I just Backed-up my iphone data on itunes and now i dont know where to find it. Where do i go to retrieve my iphone backup data?

    You don't "retrieve it"
You can restore your iphone from the last backup to put the info back on the iphone.

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

  • Location of iPhone sync data files or How to not have to re-install all my iPhone apps?

    Hi Folks,
I recently did a clean install of Lion on my MacBook Pro and I've chosen to not use Migration Assistant because I don't want to move over a bunch of cruft under my 4+ year old home directory (Tiger > Leopard > SL).  I've been very selective about the things I've moved over and all has gone well until I want to sync my iPhone.  I've transferred purchases from the iPhone but if I check Sync Apps, iTunes wants to wipe and re-install everything!  This wouldn't be a problem, except the time it would take to re-organize all my apps on the iPhone again.   (Side note: Please Apple, give us an "auto-organize" button for apps!)
Any idea how to move over my old sync data files to avoid having to nuke/reinstall my iPhone's apps?  Or is there another option to preserve how my apps are organizated?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Rob

Right Click the iPhone and click Transfer Purchases and then do the backup and restore from backup... That will transfer all your applications over to your computer and then organize them properly in their folders...
OK, that does make sense so I won't bother setting it up as a new phone.
Quick follow up question though, do I need to click the Sync Apps check box before I do a restore?  The reason I ask is that I've done a transfer purchases/backup/restore cycle but all the tabs (Apps, Music, Movies, etc.) do not have the sync check box checked following the restore as I would expect.  And when I go check the Sync Apps check box that's when it warns me "Are you sure you want to sync apps?  All existing apps and their data on the iPhone will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."  That's when the apps then become unorganized.
Thanks so much for your continued help!

  • Selective Recovery from iPhone BackUp

I mistakenly deleted an important note in the notes application of my iPhone. I had backed up the iPhone in (iTunes for PC); however, I only want to recover the content of notes.  Everything else is outdated. Is there a way I can either see the content of notes on the PC or recover only the content of the notes app to my iPhone?

Again, this was my original reply, which for some reason had vanished from the replies posted here!
You could use a backup recovery software to view the data you have in the backup, and choose not to restore to the old backup while still having access to view and use the data backed up.
I would personally recommend Total Saver as I use it quite often to clean things up from my iPhone and backup data to my PC. You can get notes, contacts, photos, videos, texts and a few more details using that app
I am a little hesitant to backup data to iCloud for 3 reasons :-
All my data (including contacts and texts, which are very personal) are stored somewhere on which I don't have any control and ofcourse now we all know that Uncle Sam gets all of the data!
If a device has not backed up to iCloud for a period of one hundred and eighty (180) days, Apple reserves the right to delete the backups associated with that device! So I need to keep wasting my bandwidth very often to keep backing up my iPhone to iCloud. 1 minute videos that my iPhone 5 saves for over 150Mb of disk space are really going to eat all of that bandwidth. This is mentioned in the terms and conditions agreement http://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/icloud/en/terms.html
    It does not backup everything

  • A question about restoring from cold backup(control file backup not clear)

    Hi,
I had another question about restoring the cold backup. My database is in noarchivelog mode and after taking a consistent cold backup, all I need to do is to restore the backup right? -Why I got this question is because: when I backup my control file to trace, I see statements like this:-----
-- Commands to re-create incarnation table
-- Below log names MUST be changed to existing filenames on
-- disk. Any one log file from each branch can be used to
    -- re-create incarnation records.
    -- ALTER DATABASE REGISTER LOGFILE '/uo1/app1/arch1_1_647102958.dbf';
-- Recovery is required if any of the datafiles are restored backups,
-- or if the last shutdown was not normal or immediate.
    RECOVER DATABASE
-- Database can now be opened normally.
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
My database is in noarchivelog mode now so don't know why these statements (of register the logfile) is there in the backup of control file? so when I restore the cold backup of this database, it will still work correct? (there is no logfile I have only CRD files in cold backup -no archive log files.)
    thanks

  • I want to recover a previous iphone backup data

I backed up my data from my iPhone on my Macbook Pro, and accidentaly synced it again, which over-wrote the previous back up. And now I need my original back up as it contains all my data. How can i recover data from my previous back-up? Please Help!

Unless you use Time Machine or another backup plan, you can't. iTunes only keeps one normal iPhone backup, it's actually an incremental backup in that only data that has changed is actually backed up or overwritten.

  • I can't find my iPhone backup password on my iTunes. Help please?

I made no password for my iPhone backup, and when I went to restore, it told me I needed a password. Please help?

This sounds like something you should contact Apple about.
Or, you can always try restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new device.

  • Will clicking "set as new iphone" delete my files on itunes?

I got a new phone and want to set my iphone on itunes as "set as new iphone" so that I dont get any "other" glitches so can i set up as new iphone and back up everything from itunes after?

