About reflection and packages

Bonjour a tout le monde!
Could someone tell me how to retrieving the classes stored in a package.
I've a code like this:
Package p = Package.getPackage("java.net");and I'm looking for a way to get a list of Class objects present in 'p'
HELP!!!

Neither article addresses the original poster's question or the problem he wants to solve. In which circumstances pointing out that "you can't do that" is reasonable.
The nearest compromise (and the technique that I believe Eclipse uses) is to actually determine from the JAR files provided in the classpath what classes are immediately available. That's not easy to do, and certainly not addressed by the sort of reflection API method that the OP was looking for.
instead of just automatically negating everythingI had read the articles that you posted, and you were implying that the OP's problem could be solved using the classloader. Since this was wrong I don't think I was "automatically" negating everything.

A question about CLASSPATH and Package

The configuration of my computer is:
Windows98, C:\j2sdk1.4.0
Which in Autoexec.bat are included like this:
path=C:\j2sdk1.4.0\bin
set CLASSPATH=C:\j2sdk1.4.0\lib
Then I make a new directory named t in C:\j2sdk1.4.0\lib, where there is a compiled file a.class, source code is:

And another java file was in D:\t, named b.java, code like this:

Then I compiled like this: javac b.java, it was wrong; but when I compiled like this: javac -CLASSPATH C:\j2sdk1.4.0\lib b.java, It was OK!!! Why?? And then when I execute like this: java b, an error message was prompted(Can not find class t/a)!!! How can I do?

First one general comment: I would not advise putting your own classes into C:\j2sdk1.4.0\lib since this suggests that the classes under this directory belong to the Java distribution. So my advice: create your own directory somewhere like D:\user\Classes or whatever.
The directory (-ies) you specify in CLASSPATH are root entries telling the JVM where to start looking for classes. Why root entries? Well, the package structure is reflected in the directory structure relative to these roots. So a class of package t belongs into the subdirectory t of one of the directories specified in your CLASSPATH. This would be the case of your class a - by the way, the convention says that class names are capitalized. Since class b, on the other hand, is not in any package, it belongs irirectly into one of the directories of your CLASSPATH.
Whereas the compiler is fairly forgiving about the location of your source files, the JVM is not. Invoking a class of some package requires you to provide the fully-qualified name to the java command. So if you wanted to run class a, you would have to invoke "java t.a". Starting class b, simply requires a call of "java b". But make sure the class file of class a is located in the subdirectory t of one of the directories specified in your CLASSPATH.

Need help about classpath and packages

I am new to jAVA and trying to learn packages.I wrote a java programme called AccountBalance.java with package MyPack;
I set the classpath as C:\java programs\MyPack.
My java program was compile fine BUT classes were not creating in MyPack folder.
Cananyone suggest how java programs create the classes in ClassPath specified folder automatically.

Here you want to create your class file in a separate package.
Actually the creation of class will happen at the time of compilation.
So you have to take care about it at the time of compilation.
try this one to compile your source file:
javac <java source file name> -d <targetplace>
the java source file name is your source file name and -d is switch that is used to create the package(directory) and the target place is the location where you want to create your package. if you want to create your package in the current directory then you can simply give
javac <java source file name> -d .
try this one all the best. if it's not working then reply me so that i can check myself and try to find another solution for that.

Available APIs for process and package management

Hello All and welcome to my Hello All:
Welcome to my inaugural post. I am a complete noob to Solaris (although I have been using Linux for 5+ years) and am in the process of trying to get a handle on what local C/C++ APIs (if any) are available for management. Specifically, I am looking to find out about process and package management.
For process management, basically I would like to know is there some kind of interface to the the prstat application (ie. Memory and CPU utilization). Does something like this exist?
For package management, I am looking for the ability to add, remove, and query the package �database�. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Solaris package �database� seems similar to that of a Debian system (at least from the perspective that the informational files are stored as plain text in a well-defined directory [ie /var/sadm/pkg/]).
I have installed Solaris 10 on an x86 machine with a full installation; however, of the installed development kits (listed below) nothing jumped out at me.

Does something like this exist?Not prstat (although you could 'truss' it and see some of what it's doing to collect the information). kstat is available with a C interface and through perl/shell. It has several CPU fields. It's certainly useful for monitoring, but read-only. I'm not sure what you're looking for in terms of "management".
Also 'dtrace' can provide tons of dynamic information, but that's not necessarily what you're looking for.

