About OCA

Hi everyone,
I would like to know about oca certification.
actually i did Oracle database 11g:sql fundamentals I on (09-oct-2010) , i would like to do "Program with PL/SQL 1Z0-147" ,So on which version of Oracle Database do i get this certification  "Oracle PL/SQL Developer
Certified Associate ".
Please Reply me urgently . So that i could plan for my PL/SQL Exam.
Warm Regards
Muzeeb.

Hi Muzeeb,
Oracle’s 1Z0-147 test is designed to measure your knowledge of Oracle 9i PL/SQL. Passing this test will help you in achieving the OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) and Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate certifications.
This test is available on oracle database 9i,10g,11g..since u have completed Oracle database 11g:sql fundamentals I..
i would recommend you to do PL/SQL certification on 11g itself..
Oracle 's1Z0-146 test is designed to measure your knowledge of Oracle 11g Pl/SQL
if you have any more doubts,do reply
Regards,
Fabian

  • About OCA question

    Hi guys,
i'm going to make the OCA exam next month.
If a question like this appear, what would be the correct answer ?
Question: A table name can never be composed starting with number. Is it correct ?
what would be the correct answer, if we can have a table name with number, since this name is enclosed in double quotation marks ( " " ) ?
    thanks

    Hi,
For the exam, remember of the rules for nomination of tables and columns:
    (1) Must be initiated by a letter
    (2) Must have of 1 up to 30 characters
    (3) Must only contains A..Z, a..z, 0..9, and special characters like _, $, # only
    (4) Should not to be a private word of the Oracle
Take a look on these examples below:
    SQL> create table order (cod number);
    create table order (cod number)
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00903: invalid table name
    SQL> create table example (
      2  id# number primary key,
      3  order$ number not null,
      4  date_1 date default sysdate,
      5  column2 varchar2(5),
      6  "cust_id" number);
    Table created.
    SQL> desc example
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    ID#                                       NOT NULL NUMBER
    ORDER$                                    NOT NULL NUMBER
    DATE_1                                             DATE
    COLUMN2                                            VARCHAR2(5)
    cust_id                                            NUMBER
    SQL> create table "hi! are you ok?" (cod number, "12345" number);
    Table created.
SQL> desc "hi! are you ok?"
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    COD                                                NUMBER
12345                                              NUMBERNow, about "double quotes", I think that OCA exam just want to test whether you know about the rules for nomination of tables and columns.
    Good Luck!
    Cheers

  • A few Questions about OCA DBA

Hello everyone, I currently passed the second test required for my OCA-DBA certification, 1Z0-052-ENU, sadly my 3 attempts on singing onto http://certview.oracle.com were invalid " and not sure why because all my Info was properly given ", My 4 questions, *#1* : is my Certification Kit gonna be delayed because I cant log into certview ? *#2*: why does perasonvue.com show my oracle tests as "taken" and not passed ? all of my other certifications show passed in the Status tab. just thought it was a little weird. *#3*: To Download My logo I have to wait for the kit correct ? *#4*: was I suppose to do something else but going into certview after passing my test or are all of the steps I tried to take properly in place?
Anyways I appreciate any replies concerned to this issue I currently have, and I wish everyone a wonderful day

This is quite normal. Automatic authentication by certview only happens if everything is perfect and the weather is fine. Otherwise Certview send goes off for a manual check.
My 4 questions, *#1* : is my Certification Kit gonna be delayed because I cant log into certview ?Your authentication should be sorted in 3 working days or so. It won't affect the delivery time of your certification kit ( 6 to 8 weeks or sometimes a little more) (Unless things work in more mysterious ways than I can imagine!)
*#2*: why does perasonvue.com show my oracle tests as "taken" and not passed ? all of my other certifications show passed in the Status tab. just thought it was a little weird.I assume here you are talking about the PearsonVue website.
I think 'taken' is fine, it may eventually go to passed. I recall this being brought up some time ago. I am too busy to check this out.
Pearson vue from an oracle viewpoint doesnt deal in the 'certification ' entities. It only deals with 'exams'.
*#3*: To Download My logo I have to wait for the kit correct ?From once you are authenticated on Certview, and the Certifcation database has received your passed, and the Certification rules process has deemed you to be certified and entered your certification ino the certifcation database and certview then you can download the logo from certview.
*#4*: was I suppose to do something else but going into certview after passing my test or are all of the steps I tried to take properly in place?certview registration is optional but ever so strongly recommended. It enables you to confirm quicky the certifcation is awarded.

