About screen resolution??

Hey, can anyone tell me how to adjust screen resolution in an application such that web pages fit to every monitor???

I am thoroughly confused by your question. It seems like you want to tackle this problem the wrong way around, a web page should be able to render on all resolutions you want to support, you do not start adjusting screen resolutions :s

  • Moan about screen resolution

    This is a general moan (hopefully Steve Jobs will read it and come up with a solution)...
    Like a number of other posters in this forum, I am finding the resolution of my new iMac 20" a real struggle. I want to display it at its natural resolution of 1680 x 1050 in order to attain a crisp, clean display. However at this resolution the navigators (gumdrops, scroll bars, twisties in Mail, etc) are only about 3mm wide. Now I'm pretty adept with a mouse, but I have to really look in order to click accurately on these navigators. It slows me down no end and is VERY frustrating.
    Surely it would be possible to have a System Preference for increasing the size of the general navigators, similar to present features that allow changing icon sizes.

    Mark.

  • About screen resolution for large displays

    Can someone PLEASE tell me:
    Is it possible to set the second display for your 15" Macbook Pro to higher than 1490x900 (somehow even if it's with third party software), up to for example 1920x1200 to utilise the new LED Cinema Display properly, or do you just run a blown up 1440x900?
    This question applies to the new AND old Macbook Pros please...
    Thanks

    Hi pjmpjm: I run an external 20" from my MacBook Pro, it quite easily runs at it's native resolution of 1680X1050. When operating in extended desktop mode it will adapt to the native resolution of the external monitor.
    Hope this helps

  • SCREEN RESOLUTION IN BDC

    HI,
    CAN ANY ONE TELL ABOUT SCREEN RESOLUTION IN BDC.
    REGARDS.
    B.SREENIVASULU.

    Hi,
    Screen resolution means different in the screen display depending on ur system screen resolution.
    suppose ur system resolution is diff and another's system is different then like in Tcode VA01, there will be 3 lineitems and another there will be 5 lineitems ,
    so while doing recording and page down that will bw diff so there will be some problem
    So u have to set the screen resolution as default by using CTU parameters..
    write this code then
    f_option-updmode  = 'S'.
    <b> f_option-defsize  =  'X'.</b> f
    _option-dismode  = 'N'.
    *call transaction 'VA01' using bdcdata options from f_option  messages into bdcerror.
    Hope it helps.

  • Screen resolution yet again

    Although this forum has taught me a lot about screen
    resolutions, view ports
    etc. I am still struggling.
    I am on a broadscreen laptop with screen resolution 1440 x
    900 - at the moment
    perhaps uncommon, but possibly gaining popularity.
    I have a relativeley positioned div containing an absoluteley
    positioned div,
    that has an image in it, all in a table with fixed width.
    The image in the absolute pos. div shifts as I change the
    view port. Why is
    that? I would expect it to always sit the specified px's away
    from the
    container div.
    http://www.spinsister.nl/blog/index.php
    , I am talking about the two pictures
    in the entry 'Vanuit de verte', at the moment at the top of
    the page.)
    Sorry to have to ask about this yet again. I read Nadia's
    article several times
    and thought I understood, but obviously don't.
    Regards,
    Adriana.

    Anyhow, you need a) to validate the page, and b) to put a
    valid and complete
    doctype on it so that you get out of quirks mode.
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#ffffff"><table width="770">
    <tr>
    <td valign="top" bgcolor="#ffffff"><div
    id="entryview">
    This is clearly invalid code, as is this -
    </tr>
    </tr>
    Also, you have HTML in your CSS files (there should only be
    CSS in CSS
    files) -
    <style type="text/css">
    I see what you are experiencing, and my experience tells me
    that something
    on the page is working in ways that you don't expect.
    Personally, I
    wouldn't use a table-based layout at all, but I realize you
    are already
    committed to it. Also, try adding borders to this rule -
    .gallerycontainer{
    position: relative;
    /*Add a height attribute and set to largest image's height to
    prevent
    overlaying*/
    and you'll see that it's not being expressed at all. That's
    likely the
    source of your problem.

  • Help please? problems with screen resolution & external monitor

    had a look around this forum and seen many questions about screen resolution when connecting to an external monitor but unfortunately, non that help me answer my problem.
    got a brand new macbook a few months ago and today bought a HP v220 22" external monitor.
    I am new to the idea of external monitors and am unsure what i am doing wrong settings-wise. it seems that no matter what resolution i set either my macbook display, or the external monitor display to. the external monitor is still not sharp.
    Im not sure how to explain what i need but basically i need it to be so that things appear on the external the same size as they do on my macbook screen, so that i will have more space to work in on my external monitor (i am a graphics student) but at the moment what appears on the monitor is lieterally just a magnified version of my macbook screen, hence it lacks clarity.
    the highest resolution offered in the menu for my macbook screen is 1280x800 and my external is recommended to be set at 1680x1050.
    what settings should i have to get the resolution right?
    i will be so so grateful if you can help. i think ive tried every single display setting but to no avail. so please help me!

