  • Mega 180 - onboard soundcard is gone???

    Hello there!
I've turned on my Mega 180 this morning, and the Windows couldn't see my onboard soundcard.
I've checked in the BIOS,it's turned on.
    Last night everything was allright.
    What could be this???

I disconnected the smaller CPU fan,and the northbridge fan, because the bearings are too noisy
    My temps remain the same
Yes, I also removed the SYS fan (northbridge fan) and the temps remained the same (really rare, sure). If you have an AGP card or usually play games (using the onboards gfx), consider installing a little fan besides the radio module to extract hot air or your temps will dramatically raise.

  • [nForce] K7n2g-ilsr - Is the onboard soundcard FULL DUPLEX compatable ?

Hi, I need a soundcard that is full duplex compatable.  MY BIOS is showing HALF DUPLEX and is greyed out so that I cannot change it.  Can I change this to FULL DUPLEX and how do I go about changing it ?  Thanks for your time, Peter.

The manual only states that it can be set to either full or half but doesn't tell me how to change it.  How do I find out the driver version which is installed and hence how do I install an updated version ?
    Thanks, Peter.

  • ? about crashing issue w/ soundcard

I'd been having seemingly regular BSOD encounters, & recently got sick of it, so I ended up running a debugger program. It pointed to ctaud2k.sys as the problem, an Audigy file.
Problem is, I don't HAVE an Audigy, my soundcard is an Emu 0404. I used to have an Audigy, but I uninstalled it over a year ago. Is this just a straggler file that can be safely deleted?
I did a search on here before signing up, & the only thing that came up even remotely similar involved someone that still had a Soundblaster card instead of an Emu, so that didn't help. If it'll help, I can post what the Windows debug said and my system specs, I'm just not posting it right now because I wanna know if this is a necessary file first. The Emu knowledge base came up with nothing when I searched there too.
Edit: actually, I did some more debug tests & found out that while the ctaud2k.sys file showed up, the most frequent culprit was actually a completely unrelated program. I don't need any other help with this other than to know if ctaud2k.sys is a file I don't need.

A while back, I did install E-MU drivers for Audigy 2 w/ success (by running the ctzapxx.exe) --> if you look inside the driver installation for E-MU (EmuPMX_PCDrv_L6_1_82_01.exe\Binary\Drivers) you'll find that ... ctaud2k.sys is there too ...

  • Is my onboard soundcard gone for good?

im using a HP Pavillion dv6645us and my sound hardware is intermittantly turning off during use. when it turns off though, its gone until restart. now even when i restart it wont operate at all. im unable to install any drivers because the hardware is not found at all. my volume control has a red x over it and when clicking on it just brings up the troubleshooting program which only tells me that "hardware changes have not been detected" but offers no solutions.
ive been using Windows 7 RC1 for months now, and have only been having this problem for a few days now.
should i start looking for an expressport soundcare?

I also read the feedback forum... and noticed that "about" 9 out of 10 messages were completely off the topic that was stated on the main page
It may be that "someone" at Adobe simply tired of so much off topic chatter and decided to delete that forum

  • Drivers for onboard soundcard - Compaq Presario 6350us

I wanted to give this old computer a fresh start, but didn't have the recovery disks.  I did have a new version of Windows XP Pro and installed that to "start over" with this computer (the computer came with Windows XP).
Obviously the drivers for the monitor, printer, etc needed to be added after the new OS was installed.  The only problem I've had is with the sound card.
I can't seem to get it working.  In the device manager, the "multimedia" device shows an error - it doesn't recognize any device.  No device is available in the sound settings.
I've downloaded the files that the Compaq support website say I need for this specific model (Realtek I believe) but it doesn't have any effect.
I also went to the website of the sound device and tried to download their drivers - didn't work.  The download happens, the "install" happens, and it prompts me to re-start the computer, and after I do - nothing different.
    Help?!

    Hello @cakey,
I understand that you are looking for information on the optical drive that came in the Compaq Presario 6350us Desktop PC. The optical drive is a IDE DVD-ROM optical drive - 16x-max speed (Carbon) and the part number for it is 5187-1941. This is all the information I can find on this part you can try an online search for more information using the part number if you need to.
I hope it helps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • SoundBlaster Audigy RX/5 Bass Redirection

    Hi everyone,
i have buy the soundblaster audigy rx/5 and after i installed the driver i cant find any option to activated bass redirection. I wondered about because every onboard soundcard i ever had has this option.
So exists any way to enable bass redirection for example an alternate driver like the one for audigy 2 and 4 on this forum?

