About oem 9ir2

Hi,
I installed oracle 9ir2 database and create oem repository on windows 2000 server.
I can discover everything(db, http, listener, ...etc) on nodeA that I installed database and oem repository.
But after discover nodeB that I installed oralce 9ir2 database(AIX 5.3), it just show HTTP Server in OEM console.
I have checked files in ORACLE_HOME/network/agent/log, no error found.
Any idea?? or where should I check to?
PS. Sorry about my poor English.
Thanks and regards.

Hi Barry,
First, thank you for your reply.
Yes, you know what I mean.
I think listener is ok, because I can connect to db correctly.
I have two network cards on Node B and have different IP address.
But I use only one IP to connect to DB.
My listener, agent and /etc/hosts information below:

  • Need information about OEM 12c Cloud Control Monitoring

    Hi All,
I need a piece of information about OEM 12c Cloud Control. Can we monitor JCapps from OEM 12c Cloud Control. If yes, then do I need some plugins to get installaed for this or any other requirement?
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi,
Glen is referring to Service management, a built in feature of Enterprise Manager. You'll find it under main targets drop down -- Services.
It is a way of pulling several systems together, add synthetic service test to the service and track metrics. System metrics can be promoted and all synthetic test metrics can be used to define Service level agreements, get alerts and create incidents against your defined service.

  • Doubt about OEM

    Hi
    Info : 10.2.0.1 on Linux ES 4.0
I have installed oracle 10g R2 on linux server and created one test
    database using DBCA.
At the end of Screen it asked to use http://hostname:1158/em to use
    for Enterprise Manager.
I checked this and it is working. I have few doubts related to this
    which I could not find
In my previous company, we were having oracle Enterprise Manager 10g
    on a separate server
from where we were monitoring everything or all the database were
    registered to that OEM.
But I think this is by default configured EM to manage the local
    database , Am i right here ?
And if yes, I have not installed Apache Server as this comes in a
    diff. CD, then how can
I use this EM [ Database Control ] by just giving a URL ..
Can you please explain what is diff. Between the OEM with full
    functionality and this EM ..
    Regards,

    Hi,
1,Ya u have installed database control which is part of OEM.It is installed with Oracle Cd itself. It don't require any other software.
    2. Grid control require other CD which come with Oracle Bundled Package and which need seperate license.
    3. There are some advance feature in Data grid which can be used such as
--> configuring data guard using OEM which we can't do with Database control.
There are many more feature which increases its usablility and that's why oracle is charging for it.
For testing of database control : if u want to try u can clone a database on seperate box and see that it will not create any database control for that database. U need to manual configure database control for that database.
Grid Control : For grid control to access database from other host we need to install agent on the host where database reside. It is agent who represent and communicate with grid control regarding that database.

  • OEM-Performance monitoring

Hi we are running oracle 8.1.6 and I am seeking some your advice and expertise on OEM.
We like to use OEM for a lot of our Database performance monitoring and tuning and I like to know how reliable this Management tool is. I have heard some negative comments about OEM like: "it is very buggy", "can't rely on it", " it is not quite there yet".
We do have some issues with its installation and configuration on Solaris, and I am beginning to feel that other rumors might be true too.
Is there any one out there who has a good, positive experience with OEM that can convince me we can choose it as a reliable tool to monitor the performance of our database???
    Please share.

The document link Eric sent pretty much covered the installation and configuration part.
    also crosscheck EM admin guide,
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/em.920/a96670/toc.htm
    It's part of EM installation.

  • OEM repository 9i

    Hi,
Could anybody explain me or give me some good link to understand the concept of OEM repository in 9i. I found something on Internet, but I have some question without answer. I appreciate if somebody could answer or give me some links which respond to these questions:
    1) What the depenency between OEM repository and one agent of a database ?
    2) If a OEM contains more agents (for 4-5 databases) is there any data lost if the OEM is recreated ? Must I recreate it in a particulary manner not to lose data in it and to be functional after recration ?
    3) Could anybody send me some GOOD information about the concept of OEM repository ?
any other information about OEM will be appeciated.
    Thanks to all, Paul T.

