About "Spin"

In the HUD, why are the 2 rounded arrows in the center missing in the Basic Motion "Spin" Behavior? The outer circle appears, but the center is black, not allowing access to the rotation axis.
At the same time, whenever I add the Spin behavior to something,it moves the canvas over so I have to scroll to it and it makes is look like it's zoomed in 400% or so even when I select 100%.
Trash the preferences,reinstall don't work.
I need your help.

Hi, I only have one graphic card, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, so the problem is because of my low power graphic card? Forgive me, please teach me how to plug two monitors?
Thanks a lot
We can no know if your card is the cause until you try using a different card. With me, the same problem was solved by using only one radeon 4870 card with two monitors.
Try searching the apple forums for the card:

  • Question about spinning ball issues and OS reinstall.

I have a late 2008 white MacBook running Lion.  A while back I was having problems with the spinning beach ball appearing anytime I tried to change between apps or websites.  I had tried the command+r on bootup, terminal, passwordreset tip to repair the permissions and ACLs.  It fixed the issue for a day or two, but that is all.  I ended up making the decision to back up my information and reinstall the software.  Somehow after the reinstall when I went to restore my data I ended up with two separate user accounts (one was the backup).  It really is a pain in the butt to have to switch back and forth between accounts when I need to look for an old file.
Anyway, I am having the same problem again.  I never had an issue with my MacBook until I installed Lion.  I've gone into the boot menu twice so far today to repair the permissions and ACLs and now I need to do it again.  I want to try another OS reinstall, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to merge the two user accounts first so that I don't end up with two or three accounts after everything is said and done.  I've tried to figure it out myself, but I've not had much luck.

Yeah, I've used the repair utility in the recovery menu.  Sometimes when I repair the disk and run it a couple of times I find that the second time there will be even more errors than before.
That sounds like your doing repair permissions. There are certain permissions that will always show when you repair permissions, and are not an error. See this Apple note listing them.
A repair disk, which is different than repairing permissions, should not yield any error messages. If it does, you have an issue(s) that needs to be fixed. You should go back and do a repair disk. It should give you some statistics then tell you everything is OK, or give you error message(s).
Part of your spinning beach ball problem may be your 2GB of memory. Consider upgrading using either OWC or Crucial memory, both which work well in macs.  A 4GB upgrade (2 x 2GB) can run $20 to $60.

  • Spinning wait cursor and HDD failing

I got spinning wait cursor sometimes since a month ago. When the first time I check disk utility SMART status was ok. Yesterday SMART status was failing and it said I have hardware problem can't be repaired. Apple charged me 177 plus tax for replace HDD.
My question is what is the cause? Failing HDD causes of spinning ball or spinning ball causes of hdd failing( because I had to hold power button to shutdown when its freezing).
Do I need to ask Genius bar  about spinning ball or replace HDD gonna fix that problem?
Any idea to avoid of HDD failing?
Sorry for my bad English. Thank you!!!

The failing hard drive caused the 'spinning cursor' (beachballing).
You should have no problems with a new HD.

  • Labels on GUI question

Hi, I want to put labels on a GUI that basically continually shows values of various parameters which change regularly. What would be the best way of doing this? I was thinking of just using a thread and putting a loop that continually gets the value of the parameter until the program stops, but how do you actually change what is printed on the label?
    Thanks!

Hmmm... setText is one thing, but what's this about spinning off a thread to poll parameter values?
If you want to decouple the code that changes the parameter values from the code
that notices those values have changed and reacts by changing label text, then

  • Logic Pro X 10010 error - Disk too slow

    Hey,
I installed the most recent OSX update and now Logic Pro X is giving me the 10010 error quite often. This didn't happen much at all before installing that OSX update. Highly annoying and gets in the way of my workflow. Here's my set up:
    OSX 10.9.4
    32 gigs of DDR3 RAM
    Logic Pro X 10.0.7
    SDD 1 - OS (400 gigs free)
HDD 1 - Project files (635 gigs free)
    HDD 2 - Samples/SFX Source (1.04 TB free)
    HDD 3 - Samples/SFX Source (1.09 TB free)
MOTU - up to date with the latest drivers as well
    I/O Buffer size: 512 samples
    Process Buffer Range: Medium
Everything was running super smooth for a long time before updating my OS. This error happens when I'm running Logic sessions of only audio, or only samples and doesn't seem to matter which drive I'm referencing. It happens when I'm working to video and when I'm not. Other DAWs, such as Reason, don't seem to have this issue at all and their samples (or refills) are located on the same HDDs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you guys need any additional info - just ask.
    Thanks,
    Nate

Let me preface this by saying I'm no kind of expert, so protect yourself accordingly.
I have been having the same problem. It appears that the new update, as part of its energy/battery life savings, is more aggressive about  spinning down and parking the hard drive. I haven't timed the interval, but my sense is about 5 minutes. I've developed the habit of, after any pause more than a couple of minutes, clicking on "Play," watching the beach ball for a few seconds while the drive spins back up, and then when the playback head starts to move, you're good to go. I've not gotten the error in any situation without the pause.
    Good luck.

  • LP Audio to Imac G5 format

I am trying to convert my LP albums to my Imac G5. Does anyone know of a simple and easy way that this can be accomplished? Please help - open to any and all suggestions.