    Hi,
Unfortunately the Sound Blaster Audigy RX does not support bass redirection.
I found this site with more information on bass redirection and a download link here.
I've not tested this filter, so I cannot tell you if it will work to your requirement.
Use at your discretion and risk.

Sorry to desagree, but read the manual a see if it say to unplug the power cord and move the jumpers.
To me that is UNCOMPLETE and NONCOMPREHENSIVE!
This is the 4rth pc i build and this is different in any kind of mobo. My old 440bx didn't need to unplug the cord. I think that's a fault in the manual...
If it wasn't for this forum i would be making an empty reset cmos tilll today!!!
So, go and just read the manual, and you'll go nowhere!
I have some experience in this business, though as tec changes you have to try to get the most information about newer products.
In the beguining of this post i said my pc was built to work as a DAW...
My life in this business is reading BAD manuall's, search in the net, read and post in forums... I really have spent more time preparing the system than working on it...
So, don't you tell me the manuall "is quite clear". The illustration does not say "take the power cord, execute de reset wait a little bit..." well nevermind... I'm used to it!
JonFid, don't take it badly, i'm just tired, that's all!
    See you!
(HAAA, meanwhile, my PS stopped working... Just got a new 450w though, and a UPS 'cause i think it was a current peek problem... That's why i'm so pissed of... )

  • Onboard NIC (realtek) 785GT-E63

As many in newegg have noticed about this mainboard - the onboard NIC will lose connection (timeouts) every so often, and it's quite frustrating. Finally , i just popped in an old Linksys PCI NIC and it's doing great, but i would love to have the extra room by using the onboard NIC. It appears, from what I have read, that only the original driver for W7_64 bit actually works correctly, and every subsequent driver after that has the same timeout issues, and it does not only affect this MSI board - it has also affected a few others (AMD AM2+/AM3). I guess my question is, since i lost the original disk lol, is there anyone that can point me to the original driver included with the mainboard CD (W764 bit) ? I have been out of the PC building scene for about 2 years, but i do know what i'm doing, how to read manuals etc.... and search known issues, and indeed - this is  a very well known issue with this particular board, and it is my first MSI, usually using Giga or Asus, other than this issue, I love the board.
    Basic Specs AMD PHII 840/8GB Patriot DDR2_1066/ 600W PSU/ nvidia GTX260/W764

Well, as i suspected - a reformat, with W7 using an older driver as default, about two years old, likely a Vista driver works fine now. I just need to remember to not allow MS update or DL any new drivers for this NIC.  :D

  • MSI RS480M2-IL onboard sound problem

    Hello,
i bought a computer with the MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard and i'm having some problems with the onboard sound - i hear small interferences. Updated drivers and noise still continued. Took it to the store and they said they didn't detect anything wrong with the onboard soundcard or motherboard configuration. I ruled out electrical interferences because when i'm not listening to anything or playing, even with the sound at maximum, you don't hear the crackles. Also tried it with different sound system and they were still there. I have a friend that told me that the onboard sound is never clear. I have uploaded some files where you can hear the interferences. Do you think this is normal for an onboard card and if i want better, i should buy a soundcard or do you think they better exchange the motherboard? I read in some forums that the onboard sound of this motherboard crackles - i think the sound heard below can qualify as that and that i should buy a better soundcard to play my games, right? Thanks for your attention!

Yes.....I saw that too.  In my opinion, it an error in the description.  The Realtek site has all the info on that a3.75 set.  On your prior post you asked about install procedure.  You're correct.  Uninstall the old set using Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and run Setup on the new package to install.
FYI.....I'm on broadband connection and can EMail large files.  If that new set fails, I could zip and Email you that old A3.67 set.  However, it's over 14MB in size (I checked), so you need an EMail account that can accept that large an attachment.  Let me know by Private Message in the Forum with EMail address.  I'll be in and out the rest of the day, so I may not get a chance to send until later.
I'm also wondering if MSI has a server with legacy drivers that the moderators could check and provide link.  Download would be much easier solution on everyone with this problem.
Let's see if the newest drivers work first.

