I am hesitant which one to buy.
I am an engineering college student. Here is what I need it for:
    - mostly everyday stuff
    - I don't mind if I can edit a full HD video conveniently on it once in a while, I don't mind however if I have to wait 3 minutes longer for it to export a video
    - I regularly have to do some CAD editing (that would be done under windows) this is however merely stuff that are needed for college, so we are not talking about entire power plants with billions of parts being loaded onto the screen, but rather smaller constructions
    - I never play video games. Somehow I don't feel the need, so that's not a factor for me whatsoever
    - I have tested the 13 and 15 for wheight, and I find the 15 to be fairly light too, so I don't think portability is a major issue with either machine
    However performance-wise I can't decide.
For the activities listed above should I go for 15 or would a 13 suffice? I am aware of the imminent upgrades, and OS X Mavericks as well.
    Thanks for your advice.

Not sure you know this but you can put a SSD in any standard computer, including all Macbook Pro models. Nothing new about that. It is just Apple doesn't offer the standard MBP with a SSD as standard equipment. A SSD can be included during the ordering process or you can install one yourself. An even better option is to install one of the hybrid SSD+Rotating HDD being offered by Seagate. It combines the speed of a SSD and the storage space of a conventional HDD for much less than a real SSD.

  • What is the problem with 15-inch Macbook Pro model 2011 after connecting to TV with HDMI chord?

Today we connected a 15-inch Macbook Pro model 2011 with HDMI chord to an Insigna Television. We plugged and unplugged couple of times. But recently the macbook pro is having technical issues. The following symptoms are:
    1. Macbook pro turns on and off
    2. The screen stays blue and keeps loading but does not load to the desktop so you can't access to anywhere
    3. The screen sometimes becomes fuzzy and the apple logo that shows before it loads to the desktop is fuzzy
    4. Sometimes fuzzy lines appear on the screen like you see on television when there's a bad signal
    5. The screen stays blue
    6. Sometimes little specks appear on the screen
Only thing we did was turn it off and restart but it still leads to the same symptoms above.
Does anyone have any clue what caused this problem? I am guessing it is due to the connection to the HDMI chord, since we didn't turn the macbook on and off when we plugged it, rather we just unplugged and plugged the chord while the macbook is running.
Another theory might be watching movies from an online source but the first theory seems to make more sense.
We scheduled a meeting with the genius bar tomorrow but does anyone might have any clue? And also any ideas how to fix this? This is an emergency because there are important files on the macbook we didn't back up and we hope the files are safe and we need to use the macbook ASAP. Let us know anything that might have caused this and/or any solutions or help. That would be appreciated and thank you.

Hey there! Welcome to the Discrete GPU issue clube ... post your relate here >>> 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card
And for GOD SAKE! Call Apple to tell them that you're another user with such problem ...  that action can improve a future recall. BTW the fix price for your problem is around U$ 1000,00 ... that's the meaning of the recall attempt

  • TS1381 My left arrow does not work on my macbook pro(model A1226).  I have reset nvram, performed a safe boot, pulled the cache to desktop, replaced .globalpreference.plist, test all other keys with keyboard view (all others work)  - HELP!!

My left arrow does not work on my macbook pro(model A1226).
I have reset nvram, performed a safe boot, pulled the cache to desktop, replaced .globalpreference.plist, & tested all other keys with "keyboard viewer" (all other keys work except for the arrow).
In addition, I have gone thru all the recommended checks with universal access and have booted from snow leopard dvd and the left arrow still does not work.
I have tried using the left arrow key in all of applications I use such as: excel, ms word, address book, calendar, iphoto, terminal, & highlighting an icon and using the arrows to move to another selected icon.
Here is the kicker!  In addition, I purchased a logitech solar bluetooth keyboard and the arrows work fine with my ipad but do not work when paired with the macbook pro. All other keys work fine on the macbook pro using the bluetooth keyboard.
I believe this says that the problem is not in my macbook pro keyboard. So where can it be?
Can anyone think of any other rabbit holes I can search?
    thanks and regards

I would also like to add that I've reverted the two cd drive and hard drive mods I did and the laptop is back to factory hardware and there is 0 corrosion or mold visible.