I've been doing this for sometime now. Look at http://www.griffintechnology.com/ they have a device called Imic that will let you attach your stereo thru the usb. they also have free software to capture the music called Final Vinyl. by the way to clean up the sound sound doctor works but another program Bias Soap works better (in my opinion).
The only thing that I like about Spin doctor is that it lets you find and name each of the tracks. when you send it to toast the tracks are then named.
If you plan to put them into itunes just drag them from spin doctor to the desktop and then to itunes (wish this could be done as a single step but oh well)

  • CUCM Group Design

    Hi Everyone
My manager came to me and asked me about how do I  have the CUCM Groups configured and I told me that we have our Sub in Dallas First our Sub in Houston second and then our Pub in Dallas as the third option. He asked me what did I think about spinning up another VM and taking the Pub out of the group all together. At my last employer we had the Pub as the third option and I just wanted to know your opinions on what is the best way to configure the groups.
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
Generally a couple of callmanagers would be sufficient in a callmanager group, but there can be some exceptional circumstances where the first two callmanagers in the CM group are down or not reachable and that extra callmanager in the CM group comes to the rescue. Having the callmanagers in geographically distinct locations helps in preventing such situations where all callmanagers in a CM group are not reachable. I would like to add that adding the third extra callmanager in the CM group also has impact on features like Non-GK controlled ICT configuration.

    Hi rhaughan,
I see that you have concerns about your operating temperature of your computer while using resource-heavy applications such as gaming applications. I have an article that will address some of the concerns you have mentioned:
Mac notebooks: Operating temperature - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT201640
While there are third-party utilities that measure the temperature of a notebook computer, it is important to understand that these utilities are not measuring the external case temperature. The actual case temperature is much lower. Never use third-party applications to diagnose possible hardware issues—instead, contact Apple or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
You should also see this article for even further information about your fans:
Learn about the fans in your Mac - Apple Support

  • I have an iMac that won't boot up.  I've read all posts on this subject to no avail.  When power is switched on, it chimes, Apple logo appears, spinning wheel, then loading bar starts to fill.  It gets to about 25% then switches off! Help please!

iMac that won't boot up!   When power is switched on it chimes, Apple logo appears, then loading bar, then spinning wheel.  Bar seems to load up and gets to around 25%, then reverts to the start again, gets to about 20% on the bar and then switches itself off leaving a black screen.  Tried all the remedies on internet with no avail so would welcome some advice other than binning what is a relatively new computer.  Earliest appointment Apple could offer was Thursday 17th, really useful for a business user _ not impressed,

You've probably tried this, but will it Safe Boot? Restart holding down the Shift key until you see the grey progress bar. You'll need to input your admin password during bootup. If it will boot you can then try to eject the disk using the various suggestions here that you haven't tried already:

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

    Hi,
    Please try resetting preferences?
On Windows: Goto %appdata%\Adobe\Elements Organizer\12.0\Organizer folder and rename the files “psa.prf” (to say psa_old.prf) and “status.dat” (to say status_old.dat).
Try launching Organizer and see if it launches fine.

  • Imac Spinning Beach Ball after about 3 minutes of operation.

I get the spinning beach ball (SBBOD) after a few minutes of operation. The hard drive is indexing as well.  I tried booting the computer in Safe Mode and I get NO beach ball and the computer seems to be perfectly fine.  I recently upgraded my hard drive about 6 months ago.  I am not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.  I also tried running the hardware test, but I downloaded lion via the App Store and pressing "D" at boot up doesn't do anything.  I am about ready to erase my hard drive and try to re-install my info from time machine.  Unfortunately, I haven't done a back up in quite a while.  Any suggestions?

SBBOD can be caused by many things. I'd recommend reading XLab's
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/sbbod.html
article, it's about the best article on troubleshooting what is causing your specific problem.

Have you tried logging out of your CC desktop app, then logging back in again? Quit/Restart won't work, but logging out and back in should. See here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

  • Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally?

I hope I'm submitting this properly, I apologize if this irritates anyone because of improper etiquette. Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally? This is a condition which seemed to start just recently and abruptly. These applications reside on, and are launched from the startup drive, not from a network drive. Also, we have a NAS drive on the LAN that we connect to that also takes a minute or two to mount, when it used to (before this problem) mount on the desktop in a matter of about 5 seconds. We have three identical Mac Pros on the LAN, and they all have this problem when launching and using the above mentioned applications. When I physically unplug the network cable from the Mac, all applications launch instantly and function normally. I know very little about networks, so I can't begin to test or change any setting pertaining to our network - if that is where the problem lies. The only recent change to our network situation is that we lost or our internet and phone service due to massive flooding here in Minot, North Dakota (our ISP tells us the communication lines are under water and shorting out). But shouldn't our LAN still function even though we have lost our connection to the outside world? Thanks so much, in advance, for helping me solve this problem. Sheldon.

    Hi there.
A slow LAN can have many things so its going slow.
    1) is your lan 1gbit speed? (full duplex)
    2) are the macs also 1Gbit speed? (full duplex)
    3) does your nas has a firewall? (so you can see what the mac asking there)
    4) on the macs is the firewall on? (does the programms can pass the fw?)
    5) how big is the nas and how many files/dirctorys are on the nas? (big folders speeds down )
many questions, but sometimes there is a solution.
    regards tim
