About templates in smartforms

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me what is the difference between templats and table in smartforms.

Hi,
Tables are dynamic in nature and grow depending on the data in the table. Where as templete is static in nature.
If you use the table in the Main window and data exceeds the main window then new page will be triggered where as if you the template the data will not flow into next if data is not fit in one page.

Template in smartforms is static.
for example when you want to give heading for your table output , you can use templates..
MATNR WERKS    -
> this is a template
1000       nl09        ---> this is a table.
1001    nl09
Both the Templates and Tables can be used for printing texts or application data in tabular format in Smartforms.
Templates: Templates are used in layouts when the number of rows are known and fixed.
Tables: Tables are used to print dynamic data, where the number of rows cannot be determined in advance.

Create Columns in Template using Smartforms

Hi Guyz,
Im using Template in smartforms and create 2 or more columns..but the columns must be in horizontal order like this :
COMPANY DEPT BASIC
but the column appeared vertical like this :
COMPANY
DEPT
BASIC
Another question is what is the purpose of From & To, Reference column in Details/Table Painter
Please give me some advice..what to do..

The column generally apperds vertical in the screen but in the output it will be displayed in horizontal order.

Horizontal Text In Template using Smartforms

Hi Friendz,
Im having a problem in Template using smartforms. Actually, I need a Header Caption for this with a format :
COMPANY      DEPT      BASIC
so i created a text for this...
but once i viewed the report ,the output display is in the format :
COMPANY
DEPT
BASIC
Kindly help me with my problem...output must be in a one line with 3 columns.
What is the purpose of append directly,new line and new paragraph in properties of Text.Is there any technik for this text?

Hi,
usually the proceddure is we have to divide the template into three parts
now create three text elements
and in each text give
company
dept
basic
now go to output options and
in the bottom of it output structure will be there
in that line 1
column   1 for first one
line 1 column2 for second one
and try to give the styles form attributes
output options tab
style    zstyle

How to Merge Cells in Template in Smartform??

    Can somebody pls tell me how to merge cells vertically in to single cell in a Template in Smartforms..

Hi Rushikesh,
SAP does not directly provide option of merging the cells intemplate...Check out following
to do the needful.
1. Double click on the template node and go to table painter.
2. say you want to merge two cells C1 & C2
3. Click on the pencil icon above table painter to get plus type cursor now click on
   any cell from C1 or C2. The cell turns black indicating the selction .
4. Right click -> Delete -> Cell. C1 is deleted.
5. Again click on the pencil icon to get back the arrow cursor.
6. Now take pointer on the boundary of cell C2. You the icon changes indicating
    the cell boundary can adjusted as per req. Do the necessary adjustment .
7. Save and activating.

Hai All,
I want to know what the use of templates in smartform, and difference between table and templates. I know template is static and table is dynamic but i wnat more details.
Why sap brings template in smartform?

Hi Alexander,
when you define a table, in fact you define row type.
After that, you use a row type with data.
when you define a template, you have the whole struture in statitc.
Example: imagine you have items, but for some item, you would like to print text. The row type will be different, you don't know the size (number of line) of your text. So you can only use the table.

Hi ,
You have to assign text node to that and cell,
and in that node , click on output options tab.
at the bottom you will find output structure options.
There you assign line and column number of that perticular node,

Template :
1. No of rows & coloumns are fixed.
2. u can directly mention, which data has to be fill in which row & coloumn.
3. Templates are used, where u r having static no of data.
( ex : Name, rollno, age, ***)
4. No header & footer
Table :
1. No of cols are fixed, u can have 'n' no of rows.
2. it has header & footer concept
A table is meant to be used to display dynamic number of lines (eg. invoice line items), whereas a template is for fixed number of column and lines (labels).

A doubt about template option

I have questions about template options in indesign.
1. What is the use of saving the document as indesign template?
2. How can we use the option "document from template" in "new" menu? i.e the purpose of the option.
3. If i had created a .indd document using a template, when i change the styles in template, will it be updated in the documents, where i have used the template.
Please clear my doubts.

