Hi,
Here's an alternative to purchasing Recovery Media from HP.
Download the Windows 8 Image file on the following link - note that this Image file is subject to a download cap, so you may need to try over a period of a few hours before the download starts successfully.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1
If you need a utility to create a bootable Flash Drive for this Image, try the free application below.
http://rufus.akeo.ie/
The product key for Windows 8 is encrypted in your bios chip and will be automatically read during installation.
Additional software and drivers you may require can be found by entering either your Model No. or Product No. Here.

  • PLEASE HELP ME ... I WANT TO RECOVER MY LAPTOP

    HI ALL ... I HAVE TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELLITE A300-1MO ... I WANT TO RECOVERY IT ... PLEASE HELP ME AND GIVE ME THE WAY HOW TO RECOVERY IT .. THANKS ALL

    what is the problem that you are having? why do you need to recover your laptop? to recovery your system back to factory here are the options
    OPTION 1
     turn your laptop off. then hold down zero key and push power button. do NOT let go of zero until it beeps. then it should ask you if you want to restore to factory out of box or format hdd. choose out of box. then it will give you a warning and just click yes. if this doesnt work you will need to order a set of recovery dvds unless you already have them.
    OPTION 2
     if you already have the recovery media you can press F12 at the toshiba screen during start up. this will send you to bios set up. go over to the boot tab and then move cd/dvd drive to the top of the list, save and exit. insert the recovery media into the dvd drive and then restart the laptop.
    both of these options will erase anything and EVERYTHING from you hdd. there will be no way of getting it back once it is gone.

  • Do anyone know about recovering notes that I accidentally deleted from my iPad during sync process? Thanks

    Do anyone know about recovering notes that I accidentally deleted from my iPad during sync process? Thanks.

    If you are using iCloud you can check to see if they are still available remotely by logging onto iCloud.com on a desktop/laptop computer, or 3rd party app like Private Browser or Photon.
    If your not using iCloud, or they were also removed from there, you can restore from your last backup (iTunes or iCloud). Unfortunately, this will only recover notes created prior to backing up your iPad. Hope this helps!

  • Can't recover my laptop-"Repair My Computer" not appearing in the boot menu

    A couple of times in the past have had to recover my laptop and it has been an easy process thanks to the built in recovery option (Repair my computer) in the boot menu (when F8 is pressed on the Toshiba screen), but now when i press F8 during the Toshiba screen and go to the boot options, there is no option to repair my computer. Repair my computer is usually the very first option but now the first option is "Start Windows in Safe mode". Repair my computer has disapeared! :(
    I think the cause of my problem is that i booted my laptop using my friend's windows boot disk when my computer wouldn't start a month back. It actually got my laptop going again but after booting my laptop, it told me that there is a problem with the startup and it asked if i would like to repair it and restart, which i did. Also, the windows boot disk i used to boot my laptop is a 64bit version and my laptop has a 32bit operating system. i don't know if that makes any difference.
    Could someone please help me by letting me know if there is something i can do to get "Repair my computer" back. It's so handy recovering my computer when i want to just start afresh and get my laptop running at it's best again.

    Hi!
    I agree with Horwath. You can nothing do expect to boot from Toshiba recovery disk and restore the factory settings.
    If the Repair my computer option doesnt work its strange OS issue that cant be fixed. A new installation is necessary.
    But with Toshiba recovery disk its done in few minutes. Boot from and it and follow the screen instructions. After this all drivers are installed too and the notebook is ready to use. :)

  • Startup Error - Worried About Recovering Data - Need Help!

    Hi All...
    This is my first time posting to the forum, and I'm hoping someone can help me.
    Last night, I used my MacBook Pro (specifics are pasted below) with no issues at the airport. I then boarded my flight, stowed my laptop under my seat, and landed. Total duration was about 2 hours. I got to my car, and wanted to make some notes and, when I turned on my computer, I got these screens. One is a pink and white pixelated screen, and the other is some sort of candy-striped screen with the same pink and white colors.
    I've NEVER seen anything like this before, and it's got me worried. I'm most concerned with recovering all of my files at the moment.
    The computer seems to be working normally in terms of no strange sounds, or clicks, or anything like that indicating that anything has been dislodged internally, or anything like that.
    I have all the startup and installation discs if they'll help restore anything.
    Can anyone help me? Please?
    Thank you for any advice you can offer.

    Quick update: went to the Apple store last night and, magically, the computer turned on like nothing was wrong. I'm guessing the ghost of Steve Jobs was in that store last night.
    I'm not convinced - based on my gut, and the Apple experts - that the problem is solved. I can get the computer to boot up to diagnostics and all that, but I think it might be time for a new one. I've actually attached some screengrabs of the error report if you'd be so kind to take a look.
    That said, my funding is kind of limited at this point. And, while I'd love to throw down $1,500 for a newer model, I just can't. I'm in the $500-700 range, honestly. So, I'm wondering what you'd recommend. I purchased my current model on eBay several years ago and, as I said, it worked beautifully up until now.
    Does the year of the machine necessarily dictate how well it will function? Like, because of the two year difference - rather than the OS, or installed features - is a 2008 MAC definitely going to function less well than a 2010 MAC? I've never been sure of how that works.
    So, if you'd be interested in entertaining one last request, I guess it would be your recommendation as to what type of system I should search for. Is there a wave of MACs from the past that, in your expert opinion, seemed to perform particularly well?
    Again, I'm very grateful for all of your help. Thank you!

