About NOKIA N80

thank you for giving me this oportunity to have answers to my questions.
about NOKIA N80
it is writen in the technical support for this product that:
- it has a memory card miniSD 128MB expandable memory.
is there any way to make this memory 512MB OR even 1GB to store more pictures , music , files ... etc ?
- in NOKIA 6270 there is a 3D effect for voice of the phone to listen to music in a loud voice . do this feature exist in NOKIA N80 ?

there is no date because no date has been announced. no manufacturer ever gives a release date for anything, just a release period. go ask at your nearest phones4u or something - they will give you any date you want lol!

    Hi there
My request is about Nokia N80. I recentely got this phone but I noticed that this phone is a bit slow phone. My point is that does it matter if I upgrade its doftware from the internet. In another words: is it going to be faster if I upgrade its software? Please let me know. Thanking u in advance. HME

Well By Upgrading Your existing bugs will be fixed, but new bugs may creep in. But Thats the way of life , Keep on updating it becomes better.
The question why do you need an N-series, If you have a clear answer and You are a tech crazy, go for an update.
But its just for show off with friends and girl friends then, you dont need an update .. lol...
You can spend that time for better-thing as any disconnection in internet lead to dead N80 and you have to rush to dealer

  • Can I use a Nokia N80 as a modem for my G4 PowerBook?

I'm about to spend a month in Italy and will take my G4 PowerBook with me. I need to buy a new mobile phone and thought that if I buy the Nokia N80 Internet Edition I can also use it as a modem for my PowerBook and connect using UMTS or EDGE. I already have a prepaid SIM card with TIM (Italian mobile service provider).
Has anyone successfully used the N80 with their G4 PowerBook?
    Cheers

  • Nokia N80 Calendar

I've recently got a Nokia N80 on Orange. I have a question about the Calendar entries that are displayed on the home screen (the main home screen when you switch on the phone, not the home screen when you select Calendar). The home screen displays only the next two meetings coming up in the Calendar, even though there is space on the screen for many more entries. And when you scroll onto these two entries, you cannot select one of them, instead they are both selected and when you click on them, you go to the second of the two entries rather than the first. Is there something wrong with my phone? Do you know how I can get more Calendar entries to be displayed on the home screen?

Ok the two calendar entries are just there as a shortcut to the calendar. But it is misleading because it doesnt exactly even show you the next two entries. For example if the next two entries in the calendar are memos and the third one is a meeting and the fourth one is a memo again, for some reason the active standby screen shows the first memo and the meeting (third entry) and skips the second memo. Its useless! If they wanted to provide a shortcut to the calendar they could have done that without showing two calendar entries.
    But thanks for the info.

  • Nokia N80 support for MSI Blueplayer

    Hi,
I have a Nokia N80, and a pair of i-tech bluetooth stereo headphones.
I have been waiting in hope for about 6 months now that MSI would support the N80 in Blueplayer. on the 17th of June a SDK 3.0 version came out which actually runs on the N80, but sadly it cant play to the headphones - it says "MP3 playback is not supported".
Does anyone know when the N80 will finally be supported in blueplayer?
    Thanks,
    Robert

I went to the Vodafone shop and their repair bloke says there is a large issue with the N Series phones and the Tom Tom software he says Nokia have released these phones too early and when he rang Nokia they even refused to comment on this problem to him.
He also said re the N70 he has had no end of problems, software related, and there is no signs of these problems being sorted. Back to the 6680 I suppose
The version of Mobile 5 for the 6680 *should* work fine on the N70. What do mean by 'doesn't work'?
The N70 is very stable these days and there aren't really any major issues. Make sure you've got the latest v5.x firmware though.
The N70 and N90 run S60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 3, by the way, very different from later Nseries smartphones, which run S60 3rd Edition, which is incompatible in terms of running older applications directly.

  • Nokia N80 data transfer?

Hello, I have Nokia n80 but my display goes white before 2 years, but now I want to save my data (pictures, videos...) and i dont know how to do that. Any ideas?

Hi, Liubo. You may try connecting your phone onto your computer. If it can still detect it, use the Nokia PC Suite or Nokia Suite to create a backup of your files.
Here are the links for you to download the tools:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/nokia-suite/
    http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/nokia-pc-suite/
Otherwise, sending the phone to a Nokia Care Point would be the last option here. You may try asking the technicians if they can do something about the files saved on the phone.
You may find the nearest care point in your area through this link:

  • Conflicting info about Nokia Messaging phone compa...

