About  reports distibution in 10g reports.

Hi,
I have to generate multiple reports in to multiple formats(html, pdf, printer). Do I have to create mutilple distributions files(dest1.xml,dest2.xml..etc)?. I developed these reports in 10g(paper layout).
Is it possible to get an example?

Hello,
envFile are used by Forms runtime. The Reports Server is not started by the Forms runtime, so , it will not inherit the environments variables.
On Windows, you can set REPORTS_PATH in the registry
On UNIX, you can set it in the script ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh
You can set it too, in the Reports Server Configuration file :

  • Printing Oracle 10g Reports in Line Matrix Printers

    Hello!
I encountered problem when printing a generated report in Oracle 10g Reports to a Line Printer. When the report is in PDF format, the fonts when printed on line printers become scattered and the orientation of the report rotates 90 degrees. If I use HTMLCSS format, the pages are not of fixed size. Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Setup CUPS Printing Environment in Linux / Unix (on many modern Linux systems, CUPS is the default Printing System at the moment). The details of setup / build of CUPS is beyond the scope of this article. For details, please visit CUPS sites and documentation :
    http://www.cups.org
    http://www.cups.org/doc-1.1/sam.html
The setup of CUPS is complete for our purposes, once you are able to print PDF documents directly from unix shell as follows :
    $ PRINTER=yourprinter
    $ export PRINTER
    $ lp test.pdf
    OR
    $ lpr test.pdf
    * The "yourprinter" above should be substituted with the name of your printer queue defined in CUPS and "test.pdf" is any pdf document available on this server.
    2. In reports.sh, set the following parameter and restart the Report Server:
    REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING=YES; export REPORTS_CUPS_PRINTING
    3. Setup PDF functionality (including Font Subsetting / Embedding etc) to display the output as required in PDF format. To check this, run the report with the option "...destype=cache&desformat=PDF...".
    4. Run the report with parameters "...&desformat=PDF&destype=printer&desname=yourprinter&...."
This way, Reports Server generates a PDF file in cache and sends it to CUPS printer queue, ie the "desformat=pdf" option is no longer ignored with "destype=printer".

  • Can we call 10g Report from Form-6i???

Hi buddies.....Can we call a report developed in 10g reports from a 6i Form using Run_Report_Object???

    Hi,
you can run the reports in 6i. There won't be any problem. I have checked with the RDF file.
I don't know whether the REP file which is generated in 10g can be opened in 6i or not.
    Regards,
    Manu.
If this answer is helpful or correct, please mark it. Thanks.

    Why ........Please help me..

you need to configure your application Server if calling from an application server
if calling from the same machine then configure your OC4J container properties in the config files located in server folder of your ORACLE_HOME

  • About 10g reports

    Hi,
As we did in ealier version 6i we can save the report output in text csv format.
Same thing can we done in 10g reports?
    Thanks a lot

Yes via DELIMITED or DELIMITEDDATA desformats, except you have a new format called SPREADSHEET which maintains more formatting for excel.

  • Report 6i vs 10g

I have migrated from reports 6i to 10g. In reports 6i, we have a report previwer which give exactly as how we design in the report builder and we are able to print as it is.
But in 10g we have different destination format & type. Which is the best format to use.
I have used html, but my reports has line formating etc, which are not appearing in html.
I have tried pdf , format are almost same, but orientation is wrong. My report orientation is landscape. but printing it is going to potrait mode. every time i have to select landscape mode. Where as the same report is correctly printing in 6iver.
Please suggest a best report format.

I don't think there is a "best report format". Id depends on what you want to achieve. Instaed of html you could use htmlcss, this provides html-output with extended layour options. For printing, pdf (in my opinion) is the best format. About your problem with always having to choose the correct orientation, there is an option in pdf-viewer to "always take the best fitting paper", this should solve your issue.

  • Oracle XE and 10g reports

    Can this be done?
have installed XE, and have been using HTML DB. I am wanting more control with my reports, and I am much better with 10g reports developer than the built in html db reports.
I found this site, but I am stuck on "deploying the report" (#9/#10)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_integrate_oracle_reports.html
I coppied the rdf to $ORACLE_HOME/reports/samples/demo
then I ran "Start OC4J Instance"
But when I try to call the report in either firefox or IE like it tells me to, I can't get it to work. Page Cannot Be Found. (I replaced USER and PW too)
    http://menzoberranzan:8080/reports/rwservlet?module=Invoice.rdf&userid=USER/PW@xe&destype=cache&desformat=pdf
Any suggestions as to how to do this without installing more on my computer, such as Oracle Application Server?
    Thanks

No ideas about running an Oracle Report on an Express Edition DB so I can call it from a HTML DB application?

  • Oracle 10g Reports running slow

On one server we have an issue with some reports of 2pages taking 2 minutes or more to run, but on another server with the same data transferred across the same report runs in about 3-5 seconds.
The reports we are having issues with contain graphs.
The server spec is better on the slower running report server than the other report server.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi,
did you any exceptions you in the logs of report server??
    Location:
    $ORACLE_HOME/reports/logs/ <report_server> / .
Remove a trace, when your executing the graphical report.
It would help you to finding why the report is taking so much time
please follow the below link for tracing the reports in OAS 10g

