I believe this is only valid if you have the latest software version. Open the camera application and go to settings. There should be a setting there to use the secondary camera.

I'd like to buy the nokia 5800 on the orange website, but i'm not sure if i should.
I heard theres many problems with it, and its not good.
I'll like to get a touch phone and i don't want to pay too much for it.
If you have nokia 5800 tell me why its good or bad.
Also if i buy it though online, orange website will i get the 8GB and the case for it?

Good:
Lots of apps and games (despite what Apple said in WWDC earlier this month!)
Simple to use interface
Flexibility: accessories, memory cards, etc
Lots of great themes to make the UI look exactly how you want it to
Regular software updates that add stability and new features
Good GPS software that comes bundled with the phone for free (Nokia Maps 3.0 Beta is great!)
Value for money: a good device at a reasonable price
BBC iPlayer! There's an iPlayer app that lets you download shows and watch them on the move. It works really well on the 5800. I watched the latest episode of Top Gear on the train to work this morning!
Bad:
Nearly 16mm thick (but you get used to it)
Poor screen visibility in direct sunlight
Resistive screen needs pressing rather than touching (you get used to it)
Inconsistencies in the interface (single-tap vs double-tap: Nokia is apparently working on this)
I'd highly recommend this phone. As shayesta said, all 5800s come with an 8GB card in the box. Nokia recently stopped including cases, although Nokia's 5800 website is a bit confusing.
A case isn't listed in the "What's In The Box", but the accompanying picture shows a 5800 in a case...

Nokia 5800 - help

I need help...... I still new in using this phone.
1) I have update my device to V30.0.011, unfortunately I found out that my chinese language is missing.
2) When I go to profiles to change ringtone or message tone,its appear "not enough memory to display all ringtone.
3) When I use WLAN - it show not gateway reply .
Please help .... where can i download the software for the matters that i facing :-(

you can get the language you want from nokia care for a small fee. it appears that your language was added on top of a different product code that Chinese was not meant for. if you do this keep in mind that you will lose your language again if you update your phone or have to reformat it.
for your other issues consider these codes and see if this helps you any. read carefully
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working.If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

About Nokia 5800 XpressMusic latest update

V52 has released, but on Nokia site says latest firmware is V51. Then i've contacted Nokia through above "contact us" link. They said "they don't know about V52. Latest is V51. And they said V52 coming soon". So i just wanna know is it a official update? Why site not updated yet?

About nokia 5200 HELP!

in the left of the nokia 5200 mobile phone theres a button in a sign of a musical note when i press it a mp3 music starts playing after it finishes it starts again from the begging i have like 3 mp3 songs at the music folder and just one of them starts playing when i press that button

If you go to menu- media- music player - options - all tracks. Look and see if all 3 music files are there.
If not, go to music libary - update libary. This should update so all tracks in the media player. To check go back into all tracks and it should now show all the music files.