    The 13.3" screen on the MacBook running at 1280 x 800 will have a ppi (pixels per inch) of around 113. A 22" monitor running 1680 x 1050 will have a ppi of around 90. So it is natural that it will look magnified compared with the MacBook. The two displays have different a pixel pitch.
    Since there are no monitors with ~113 ppi out there in the market, what you want to do with having the same size and sharpness between the MB and a monitor will not be possible.
    If you ran the MB's screen at 1024 x 640 (not even sure if that is an available choice), then the two screens would match in terms of "magnification." But the MB isn't going to look very sharp running such a low, non-native format.

  • Detect Screen Resolution

    Hello, I am a newbie and would appreciate help from all the
    helpful people on this forum.
    I am creating a site with Dreamweaver but having problems
    with screen resolution. I need help with a script that would detect
    the screen resolution and load an alternative CSS that would also
    change the font. I found several scripts on the internet but none
    would work. Can someone help me with this? I found this script but
    I am sure I am missing something why it is not working for me. I
    spent 2 days trying to make it work and now I feel like I am
    loosing my mind. Here is the script
    function styleSwitcher(){
    var theStyleLink = document.getElementById('styleSwitch');
    if (window.innerWidth < 810){
    theStyleLink.setAttribute("href","CSS/LowResAdjust.css");
    else {
    theStyleLink.setAttribute("href","styles_main.css");
    What am I **** wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    > What am I **** wrong?
    Worrying about screen resolution. It's meaningless. What
    matters is the
    browser's viewport dimensions and that is unpredictable. Best
    to design for
    a set width (I usually use 780px) or create a fluid layout
    (generally I hate
    them).

  • How to turn off "screen resolution" warning in iPhoto?

    I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on a Mac mini (Late 2012), 2.3 GHz, 4 GB memory, iPhoto version 9.5.1 (902.17). I get the "screen resolution not optimal for iPhoto" warning repetitively about once every 15 minutes as long as iPhoto is running. I have set the resolution to my preference and I don't mind seeing this warning once when I start iPhoto, but it gets annoying. How can I set iPhoto to stop doing this?

    Is there a reason, why you do not update to the Yosemite compatible version iPhoto 9.6? I never get the warning, you are reporting, if the iPhoto window can fit the screen, with MacOS X 10.10.2 and iPhoto 9.6.1.

  • EHP1 Upgarde Monitor screen resolution problem in a support message

    Hi Experts,
    We have recently upgraded our Solution manager to EHP1, iam facing a screen resolution problem with 15 inch monitors.
    Our key users have 15 inch monitors to their system and when they try to reply a support message under transaction data-> Overview tab -> reply it is showing only one line for them , due to which they are unable to enter the complete data in it.
    How ever We have found that this does not occur with 17 inc monitors as the required screen resoution 1280* 1024 is possible due to bigger size of the monitor.
    can any one suggest how to make the overview tab visible completely with small resolution monitors.
    Thanks

  • Is there any way to change the screen resolution in Front Row?

    Hi all,
    I've got a Mac Mini plugged in to my TV, and I want to be able to change the screen resolution depending on the content I'm watching (as some content is in 4:3 aspect ratio, some is in 16:9, and I'd prefer to have the picture filling the screen completely). Unfortunately, the TV doesn't have a "stretch" mode for making an 4:3 picture fit a 16:9 aspect ratio. If I know what I want to watch in advance, I can set the resolution accordingly using system prefs on the mac, but if I'm just sitting back choosing what to watch with the Apple Remote, it's annoying to have to leave front row, walk over to the computer and change resolution once I've decided what to watch, open system prefs, change resolution, re-launch Front Row and find what I wanted to watch again.
    So I was wondering if anyone had figured a way to allow the screen resolution to be switched from within the FrontRow UI. I've seen that people have written python based plug-ins such as PyeTV and Understudy that allow different types of content to be added to FrontRow, but I've not found any utility plug-ins such as what I'm looking for on the net (nor could I find SDK documentation on this API in the stuff that comes with XCode).
    I guess the other approach might be quick keys: has anyone had any success hooking up quick keys macros alongside front row in response to apple remote events? (seems too few events to be able to choose from, but I've never tried it, so I won't assume!) Or how about is there a way to trigger an AppleScript from within Front Row? And, of course, I'm very open to any other ideas you might have!
    Thanks very much in advance for any ideas on this.