You have two iPhones now right?
The new one if you click set up as new it will just let you start using iTunes without doing anything. After you do that you can unplug the new one and plug the old one in and backup the info to iTunes.
If you still want your contacts and stuff then go to setting and sync your contacts to iCloud or any email that you want. If you do that then all you need to do sign in to that iCloud or email account on the new phone and get the contacts back.
    Hope this helps!

  • HT4859 Confused about iPhone backups in iCloud and iTunes.

Getting mixed up about what is the purpose and content of backups of my iPhone in iTunes and iCloud. I have lost/forgotten my password for the backup in iTunes anyway and I understand there's no way of getting this back except by completely wiping everything and starting again??

You could always restore the backup again to the iPhone 5, assuming you mean that after deleting the contacts, you didn't perform another backup.
Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content & Settings
This will erase the phone and you will then go through the activation process again as you did when it was new, and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Make sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger.

  • Question about my log entry showing data file is excluded.

I am new user of Sophos for Mac.  I have OS 10.10.3 installed. My log says: com.sophos.intercheck: Info: Exclusion: /Volumes/Data/ at 12:48 on 13 June 2015
    com.sophos.intercheck:
    com.sophos.intercheck: Info: Exclusion: /Volumes/Time Machine Backups at 12:48 on 13 June 2015
com.sophos.intercheck: I understand the time machine exclusion, but not the Volumes/Data. I have excluded nothing in preferences.  In "On-Access," the excluded items pane is blank.  Is the above normal for a log in a situation where no exclusions have been made (although the check network volumes (like time machine?) has not been ticked). Thanks.

    Hi again bobalaska,
Is /Volumes/Data located on a network? that would be the obvious reason for that exclusion to exist..

  • Can't find backup data after installing iTunes 10.5.2

I replaced my iPhone4 after encountering some problems and sync my iPhone (did not logged in my Apple ID) before having my iPhone replaced.
After plugging in the replacement iPhone, iTunes prompts that my current version of iTunes can't work with the software version (5.0...) of my replacement iPhone and asked that iTunes 10.5 be downloaded.
After running iTunes 10.5, my replacement iPhone starts syncing with iTunes 10.5 and backup the replacement iPhone. But last sync data from my earlier iPhone is gone!
Called local support and asked to 'authorise this computer' but still could not locate the backup file. The last backup file was the one from my replacement iPhone.
All my contacts and especially family pictures were gone.
    Anyone can help?

Some iTunes Store issues are related to LSPs, like described in this Apple article -> iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

  • 3GS iPhone Backup, Recognition Issues With iTunes 9.2

Since "upgrading" to iTunes 9.2, our computer's iTunes can no longer successfully back up my 3GS iPhone (always encounters an "unknown error") and it will no longer recognize my husband's iPhone 3GS at all. Because I upgraded iTunes before installing the OS 4 iPhone update on my husband's iPhone (although not my own), it seems to me that the problem is with the iTunes software update itself, not the iPhone OS update. I searched the forums, and saw that others seem to be having similar issues, although I didn't see a solution anywhere. Does anyone know of a solution, and/or whether Apple is working out whatever this bug is with iTunes 9.2? UGH - so. frustrating. Thanks!

just an fyi...i set up mobileme yesterday and had all my contacts, calendars, etc. synced and ready to go. so i hooked up my iphone to itunes and i "set up as new" and it didn't delete anything and it just synced fine.
i'm not saying the same thing will happen to yours but it seems that just going through the new iphone setup as a new phone just worked. i wouldn't do a restore unless it's really recent.
so, go ahead and try to just set up as new and you should be fine...i was.

  • How do i get iphone backup files to show in itunes?

    Hi.
Ive recently had to start using another computer due to a component failure, and as a result managed to wiped my iphone of its original contents during an update on the 'new' computer. I have my old hard drive connected to this computer via a docking station, and can access all the files on it with no problems. I've deleted any itunes stuff on the 'new' computer so that the only apple/itunes stuff is on my old hard drive, but when i launch itunes, its not like it was when i left it. no music loaded in library etc. not a major issue as the music is all still on the hard drive. My issue is with the apps and back ups for my phone. I can view the folders with the back ups in, but they wont show in itunes. I'd love to restore my phone back to how it use to be.
Can anyone help me out, as i'm at a brick wall with my knowledge level.
    thanks in advance
    Dave.

You can open an alternate library by holding down shift when starting iTunes.
A GUID is a Globaly Unique IDentifier. I this case I the backup folders appear to be named bunch of numbers & letters probably meant to be unique. If your original library opens properly (and you haven't wiped the device) then you don't need to worry about restoring the iPhone backups from the previous system.
There's another GUID buried in the iTunes Library.itl that identifies your old library as the "home" library for your device. If you try to connect the device to a new library, even if it has all the same content, iTunes will want to wipe the device and start over. Not so much a problem for media but you might lose app settings. Best if you can connect properly to your old library, otherwise restoring from a preserved backup should restore your app data.