How to update the firmware of Nokia 5800 to v21
It is good news that firmware update for Nokia 5800 was released already. New firmware v.21 is available. If you also own a 5800, just follow the simple instruction to update your v20 or v10 to the newest v21.
Make sure that your battery is full (VERY IMPORTANT)
1. Go to Dial screen and press *#0000#
2. Press Options -> Check for updates
3. Connect to the Internet with any APN (WiFi is recommended, however EDGE is fast enough for this). 4. Wait until the download finished. Phone will launch the dialog asking for update, just press Now. 5. Press Accept and Accept and the phone will be switched to Updating mode.
6. It takes around 10 minutes to update, so be patient. After that, the phone will be rebooted automatically.
7. Check by *#0000# again. Congrats! Your 5800 is now v21!
As I can see, there are so many improvements and worth to update for example, better camera functionality and the phone operates faster than previous version.
Best Settings for Video Playback on Nokia 5800 Xpress Music
Nokia 5800 as the multimedia phones makes you able to enjoy watching the video and music with it. The question is, how’s to do to convert that videos and what are the best setting used for. I have convert many videos into my phone, I found that most video files can play with this phone such as mp4, 3gp, rmvb and flv files. But of them plays well but some are not. After many tries, I finally got the best results for Nokia video files. My video in 5800 was full screen, high quality and sounds very well. Here are my settings:
Video Resolution: 480*320
Video Bitrate: 768 kbps
Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
Video Format: MPEG-4 (be sure not to use H264, as it’s not supported in the current firmware)
Audio Format: MP3
Audio Channels: 2 Channels
You can apply these settings above in whatever application you used when converting videos into 5800. Then I am sure you will get full screen, high quality and flawless video in your phone.
Settings for video playback on Nokia N97, N95, N85 and other Nokia phones.
Nokia N97: Video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4; the video resolution is 360*640. Audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N96: video playback formats are 3GP, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo, WMV 9; the video resolution is 240*320. Audio formats are AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N95: video playback formats are MP4, 3GP. Video resolution is up to 640*480, audio format is AAC stereo.
Nokia N85: video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, and WMV. The resolution is 240*320. The audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV and WMA etc.
OK, I will not list all settings of Nokia phones. If you are interested you may get more relative information on Nokia official website.
How to transfer video files into Nokia 5800
I have download some videos from video website such as Youtube, Google video. But I can’t watch these videos in my phone. As these videos were flv files, Nokia 5800 can’t play such videos. I use Internet Tablet Video Converter to convert it, but it shows “Unsupported Video File Type”. Then I got to know some best video converter that seems professional for Nokia phone, I free download its trial version and tried it, and it works very well. Below are what I do:
Click Add button to add video files from your computer, set your videos according to the above settings and select Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 format for your video. Then just click convert button to start the conversion. After the conversion complete, you may watch these videos with Nokia 5800.
Also you may get music from video in this way. But pay attention to the format. As Nokia 5800 support mp3 audio format, you should select “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)”.
How to convert DVD files into Nokia 5800
Obviously phones don’t have DVD drives, so to watch DVD on a phone you have to convert it into a video file on your PC then drag it into your phone. I also follow the above settings and convert DVD files into MPEG-4 video with Daniusoft DVD Ripper. the results are excellent.
After insert your DVD into the DVD Drive click the Open DVD button to upload DVD files on to this program. Click Settings button to set your videos according to the above settings I listed. Click Profile drop list to select “Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” format for your Nokia video. Then click Convert button to start the conversion. In few minutes the whole process will completed.
If you select audio format “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)” you may also get music from DVD.
To transfer files into Nokia 5800
In the above tutorial I have explain you how to convert Nokia videos from DVD and other video files. Then you need to transfer these videos into your phone.
1. Make sure your computer and phone are both switched on. Also make sure your 5800 have a memory card in its slot.
2. Plug the small end of the microUSB cable into the phone’s USB socket, which s under a plastic flap in the top left corner.
3. Plug the larger end of the microUSB cable into a USB port on your computer.
4. On your 5800 it should ask which mode you wish to use. Choose “Mass Storage”.
5. Open the memory card window (probably called “Removable Disk E:”), drag your video files into the video folder.
6. After finished transfer files, do not disconnect the cable yet. You should make it safe to disconnect the cable. You may do this by click a small icon in the bottom right corner of the screen that appears when the phone is connected.
7. After you have made the device safe to remove, you can unplug the cable at both ends.
Some useful tips to make the Nokia 5800's battery last as long as possible
Sometimes you may have to stop talking with your friend or watching videos with your phone as low power of your battery. It is more inconvenient if you are in travel and have no alternative battery. Here are some tips to make your phone battery last as long as possible when using telephone.
Do not switch the phone off. As switching a phone on uses far more battery power than simply leaving the phone on.
Shut down unnecessary applications.
Turn down the 5800’s screen brightness to the lowest acceptable level.
Switch off your 5800’s screen when not in use.
Use headphones instead of speakers when listening to music or watching movies.
Avoid using the camera flash unnecessarily.
Use 2G instead of 3G.
Switch off Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi.'

Help in nokia 5800 logging to the web automaticall...

I bought the new nokia 5800 navigation edition but i have a problem that the phone log into the web every day automatically without my permissions so it costs me the daily price for web in my country
so please I want to know which application or what log into the web every day and how to stop it as I tried every thing put I couldn't stop it

forget about everyone who says to reset you're phone using codes.
they do not help in any way and only fix things untill you have your settings again and then everything goes back to the same.
there are services from your network carrier that use an automatic connection and for those you'll have no chance whatsoever of removing.
what you can do is not to delete the settings for the internet but to rename them.
imagine that you have in your internet setting something like
internet.vodafone.com
edit it to internet.vodafone.c
you know that it's a .com and when you need internet you just need to add the rest.
it's a pain to keep doing this i know but it's a solution.
*warning* - it's possible that you will not be able to edit that configs where they are located. mine are in the uncategorized and those are locked, you can delete them but you can't add them.
if you have the internet settings there just write the settings on a paper and then delete them.
go to the internet section, add a new one with that data and make it the last in the priority.
set it to "after permission" and you'll have a better control of the internet connections (like coolbelief told you in his first post)

Nokia 5800 VERY low battery life! Please help!