Unicode export:Table-splitting and package splitting

Hi SAP experts,
I know there are lot of forums related to this topic, but I have some new questions and hence posting a new thread.
We are in the process of doing unicode conversion in our landscape(CRM 7.0 system based on NW 7.01) and we are running on AIX 6.1 and DB2 9.5. The database size is around 1.5 TB and hence, we want to go in for optimization for export and import in order to reduce the downtime.As a part of the process, we have tried to do table-splitting and parallel export-import to reduce the downtime.
However, we are having some doubts whether this table-splitting has actually worked in our scenario,as the export has exeucted for nearly 28 hours.
The steps followed by us :
1.) Doing the export preparation using SAPINST
2.) Doing table splitting preparation, by creating a table input file having entries in the format <tablename>%<No.of splits>.Also, we have used the latest R3ta file and the dbdb6slib.o(belonging to version 7.20 even though our system is on 7.01) using SAPINST.
3.) Starting with the export using SAPINST.
some observations and questions:
1.) After completion of tablesplitting preparation, there were .WHR files that were generated for each of the tables in DATA directory of export location. However, how many .WHR files should be created and on what basis are they created?
2.) I will take an example of a table PRCD_CLUST(cluster table) in our environment, which we had split. We had 29 *.WHR files that were created for this particular table. The number of splits given for this table was 36 and the table size is around 72 GB.Also, we noticed that the first 28 .WHR files for this table, had lots of records but the last 29th .WHR file, had only 1 record. But we also noticed that, the packages/splits for the 1st 28 splits were created quite fast but the last one,29th one took a long time(serveral hours) to get completed.Also,lots of packages were generated(around 56) of size 1 GB each for this 29th split. Also, there was only one R3load which was running for this 29th split, and was generating packages one by one.
3.) Also,Our question here is that is there any thumb rule for deciding on the number of splits for a table.Also, during the export, are there any things that need to be specified, while giving the inputs when we use table splitting,in the screen?
4.) Also, what exactly is the difference between table-splitting and package-splitting? Are they both effective together?
If you have any questions and or need any clarifications and further inputs, please let me know.
It would be great, if we could get any insights on this whole procedure, as we know a lot of things are taken care by SAPINST itself in the background, but we just want to be certain that we have done the right thing and this is the way it should work.

Package splitting and table splitting works together, because both serve a different purpose
My way of doing is ...
When i do package split i choose packageLimit 1000 and also split out the tables (which i selected for table split) into seperate package (one package per table). I do it because that helps me to track those table.
Once the above is done i follow it up with the R3ta and wheresplitter for those tables.
Followed by manual migration monitor to do export/import , as mentioned in the previous reply above you need to ensure you sequenced you package properly ... large tables are exported first , use sections in the package list file , etc

Well i would say run R3ta (it will create multiple select queries) followed by wheresplitter (which will just split each of the select into multiple WHR files) ...

Rule is use executable of the kernel version supported by your system version. I am not well versed with 7.01 and 7.2 support ... to give you an example i should not use 700 R3ta on 640 system , although it works.

If you ask for 10 split .... you will get 10 splits or in some case 11 also, the reason might be the field it is using to split the table (the where clause). But not 100% sure about it.

Not sure why you got 29 split when you asked for 36, one reason might be the field (key) used for split didn't have more than 28 unique records. I dont know how is PRCD_CLUST split , you need to check the hints file for "key". One example can be suppose my table is split using company code, i have 10 company codes so even if i ask for 20 splits i will get only 10 splits (WHR's).
Yes the 29th file will always have less records, if you open the 29th WHR you will see that it has the "greater than clause". The 1st and the last WHR file has the "less than" and "greater than" clause , kind of a safety which allows you to prepare for the split even before you have downtime has started. This 2 WHR's ensures that no record gets missed, though you might have prepared your WHR files week before the actual migration.

Not aware any thumb rule. First iteration you might choose something like 10 for 50 GB , 20 for 100 GB. If any of the tables overshoots the window. They you can give a try by increase or decrease the number of splits for the table. For me couple of times the total export/import time have improved by reducing the splits of some tables (i suppose i was oversplitting those tables).

Sorry, if this reply seems like a products plug (which it is), but this is really how we solve this software engineering challenge at JKI...
At JKI, we create VI Packages (which are basically installers for LabVIEW instrument drivers and toolkits) of our reusable code (using the package building capabilities of VIPM Professional). We keep a VI Package Configuration file (that includes a copy of the actual packages) in each of our project folders (and check it into source code control just as we do for all our project files). We also use VIPM Enterprise to distribute new VI Packages over the network.
Also, as others have mentioned, we use the JKI TortoiseSVN Tool to make it easy to use TortoiseSVN directly from LabVIEW.

For a direct answer, here's the the Jpeg FAQ. If what you are actualling requesting is "how do I use images in Java" take a look at the ImageIcon class, the javax.imageio package and search this forum for examples. You could also check the How to use Icons in the Java Tutorial.

Export terminated successfully with warnings.Unfortunately, you can't export just the objects you want to unless they are tables.
Using import (imp) you can list the content of your packages, procedures, functions, views, etc. and perhaps that will give you what you need.
Another choice would be to useSELECT * FROM user_source ORDER BY 2, 1, 3;to list the code.

