About Reader plugin license and fee

Hello.
I'm a software developer at a company.
Our company developed plugin for Acrobat and Reader for sale to our customers.
I found that Reader plugin needs license and annual fee.
Could you give how much is it costs? (annual fee).
The plugins features that we developed is that extract all text on an active document when printing
and save the text to file as a something.txt in local drive(C:\).
Is this feature of product includes DRM RIKLA structure?
And Is that different charge of fee than non-DRM product?
Thanks.

Also:
- to develop a Reader plug-in you must start with Acrobat
- Adobe only sometimes give permission for a Reader plug-in; the plug-in must suit their business aims
- the only way to find your fee is to apply. The fee is not the same for everyone.
- people do not need Reader plug-ins, because they can buy Acrobat. Part of the cost of the Reader plug-in fee is to make up for "lost" sales of Reader
- security plug-ins (DRM) are the most expensive, apparently $50,000 per year
- you will need to fully install and read many thousands of pages of documentation in the Acrobat SDK; there is a steep learning curve to write plug-ins.
- Reader plugins have many technical limitations e.g. cannot save files.

    Adobe Acrobat Reader Plugin
    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to go about getting an Adobe Reader plug-in working?
    I've read all the 'Adobe Reader Integration Key License Agreement' stuff but I'm a little confused.
    My plug-in is specific to my application (it allows a button to be added to Adobe Reader which passes the file name to my application)-nothing complicated.
    How do I go from an Adobe Acrobat plug-in to make it an Adobe Reader plug-in also?
    Is there really a cost involved in doing this?
    Any help and guidance on this would be really appreciated.
    Regards
    Stuart

    Note: it is now called Adobe Reader. Adobe Acrobat Reader was the name 10 years ago.
    Yes, there really is a cost. You apply to Adobe, and they examine your case and justification. They might approve it, and equally, they may reject it. Then they will negotiate a price with you, perhaps with a one-off cost and perhaps with an annual fee, or both. The fee will depend on volumes and type of plug-in. The most expensive are DRM plug-ins, which seem to demand five figures, recurring.
    Finally, if approved and paid for, they issue you with a key and you use it to transform your Acrobat plug-in into one that can load in Reader (it remains loadable in Acrobat). This will be valid for a specific release of Reader only.

  • Reader plugin and form submit function inside a browser. *any help or idea please*

    ok I'm pretty sure this is the wrong place, but i was looking to see if there was an adobe reader plugin for browsers and if so if there is a way to overwrite the default browser pdf viewer setting with the adobe reader viewer, sorta like opening the reader on the site,, maybe hosting a scripted version of acrobat or reader, that when uploaded to the server can be launched as a default pdf viewer inside the site itself.
    Might be simpler to explain the ends i';m trying to achieve here.. I have a application form for a daycare saved as a pdf on the server, but as you know clicking the submit button from the browsers default viewer does nothing.. well i'm looking for a way to change that with out having to code the form or implement a bunch of script and databases.. script i can deal with but i dont want to set up a database that a user would then need to go to in order to acess the submited information.. I want the info once completed in the pdf to be emailed to the end user email address, still in a pdf that he can later on print or save in a folder for later use, I dunno..  but yeah I woulds like to avoid downloading of programs as much as possible..
    How about removing the submit button from the form and placing it on the website getting by the limitations of the default viewers, I guess i'm asking if ther is a way to open a pdf on a site, and edit it on that site and then submit the information on that pdf not threw the pdf itself but the site sorta like a typical contact form built in html, but inside the corrtect boxes would be the attached completed pdf file. i guess i'd need to open a a new page inside of a div layer and then submit the information inside the div,, Mainly the complete pdf file, to the mailto: email.
    *sigh*
    any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You're not going to get that with a PDF form, sorry. A year ago I'd suggest that you look into Adobe's FormsCentral, which allows easy creation and administration of both web and PDF forms, but they have decided to discontinue this service. They have directed customers to similar services such as JotForms, so you might want to look into that.

  • Why are so many plugins "Unknown" by Firefox? And why was the last discussion on this closed? Why is there NO INFORMATION about "unknown plugins"?

    On my list of plug-ins, half of them have the status of "unkown," with a box that says "Research?" I have no idea what this means, and it makes no sense to me that the topic of "Unknown Plugins" is not addressed ANYWHERE in the Firefox help pages. I read through all the "help" pages I could find about Plugins, and none of these pages even mentioned Unknown Plugins. Even doing a search for "unknown plugins" brought up nothing except one discussion on this topic -- which never received an answer, and which has been "closed."
    This is odd because unknown plugins are obviously a major issue: HALF of my plugins are "unknown" and these are not from rare or minor companies. I don't have my entire list handy but my "unknown plugins" are from such sources as Google ("google update"), RealPlayer, iTunes, Amazon-mP3, Windows Live (photo gallery), and Picassa.
    The whole reason I ended up grappling with plugins was in my quest to get rid of the annoying ads that creep up from the bottom right of my screen, and end up getting in the way of the page I'm viewing. I can't get rid of these things no matter how hard I try. There is no "x" in the corner, no option to remove or block frame when I right click on the ads, etc.
    I have no idea if unknown plugins could play a role in these insidious ads, but there needs to be more explanation from Firefox on why so many plugins are unknown, and what exactly that means; how can "unknown plugins" possibly affect us?

