About Oracle Lite

I am new for Oracle Lite so, may be some question incorrect.
1. Where I can downlaod O8iLite for testing?
2. Which version of Oracle Lite is J2EE compliance?
3. Which version of Oracle Lite support Chinese?
Regards, and thanks for any reply

There is some documentation cut, may be this help you.
2.7 Language Issues (CCJK stands for China, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei), Japan, Korea)
Mobile Client for EPOC and Mobile Development Kit for EPOC is not supported for CCJK countries
Mobile Client for Windows CE and Mobile Development Kit for Windows CE with x86 is not supported for CCJK countries
Branch Office is not supported for CCJK countries
2.8 CCJK Supplemental Information
This release is a MLE (Multi Language Edition) release. This release supports CCJK (Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean) languages in addition to English and European language. This section provides CCJK specific information for the release.
2.8.1 Character Sets
2.8.1.1 Supported Character Sets For Database Kernels
Oracle Lite Database is NOT a NLS component. In order to reduce the kernel size, it is built for each language which supports native character sets for Windows. Which means, each language has each kernel. Here are the character sets supported by this release:
Chinese : MS936 CodePage (Simplified Chinese GBK, ZHS)
Taiwanese: MS950 CodePage (Traditional Chinese Big5, ZHT)
Japanese : MS932 CodePage (Japanese Shift-JIS, JA)
Korean : MS949 CodePage (Korean, Ko)
The database kernel for each language in this list only supports its corresponding character set. Other multibyte character sets are not supported.
2.8.1.2 Supported Character Sets for Mobile Server
Mobile Server components (including Mobile SDK, mSync) is NLS components. These components are built based on Java technology and support all character sets which Java technology supports. But there are some restrictions. See "Restrictions of CCJK" subsection.
2.8.2 NLS Parameters in POLITE.INI
In order to handle the proper language, some NLS related parameter need to be set as written in POLITE.INI. NLS related parameters are set in POLITE.INI. These parameters are set by default during installation.
2.8.2.1 NLS_LOCALE
Oracle Lite database refers NLS_LOCALE parameter. This parameter affects the behavior for calendar and currency unit handling and must be set in each language specific value. The actual value for NLS_LOCALE parameter are:
For ZHS (China) : CHINESE-SIMPLIFIED
For ZHT (Taiwan): CHINESE-TRADITIONAL
For Ja (Japan) : JAPANESE
For KO (Korea) : KOREAN

I have one question about Oracle Lite for Windows CE on Handheld/PC.
Which version of Oracle Lite for Windows CE supports Java stored procedures and

  • Error when installing Oracle Lite for Mobile Field Service Laptop

    Hi,
I am facing a strange problem when installing Mobile Field Service Laptop agent "Oracle Lite" on my laptop.
When I run the setup, it asks me username and password, after entering the information, when I proceed, I see setup window which displays below messages
    "Authenticating with server... "
Please wait. This may take several minutes ...
Then it hangs for several minutes, approx 5 to 10 mins, and then gives message
"Could not connect to server: HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
I am not able to proceed with setup.
But none of my other colleagues are facing this issue, even though the network, proxy settings and java version are same.
    Any idea about this error?

  • UTF8 support in Oracle Lite

I looks to me like Oracle Lite doesn't support the UTF8 character set for storing data. Is this correct?
I have an Oracle 8.1.7 database using UTF8 to store English, Thai, Chinese and Philippino data, and I want to synchronise that with Oracle Lite on Windows 2000 clients. The sync seems to work ok, but any non-english characters are lost in a characterset conversion (display as "?").
    Regards
    Steve

I'm a bit confused by your reply. Can Oracle Lite store data in a unicode characterset such as UTF8? It looks to me like the "UTF-8 support" is limited to the drivers, so that it can load and extract utf-8 data, but not store it. From section 2.2.1 of the release notes:
"Oracle Lite Database is NOT a NLS component. In order to reduce the kernel size, it is built for each language which supports native character sets for Windows. Which means, each language has each kernel. Here are the character sets supported by this release:
    - Chinese: MS936 CodePage (Simplified Chinese GBK, ZHS)
    - Taiwanese: MS950 CodePage (Traditional Chinese BIG5, ZHT)
    - Japanese: MS932 CodePage (Japanese Shift-JIS, JA)
    - Korean: MS949 CodePage (Korean, Ko)
The database kernel for each language in this list only supports its corresponding character set. Other multibyte character sets are not supported."
Also the documentation on the DBCharEncoding parameter you mention suggests that it only affects the UTF translation for java programs. Section A.2.3:
"... Specifies the UTF translation performed by Oracle Lite. If set to NATIVE, no UTF translation is performed. If set to UTF8, UTF translation is performed. If this parameter is not specified, the default is UTF8. This applies to Java programs only."
I've tried playing with these parameters, as well as changing the NLS_LANG parameter on the client, and for the mobile server, for the Oracle Lite home, all to no avail. I'm still losing the non-english data during synchronisation and it does look like it's being lost in a character set conversion rather than just being garbled, as each Thai characters is being replaced by the correct number of "?"s. As an example the Thai string "บริษัท บราเดอร์ คอมเมอร์เชี่ยล (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด" on the 8.1.7 database sever appears as "?????? ???????? ?????????????? (?????????) ?????" on the oracle lite database.
Am I missing something here? If I can get this data syncronising correctly then Oracle Lite looks like it will support all our requirments so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. (Should I post this to the globilization forum or does that focus only on Oracle's enterprise editions?)
BTW, thanks for the info on the sorting. Obviously the characterset issue is more a fundamental problem at this stage, but if we can fix this then it's good to know about the sorting abilities.

