About PDF print in OBIEE?

if i hidden a prompt in a dashboard. it will not show in the dashboard.
but when i print it by PDF format. it will show hidden prompt.
i how to remove the hidden prompt in PDF file?

Here's the way around I use:
Create a report that's empty - don't even add rows to it. Save it as something, call it, say, "NOTHING". Then on the dashboard, put the hidden prompt into its own section and do - Properties, Guided Navigation. Browse through, and select your empty report (in my case, "NOTHING"). Then where it says Show Section, make sure "If request returns rows" is selected. This won't be true as our NOTHING report is blank. And wallah, your prompt is now hidden, won't print on the PDF, and it still will work.

  • Sectioned graphs output to PDF/print issue OBIEE 11G

I've created a series of graphs by placing the field that varies in the "Sections" area, so that each graph displays data for each unique item (in this case). When viewing in IE or Firefox, the graphs look perfect, each one accurately displaying the related data as they should. However, when I go to export or print the graphs to PDF or just print them, the sectioned identifiers change accordingly, but the graphs themselves are all the same.
For example, if I create a simple analysis for items 12345, 12346, and 12347 and their annual sales, create the resulting graph, then drop the item# into the Sections, I properly get three graphs, with each identified accurately with each different item number, but each of the graphs themselves are exactly the same, always with the data from the first item of the group.
Incidentally, the table/pivot tables (if using sections) do NOT reflect this behavior when exporting/printing. They display properly. It's only the graphs.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is it a bug? We are on OBIEE 11g 11.1.3.0/ IE 8 / Firefox 13.0.1/ Adobe Reader X 10.1.3.
Apologies if this has been covered before, but I could not find any related posts. Thank you in advance!

Hi, and thank you for your response. Yes, I've tried approaching it from many different directions, including what you're suggesting. It makes no difference how simple the analyses/graphs are, it results with duplicated graphs.
Could this be caused by something we may have wrong in the instanceconfig.xml or NQSConfig.INI?

  • Questions about PDF Printing

    Hello!
Is there any way that I can print a single page from a PDF on the back of every other page in that PDF?
    Here's the example-
We use a report for certified payroll. The front of each report is different, but the back has all of the legal jargon on it that is required by the government.
Is there a way that I can print the report, and have Acrobat print the same thing on the back of each report without having to add that page everywhere I want it printed?
    Thanks!

Not really. What you can do, though, is first print out the backs of all the pages, and then insert those pages (reversed) into your printer and print the actual file.
The only other option of doing it in Acrobat is by using a custom-made script.

    Yes, absolutely.

  • More PDF Printing Problems

There are lots of notes in this forum crying about PDF printing problems. For what it's worth, I'd like to add mine.
I'm using Jakarta FOP to generate a PDF on the fly from XML data. The PDFs it's producing are read and displayed nicely by Adobe Acrobat and print from Acrobat without a problem.
I've also written a simple desktop app that exercises the java.print package. (I won't bore anybody with a listing.) It uses the PrintServiceLookup to discover the two networked printers I have attached to my machine, using DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE. I have it discover all the supported document flavors. Here's the result:
    application/octet-stream
    application/x-java-jvm-local-objectref
    image/gif
    image/jpeg
    image/png
I can sent text documents to the printer without a problem. But when I try to send a PDF generated by FOP that renders and prints fine from Acrobat, I get gibberish text out. I'm using DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE as my DocFlavor when I create the doc.
I don't see application/pdf on my list of supported document flavors. Should I? If that's a requirement, what do I have to do to the printer to get it on the list? Why is Adobe Acrobat smart enough to print to a printer wo/ this flavor and javax.print not? TIA - MOD

Now I get it - I can't send PDFs from Java to a printer. A careful reading of forum threads and John Zukowski's note have driven a stake into the heart of the vampire.
I can bring them up just fine by creating the PDF using FOP and then sending the page back to the browser for rendering. If my client could just print the document from his machine, all would be well.
However, my app has a situation where some label printers will ONLY be attached to the server. They won't be visible from the client. I thought I had a solution with javax.print, but now that hope's gone.
The printers I have aren't Postscript, so suggestions to ask FOP to generate Postcript won't help me.
Adobe's site didn't offer any relief.
I haven't been able to find any for-fee or open source packages that might help. Plenty of stuff out there to convert to PDF, but nothing that helps to print it once you have it.
Is there any point in entering this as a bug in the database? It's less bug and more vaporware. After all, the docs never SAID they'd thrown an invalid flavor exception if you tried to print a PDF.
Sun, are you listening? - MOD