  • Question about  oca and Ocp 10 g dba

    Hi all
I want to prepare DBA 10g exam,  OCA and ocp  .
    Can I provide exam 1z0-007 instead of 1z0-051 ?
    Thx alot

I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to be gathering from that article except that it is obsolete.  It's from About.com, not Oracle.com and so is not definitive (and even Oracle's website occasionally has errors).  In five minutes I could get you ten articles from the Web about Oracle 8i certifications, and they've been retired for years.
How about this for a definitive link.  It's from the Oracle site and specifically notes that 1Z0-007 retired on July 31, 2013.

  • Inquiry about OCA & OCP

    Dear All,
I wish if i know how i can take OCA and OCP as Developer,
i wanna know if i must have Hand-on-course to have OCA and OCP as Developer
or not,and what about the original matireal
i wanna if any body know every thing about that subject, like he was taking this certification

user592551> i wanna know if i must have Hand-on-course to have OCA and OCP as Developer or not
Can you imagine being a Developer without any hands-on experience? I certainly wouldn't hire you if that was the case.hmm...question was regarding "Hands-on-course" not "hands-on experience".
    user592551,
Although some OCP tracks may require instructor led traing (ILT) class(es) the OCP Developer does not require any ILT although there are "suggested" ILT classes. Even if you take them, entire syllabus may not be covered in those classes.

  • Confused about OCA, OCP & OCM (Need some clarifications)

I want to do Oracle Certification.
I have following queries and would appreciate, if someone can answer me in detail.
    1. Do I need to pass OCA first and then only I can appear for OCP? Cann't I directly just pass OCP exams and become OCP?
    2. For OCP, I have read
    TRAINING
Complete one of the approved instructor-led online or in-class courses.
    +
    EXAM
    Oracle Database 11g: Administration II
    1Z0-053 FORM
    +
Submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form
What is approved instructor-led online or in-class courses? Do I need to pay something for this? what is the duration? In lay-man terms what exactly it is? Is there any alternative of this? It is too confusing on the oracle website.
Then again "Submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form " ...why it is too complex to get Oracle Certification?
I would say, Oracle should have something on their website, where it will ask, what course you want to do and generate one PDF file with the steps need to be performed/complete for the certification preparation/completion. Information is too scattered on oracle website.
I would appreciate, if one can tell me step by step, what needs to be done to be OCP.
    Thanks in Advance,

It is too confusing on the oracle website. This means you need to attend an approved course through one of these providers:
    - Oracle University Training Center, Oracle Authorized Education Center or Oracle Authorized Partner
    - Oracle Academy
    - Oracle Workforce Development Program

Then again "Submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form " ...why it is too complex to get Oracle Certification? The Hands On Course Requirement Form is a tool for certification candidates to submit their required training details for verification. This form is required in order to obtain most Oracle Certified Professional and Oracle Certified Master certifications as well as some Expert Program certifications. Submitting the Hands On Course Requirement Form will accomplish two tasks related to your certification:
    - It will trigger a request for Oracle to verify your attendance in an approved hands-on Course.
    - After your attendance has been verified by Oracle, the form will generate a permanent record in Oracle's and Prometric's certification databases, showing that you have met the requirement. The record will become part of your personal certification history, identifiable as "Oracle Certified Professional Hands On Course Requirement".

I would appreciate, if one can tell me step by step, what needs to be done to be OCP.To be an 11g OCP DBA certification, you need the following:
    1) Pass 1Z0-001 Introduction to Oracle: SQL® and PL/SQL™ OR 1Z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i SQL® OR 1Z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert OR 1Z0-051 Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
    2) Pass Oracle Database 11g: Administration I 1Z0-052
By passing the above two exams, you become 11g DBA OCA. To become 11g OCP DBA, you need to do the following after getting the 11g OCA DBA:
    3) Complete one of the approved instructor-led online or in-class courses
    4) Pass Oracle Database 11g: Administration II 1Z0-053
    5) Submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form

  • Jdeveloper certification

I want to know about Jdeveloper certifications.
I went through oracle web site http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?redir_type=16&group_id=1150&p_org_id=1080544&lang=US.Its mentioned about oca,ocp and ocm.But didnt find any exam number for oracle java programming.
Some where i read about 1z0-502,1z0-512,1z0-505.
But when i went through on line exam registration i did not find any of these in the list for oracle java technology.
can u please guide me about jdeveloper certification.
    thanks in advance.

There is no official JDeveloper certification right now.
We are thinking about having a JDev/ADF certification exam for release 11.
Meanwhile here are the courses you can take about JDeveloper/Java:

  • About getting OCA certificate

    Dear all,
After when through the forum , i have some query about getting the OCA.
Here is my situation, my job function is more related on Oracle 9i (some DBA jobs, select SQL statements) jobs. Although i'm very new in Oracle, but i'm very interested to master the oracle skill. So i would decided to take OCA.
    Question :
    1. Which one is more suitable for me : Oracle9i Database Administrator or Oracle Certification Program?
From the flow to getting OCA , it is only pass min 2 exam that will do ? ex : 1z0-047 & 1z0-031?
    2. It is recommend to attend the course or self study will do?
    3. If i want to attend the course ,what is the fees ?
Appreciate to hear the comment from your all :)
    Thanks.