    On the page
    http://www.nokia.se/support-och-programvara/ladda-ner/nokia-email-service/kompatibla-telefoner
it says that Nokia N80 is compatible with Nokia Messaging, while on the main Nokia Messaging site
    http://email.nokia.com
    the N80 is not listed.
I've managed to set up an account from the phone and it briefly worked but it was set up with POP3 instead of IMAP and the server names aren't the ones currently given out by Telia. When I changed to IMAP from the web interface, the service stopped functioning altogether.
Is this a problem with the N80 phone, or are there limitations to the number of e-mails one can have on the server in order for it to work? I've only got 2200 e-mails in my inbox at the moment, and the built in client of the N80 - while very bad in many respects - could still connect successfully when I had 12000 e-mails in my inbox. The same goes for the commercial S60 e-mail client ProfiMail from Lonely Cat Games.
I've thought about getting an N900, but if this is the way Nokia Messaging "works", then I guess I should change my mind?
    Regards,
    A

The program installs background service which does the communication. It is not visible, but still it is up there running. As for the incoming - I used the early beta, but generally, Nokia messaging uses Push, so that the server would force connection. So, the advantage of Nokia Messaging is that the server would sync to multiple accounts and just then connect to your device in order to deliver new mails. Actually, the Messaging application is mainly aimed at heavy business customers. If you have one mailbox which you occasionally check, then the build-in client is just that good.

  • Nokia N80 Vs Nokia N91 (which one is the DADDY)

I personally have both phones. I can say that the Nokia N80 is the DADDY.It has a quality screen and a quality camera. I can work WI-FI easy I dont have probelms with it like some people on here. The N80 is nice a small the N91 is a BRICK.Ok it has a 4gb Music player. Buy i have a ipod nano and the screen is poor my N70 screen is better...

Hi, hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in.
I had a 7650 when they first came out and loved the phone. Everybody took the michael about it's size but it was way ahead of any phone I had seen on the market. That's why when I went to a very popular phone shop with the number 4 in it I had already made my mind up to get the N80. They showed the N91 and started raving about how big the memory is but I have an MP3 player so it wasn't really budging me. The fiddly keys and the chrome was not really suited to me. I have big hands and I just know that the chrome would reflect the sun straight into your eyes when you are trying to text on it.
I have to say that I am not overly impressed with the N80 though. It can be tempremental and does some very strange things like scroll wildly when you don't press any buttons. This I hope has been fixed with the firmware and service upgrades it has recently had. It was a bit embarrassing when you rave on to a mate how good the phone is and as soon as he looks at it it starts going bonkers.Hey ho.
The battery life is the real pain though,I charge mine every night so it's not a big problem for me but if I can't get to a charger for a couple of days it will be. I have a 6600 too and have charged it every night almost and I have never had a problem with a worn out battery. Still the original from 2-3 years ago and if I don't charge it then it still lasts days. So just to summarise, the N80 wins it on looks and features but sadly loses out for memory and, from what I have read, battery life. But cos I have one the N80 is daddy.
Sorry for writing so much but had a few things to say.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.

  • The Nokia N80 "Software Update"

When i was chosing my new nokia phone i was quite amazed by all the Nokia N80's feature which are all amazing by the way. But i had the phone for about 3months when the screen just suddenly went blank. The reason for the was a so called " software update " that has to be done. The phone was claerly on as all the sounds and options was working. I just want to know will this happen again? When, how long, and exactly why does this happen. It was sent in to nokia Johannesburg SA where i was told i have to wait 4-6 weeks for the return of my cellphone. Please this is really making me want to go back to samsung. The N80 was treated normally as is required.

On the contrary it could be the firmware as the older firmware for the n80 was quite unstable it seems that v4 firmware works well try to upgrade to that version if the problem continues then you know its the phone

  • Orange and my nokia n80

well i've have been with o2 for years but went with orange this time round as offered a great deal on my nokia n80.. first handset was fualty not orange's fualt... however, have just found out that my second n80 has been connecting to orange internet every time it come into a 3g signel.... i found this out last night when I went to my connection manager to find there it was all connected for over 2 and half hours. I dissconected the connection only to find that it had done it yet again later on in the everning.. both times data had been sent and recieved.. I contacted orange spoke to billing who told me there was a £9.00 data charge on my phone, which the bill was on the 22nd had the contracted 18th of this month... i then spoke to fualts dep, who said they would pass it on to the tec guys and to stop it have diconnected my gprs in the mean time, and said that this phone may be faulty aswell...
has anyone else had the same prob with the orange network? or could it be a fualt with this handset... personely i feel it's orange's way of making more money from ppl hence good contract deals.. but hay please tell me what you think, as i feel this needs to be looked at by both nokia and orange