I bought a Nokia 5800 last week off a friend.From day one it has had problems.
I've managed to somehow fix those but now the biggest problem i have is that the battery life is VERY low. Y'day i charged the phone overnight and today i was using Whatsapp(for abour 2 hrs) and listened one song and now(it's noon) the battery is EMPTY!.
I ve heard that this phone has really good battery life but i only used the ohone for about 4-5 hrs and the battery is already empty!
What do i do? please help me!

hi, i was wondering if any one could help me as im new to all this, right i want to download applications on my phone but it wont let me,
im on virgin network and have a nokia 5800, it will let me go on th web site ovi to download the applications, but when i press download, it says 'opening a secure connection. content cannot be seen by anyone else. continue?' so i click yes and then about 2 minutes later it says ' unable to create a secure connection to this server' and has done this every time i try even when i click no it says it! so im confused can any one help please!

I am having a similar issue with a collegues phone.
The first thing I did was go to the coneection settings and remove the proxy after a simialr experience on my N95 with T-Mobile.
This is a really odd one. Apparently the SSL sites work fine in the native browser with GPRS for a day or so after powering on the new phone (we are on one replacement already).
After that it asks if yo uwant to connect to the secure site OK. Looks like it's loading and then gives the message: "Web: Unable to perform operation." before closing down.
Attempts with a 3rd party browser just say that the site is unavailable though I did once, after 5-10 consecutive tries, manage to display https://gmail.com (or what it re-directs to).
Still waiting for a call back from the Virgin tech team on this one.
The proxy thing seems to work for most though but to save you writing down the port and loosing the paper in case you need it I recomend copying the default connection to one with a different name, removeing the proxy from the copy and choosing that to connect through. That way you can easily switch back if there are any issues.
Also, keep an eye on your bill. I've heard that some providers base their payment plan on the proxies so if you are on an unlimited data plan removing the proxy might make data used chargable as if it was off plan.

I need help with my Nokia 5800 update to v40.0.005

Hey im having trouble with updating my Nokia 5800 to v40.0.005.
The version on my phone at the moment is v21.0.025 and when i try to update it on my phone it says no update available.
I tried downloading Nokia Update Software and getting it from there but the program wouldnt work either.
Is there any other way i can get the v40.0.005 were it should work? or even getting the knetic scrolling and applications without needing to get v40.0.005?

Under your battery, there's a product code on a sticker (X: 0586707). Go here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update and type in your productcode to see if there should be an update for your productcode. If there's not, you could take your phone to a Nokia Carepoint and ask if they could do it - no promises. Or else you have to wait untill your productcode gets it.

NOKIA 5800 V50.0.005. PROBLEM PLEASE HELP.

I updated my NOKIA 5800 from v40 to v50 through over-the-air.
I didn't got all the features like quickoffice, cherry 2.1, Ovi music, Lifecasting, Rihanna servicelauncher.....etc
My update package was only of 9.8 MB.Now I too can't reinstall the update through my NSU or OVI updater as the latest version of NSU is not showing any option to reinstall or repair...Please help in solving the problem . I want all the features of v50.0.005 in my NOKIA 5800.THANKS..

If the update is not available for you, then its not. Just wait for it
Reasons why a phone cannot update:
1. It is a country variant - country variants often get the updates later, or have updates skipped altogether. A Turkish country variant product code for example, skipped v40 and updated from v31 straight to v50.
2. It is network branded - phones acquired from network providers or these providers' stores SIM free are branded, and will not get updates until the networks approve and modify the updates to their liking.
3. Special editions - These special editions are chartered editions and may never get updates unless taken to a Nokia Care center.

Help Me! (Nokia 5800 xpress music)

I know that is my fault but i getted some viruses on my nokia 5800 xpress music! I do not know the type of the viruses but all i know is that is eating my memory! Even if i erased all things, i still have at sis aplications to much memori in phone so i have 0 kb memory in C at phone! Can you help me? I tryed to put again the software but i only get a new version on it or the same version and the viruses remain there! Help me please because I started to miss my phone...

Do this:
A hard reset (x6, 5800 and 5230 only) is done by the following (warning, this deletes all data on your phone):
1.) Turn off the phone and remove battery for 5min
2.) Reinsert battery
3.) Press and hold the green, red and camera buttons. DO NOT LET GO.
4.) While holding the three buttons, press the power key to boot the phone up.
5.) Keep on pressing until you see the country selection screen.
A correctly done hard reset would show you that everything on the phone (contacts, messages, calendar entries, etc) would be deleted. So it is advisable to back them up. Upon restoration, do not restore settings or files if possible.
Also, format your memory card. Just make a copy of your songs and pictures on your PC.

NOKIA 5800 WEB BROWSER HELP!

My web browser on my nokia 5800 does not work anymore. I go onto the web browser and the phone freezes and stops responding until the web browser can shut it self down. I am currently using the opera web browser available on the Ovi Store. I need help to get my web browser working again. Any advise?

You can discount a virus as a cause of your issues. If it wasn't for the loss of data involved, I would have suggested restoring your 5800XM to "factory settings" and re-formatting memory card, there is obviously corrupt data on your device/memory card.
