  • Nokia 6280 connectivity cable/PC Suite

hi! i have a new 6280 and have installed all PCSuite and cable drivers software and updates. i have a CA-53 cable. below are all the specs. i followed installation instructions correctly. when i get to the Get Connected setup window, i click "cable connection", then "next" and connect the phone and cable to the pc. nothing happens in this window, but i get a windows error message that says "the device has malfunctioned" and "windows doesn't recognise it."
after a minute or so, my phone sees it has a cable connected and i choose the default mode, but still the "Get Connected" setup window doesn't see it, and windows gives the same error message bubble as before.
i tried selecting the phone in PC Sync, but it doesn't find my phone.
i also check the settings for "cable connection" in the Connection Manager, but the configure button stays deactivated. i've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing works to continue with the setup. the only thing that seems to have worked is in "My Computer" i can see the Nokia Phone Browser and access that. but it only shows how to add a new contact or write a text message.
now i'm just wondering if i need to have my phone chip card activated, meaning that it's online and can make calls. well, it won't be activated for another week. is that what this is all about? if it is, it's not clear in the setup. it only states that this section of the setup is for connecting the phone to the computer, and no mention at all about connecting to the internet or my phone line provider.
all i want to do is continue the installation of the software and i want windows to recognise it.
i checked the help files and did as they say. the device manager has no listing of any nokia products - wireless or otherwise.
please can you tell me what to do? thanks.
    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows XP Build 2600 Service Pack 2
    Nokia PC Suite: Version 6.81.13.0
    Connectivity Cable Drivers: Version 6.81.1.2
Bluetooth stack: Microsoft Bluetooth stack Version 5.1.2600.2180

While phone connected to PC, right click My computer - manage - device manager and see if there are any unknwn yellow question mark devices. If yes, highlight it - right click - uninstall.
    Boot PC
Also battery boot your phone and run factory settings to it.
Now connect the phone again and see if it pops up the question about the USB mode right away (that is how it should work and not wait for a minute to appear.
I have 6280 and I tried to connect it without the SIM card and it connected normally. I also got the question in phone about the USB mode immediately.
But, I don't know is there a difference if you connect the phone to PC first time ever without a SIM
If it continues to be so that the USB mode does not pop up, I would consider taking the phone to a service center.

  • Nokia 6300 data cable connect

    Hi
I need the drivers for a PC to allow it to transfer data with a Nokia 6300 via a data cable connection. For preference they need to work with both Windows 98 and Win Xp, or only one of them at a pinch.
Does anyone know where on the web I can download this softwear?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Larry

    Hi thanks for the help.
I didn't know about Nokia Suit which I guess it is a comprehensive PC managing system for the phone.
I'm looking at the information page for Nokia PC suite; this is the basic version of the new Nokia Suite.
It says it requires at least 300MB free space, which is a lot to set aside on an older computer, and it also requires Win Xp Professional or Home Sp 2 or later. It doesn't say what computing power is optimum. My Xp is service pack 1.
I'm thinking it would be better if the basic drivers were available as a stand alone package for basic connectivity through a data cable as I feel introducing all the extras may undermine my own PC.
I've been looking over past discussions on this site about this issue and I've found this:
Problem With Nokia 6300 USB DATA CABLE OPTION Not Functioning
"Hey guys there is a solution with you problem and it works fine for me now. After all the comments & suggestions i read i finally got the best solution for all of you. This can be very simple. Try to install the Nokia PC Suite v7.0.2 in your pc after that try to search & find the Nokia USB connectivity cable driver v6.8.2 in the web if u get it. Then uninstall the usb connectivity cable driver v7.0.2 in the CONTROL PANEL ADD/REMOVE after that install the "usb connectivity cable driver v6.8.2 in ur PC then try to plug in your Nokia 6300 it will install automatically ur phone. PRESTO your unit can be now Recognized of your PC."
Will usb connectivity cable driver v6.8.2 work for the 6300 model and can I achieve a adta exchange through a USB data cable with this programme setup alone?
    I've also found this:-
How do I connect Nokia 6300 to the PC?
"You dont even have to download the suite as your fone once connected will show as another harddrive, thus allowing you to drag and drop appropiate music etc to your fone or use free websites such as www.zedge.com"
Is this true and if so might it work for my computer on Win Xp Sp1, or even Win98 SE?
At the moment I'm unable to try anything out as all I have is the phone.