Class and package names

I'm novice in Java, but not novice in programming. So, it is not a problem to understand and to write simple samples, but it is still hard to create a good package structure and give good names for classes.
For example now, I started writing simple standalone application, which will be run by cron and will communicate with 2 webservices. I will receive data(reports) from one webservice, and will send this data to another one. From the very beggining, I have a poblem about structure of roject and naming. Is it ok, to make only one class, with name for example ReportApp? Or better create one class for communicating with first service, another - with second, and main class will call methods of this classes? Also package name... I think it is good, when from package you see, that i is service, or xml.util etc. How can I show in package name that it is batch standalone application? Can somebody explain what names for classes and packages he'll use for such task, please.

Descriptive names are nice....
For packages, a standard method is a domain name for your company or organization:
com.widgetsRus.service.
com.widgetsRus.ui.
com.widgetsRus.util.
As for class names, just descripe what the class is for. ReportServer, ReportClient, Report (interface), AbstractReport (implements Report), StatusReport (extends AbstractReport), etc...
As for creating a class for this and that, or separate classes, that's a design issue, but typically, it's easier to maintain things if they are kept in smaller classes with related functionality.

How to query DDL locks on stored procedures/functions and packages?

Hi!
The subject says it all: How do I see existing DDL locks on stored procedures/functions and packages?
While a procedure is executed it can't be deleted or replaced, so there has to be a DDL lock on it. The information does not seem to be in V$LOCK or V$LOCKED_OBJECTS.

Yaourt and packages that have been moved from AUR to community

Well first off, why does yaourt even wanna build the package if it has been removed? I did a search in the AUR and all I see is stress 1.0.0-1. I thought I read somewhere that yaourt is a wrapper for pacman and therefor would search the repositories before it searches the AUR for the program?

This doesn't seem right to me either... is it just me or should yaourt be informed on where stress has gone if it has been removed from AUR and not just leave yaourt open ended with a basic error?
I tried

but yaourt thinks it should be a package in AUR. But I presume this should be added functionality in yaourt to work like pacman?

yes, that fixed it. never thought about updating AUR packages.
would be alright to add something like this to .bashrc to make this whole process a one time command?
alias pac-update="yaourt -Syyu | yaourt -Su --aur"
the answer to this ^^^ is NO, because the second command locks the database. U would need a way to tell it to pause until the first command finished, then issue the second command. I quite frankly do not understand enough of linux bash programming to accomplish that ATM.

I've read about WRAP utility but I don't know exactly what's it about. Here you are what ýI've read:ý
The code used to create the procedure ,package ,or function is available in the dictionary ýviews DBA_Source ,All_Source,and user_source except when you create them with the ýWRAP utility .the WRAP utility generates encrypted code, which only the Oracle server ýcan interpret .ý

Generally, one uses the WRAP utility when
- You are delivering code to a third party
- You want to ensure that the third party isn't able to decompile your code.
If you built a CRM application with stored procedures and packages and you started selling that commercially, for example, you would use the WRAP utility to ensure that competitors couldn't reverse engineer your code and see how you did things.

Missing reflection and captions

I have been sending out my iWeb addresses to my friends and one, who has both a PC and a Mac, reported that when the site was opened and the slide show is loaded and played on the PC, the reflection and captions were present, but when Safari was used on the Mac Mini, no reflection and captions were visible. Does anyone have a suggestion as to why this happened, and what could be done about it? I want my captions to be able to be viewed when watching the slide show.

I have discovered that, at least in one case, when a Mac user opens my sites with FireFox, the captions don't show and Windows users can use IE or FireFox and the captions show, but the reflections do not.

Compiler and packaging

sorry but this seems a strange question,
first i created 2 compilation units one in the unnamed package and the other in a package called package1 as in the code below:

i placed the 2 files together in the <<<same folder>>> and created a subdirectory called package1. the problem is that when i compile the compilation2.java source using the -d flag every thing will go fine but when i try to compile compilation1.java so both can be compiled at the same time, a strange error appears:

****Note: the first error concerning the package is due to that the package is empty and there is no problem in that but it is the second error, i think it is due to that the compiler first look to compilation2 in the unnamed package and it finds it but the code specify that the code must be in a package but my problem is that i don't know what is the relation between the constructor and that packages mismatch.

The files need to be in a directory which reflects the package.
I would suggest using an IDE like NetBeans or Eclipse (both free) which handle these issues, including build, run , debug for you.

SSRS with Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages

Hi,
I am working on a BI project. Here we are using PowerPivot to access data from Oracle DB and generate reports. Currently Client generates Few reports using Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages. We need to move everything to PowerPivot, so
that user can generate all reports using same platform. But PowerPivot doesn'e support Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages. So we have decided to try those reports using SSRS.
I have no knowledge about using SSRS which will call Oracle function/stored procedures/packages for generating reports.
Can anybody help me in getting exact steps?