  • Running a BC4J JSP application for Oracle Lite on OC4J

    Hi,
My BC4J JSP application is working with Oracle and Oracle Lite on Apache (Oracle 8i Personal Edition) and on Tomcat 3.2. The same BC4J's could be used from the BC4J Tester as well.
But if I run the application on OC4J (standalone and embedded in JDeveloper 9i RC1 and RC2) using Oracle Lite, a Fatal Internal Error (or with JDK1.2 a NullPointerException) occurs.
I think I found the reason:
    1. the Java Trigger in Oracle Lite and
    2. the Timestamp used in Oracle Lite instead of Date.
My problem is, that I can't find any information about configuration of OC4J so that it could work with Oracle Lite as well as Apache and Tomcat.
    Claudia

The tell tale sign that the application is communicating with the running cache server is the membership information that is logged. In your previous running of the example you would have "members=1" embedded in the logging. From the sounds of what you are doing, you'd expect this to be different as the application would be joining a running instance. Check out section 1.3 of this doc on the system you are using.

  • Sql-92 syntax in Oracle Lite 8i

The Oracle Lite documentation instructs the developer to enact this change to polite.ini to use sql-92 syntax:
    Running SQL-92 on Oracle Lite
As mentioned in the preceding section,
Oracle Lite uses Oracle SQL by default.
However, if you want to support SQL-92 by
default instead of Oracle SQL, you can
change the SQL compatibility parameter in
the POLITE.INI file to SQL-92. To change
the parameter, add the following in the
    POLITE.INI file:
    SQLCOMPATIBILITY=SQL92
See the Oracle Lite User's Guide for more
    information about the POLITE.INI file.
However this does not appear to have any effect. For instance, this query in the polite sample database:
    select product.descrip,price.stdprice
from product FULL OUTER JOIN price
    ON product.prodid = price.prodid;
    generates a syntax error:
    ERROR at line 1:
    OCA-30021: error preparing/executing SQL
    statement
    [POL-5228] syntax error
Is there more steps needed to make Oracle 8i Lite SQL-92 Compatible???

    Hello,
    SELECT 'x'
    FROM EMP,DEPT
    WHERE

  • Efragdb.exe in Oracle Lite 10g R3

We have the following situation when working on Oracle LIte 10g R3. We used defrag.exe with a database created in Oracle Lite R2. During the "Dumping Triggers" phase, it shows the error message "Wrong trigger type 34 for trigger TRIG_INSUPDPVDETPAGCAJ.". The refered trigger is based on a java procedure, and it was created in the source database without errors.
If we drop the trigger and defrag.exe is run again, the "Loading Extents" phase show the error message "Invalid opcode: 65!!!".
I will appreciate any suggestion about this.

  • Importing an oracle 8i database from Enterprise Version intot Oracle Lite

How do i get to import an Oracle 8i Enterprise Server database into an Oracle 8i lite server.
    null

I have never done this..but it ought to be simple....
If you are only cocvern about the logical schema and the data in it..then I would simply export the database using export utility.
let say if user snawaz who owns the schema on you enterprise server ..then just make sure you have a user snawaz on the lite oracle..
also make sure user snawaz on both have enough priviledges to the database..
    then simply do an export:
    example:
    from enterprise database:
    exp snawaz/snawaz@sidname owner=snawaz
this will export all the schema owned by snawaz, then take the export file to oracle lite...
    then do import
    imp snawaz/snawaz@sidname
when it prompts for entire dmp file just say no and only import user and specify the user snawaz...
    it should work fine..
If you need more comprehensive doc.let me kow

  • Oracle lite database username and password

    Hi,
I have a database file doe.odb and dsn is doe. When I tried connecting database using default system/manager userid/password I got following error:
    pol-5150 access violation.
I used following command to connect to the database:
    msql system/manager@jdbc:polite:doe
Actually I do not know the original userid and password used to create database. There are thounsands of records in the database file. The developer before me did not left any clue about userid and password.
Is there any way to connect this database?
Is there any way to recover userid and password?
    Best Regards,
    Wajih

The username is the username of the device user. So, lets say JOHN is your user and SAMPLEDB is your application, JOHN's password is TEST123. The connection would be
    msql system/test123@jdbc:polite:john_sampledb
What materials have you gone through for Oracle Lite?

running on a POCKET with the J9 virtual machine? I want to use MIDP and not the Personal Profile to be able to use the Oracle webservice proxy with the J2ME client SDK.
I think that I only have to include the appropriate libraries (classes12.jar or olite40.jar) in my project..Am I right?