  • Save As Dialog not responding - PDF Printer

Whenever I try and print to the PDF printer, (If preferences are set to prompt for file name) the "Save As " dialog locks up. The only way to clear this is to stop the Acrotray.exe. process.
I have tried changing the printer preferences, but the only options that I can get to work are:
    Prompt for Adobe PDF filename
    Documents\*.pdf
I I use the browse to point to a different location, when I save the setting, exit and then go back to check it, it has reset to Prompt.
    System
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.3

to make things clearer a screenshot of the dialog I'm talking about. this happens everywhere such a generic save file dialog appears.

  • PDF Printer and Acrobat fail to open or run or anything else.

    Hi
Adobe Acrobat Standard 9 has been installed on this TS2008 (VM) server for over a year without problem until recently.
To start, the Adobe PDF printer stopped creating PDFs. When it worked a user would print and the PDF (creation) progress bar dialog box would open and the Adobe Distiller icon would appear in the taskbar (swirling) and a PDF would be created. Now we get the progress bar but no Distiller icon and no PDF is created.
Then Adobe Acrobat Standard (editor) failed to open any PDFs. We installed Adobe Acrobat 9 reader which opened PDFs for a while and now that has stopped working.
After many uninstalls, reinstalls, reg cleans we decided to open a case with Adobe who told us that Acrobat 9 is not supported on Server2008. The customer purchased Adobe Acrobat X.
We installed Acrobat X (in terminal server mode) and all was well for around 24hrs and then it all stopped working again.
I have since uninstalled reinstalled again. I created 1 PDF and after that the progress bar just hangs. We performed a controlled user logon to the server and all was going well until one user logged in and he isnt able to open Acrobat to read or edit PDFs.
There are no events logs which appear to directly relate to this. We were concerned about a HpBIDI driver which no longer errors but we do have a large amount of EventID 7036, ServerControl Manager Eventlog provider and EventID 4 SpoolerWin32SPL.
We have since been back to Adobe Support who advised us to unplug the network cable which we cannot do as its a hosted VM (with no access to the the VM console). He then asked us to remove the server from the Domain which we can't do as this is a single live server. They intend to come back to me!
We are really at a loss here for idea's, can anyone please provide some clues?
    Thanks

    Hi billu54860732,
Try running the Repair command from under the Help menu to see if it corrects the problem.
The probable cause of the error is, multiple processes of Acrobat/Reader running in the background.
If 'Repair' doesn't resolve the issue kindly follow the steps mentioned below and check, if it helps.
    1) Press CTRL+ALT+DEL together
    2) Go to the Task Manager
    3) Go to Processes in the Task Manager and kill al the processes related to Acrobat/Reader.
    4) Launch Reader/Acrobat (It should launch without an error).
To further isolate the issue you might want to run Acrobat/Reader in an environment where no other services are running.
This can be achieved via "MSCONFIG"
    1) Click on start type run
    2) Type MSCONFIG in the run prompt
    3) Go to services and click on hide all Microsoft services
    4) Click disable all
    5) Go to the startup in configuration window and disable all startup items
    6) Restart your system
    7) Launch Acrobat/Reader
If, it is launched without an error, a service on your system is conflicting with Acrobat/Reader.
Let me know if issue persist.
    Regards,
    Aadesh

  • How to reinstall PDF Printer in Print & Scan window on OSX 10.8.2

    Hello,
I was having issues where PDF's were not saving when I was printing them, so I thought that if I deleted the PDF printer from my list of printers and reinstalled it, my problem would be solved.  Now I can't figure out how to reinstall (add) the PDF printer back into this window.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat, and I have been searching the web for about an hour.
    I am running OSX 10.8.2
I have Adobe Creative Cloud installed
I am on an iMac 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7

  • Adobe Reader 9 pdf printing turns text into symbols

I am trying to print a pdf file, when it starts printing all of the text turns into random symbols, I am trying to print a rebate and this is really frustrating. I saved the online pdf to my HardDrive, then I try to print it after opening with Adobe Reader 9. I have tried printing it as an image, and still the same occurs, my printer is fine, it prints word documents and notepad perfectly, I have all the latest updates, so I do not know why this is happening.