    Where are you looking at your plugins? I assume that you are looking at them over at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ . This type of behavior occurs because the plugin checker doesn't know about those plugins. Since it doesn't know about these plugins it can't tell you if there up to date or not. To see the plugins that you have installed click on Firefox -> Add-ons -> Plugins. This will give you a list of the plugins you have installed. If you don't see the Firefox button then click Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins.
    As far as the ad's you are talking about this is rather concerning. This could be caused by a variety of different things. Can you provide me with the URL on one of these ad's? If you can I may be able to tell you want there associated with.

  • I'm horribly confused about student licensing and commercial use

    As the title says I'm horribly confused about student licensing and using it for commercial use.
    I currently have a Student Licensing version of Adobe Creative Suite 4 that I purchased through my school's journeyEd portal.
    Seeing how CS5 is now out I was browsing looking at prices (why not upgrade while I'm still a student, right?) and while browsing I bumped into one source that says that Student Licensing can not be used for commercial purposes, and this is when the confusion started. I remember reading before that we are able to use student licensing for commercial purposes, okay time to google search. I found one Adobe FAQ that says I can. .
    http://www.adobe.com/education/students/studentteacheredition/faq.html
    " Can I use my Adobe Student and Teacher Edition software for commercial use?
    Yes. You may purchase a Student and Teacher Edition for personal as well as commercial use. "
    and I found this old thread;
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/314304
    Where an poster listed as an employee of Adobe states
    "There is no upgrade from the CS3 Educational Edition to the comparable CS3 editions sold in non-academic environments. If you have an educational version of for CS3 obtained legitimately (i.e., you qualified for the educational version when you obtained it), you may continue to use that software for the indefinite future, even for commercial use! You cannot sell or otherwise transfer that license, though! When the next version of the Creative Suite is released, you will have two choices: (1) If you still qualify for the educational version, you can buy a copy of that next version (there is no special upgrade pricing from one educational version to another; the price is already very low) or (2) you can upgrade from the educational version of CS3 to the full version of the next version of the Creative Suite as an upgrade from CS3 at the prices published at that time. "
    Okay cool, hmm what this? Adobe is asking me if I want to IM with live costumer service agent, sure why not? Then the conversation started and I asked her my question about using my CS4 license for commercial use, she asks for my product code and email to verify my product, then informs me I can purchase the upgrade version of CS5 and use that for commercial, okay great, but not really answering my question. I reword it and give her a link to that FAQ page it goes like this. ..
    "[CS Rep] : [My name], I would like to inform you that Adobe Student and Teacher Editions are not allowed for
    commercial use.
    [CS Rep] : However, you can upgrade your current software to a normal upgrade version, and you can continue
    using it for commercial purpose.
    [Me] : Then is the FAQ page mistaken? Because it is very misleading if it is. But thank you for the information.
    [CS Rep] : You are welcome.
    [CS Rep] : I apologize for the misleading information in the FAQ."
    . .And after that, I went back to being confused.
    SO my questions are. . . Can I or can't I use my Adobe Creative Suite 4 student licensing for commercial purposes? and If I purchase a Student Licensing of CS5 can I use that for commercial purposes as well?
    Sorry for the long post, I just want to be perfectly clear on what I can and can not do with my purchase.

    The rules differ in various parts of the world. In North America you can use it for commercial work.
    There are no student/academic upgrades. The pricing is so low that in many cases you're better off buying another full student license but you are eligible for upgrade pricing for commercial versions once you're out of school.
    You may not transfer the student license in any way.