  • Upgrade reports 6i to 10g

We are working in an Oracle Applications environment, 11.5.10.2, database version 10.2.0.4.
We are transitioning to Windows 7 boxes, and Windows 7 seems to be quite incompatible with Reports 6i / Forms 6i. (If anyone has found a way to make this work, please do let me know!)
One of the other developers wants us to upgrade from Forms/Reports 6i to Forms/Reports 10g. I am concerned about being able to maintain our custom reports written in 6i, as well as being able to open and examine the Oracle Reports that come seeded with Oracle Applications.
Has anyone gone through this upgrade, and have any experiences you could share, good or bad? I'd appreciate it, I need to be able to give an informed opinion on this topic, but can't really seem to find any information on this topic (metalink, google, etc.) Links on this topic would also be very welcome, happy to read, just can't find anything to read!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thank you so much for your reply.
I usually pride myself on finding stuff - they call me the "Google Queen" at work, but was unable to find this information.
By any chance, would you have a link to where using Reports 10g is only possible on Apps 12? Continued to look after your reply yesterday but still unable to find anything. Even the key words you used to search the forum would be very appreciated. I'm pretty sure my co-workers will want to see "proof", they think I just don't want to upgrade!
We did try the virtual machine approach, and were unsuccessful, but since you indicated it can be done, I am going to revisit that and try again to get it working.
    I appreciate the help!
    Thanks,
    Miriam

  • Samples template for oracle 10g reports

    Hi,
I need a oracle 10g reports sample templates were we need to make modifications and use it.
if any body has the sample templates can share with me or where can i get the sample templates.
    Please advice.

In your $ORACLE_DEV_HOME/reports/templates, there are many template examples (they are actually all the same, just different colors). I would start with one of those templates and work forward. Make sure to read about templates in the online help, as applying them can override any changes you made to a report. Also read about how inheritence works in templates.

  • Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g

    Hi;
Where can i find the Technical Document (Exact Procedures) To Migrate Forms/Reports 9i to 10g?

This seems to be a common point of confusion. The "FMw Upgrade Assistant" is a utility which helps you to upgrade the entire Application Server installation to a newer version (e.g. 11.1.x). This has nothing to do with your Forms (fmb, mmb, pll, etc) or Reports (rep, rdf, etc) applications. Generally speaking, I would say that using the UA is not necessary and likely should not be used in most cases. Cases where it should be used might include a situation where your previous version has been significantly customized and you don't know how or don't want to make the same customization in the new environment manually. Whether you are talking about a new product (Oracle or not) or even a new OS, generally your best bet is to start with a clean, new installation. Attempting to upgrade an existing version always comes with problems. Just one man's opinion ;-)
As for your Forms application(s), there is a Forms Migration Assistant (FMA), explained in the Forms Upgrade Guide:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/doc.11120/e24478/toc.htm
That said, just like using UA, it is always better to take the extra time and not rely on such tools if they can be avoided. In most cases, the FMA will not be needed. This is especially true if your application is coming from version 10. For older versions, using FMA might be beneficial.
So, to the point, in order to move a Forms application (fmb, mmb, pll) from version 10 to 11 is as simply as recompiling your modules using the v11 compiler. That's it ;-)

  • Sorting in 6i and 10g reports

    Hello All,
    I am running 6i and 10g reports against a 10g database.
I ran one of the 6i report and it generated a report in one sorting ordear
and when i ran the same report on 10g ,it generated the report in ddifferent order.
Both the reports r run against the same 10g database.
The order by clause on the columns of the records r identical.
Now i wanted to understand how it is sorting in different orders in both 6i and 10g reports?
    Thanks,
    Ranz

    Hi,
Please note the fact that 6i Reports is not certified to work with 10g Database. Hence it becomes impossible to address the sorting behavior of 6i Reports, though there is nothing different in the way it works. I would suggest you to use 10gR2 version of Reports services with 10g Database which is certified and supported. Thanks for your understanding.

    Anand

  • Custom Paper Size : Migrating from 6i to 10g report server engine

    Hi,
    pardon my bad english !!
I'm studying to migrate form/reports 6i to 10G. In report 6i we have reports with custom paper size ("A5" format that is half of "A4", 15x21cm).
In report server 6i environment (Win2000 server) we have done this configuration.
    - We configure printer; one input tray has "custom" format.
    - We create an OS user (es. CustRep);this user has a "default printer" that has input tray with "custom" format as default tray.
    - We create a new report server (es. CustRepSrv); this report server start as service with CustRep user credentials.
    - Every report (PDF format) generated and printed (destype=printer, desname="My Printer") with CustRepSrv report server get custom format as paper size and so fit with Custom tray definition on the printer.
Can I do the same in report server 10G environment ??
    Thanks
    Andrea

Using these and not hearing much bad
    Init Engine 1
    Max Engine 6

  • From 6i to 10g "How to run a 10g report from OEM scheduler"

We recently converted all of our 6i form and reports to 10g. We had forms and reports running as batch processes.
Now that we are using 10g it is understood that we cannot run the forms as we did in 6i using OEM scheduler, so they were converted to scripts.
Our problem still remains, How do we run 10g reports as batch processes?
    Can we use OEM scheduler?
Is there a better product to accomplish this task?

    Hello,
How do you execute your Reports ?
Do you execute it from the Builder ?
If you execute it from the Builder, do you use Run Web Layout or Run Paper Layout ?
(If you have upgraded a Reports From 6i, there is no web layout , so you have to use the Run paper Layout
The web layout is something new that appeared in Reports 9.0.2)

  • Report server 6i and Report services 10g

what is the extra features in Report Services 10g which are not available in Report server 6i.
why would we use AS report services 10g rather then report server 6i,and our only requirment is to run oracle report on web which can fulfill with the help of reports server 6i.

There is a long list of new features and I cant put all of them here
    You can see docs below
For running on Web 9i, 10g moves to Servlet based architecture (though old cgi mode is available for backward compatibility). Reports behaves as a component in IAS and can be monitored and managed through Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