I have some intelligent agent which are down and I want to restart them. When I do a Refresh on that node in OEM Console I get the message "Refresh Failed: VNI-4054 The Oracle Management Server is out of sync with the agent (<agent name>)". Initially I thought to recreate the OEM Repository. Now I am not sure that is a good idee. Thank, Paul.
... For the moment I saw that this error is still undetermined ... it must be treated as OERR: VNI-4040 Agent state is corrupted ... I continue with my research ...

  • Will Windows XP OEM edition install on Mac Book Pro?

I have done a forum search, but the answer is not clear to me. Seems to be conflicting info in other threads.
I need to run Windows on a new Mac Book Pro. My account rep at CDW said it was OK to sell me the OEM edition of Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2 as long as I was buying some other non-Microsoft hardware (which I was). So I did.
Now the package has arrived and I read the Microsoft label/license, I'm afraid to break the seal and open it in case it won't install properly.
Can anyone confirm the OEM edition will install properly, just like the retail? Price is not the issue. Should I return it and buy the full retail version?

    Hi Craig!
Simply put, OEM is just a form of a license but you should pay attention to what that license means.
Anything that is OEM is licensed to be used only with the "hardware" you purchased. That's why your CDW rep sold you something else. It may have been a token piece of hardware such as an Ethernet cable or electrical cord. IMHO, what he did was unethical but it's not illegal because they are technically following the rules of their reseller license. Many resellers do this with their customers unfortunately.
When you buy a new computer with Windows then that Windows license is OEM. That means its legal only for that computer. You are not allowed to transfer that copy of Windows to another computer or to a virtual machine. The hardware manufacturer (Dell, HP, etc.) is responsible for supporting you, not Microsoft. I would guess that technically CDW is now responsible for supporting your Windows installation. Do you think that will happen?
This document about OEM from Microsoft's website is fairly simply to understand <http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/e/3/4e3eace0-4c6d-4123-9d0c-c80436181 742/OSLicQA.doc>.
My advice is that you purchase a full shrink-wrapped Windows package and use that instead. You'll be paying more for it but you'll have the "legal" freedom to transfer it to any other machine once you're done using it on your current machine. I personally have no experience to tell you how OEM software will react if you try to move it to another system and activate it there.
    Hope this helps!

  • OEM - No ad-hoc SQL tuning?

Am I correct that there is no way to say to Oracle Enterprise Manager's SQL Tuning Advisor, "here is some SQL - please analyze and tune it". The only way to get it to tune something is to find it running and then say "please run the SQL tuning advisor on it".
In other words, no way to tune a query without running it first...?
I've been looking for a way to do this in OEM and can't find it.
    Thanks!

    No.

  • OEM 12c + BMC Performance Manager communication.

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently searching for guides or information about OEM 12c communication with BMC Performance Manager.
Today, my BMC PM is monitoring all my oracle databases, what I want to do is use OEM to handle the monitoring, and send critical errors to my BMC PM. This way, it will be easier to hook up new databases to my BMC in the future.
What I'm looking for is people with knowledge on how I do this.. any information, guides or guidelines would really help alot!
    Thanks in advance,
    Jon-Erik

EM is showing Host is up makes sense. If I remember correct the OMS pings the host if the agent is down. This will succeed so the host will show up.
Why the agent is showing up does not make sense to me. The agent sends a signal every (default) 120 seconds. If no signal is received by the OMS the OMS sends a reverse ping to the agent. If this does not succeed the agent and its monitored targets should get the state “Agent Unreachable”.

