About package name and transport request number

Hello Gurus,
I know when doing some changes in the sap bw system, and performing activation subsequently , you are prompted to save the changes into some package and transport request. my question is:
in the real project, where does those package name and transport request number come from? make up by myself or provided by project management, or someone else? if doing by youself, how to make up package name and transport request number ?

package is like a folder in windows.. u create package for a project and than collect all the relevant transports in it.
to create package u use SE80.. Transport req number are configured by basis team.. its usually source system ID and running serial number...
package name can be decided by tech architect or by ur team manager..

Hi,
Go to transaction SE21 and give the package name as ZAPO or any thing starts with Z.
click on create button.
give a short description
in the Package properties block- allowed object types list box - select No restrictions.
in the transport attributes block- specify the transport layer
give software component as HOME
select the check box for changes recorded.
save the package.
or
Go to SE80
select package from the list box
give your package name and hit enter button
the popup asks you for input.
give the appropriate values and press create button.
Note: You should be registered as a developer in the system where you are creating the package.

i have a transport request number, by using that how can i find the program name ie : to which object that transport request number corresponds to.
Example :

i know this request number now how can i find out to which object it coresponds to .
Can any one tell how should i approach for it.

Hi,
If this transport request is created by you or u know the respective user then go to the tcode SE09 and enter the user name and click on display you will get the list.then go on expanding u will get the program name.

SE09 is the transaction code for workbench organiser.Workbench organiser is the set of utilities for development change management.All Development changes are tracked via Workbench organiser.
SE10 is for Customosing organiser.Customising organiser is the set of tools for customising change management.All customizing changes are tracked via customising organiser.

How to find proc/func name from package name and line number?

We are using the pl/sql call stack dump (dbms_utility.format_call_stack) for some debugging purposes. But in the case of a package body execution, the dump does not return the name of the procedure/function that is being executed, but only the name of the package and the line number being executed. So, we have a requirement wherein we need to extract the type and name of a package subunit from the package name and line number.
e.g.
From the information package 'A', line number 739
we should be able to deduce that line 739 is a part of *'function A.f'*
Does the oracle database provide any native mechanism (PL/SQL packages or otherwise) to support such functionality? If it does not, how can we achieve the desired result?

The approach we are currently planning to take up is this :
1. Write PL/SQL code to parse the entire source (user_source) and build a database table with a structure like this :
PACKAGE_NAME | UNIT_TYPE | UNIT_NAME | START_LINE | END_LINE
=============================================
A | PROCEDURE | P1 | 20 | 345
A | FUNCTION | F1 | 347 | 629
etc..
2. Start PL/SQL package execution.
3. Keep dumping call stack snapshots whenever a custom debug procedure is called.
4. Dump the package name and line number to a log file.
5. Using the package name and line number, query the table built in step 1 and build the final report which shows the control flow in a readable form.
What we want is to get rid of step 5 and by some means get the logic to extract the unit type and name in step 4 itself.

Hi Atanu,
   You can try following two methods -
   1. Display SAPSCRIPT and use option goto -> Object directory entry and change the "Package".
   2. If that is not allowed, try using Txn. SE03 and try changing Object directory entry from there.
If you assign a package which is transportable, system will prompt you for a transportable request.

Find Query Name in Transport Request or In TR what are Queries.

Dear All,
I would like to find a Query Name in Transport Request(DEVK.....) or Vice-Versa in Transport Request (DEVK........), what are the queries are included. I created SAP Query using SQ01 and assigned the InfoSet. The query is succesfully executing and getting the required result but I dont know the Transport Request Number which was created. In stead of creating New request, I would like to know the existing Transport Request what are the Queries are assigned.

If you have included the Query in Transport using SAP Query Transport tool, it creates Transport request and makes an entry in the table AQTDB. Check the table entries in the table AQTDB.

Go to SE03.
Under OBJECTS IN REQUESTS, double click Search For Objects in Requests / Tasks.
In Object Selection:
Write FORM in the first blank column below DTEL.
check the checkbox in front of FORM and write your form name in the blank space given.
Now in REquest / Tast Selection part,
Select for Modifiable or Released.
And Execute it.
You will get corresponding request number for the form.

i will input the name of my dictionary object (table or report name) and oject type and as a result the output should be the active version request number in production (remote client) and also request number of active version in development.

In lws_dest give your destination client
lws_obj_name -object name
obj_type = 'PROG' for program and so on
and you will get the version and transport request

Transport request number in LO extraction

What we have to mention in transport request number field while doing LO extraction ? where to find it ??

Trnasport request number is system generated. you can foloow the below steps to activate and transport the LO data source.
1) activate the data source in RSA5
2) goto LBWE, you will find the DS in yellow color.
3) click on activate, now system will promt for transport number. note down this transport number and click on continue
4) you can check this transport in SE01/SE09 and release the same request.
5) based on your system transportation settings, you can see this transport in next system in STMS

I want to find out last Transport Request number used of a transporting changes Abap query from development to quality system.
Also is it possible to do some comparison on version existing in development and quality for abap query.

In Object Directory -> Double click on
Change Object Directory Entries
Enter AQQU(This is for ABAP Query) in the modifiable box ..
press enter ...
Check this check box ... Enter the ABAP query and press F8.
Double click on the Query and in the popup click on the
Lock Overview ...
U'll find the request number ...

is it possible to assign an object to a released transport request number.

assigning an object to an already released transport request number is not possible, you need to generate a new one and assign the object to it.

Assigning the object to a Different transport request number.

I have assigned a object to a different transport request number and i now i want to assign it to a new one..can any one tell me some procedure to change it.

Hi Joe
In SE09 tcode click on display icon and enter the transport number in which the object was already assigned and click on display.
Now delete the object from the task of the main request number.
Now its ready to lock in some other transport request. Just goto the workbench object, try to save or activate, it will automatically ask for transport request afresh. You can now assign the request at this step.