    Hi,
Please do not get me wrong , I am sending this reply to get some help from you about your findings .
I am s/w developer who is involved in application development for PDA devices
    As an option ,
I have installed oracle9i database in a machine which has win2k server OS and then
Installed oracle9iLite mobile server sharing the same <ORACLE_HOME> on the machine.
I am trying to configure and start the mobile server in the “STANDALONE MODE”
When I typed webtogo on the cmd line , it did not respond , instead it said “Unrecognized option”
Then when I tried to execute the weg-to-go executable file in the <ORACLE_HOME>\mobile\server\bin directory ,
    It did not respond .
Can you please help me out to sort out this problem,
And also give me some more useful hints to configure the mobile server as a module in oracle9iAS.
    Expecting an early response

  • Stream Corrupted Exception using ORACLE LITE 8i

Our application on the client needs to insert word documents in the form of BLOBS in the ORACLE I LITE database.
I am using the below JDBC driver to store and retrieve the BLOB from the database and i have the ODBC driver for the Oracle LITE installed on the machine.
    String jdbcURL = "jdbc:Polite:egcaspacclient";
    String uid = "system";
    String passwd = "***";
    String driver = "oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver";
But i try to read the BLOB from the database i am getting a streamCorrupted exception while reading the StreamHeader. I am using ObjectInputStream and ObjectOutputStream to store and retrieve the BLOB information.
I infact tried the same code with the ORACLE8i database and it is working.
I read some documentation that Oracle LITE supports storing the BLOBS.
I am wondering if anything wrong with the driver i am using.
Also the datatype in the BLOB column of the database is showing as undefined. But i see some information is stored to that column when i insert the BLOB.
I would appreciate if anybody provide with some clues.
    Thanks
    Surendra

  • Talend oracle lite problem

we want to use talend in order to migrate data from an sql server to a oracle 11g. the database in oracle 11g is the repository for our oracle lite server.
When we migrate the data we select action on table none and action on data insert or update for the oracle 11g components. We encounter a problem in which oracle lite thinks that the entire table has been changed after talend has finished its update and foreces a full refresh of the table to the users. As you understand this is a great problem because even when only one record has changed (or even none) the entire table is redownloaded on the users.
From what i know oracle lite uses a complicated system in order to understand which records have been changed and therefore require to be updated on the clients. It appears as if talend changes something in the table after it has finished its data migration (perhaps some kind of a timestamp?) and therefore makes oracle lite believe that the entire table with all its rows were changed. i do not know which of the two components cause the error, talend changing something or olite thinking wrong about tables updated
1)why does this happen and how exactly does oracle lite understand which data have been updated?
im using this forum in order to ask if someone has encountered this problem again and how did he solve it
    thank you for your time

not used talend, but if i understand correctly, you are using this to transfer data from a sql server database to oracle. I assume the data being put into the oracle database is into tables in the main schema, rather than the mobileadmin schema itself.
For the tables that are being written to in the oracle database, how are they defined in the oracle lite publication (fast refresh, complete etc.) and what happens in the MGP process after the data import has run.
The default process is that for fast refresh objects the following happens.
    1) when data is inserted/updated/deleted from the base table, triggers (TABLENAMi/u/d) fire in the main schema, and this causes data to be inserted into mobileadmin.C$all_sid_logged_tables to show the table as changed, and updates made to the CVR$ table in the main schema
    2) based on the 'dirty' tables in c$all_sid_logged_tables then the MGP process logs phase will copy data from CVR$ tables to CLG$ tables, and then run the compose to populate the out queue CMP$ tables
it may be that part of the settings are stopping the updates to the CVR$ tables and this is causing a versioning mismatch (normal trigger for complete refresh), so check to see what updates are done to this table as well as the manin data table

  • Oracle Lite: How to create data subsetting parameters?

    I need to know:
how to create data subsetting parameters?
I need these parameters for use of a restricting predicate in an item publication.
I were looking the forum and i found topics about "how to set?" but i don't found how to create a data subsetting parameter.
I am replacing SQL server 2000 and SQL server CE by oracle 9i and oracle lite 5.0.2.
    Thanks in advance.
    PCID

Had problems with the parameters shown on pages webtogo in the datasubsettings section because none of them were "defined", but in sections 1.4.1.2 I found these lines:
Template: select * from master.task where CustCity = :city
Then click OK. This brings you back to the previous screen. The template query contains a variable (subscription parameter) named "city". Later, when you provision the application to a user, you will be prompted to enter the value for it.
I found out how to put a parameter to restrict registries that download to the pocket pc from each user.
    Thank you very much!!!