1. As Bob said. There is one other feature of templates, though, that might make them worth considering (I just learned this the other day, myself, by reading the manual...), templates save thumbnails of all pages, documents only save a thumbnail of page one. Aside from that, they are the same except for default opening behavior (templates open an untitled copy, documents open as original), and you can convert from one to the other by changing the file extension (but you'll only have the thumbnails you started with).
2. The new from template selection sends you to the pre-defined sample templates that shipped with the program, though you can navigate to where you've store your own. Easier, though, just to do File > Open ... and choose the template.

How to increase height of the row in template in smartforms

dear friends,
i have developed a smartform with template. i have 7 no of paragraphs in that.
my problem is,
i want to give equal row heights for 3 paragraphs and different heights for other 4 paragraphs as per the text of those paragraphs depends
how can i do this
it s urgent. help me. (don't suggest me manual dragging)

DEar Saathi,
1. In the left pane, When u db.click on the template,
in the right pane, a tab strip will be displayed, in that select the tab Template..
2. When u create each column, there try by giving LN instead of MM/CM/inches
after checking tel me if it works or not..

Use of table and template in Smartform

Hi,
I need an output in the smartform as shown below in the form of a table. I have tried doing this only with the use of template(create->Template) but I am not able to print the heading using text elements one after another. Only the first cell is getting populated with the heading.
I assume this can be accomplished with a template as well as a table.
Can anyone please let me know how this can be done?
Any help would be appreciated.

template is 4 , when u know , how many rows u want , u can use.
If u dnt know then use Table .
Now when u creat text element u have to assign row number ,
and colomn number .
for that click on text element go to ouput option.
then only it will display in perticular row/col.
if u didnt assign , default it will come in 1st row nd col.

Need Information about templates provided by SAP to Lumira

If i'm not mistaken, you asked the same question via the support inbox? To re-iterate again:
At time of writing there is no ‘pre-built’ business content within Lumira.
This is because it is positioned as being a ‘free form’ self-service data-discovery & visualisation
tool, so “time to value” is very quick, and authored content can often be perceived as ‘scratch and burn’ . (apart from published/shared infographic stories)
Yes, there are some samples in-built into the application for evaluation purposes.
And the Cloud/Server solutions also have “Did you Know” and “Auto Discovery”
features which generate visual content ‘on the fly’.
Finally, there are some ‘Rapid Deployment Solutions’ (which are bundled ERP solutions for specific market industries), and I believe they do deliver some templates for content, but it would be specific to that enterprise license.

Query regarding templates in smartforms

Hi friends,
In my smartforms, I have used templates to display tabular data and i have defined line no. and column no. under text elements.Now, the data that is coming in the output is repetitive that is its not looping the table although i have used an external LOOP and defined my table and work area in it.
Could anybody help me in making the loop part work?
I will certainly reward points for the desired answer.

If you have already set the internal table and the work area, i believe, it just the proper sequence of the node that get something wrong.
Moreover, place the Loop node , the Program Line node and the template node inside the main window....
The template node must be under the Loop node. See below, the proper sequence....
MAIN window
      PROGRAM LINE NODE -->place your select statements here...
      LOOP NODE --> on the data tab, define your Internal table and workarea
           TEMPLATE NODE --> place this node, under the loop node
                text node -->this is the first column.      Place here the field names. ex.: &wa-fieldname1&
                text node -->this is the second column Place here the field names. ex.: &wa-fieldname2&
                text node -->this is the third column      Place here the field names. ex.: &wa-fieldname3&
                text node -->this is the fourth column    Place here the field names. ex.: &wa-fieldname4&
After which, run your form...

The email content can be HTML content. We dont' restrict what goes in the HTML content and hence you can inline the css or refer to a hosted CSS (absolute path). There are no sample templates or style sheets shipped with the product.