From the flow to getting OCA , it is only pass min 2 exam that will do ? ex : 1z0-047 & 1z0-031? Only you can answer that. If you are doing DBA work then the Database Admin OCA is a more appropriate target. If you are doing PL/SQL already then the programmer may be a good target.
The good news is for either direction you have to take one of the following examinations: 1z0-007 , 1z0-047 or 1z0-051. (1z0-001 is retired).
Of these my personal belief is 1z0-047 may be harder to study for (you cannot take online and training material may be harder to come by).
    2. It is recommend to attend the course or self study will do?I expect Oracle will recommend you receive training from an authorized trainer. However most budgets have limitations. Instructor lead training is useful at some point, in fact often useful at any point, but you may need to choose the expensive instructor-led course(s) with care so they are most useful to you.
    3. If i want to attend the course ,what is the fees ?
If you start from the Oracle Certication Program - View all certifications Page you can drill down the links from your chosen certification and drill down to the exams, course schedule and fees.
If you select your country oracle will display the fees.
Appreciate to hear the comment from your all :)
Thanks. Also worth checking out the 2-day dba training and there is an associated exam (doesn't lead to a certification though).

Training study and practice are more important than certification in my opinion.

Why not use the oracle documentation for the contents of the exam or better, attend the course from Oracle Univ(which anyways you have to do to achieve your certification) ?

  • Suggestion for a new OCA / OCE exam

I have noticed that there are a lot of candidates who learn for an exam. There seems to be a lot of incentive to studying for the exam and "learning" the material.
However, there are also a lot of candidates who do not understand the 'certification', 'learning', 'followup' processes. It also seems that if there is no reward, such as a certificate, skills and processes are overlooked or misunderstood.
I suggest an OCA (or perhaps an OCE) level exam that tests the candidate for "How to find information on Education.oracle.com, Certification.oracle.com, Certview.oracle.com, Tahiti.oracle.com, OTN.oracle.com"; "What happens after you write the exam and how long do I have to wait"; "Why I should have only one testing ID"; "What is a FAQ"; "Ability to use internet search engines and how to formulate questions"; "Why do forum administrators bother with Forum Stickies", and the like.
While somewhat tongue-in-cheek (or at least cheeky), I encourage thinking about this. We are churning out people who supposedly are professionals, and yet some have no idea what that 'professional' icon means or where to find out more information about it.

Well not an OCA or an OCE certificate but perhaps an OCS, and that could be useful for partners as well. The problem is if offered online it would be abused.
I get concerned when a candidate newly registered for OTN has just passed the high stakes exam for an OCA wonders where their certificate is. It is a concern they don't seem to have researched the certification process much. The lack of familiarity with the certification process seems slightly concerning ... and there is probably a lack of familiarity with the Oracle websites as well, which is not what one would expect from a certified person.
The new OTN registration isn't a definite indicator of a problem here, but it is a strong indicator there may be something unsatisfactory.
Indeed the absolute worse case is an SQL exam online by proxy taker followed by braindump use or a proxy take of the high stakes exams.
In practice I would suspect that an unbalanced delivery of the WDP training or third party training or university training may be a culprit. (and I may be wrong here). (Note there seems to be an increasing tendency for some universities to focus on education by certification study ... ).
I really think it would be useful if a candidate was required to register with Oracle (by means of an SSO/OTN account) before being able to book a certification examination rather than being simply able to goto Pearson VUE/Prometric (This is the case with a lot of other Testing programmes, and was the case with Sun until recently). IMHO This would encourage a good 'first contact' with Oracle and would encourage the following benefits:
    - A relationship with Oracle would be established sooner during the exam preparation process.
    - There would be an opportunity to point the candidate at useful processes, authorized learning methods and resources via email.
    - An earlier point in the learning process to discourage bad learning technique
    - The sales people would love the opportunity to sell oracle training.
I think there is an argument for requiring OTN registration at least a month before a certification exam can be booked ... exceptions being if an Oracle University Course has been attended. However the logistics would probably fail on this and it could hurt people who have just left an employment.
Edited by: bigdelboy on 07-Apr-2010 00:57 PS: - Hans - You also didnt great job with one of the sticky announcements. I really think however now that Prometric / Pearson Transition has happened and merge with Sun is stable all the sticky posts should be reviewed and rolled into one entitled something eyecatching like only silly people should not read this FAQ first