  • Yoga 2 Pro REAL Screen Resolution

    SECOND THREAD on this HERE.
    I've just discovered that the Yoga 2 Pro seems to be fudging its screen resolution claim. I wouldn't care, except ... it actually has become a small problem ... and one that I presume will get bigger over time
    The Y2P has a "3200x1800" screen. It's beautiful. And in most regards its also overkill, since there's no such thing as 3200x1800 content, AND because it cause some issues with size of things on the screen. For this reason, and because pushing fewer pixels will tend to improve battery life, I run my Y2P at 1920x1080, or "normal full HD" resolution.
    I recently tried to log into an on-line app I use, as was greeted with a strange error message:
    Well, since I'm running 1920x1080 and using a current version of the Chrome browswer, none of that made sense. I tried Internet Explorer as well ... no luck.
    I installed Speccy, a tool to check things out inside a computer, and when I got to the display settings, here's what I found:
    That's right; I'm "set to 1920x1080", but something is seeing that the REAL resolution is 1280x720. Oh, and elsewhere in Speccy I found that the Y2P is reporting itself as a tablet rather than as a computer ... which probably isn't the issue here, but still unsettling.
    So I changed the resolution to 3200x1800. Good news: I was able to get to the web app I need. BAD NEWS: The real resolution appears to be 1600x900:
    I called Lnove tech support and got a representative who tells me that this is a Windows 8.1 problem; Windows 8.1 cannot support resolutions higher than 1920x1080, so even though the actual hardware resolution of the Y2P is 3200x1800, it needs to scale itself so Windows doesn't cry. This appears to be false (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2012/03/21/scaling-to-different-screens.aspx), but I don't really know.
    As such, my conclusion is that the representative told me something that was actually the opposite of correct, with correct SEEMING to be that the maximum REAL resolution of the Y2P hardware is in fact 1600x900, with Lenovo's claim of a 3200x1800 resolution being a software/upscaling/interpolation trick.
    If that's so, it's really distressing, because it would appear to be a lie about hardware capabilities.
    I didn't start out caring about that, although obviously as this point I feel like I've uncovered a smoking gun and would like an answer from Lenovo. But at the end of the day, since I don't need or want that 3200x1800 for the reasons I explained at the top of this post, I just want to know the truth—whatever it is— and to know how to get Windows to report the same resolution to "the world" that it's reporting to me, the user.
    And I guess I wouldn't mind knowing why the scaling between real and interpolation is different depending on the settings one selects, too (do the math).
    Anyone know anything conclusive? And even better, anyone from Lenovo have an ideas what the truth is here?

    I don't know if any of these settings (resolution and/or item sizing) affects battery duration. But you could do a battery test: set it to one mode with full battery charge and then leave it on unused until the battery is 50%. Check how long that took. Repeat for the other mode and compare the time difference if any.
    As to why there are these two layers of settings I think this is the answer: Windows metro apps and some Windows desktop application and the new elements in Windows 8 (the new start screen, the charms bar and all metro apps) have smart scaling of user interface elements (text, buttons and so on) designed to support very high resolution screens like ours. So buttons and text in such programs will adapt in size to fit the resolution. But older desktop applications, including the Windows 8.1 desktop taskbar and its icons it seems, does not do such smart scaling. So running them full resolution mean that everything is really tiny. To work around that everything can be scaled up to 200% (or 150% or 125%). I suspect that future versions of Windows or some Windows update may improve these things since the settings and the button descriptions in the settings aren't very user friendly.
    But I'm not sure about this. I hope someone in the know jumps in this thread and gives more details.
    It is a pity that Lenovo doesn't provide new Yoga 2 Pro users with a user friendly guide with information and tips on good ways to deal with resolutions and these scaling settings.

  • What went wrong? (swing-mdi-screen resolution)

    Hello,
    I have completed my java application which I relied heavily on swing components and awt lay out managers. It is an MDI and I had developed it using border/flow/grid layout managers under a 1024*768 resolution.
    Today I ran it on a different machine that has 800*600 resolution and I was very sorry to see that the JFrame components such as buttons, textboxes don't fit in one window.(You just cant see some of the components) Did I do something wrong that caused this problem? Otherwise is this expected behaviour? However the main window's size fits the screen size. So the components should have displayed smaller to fit in the screen, but that is not the case now. What to do now?
    I appreciate your help&feedback on this.