  • Need a recommendation about java smart card and a reader

    I've been posting some message in this forum and others and haven't gotten a clear response.
    I want to experiment with java smart card technology.
    From what I gathered, Gemplus is a leading company in this field so I thought about buying a smart card reader from it and a java smart card.
    I thought about buying the "USB Smart Card Reader/Writer Plug n Play (GemPC430)" reader which costs 69$.
    Is this a reasonable price?
    I need an answer from someone with experience using it.
    Now then, which one should I buy?
    I only want to do smart card to desktop application interaction without anything on the web (e-commerce or anything to do with encryption).
    I can buy 5 "GS2.2 Standard Crypto GPK8000su512 RED"
    cards which cost 87.50$
    THATS A LOT OF MONEY!!!!
    Are all java smart cards that expensive?
    There is a list of other cards on their site but I haven't been able to locate their price and don't know which to buy.
    Finally, there is the "Kit, GemSAFE Enterprise Workstation 2.21 Standard Cryptography Serial Port Reader" which as I read consists a GPK8000 card.
    Is this card a java card?
    Or do I need to buy the reader and java card seperately.
    Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I've looked closely at the Cyberflex 32K cards + SDK from Schlumberger.
    My criteria was:
    * Javacard 2.1 support
    * visa open support (or whatever it is called now)
    * complete sdk (develop, test, deploy)
    * exportable
    * upgradable
    * customer support
    I tried to get someone from Gemplus to contact me, but was unable to ever get even an
    email response.
    Schlumberger, on the other hand, won me over with the quick responses over email.
    They offer fairly inexpensive upgrades after you buy the product, and technical support
    is free.
    For simple experimentation, you can get the JavaCard SDK for free. At JavaOne, several
    years ago, they were giving away JavaRings with Card Readers (which presumably
    means these are cheap to buy) from SCM or some company in Texas. You might
    try to get one of these. They don't have much memory, but are an interesting twist
    on the Java Card thing.
    If you want to dive in, the Smart Card SDK from Schlumberger will run you about $499.
    This includes the reader, 5 cards, and the SDK. Likewise, Metrowerks puts out an
    IDE for Java Card which runs about $1200, and may be available as a bundle from
    vendors like Schlumberger.

  • Firefox Reader plugin and PDF highlighting

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using javascript from a browser to highlight words inside of PDFs using the browser plugin, like so:
       var pdfEmbed = popup.document.embeds[0];
       pdfEmbed.setCurrentPage(page);
       pdfEmbed.setViewScroll("FitH", offset);
       pdfEmbed.setCurrentHighlight(left, right, top, bottom);
    This works fine in IE, but when I try the same thing in Firefox nothing happens and I get this javascript error:
       Error: pdfEmbed.setCurrentPage is not a function
    I've tried this several different ways, but Firefox always acts like these functions aren't supported in that version of the Reader plugin.  Is that true?  I've looked online and in the documentation but haven't found a definitive answer for this.
    Thanks!

  • Plugin check says the Acrobat Reader plugin (10.0.1.434) is an outdated version; however, I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat and installed it. Is there a problem on my PC /environment or with the plugin check?

    1. Did the plugin check on June 10th -- got the message that Acrobat Reader plugin for Firefox and Netscape was an outdated version. Pressed the Update button on the page and was taken to the Adobe site.
    2. Downloaded the latest version, AdbeRdr1001_en_US.exe, and then ran the executable locally on the PC. The update completed normally. Note: I did not unistall the old Acrobat reader before running the executable.
    3. Went back to the plugin check page and I still received the outdated message for that plugin. Have rebooted system (i.e. the next day) and repeated the check, with the same results.
    4. Have opened Acrobat Reader application, pressed Help and then Check for Updates -- no new updates were found. Have run the Mozilla test (Mozilla Privacy Policy PDF) without any issues.
    5. What is the plugin version that should be registered on my PC within the Add-ons Manager?
    6. Please advise on the appropriate steps.

    I think there is a bug in Plug-in check. It happened to me as well in the last few days. There's no newer version of Adobe Reader that I know of. Anyway, Adobe is going to release a patch next Tuesday, maybe that'll fix this bug.

  • I have a Mac OS 10.7.5 and downloaded Adobe Reader, accepted the end user license, and the screen is

    is black when trying to open a document.   A pop up occurs and states to accept the end user agreement, which I did.

    Download and install AppZapper (it's a free trial)
    Launch AppZapper and drag the Reader app from yoru applications folder to the AppZapper window.
    "Zap" it to the trash with all files in the window.
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdovePDFViewer.plugin file and the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin file.
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
    Trash the Reader folder (the whole thing)
    Empty the trash
    Download the offline installer and reinstall Reader
    Double click the app in your Applications folder and accept the agreement.
    Reader should work after that.

    I am having issues with 360 degree rotation, I have an iPhone 5 and ios 6.0.2. I have read alot about this issue online and I found out that my issue is software. I want to know if and when apple will fix this issue?

    I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
    That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
    Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
    Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
    The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
    I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
    It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.
    Discouraged....

    The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
    Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
    This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

  • What is the relationship between Acrobat Pro, Acrobat Reader, and the Acrobat Reader Plugin for Firefox?

    Mozilla's plugin scanner identifies an old version of the Reader plugin on my machine. The download indicates a massive 55 MB size, and implies that Reader itself will be installed on my machine. HOWEVER, I don't want Reader installed! I use Acrobat Pro and I have noticed some problematic interactions over the years.

    I have had my apple tv 2 for about 3 months which work perfectly fine when I use it with my iPad 3 ー all of the sudden I get the HDCP Error!  I read the forms and done everything!  Apple I name a loyal customer, please come out with an update soon!

    That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
    So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
    But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...