I do realize that not all printers are affected. However, the problem is clearly with Adobe Reader 9. The reason I say this is that the problem does NOT exist with Adobe Reader 8. The problem ONLY occurs with Adobe Reader 9. Furthermore, I am not sure what specific resolution to this printer you are referring to, but there hasn't been a solution presented thus far that is an actual fix for the problem. Originally, I identified that if I selected "Print to Image" the entire multi-page PDF would print as expected. Although, this solution causes the multi-page PDF to print very slowly (for the reasons noted by Mike). Another reader reported that if you install FoxIT PDF Reader, multi-page PDFs print just fine. I have verified that installing FoxIT Reader DOES INDEED allow me to print multi-page PDFs to our FS-C5015N. Again, if it was purely a driver issue, why would a multi-page PDF opened with FoxIT Reader print as expected while the same PDF opened with Adobe Reader 9, not print as expected? There also were a couple other posts about using the generic Kyocera KX driver. This is not an option for us. Finally, there was a post about changing the Post Script driver setings. We do not use the Post Script driver. And just as a side note, we have tried using the Post Script driver to see if this will resolve the multi-page PDF issue, and it does not. With that said, I implore Adobe to once again acknowledge this problem and provide users with a fix. This is a very frustrating problem.

  • Reader 9 PDF printing problems

I have a Kyocera FS-C5015N. When I print any multi-page PDFs to the FS-C5015N, only the first page comes out or nothing at all. I have tracked the problem down to Adobe Reader 9. I say this because I can successfully print multi-page PDFs using version 8.2. But I cannot with v9. I have downloaded the latest drivers from Kyocera's website. Same problem. I can successfully print with Word, Excel, etc. just not Adobe Reader v9. Any ideas on what I can do to resolve this issue? Thanks.

  • Problem with pdf-printing in Adobe Acrobat Pro

    Hi,
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.3.
PDF-printing has always worked great but suddenly there is some kind of problem.
After printing a excel-document from "Print to pdf" built-in function in MacOS OR Adobes Printer I have corruptet pdf-files when showing them in Adobe Reader/Acrobat, but the MacOS Preview-software shows them correct.
So, there cannot be any problem with the printing, but the local preview on my computer using Reader or Acrobat. I dont even use the Myriad font in the document, I use Verdana.

You say you're using Verdana but you're not. The error message clearly shows you're using MyriadPro Bold.
You probably recently installed the Mac OS X 10.6.7 update which has a bug with OpenType PostScript fonts like MyriadPro Bold. Either use Verdana or another TrueType or PostScript font, or revert to Mac OS X 10.6.6.

  • Acrobat 8 PDF printing with Windows 8.1/MS office 2013

I upgraded computer to Windows 8.1 and MS office professional 2013 and reinstalled adobe acrobat 8.
When I try to create pdf files from office 2013 document (Excel, Word, Publisher), computer freezes when window opens to select pfd document destination.
I tried opening office document in acrobat and try to create pdf file. I get pdf maker missing at this point.
Before updating computer I ran compatibility tool and it indicated my acrobat 8.3.1 was compatible with Windows 8.1; however noted that I needed to go to adobe website for help with adobe ExtendScript toolkit 2.  I don’t know what adobe ExtendScript toolkit 2 is and if it is associated with Adobe Acrobat or CS3.

I have no idea about the extend tool. You need to update to the latest version of AA 8, but it appears you are there with 8.3.1. You should print to the Adobe PDF printer. OFFICE 2013 is not compatible with the AA8 PDF Maker. So far I have only seen one person suggesting success with AA8 and Win8.1. If you can give details about your problem, we might be able to help, but you may not be successful. Only time and trial will tell.