I think if you check your phone from time to time or when you move to another area you'll find that it will reconnect... The only way to stop this is by orange, with them switching of the gprs it still tries to connect but fails(but that also means no sending mms which is not good).
they tried to make out to me that the phone is faulty which means sending out another phone this would mean that would be my 3rd phone in 11 days! I also found out from looking around that orange reconfiger all their phone with their software, and its clear that it's clashing with nokia, which has coursed the n80 to crash and go crazy.
I don't have a problem with orange they have always been friendly and helpful when speaking to them, well try to be helpful, but its like having a sports car and ripping the engiene out... this is what orange in my mind have done.
I'm not say that the phone wont have any bugs its new out and we're testing it for nokia so in a few months this phone will be much better....
If you want to get the phone direct from O2 you can't untill the 5/6/06 as they keep getting software problems and have put the date back twice already.... therefore i'm sorry to say i'm sending the phone back to orange ending my contract, and will think about getting it from on-line as these are unlocked phones and hoping they'll be better (the deals aren't though) with no one playing around with the settings and software...
we'll just have to waite and see i guess.... it would be cool to see what ppl think who are on other networks about this phone, and what software problems they've had if any...

  • Dead Nokia N80

Hi everyone,i got a problem. At this years easter i got my nokia n80,everything worked like a charm. But now the phone is dying,i cant turn it on becuase it wont acept my pin code, also i cant enter PUK code because the key 8 isnt working, tryed to turn on phone without a sim, nothing it wont acept my acces code.People is there any way i can recover my smart phone, help my i dont want to loose my phone...

Then we are 100% talking about a software problem, the way the proccesor renders the symbols from the keyboard, I think the firmware is the one to blame, check your firmare version flash it again and select a different firmare, but I strongly advise you see someone at the NOKIA Customer Service, the cause could be a "corrupt" flash. Good luckMessage Edited by mario1120 on 01-Jul-200706:19 PM

  • Need GPS for Nokia N80 Phone???

I have Nokia N80 phone and would like to use it as a GPS for traveling. Does anyone here know how or tell me what do I need? Is it just a software or I need the whole GPS device with its software? Hope to hear from someone here soon with good recommendation about GPS device working with Nokia N80 phone.
    Thanks.

Have you checked the Nokia map application is compatible with external an GPS? That's only around £50 for a 3 year subscription to turn-by-turn, which is actually not too bad a deal compared with TomTom and Route66.
Alternatively, the two best know products are TomTom and Route66. If you're planning to use them in the UK only, then I believe (I've never tried it) that TomTom is a better product.
If you're planning to use the GPS in Europe, then (IMO) you have to go with Route66 rather than TomTom as TomTom's European bundle only includes City-to-City directions. To my mind, that's worse than useless: it helps you on the easy bits (the motorways) then gives up the minute you actually need it, namely in towns.
I have the Route66 Europe bundle and it has full coverage for the countries it includes.
Route66 works very well on my N80 and was easy to install. There are quite a few posts on here from people who've had trouble getting TomTom up and running, but once it's working I believe it does a good job.
I ordered Route66 direct from www.66.com which seemed to have the best deal at the time.Message Edited by patc on 28-Jun-200704:08 PM

  • Back to the Nokia N91 from the Nokia N80 !! Aaarrg...

    Hi everyone
well after owning my Nokia N80 for 2 days, im sending it back to 02 !
was told by 5 people at 02 that the Nokia N91 has been discontinued!
which is why i opted for the N80
and most of you said that the N91 wasnt discontinued,
    well you were ALL right!
yesterday when i asked again, i was told NO its not!!
    WHY DO THESE NETWORKS LIE?
02 are the biggest bunch of Liars i have ever come across!
anyway, they are sending me a N91 next Tuesday morning, and swapping over the N80 for it..
yes the N80 has a better screen, but it has frozen on me 5 times, had to reboot etc
the music quality with the headphones is good, but not as Loud or sheer quality like the N91..so back to this i go
Has anyone upgraded their firmware on the N91 to the new firmware version, apparently its 2.00.052
please let us know how this new firmware is ASAP
will it stop the N91 frezzing and fix loads of bugs,
i will pop down on Wednesday and get it done at my Nokia Service Centre...
    thanks