  • Nokia 6210 Nav, PC Connectivity Cable Drivers

When trying to connect my 6210 to my PC it takes about an hour or more and it says it is installing the PC Connectivity Drive. After all this it seems to only stay connected for a short time and then drops out. Can anyone offer help? Thanks

if you're on vista then it's common for this OS to take very long time to install drivers. but that should happen the first time you connect the phone only, after installation the phone should connect without problems after that.
anyway,1- try to remove your version of nokia pc suite
2- run a registery cleaner if you have one
3- download the latest version of nokia pc suite
4- install the app, wait for it complete and ask for a reboot.
5- reboot the pc, connect the device.
if you experiance any problems with driver installation again, stop automatic search of drivers , and direct the search to (c:\program files\nokia\connectivity cable drivers) that should speed the installation.
    i hope that will help

    hi,
i had nokia PC suite version 7.1 which i uninstalled but the nokia connectivity cable drivers were not getting uninstalled, every time it gives me a error about the .msi file mising. i've tried in the safe mode but no go. i've also deleted all nokia folders from the program files and the registery in safe mode but still no go... i've also tried using the PC suite cleaner.. but still the same issue...
     Please help
    regards,

You obviously deleted the files before uninstall. Just reinstall PCSuite. Use a program called Revo Uninstaller to perform a clean uninstall and clean up the registry mess after with the same prog.

    According to:
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/p/19351107/19767627.a spx#19767627
It has DVI ports.  This means you are best to use an adapter that supports DVI.  Note there is no audio that carries over DVI.  What you need is a mini-Displayport to DVI adapter, and the proper DVI cable. Since Dell doesn't have the specs, you'll need to tell us if you have pins or holes, and how many are grouped.

  • Unable to un-install Nokia Connectivity Cable Driv...

I am having the same issue as many other users with Nokia PC Suite 6.8.
I am running Windows XP SP2 on a IBM R52. In the office, they installed the latest driver updates from IBM and since then, I cannot use PC Suite. So I upgraded to 6.8 to no avail.
I am getting the message when choosing "get connected" "there is no available connection type and therefor connection to the phone cannot be established....etc"
I used PC Suite Cleaner 3.4. It does however not remove the Connectivity Cable Driver and PC Connectivity Solution. So I tried that in Control Panel. I get the message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is currently unavailable. Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver.msi in the box below". I get the same message when I try to uninstall the PC Connectivity Solution.
I have also run registry cleaners, removed PCSuite, rebooted etc etc...
I feel that I must also remove the Connectivity Cable Driver and PC Connectivity Solution but I simply can't.....
    help please!! thanks in advance...

  • The older version of Nokia Connectivity Cable Driv...

Trying to install the actual version (even Beta 3.1) of Ovi Suite fails with the error message "The older version of Nokia Connectivity Cable driver cannot be removed" (Error 1714)!
Im running a Win 7(64bit) Pro system and used to have PC Suite 7 installed.
PC Suite 7 was uninstalled before I attempted to install the new Ovi Suite. As it failed with the error message above, I called the Nokia hotline, deinstalled all existing Nokia software and tried to run PC-Suite Cleaner 7.1.1. Regretfully, PC Suite cleaner hangs up immediately.
Scanning my computer for Nokia entries on advise from the hotline, all Nokia files were deleted and the registry was scanned and cleaned from Nokia entries as well.
Obviously some remains of the cable driver are hidden in the system somewhere.
Could anybody please help ? I need to synchronize my X6 on a regular basis.
    Thanks !

Can't you see 'Nokia Connectivity Cable drivers' in the Windows Control Panel ?

  • Nokia 6700 USB cable connectivity problem -fixed-

Ok, got my 6700 today. Everything worked like a charm, until I tried to connect it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest Nokia PC suite which supports this phone (7.1.30.9) and connected the phone. Vista was unable to install a driver, and the phone was listed in the device manager as 'unknown usb device'. The phone display reported 'no response from host' after plugging in the usb cable.
I searched online for a solution, and tried the following:
    - repaired the install of the Nokia connectivity cable driver: no success.
    - deinstalled the nokia pc suite, ran the pc suite cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled the pc suite: no success.
    - threw away the unknown usb device in the device manager and plugged the cable back in so that Vista would try to install the driver again: no success.
    - tried other USB slots (not behind HUB): no success.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to take out the supplied 1gb micro sd card and transfer some data to it using a card reader. When I looked in the root of the sd card, I noticed that there was an executable called pc-suite.exe there, among some other files. I decided to delete those files to see if they were causing the problems, I deleted the following files:
    - autorun.inf
    - launcher.exe
    - pc-suite.exe
    - qf
Replaced the micro sd card in the phone, plugged in the usb cable and voila: connection! Everything worked like a charm.
During my online search I noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing connectivity problems with the 6700. Maybe this fix will help other people as well, that's why I decided to post it here. ;-)
    Peter

Thanks Peter, nice job - same problem, your solution is working. Shame on Nokia - i have so many problems with E52, and now with 6700 - why ? Is it so difficult to make a reliable software ? So disappointed ... maybe Apple is the solution - but after 10 years with Nokia why change with Apple ?

    hi guys, hi nokia
kind of same problem here. I installed the PC Suite from the web. When I want to save my data (contacts, sms, settings) via Content Copier it stops after the contacts and I get a message "connection lost".

  • Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver repaired but still...

Hey there, I had moved messages stored in the phone to PC via Nokia Suite before, however I got a nokia connectivity problem so nokia suite cannot detect my phone/search it via bluetooth now.  I tried to fix it by using the method of repairing ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’ but it doesn't work.  Everything went smoothly but still nokia suite cannot detect anything.  So I may need to reinstall the whole nokia suite but the main concern is that if I reinstall my nokia suite, the SMSs stored in the Nokia suite will lose is it?  So may i know what I can do?
    Phone: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
Version of Nokia Suite: 3.8.48 (should be the latest)
    Computer: Windows 7
    Thanks.

Thanks however, the problem is that Nokia Suite cannot detect my phone so how can it copy the text to the clipborad?

I have an unlocked Nokia 3110 Classic with 2 GB MicroSD Nokia MU-37 memory card. On my PC operating system is Windows XP Service Pack 3. For connection with PC I use an original Nokia DKE-2 USB 2.0 data cable. My problem is when I install any version (from 6.5 to the latest 7.0) of Nokia PC Suite with Nokia Connectivity Cable driver or separatly this driver first and then Nokia PC Suite I got a problem under Device Manager with two devices that have yellow exclamation (saying: The drivers for this device are not installed.(Code 28).To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver). They are under Modems: Nokia 3110 Classic USB modem, and under Ports (COM & LPT): Unknown device. This unknown device and also Nokia 3110 Classic USB modem (with yellow !) is present when I connect my phone and PC with USB cable and when I choose Standard Nokia mode. I tried to solve this problem on many ways (unsuccesful) following NOKIA instalation instructions and troubleshooter. When I try to install (or reinstall) a driver for this two problematic devices with Hardware Update Wizard choosing Windows Update or any other way (automatic - recommended or another) at the end I got this message: 1. Windows can't install modem with two answers: YES or NO, if I click YES, there is a new message: A service installation section in this INF is invalid. If I click NO at the first message the window of Hardware Update Wizard is just closed with no other messages !
So please if anyone here knows (or had this problem before and solve it) how to solve this problem, help me, because I am desperate.
I'll be grateful for any help !

In this attachments are pictures (screenshots) of my problems (in .bmp format): screenshot of Device Manager on my PC, Unknown device in Device Manager,Nokia 3110 Classic USB Modem in Device Manager and Windows XP Professional SP3.
You'll see that I use on my Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 some Vista themes. So, don't think that this is some "fake Service Pack 3", this is the real Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (last and official, not release candidate) downloaded from Microsoft Web site, but I use some Vista Customization Desktop Tools or something like that, I don't know exactly the name of this program, but that program install Vista themes that I like.
P.S. This attachments are pictures in .bmp format but I added a .txt extension because this forum only except files with .log, .txt, .bat, and .xml extensions, so if you are going to save and open it on your PC please remove .txt extension. If not, just click on it.

uninstall any old programs like nokia pc suite, and any associated drivers from the Add/Remove programs list within Windows XP. make sure you do a thorough registry clean and junk file clean using appropriate software then try again. this time it should work, also make sure your phone is fully charged and that it is connected in PC suite mode.
P.s. if it is connected in PC suite mode, this usually means that you should install nokia pc suite first so that the device is recognised as being in pc suite mode, then you can install Ovi suit additionally after that.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • The old version of NOKIA Connectivity Cable Driver...

Hi can anybody help me with this??? I had 2 years ago older Nokia phone, and older version of PC Suite installed on my PC. I sold the phone and "probably" not correctly uninstalled the PC Suite software. I bought NOKIA 6300 now. But when I am installing Nokia PC Suite 6.85.14...it is saying = "The older version of Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" cannot be removed", and it stops installation.
WHAT SHOULD I DO? There is nothing in Add/Remove software, I cannot find anything in registers....
    PLEASE HELP ME.
    THANK YOU A LOT.

    Hi jasrad
You perhaps need to go to microsoft.com and download Windows Installer Cleanip Utility "msicuu2.exe"
Go to Start > Programs > Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
When you run this it looks a bit like the add/remove program window. Now select "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solution" programs.
Now go back to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and try and remove "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and the "PC Connectivity Solution" programs. They should now uninstall.
    Reboot your PC.