    Thanks KPSeal,
    Here is the method that builds one of the JInternalFrame's. It may be abit confusing since it is complex. Unfortunately I won't have time to fix it since I have to return the project today. Better not to tell about the resolution issue to my professor ;) This method is a small fraction of my thesis. Looks just fine with 1024*768. Very very bad with 800*600

  • Screen resolution in 10G and converison from 6i

    Scenario is something like this:
    We are converting forms from 6i to 10G.
    We have designed forms in 6i for 1024x768 screen resolution. We don't have any issues in 6i for screen resolution of 1024x768.
    We converted the form to 10G. Screen resolution is still 1024x768 in 10G. We are using separateFrame=true in formsweb.cfg to make sure we don't show the Applet in browser window. separateFrame=true opens the application in new window and this new window can use entire screen resolution.
    Applet in new window is bigger than the screen resolution and we see scroll bars in main window when we open a child window. Obviously the applet is showing bigger footprint than client server form.
    Why is this so? Is there a way to fix this?

    If you will bring up a client-server form and a Web separate-frame form and compare them side-by-side, you can easily see the difference.
    The height and width of the actual space used by the form is identical. In fact, in my comparison, both window widths are exactly the same number of pixels. I used snagit to compare the sizes.
    However, if you compare the heights, you will see the difference. The web forms window has three bands above the actual Form canvas:
    1. The main window bar with the java icon on the left, window title, and the three windows icons for minimize, maximize and close.
    2. The pull-down menu choices on the left and the "Oracle" logo on the right. (Look-and-feel generic removes the Oracle logo, I believe.)
    3. The Window0 bar, blank except an icon on the left (right click shows Restore, Move, Size,... CLose) and an icon on the right, which clicking causes the inside window to maximize or restore.
    The Client/Server window has two bands:
    1. Main window bar, similar to 1 above, except the icon on the left is a Forms icon instead of java.
    2. Combination of 2 and 3 above: Contains both the icons in 3 above plus the pull-down menu choices. It is also about 8 pixels shorter than the web forms bar 2.
    In addition, comparing the bar with the message and status lines at the bottom of both versions, you can see that the web forms bar is about 9 more pixels higher.
    It is possible to position the Window0 at a y_pos of about -20 to regain some of the lost height (this causes the third bar described above to be hidden behind the second). But you cannot get all the height back, because of the additional height taken by Web Forms for the second bar and the bottom area.
    So what is left is to reduce the height of the canvas area used by your forms by about 20 pixels.
    I believe these heights are determined by the java runtime used by web forms rather than Oracle, so there is nothing Oracle can do about it.

  • Screen resolution in my 18 All-in-one PC

    Screen appears stretched with the result diagrams like circles look like ovals. I am using Windows 7. I tried to adjust the screen resolution but I am given only 3 options none of which solves my problem. How should I adjust? Please help.

    Hello @sundararaj_2000,
    Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
    I understand that your screen resolution is not what it should be and you do not have the options to correct it properly. I suspece that you do not have the correct drivers installed for your graphics card or they are corrupted. To ensure that you have the correct drivers isntalled please follow the steps below:
    First we need to determine what your product number is. You can do this by following the HP Support document that pertains to your computer type
    Notebook - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    All-In-One - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Desktop - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Once you have your product number you can use it at HP's Drivers & Downloads page. You should see your computer listed click on it and you will be brought to your computer's drivers page. Select your operating system from the drop-down box. If you are unsure as to what operating system you are running or what version it is you  can use Which Windows operating system am I running? to determine what your operating system is and Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit? to determine what version the operating system is. Once you have your operating system selected click 'Next' and scroll down you will see Driver - Graphics. Click on Driver - Graphics and you will see your Graphics driver. Download and save it to your Desktop or a location you will remember on your computer.
    Now that you have your wireless driver downloaded follow the instructions I have set out below:
    Step 1. At the Tiles Menu type "device manager"
    Step 2. Click on Device Manager
    Step 3. Click on Display Adapters
    Step 4. Right-click on your Display Adapter and select Uninstall
    ***Ensure you delete the driver when the option is presented
    Step 5. Go to the graphics drivers you downloaded earlier and install them
    Step 6. Restart your computer
    ***Now try to adjust your screen resolution.
    Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Screen resolution in all the programs is really low.

    I recently bought CS6 and the screen resolution in all the programs is extremely low.  The tools and the content of the documents.  I have checked the preferences and I don't see a problem or an option to increase the quality.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

    If this is a retina Mac there is nothing you can do about it. CS6 is not optimized for retina.
    If that’s not what you’re talking about we’ll need some real details.