  • OEM GC 10g Installation using Solaris 10g (Not SPARC but Intell Based Serve

    Hi !
Server: Dell Poweredge 2900 (Intell Chip).
    OS: Solaris 10 x86-64
I could not find from OTN Oracle Download site the Full/Complete Software (OMS, OMR, OMA) as is available for SPARK, Windows, Linux, HP-UNIX Operating Systems. Where can I get it? I do not want An Agent on my Server and the rest of the software on some other computer. i want it all (Full/Complete) to be installed on my DELL Server. Is there a work around if the sofofware not available. What about OEM GC software for SPARK? Will it work on Solaris 10 X86-64 also?
    Please reply.
    Thanks.
    user8981475

    Hm
all that depends on your original installation.
Usually, on Unixes, Oracle puts some "configuration" files under /var/opt/oracle
Assuming on your original server the Oracle install (=ORACLE_HOME) is under
    /oracle/ora10g
then you need to copy everything !! into the same directory of your secondary server (and of course this can be a zone)
In a standard oracle environment the database instance related files are under
    $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
here you find the spfile, the pfile, the passwd file which you need to start your instance
At least you should have the same user and group id for the owner and group on the secondary server (best would be the same
patches installed), and you should do a relink of the Oracle software ($ORACLE_HOME/bin/relink all)
as the Oracle user owning the software.
Furthermore the /etc/system files on both server shall contain the same entries for the database, mainly settings about shared memory and
    semaphores.

  • OEM - Refresh Template script generation wizard don't work

    (Oracle 9.2.0.8, single-master-many-mviews)
    Hi,
I have never trusted in OEM but this time I hoped it will help me. Alas!
I created the deployment template using an OEM wizard. Now I need to generate the template script. The template script generation wizard supposed to do this but when I reach "Step 4 of 5 - Set refresh schedule" I set the interval and then... pressing "Next" button just does nothing. I can't pass to Step 5 despite all the information has been provided correctly. Anyone has any ideas about this or should I do it manually as usual and forget about OEM?

    Welcome to our community, Linda
In RoboHelp, if you open the Glossary pod (View > Pods > Glossary > Select Glossary) do you see terms and definitions listed there?
If not, that would explain it as the Glossary has no entries.
Assuming it does have entries, you may simply need to enable the tab by clicking View > Pods > Project Set-up. Expanding the Windows section in the pod and double-clicking your CHM window.
A CHM window looks like this:
If you don't see a CHM window, you will need to create one. If you do see a CHM window, double-click it. Then ensure the Glossary is enabled.

  • Startup OEM Cloud Control 12c without mail

    Hi gurus,
Do you know if is possible to start oms without the mail sending?
    Thanks.

    Hi Facundo,
Please correct me if I have understood your problem incorrectly. I believe what you are referring to is the set of notifications about OEM components sent by the OMS after stopping and restarting the OMS, is that correct?
If that's what you mean, I also found those annoying. I think you are probably receiving these because you have subscribed to receive emails for one of the default incident rulesets: "Incident management Ruleset for all targets". Because OEM monitors its own components, it recognizes that these pieces were down, and sends a notification, then sees they are back up and sends an all clear notification. I think the actual incident rule in this set causing these emails is the "Incident creation Rule for target error" rule.
To avoid receiving these notifications, I do not subscribe to the default incident management rulesets for email. Instead I have created my own incident rulesets that cover only those targets and target types for which I do want to receive notifications: database systems, agents, hosts, listeners, and metric alerts. All of the internal OEM components have their own target types (like "Application Deployment", "Oracle WebLogic Domain", "Oracle Authorization Policy Manager", and so on) and if you have a rule set up to send notifications for ALL target types (like the default rulesets do), you will receive those notifications.
Do I understand your problem correctly?

  • OEM on XE

Is there something like OEM on XE?
I do not find emctl on XE.
    Thanks for reply

    Hi,
I think the documentation says about http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex when you want access from the machine that the Oracle XE is currenlty installed. From remote machine, you can use http://machine-name:8080/apex if a DNS server exist on the network, or http://network-IP:8080/apex if a DNS server is not present. Otherwise if you have not a DNS server on your network, you can put the machine name on the hosts file ...
For more information about Oracle XE, you can take a look on this link below:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/xe/index.html
About OEM, if you want I think you can install the Oracle Client and connect to Oracle XE using the OEM java console.
    Cheers