Edit:  Read this thread and it should make you feel better.

As you can see, I also encountered (along with others) the problem with the A3.72 set that's on your CD.  At least it's fixable.  Hang in there.

  • [Solved] Two soundcards loading in random order

    Hi,
I have two soundcards that I want to use for different purpose. I recently post this tread to resove my issue:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=102677
To resume, the onboard soundcard is connected to my pc speakers and is used to play every sounds like videos, etc. The second soundcard is connected to the speakers in my living room and is only used by mpd to play back music. So I can watch videos on my pc while my girlfriend listen to music in the living room and she does not hear the sound of the video. In mpd, I can select one or another output, or the 2 at the same time.
The solution works fine most of the time, but sometimes after reboots the two soundcards loads in a different order. So the videos play in the living room and mpd plays in my pc speakers.
I tried setting the orders of the sound cards in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf like this
    option snd_ac97_codec index = 0
    option snd_ca0106 index = 1
where snd_ac97_codec is my onboard soundcard and snd_ca0106 is the other one, but it does not seems to be taken in consideration.
I think it's udev that should be tell to load one before the other, but it is over my competences.
In case it helps, aplay -l returns this:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
    card 0: SI7012 [SiS SI7012], device 0: Intel ICH [SiS SI7012]

    So, any ideas?

i have this issue as well but have been to lazy to do anything about it.  what i've been doing is whenever this happens to me i run a very basic script that removes both sound drivers and reloads them in the correct order:
    #!/bin/bash
    rmmod cx88_alsa snd_hda_intel
    sleep 1
    modprobe snd_hda_intel
    sleep 1
    modprobe cx88_alsa
    sleep 1
    alsactl restore
there seems to be a lot of suggestions for how to deal with this issue over at the alsa wiki, using udev should probably be a last resort.  here are two links that you may find useful:
    http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/MultipleCards
    http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Udev
i'm going to go ahead and try the suggestion listed here.  however, i won't know right away if it's working, as my system seems to load the wrong driver at boot in default slot < 50% of the time.
    edit1:
    k2000 wrote:
It says to go to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and set the defaults with something like this:
    install sound-slot-0 modprobe snd-card-0
    install sound-slot-1 modprobe snd-card-2
but there is no /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file in arch. Is this file located in another place?
if the file doesn't exist create it with just those commands in it, modprobe will automatically read the *.conf files it finds in /etc/modprobe.d/

  • Firefox audio stops working or crashes if I unplug my USB soundcard

Hi, I use windows 7 64-bit and Firefox 10.0.2, and here is my problem that I have with all versions of Firefox that I've used. I currently use my M-Audio Fast Track USB audio interface as a soundcard on my PC. The audio on it works just fine with FF, but every time I mistakenly unplug it (even if its for less than a second), the audio stops completely on my flash videos (until I restart my browser with the usb soundcard back in), or sometimes hangs (forcing me to close it the hard way) after a while if the connection has been interupted with the soundcard, while all of my other applications remain to work without restarting them.
Is there anything that I can do that will fix this, or will there possibly be any fixes to this in the near future?

I have the exact same problem and my setup is very similar to yours. I have an Hd2900XT and ASUS M2R32-MVP board aswell. It must be some kind of issue with the motherboard i think. Could someone please look into this?

  • Onboard sound not detected

ive pulled out my Sound Blaster (after i have uninstalled all drivers and software) and enabled the onboard sound card in the BIOS. (set it to "Auto" as there is no "enabled" option)
but it isnt detected by Windows? why? i dont have any other soundcard installed nor any drivers, so where is it?

no there wasnt any problems with FarCry and the Sound Blaster...
anyway, the problem is, it isnt detected at all! there is no trace of it in the device manager, nor anywhere else. when i put in the MSI drivers CD the soundcard drivers arent even listed! just the other enabled stuff like USB and so on. but no sound card! weird!
now i have formated my C drive, reinstalled Win2k and there it is! the onboard soundcard. played farcry with it, performance was even worse. one night wasted, lesson learned: onboard sound is bad for you!