  • Strategies for recovering a Laptop after it is stolen

    Hi all.
    I'm not sure what softwares/ services already exist concerning the recovery of a stolen laptop. But I know the consequences of losing one. If one day it does happen I would like to know what I could do to recover it back.
    I'm aware of some online services which exist to give tracking info but they charge a hefty annual amount which I feel I do not need to pay. Laptops are all about the internet. So is there any freeware that I can permanently install to pass on tracking information once this stolen laptop is hooked up to the internet? For example can the tracking information be sent directly to another computer, say my desktop computer at home? This information could then be passed on to the law enforcement.
    Maybe there exists other cleverer much better methods, which I'm hoping generous people could share. This will only serve to prevent computer/ laptop theft. Does Toshiba itself have any software? For example Samsung mobile phones are now built in with text alerts for stolen phones. Can this idea be or is this incorporated into Laptops computers?
    Please reply.

    Hi
    I think it would be nearly impossible to get back a stolen notebook.
    I read a lot about some solution to track an stolen notebook (tracking of Mac address as mentioned above, installation of some 3rd party software) but all these proposals are not really an solution
    As far as I know Toshiba provide an database for stolen units.
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com -> Support & Download -> Stolen Units
    In worst case (unit has been stolen) you can register you notebook there.
    This can help to track a serial number and help an ASP to identify an notebook as stolen unit.

  • Recovering stolen laptop

    I sold my MacBook Pro to a friend when I bought a new one. Someone recently broke into her house and stole the laptop along with all her photography equipment, hard drives and 2 years worth of photographs, about $10,000. worth of stuff. It is no longer under AppleCare Warranty.Is there a way to recover the serial number for her? I gave her the laptop in the box my new one came in so she thought she had the serial number, but it is the serial number of my new MacBook Pro. Any ideas?

    Go to this page and log in with the same AppleID you use to post in these forums:
    https://daw.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSAuthWeb.woa/wa/login?appIdKey=D531F1C 41BE58EA5BA864EA31A79DD0343C041D333CFA2246651628F0291F620
    On the next page that loads, click the My Products tab. A list of Apple products that are registered to you will appear. If the computer you sold is registered to you, it will appear in that list — and so will its serial number.
    If the registration was actually transferred to your friend, she can do the same thing to learn its serial number.

  • Advice about using the laptop with closed lid while connected to external display

    Hello all HP forum members!
    I have an ENVY 17 with Win8.1 64bit, a great laptop, but I need an advice about using it while connected via HDMI cable to an external display (TV).
    When I play heavy 3D games, the computer produces more heat than usual (of course this is normal), but doing so with closed lid, could this harm the  display in some way, as a result of the heat?
    Thanks!

    Hi @VVel ,
    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 17 Notebook and issue with keeping the Notebook on while closing the lid. Here is a document on changing the Power option.
    Control Panel - Power Options - upper left - Choose what closing the lid does.
    Change Plan Settings and also check Advanced Settings. Make sure you do this for both battery and power.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Please help...viruses prevent me from recovering my laptop and to use virtus removal

    I am trying to restore my laptop to factory settings with saving my folders. My laptop has a webstroids virus is the reason for me doing this. When the factory image recovery was finished or about finished this message pops up.....
    Restore7.exe-Application Error the instruction at 0x771fbea9 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read.
    Now what do I do? I bought the Norton 360 and it wouldn't even protect my laptop before that's another reason I wanted to restore the laptop. It wouldn't even let me install the Norton virus removal.

    Hi,
    Assuming you have Windows 7  you can try to perform recovery without backup but you'll loose all data.
    How to Perform an HP System Recovery
    Does your notebook still boot to windows? If it does then try downloading and running the following virus removal tools in normal mode or Safe Mode with Networking(Recommended)
    https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/
    http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE
    If non of the above works then the next option would be to get the Recovery Discs for your notebook.
    Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive
    Note:
    If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • Info about recover copy option

    Hello,
    my commands are based on a dataguard configuration, but I think my question is a general one.
    The manual describes a possible work flow like the one below about backup operations to be done every day (on physical standby):
    1) RESYNC CATALOG FROM DB_UNIQUE_NAME ALL;
    2) RECOVER COPY OF DATABASE WITH TAG 'OSS';
    3) BACKUP DEVICE TYPE DISK INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 FOR RECOVER OF COPY WITH TAG 'OSS' DATABASE;
    4) BACKUP DEVICE TYPE DISK ARCHIVELOG ALL; (actually the manual says SBT as type of device, but I have not a tape available right now so I'm using disk also for this step)
    5) BACKUP BACKUPSET ALL;
    6) DELETE ARCHIVELOG ALL;
    My question is about step 2).
    Actually it will do something useful only starting at day 3 (first day no backup and 3) will do a level 0; second day only level 0 and no level 1 to consolidate)
    What if the command fails in the middle? I will have the level 0 backup set compromised, because it seems to me that level 0 backup set is modified/consolidated in place, correct?
    Step 5) should backup the level 0 on tape, so that I have it available there, but any option to automatically protect level 0 disk backup set to satisfy a faster recovery in case of need?
    Or am I missing anything simple...?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gianluca

  • Curious about "Recovered Files" after restart

    Is there a way to find out the source of recovered files and what they mean? Just curious.
    My latest were:
    A folder: <msoclip>
    A folder: <CardModeFiles>
    Thank you.

    Recovered items appear when a program that creates temporary files either crashes or does not clean up after itself properly.  The Mac OS cleans the files up and puts them in this folder. This is an old apple tech note, but it is still valid:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh2267.html
    I think msoclip comes from some Microsoft software. I don't know about the CardModeFiles thingy. You can safely delete these files.
