About the extended desktop on the Intel iMac?

Hi I was looking into getting the 17" Intel iMac, but after looking at the 20" G5 iMac, I think I want the 20" Intel iMac. I wanted to know what size external display can you use with the 17" & 20" Intel iMac as a extended desktop? I was told the reason that I only can use up to 20" external display with my 12" PowerBook was the graphics card in it. I think you can get 128 MB and 256 MB with a Intel iMac? what size display can I use with this type of card?
I want to put a 23" or a 26" LCD TV on the 20" Intel iMac if you can? Hoping to use a 26", but 23" is OK too.

I have one more question to ask? If I use the LCD TV like Sony or Samsung with the New i-Mac will I loose deskspace on the LCD TV due to the low resolution on the LCD TV? I thought the LCD TV was a good idea since it has all the input for all my DVD player, TV box?, Nintendo, and the VHS?, but I was told that LCD TV might not be too compatible for use with a computer.
How do I put all my stuff on a Apple 23" LCD display I only can find adapters that can only take one peripheral at a time, and I don't want to re plug a TV box each time I want to watch TV. It looks like I need a box for use with Apple display with 3~4 input and S video, and HDMI input for the HD stuff?

I just replaced the power supply in my Intel imac and now the screen is really really dark and I see the missing folder icon, what do I do?

The power supply in my Intel iMac went out (and smelled pretty burned) so I replced it and now when I start it up the display is so dark I can hardly see it and it shows the missing folder icon. Is it the inverter? Or if shine a flashlight on it and re-install the OS will changing the display settings maybe fix it?

Thanks for ur quick reply to my problem. I tried all of that with no results... I did notice tho that the lights next to and above my caps lock key and my num lk key are now flashing. They flash in unison three times then there is a two second pause then they flash three more times and this repeats. They may have been doing this before I tried this solution but I did not take notice until now... I was also wondering how I am supposed to know, after pressing f10 to enter bios, how I can tell if my new drive is being detected when my monitor will not function? Was pressing f10 supposed to possibly make the monitor turn on? In a last ditch effort to try and further identify the problem, I re installed my old drive. Before replacing it my computer would begin to boot then display a hard error that would not allow me to continue booting and run Windows. My display would still work but I could not run Windows. After re installing the drive the monitor will not turn on. I'm beginning to think that I have a bad monitor. Is there a way of testing this with out buying one? Where does the monitor connect to the mother board? I wonder if maybe its been jarred loose, although I highly doubt it, it may still be worth looking at. Thanks again for your advice.

I think it wants to see a previous version in my pc because my serial is for an upgrade, but when it put in a serial# for version cs5 it still wont except. Do you think i have to install cs5 first (which is also an upgrade).. which will require that I put in version cs4 etc,.etc., etc.

When is the extended battery for the phone going to be available again?

Seriously, yesterday I found myself going from Verizon Store to Verizon Store looking for the extended battery for the trophy in my area because it has been sold out on this site for at least a month, if not more, as I've started to become dissatisfied lately with the battery life on my trophy (I've been using it more lately because there are a lot more apps available now then there were at launch). I had no luck, and as HTC doesn't seem to stock parts for the US Trophy on their web store, nor does amazon or anyone else (There aren't even any official ones on eBay right now) and I don't trust 3rd party batteries (I had a horrible experience with a 3rd party battery bought for an old blackberry on eBay this one time), is the Extended Battery EVER going to be in stock again? Whether or not this behavior occurs depends upon various preference settings and upon how you try to access the application in question. Personally, I like to organize my desktops according to project, so I regularly have windows from the same application spread out over several desktops. No problem.
For example, I have a Safari window in Desktop 1 and I want a Safari window in desktop 2. If, while in desktop 2, I bring Safari to the front by clicking on the Dock icon, I can open a new window in the usual ways. I could also just control-click on the Safari icon in the dock to get a new window in desktop 2.
(The only application that is a little weird in this regard is Finder. You have to do the control-click on it or it will always switch to a space with a window open.)
To make all this occur, I have Safari assigned to no desktops (control-click on Safari icon, then on Options) and in Mission Control preferences (in System Preferences) I have "When switching to an application..." UNchecked.
(Note that, with these settings, if an application is already in front and you click on its icon - or click twice on the icon if the applcation is not in front - the OS will assume you are looking for another open window and will switch spaces to give you one.)

How do I remove the stand from my 24' intel imac model ( A1225)

Hello, I am moving my imac 24' from Europe to the states in my baggage. The stand mustbe removed to fit it in. Some models allow a business card or credit card to insert in the lever of the stand and the back of the imac housing where the stand is attached to. Thus oin pulling the stand levekl down with the acard inserted you will see a few srerws to unscrew to removing the stand. This is not with this imac 24' intel model number (A1225)
Are there any tips or help that one knows to removing the stand?

I recently inherited a 2007 24" iMac that had been VESA mounted. I searched all the online boards to figure out how to remove the VESA bracket and install the aluminum stand that I bought on Ebay. Despite 6 years since the iMac was made, I really didn't feel the online posts gave a clear answer, so I felt compelled to give my input.
First, the 'latch' mechanism that locks and unlocks the stand/VESA mount is RIGHT next to the top of the slot -- it's about 1/16" into the casing and shaped like a shallow L-shaped ledge that extends most of the length of the slot. Here's a very effective way to hit it:
* uninstalling stand; put the computer on a bed at the edge; push the stand downward, somewhat hard, then slip a business card into the top of the slot,slanted 45 degrees upward. do not push the business card hard at all. it will hit the ledge/lever quickly. leave it there. now, insert a drivers license or credit card ON TOP of the business card, so it hits same ledge/lever but with more strength. push a bit and start wiggling the stand. the latch will release and you can now push the stand down to lock in the extended position, then remove the screws, install the VESA
* uninstalling VESA: the stand mechanism is already in the LOCKED/out position. I spent about an hour trying to get it to lock into the extended position. wrong. it's already extended. once you remove the VESA, install your stand, then follow the above guidance to unlock that mechanism and get your computer back upright.
There are a lot of threads on this topic. I hope this helps some. My main insights are two; 1) the latch/ledge is very close to the top of the slot, and 2) that ledge can be caught fairly easily by pushing the stand down and using a flexible cardboard business card, then superimposing a harder plastic card on top while you wiggle the stand.

Dual displays ("extended desktop") on the iBook

This is in response to a previous query that was strangely archived despite the original poster receiving no definitive answer.
The iBook G4 (and various other iBooks) does not support "spanning" dual displays (I believe Apple calls this feature "extended desktop") with Leopard. Evidence of this is the missing "Arrangement" tab in the Display system preference pane.
The Tiger version of Spanning Screen Doctor (http://www.rutemoeller.com/mp/ibook/ibook_e.html) does, indeed, work correctly on an iBook G4 running 10.5.4. After rebooting, the "Arrangement" tab will now appear in the Display pane.
Hopefully this saves some iBook users some time and effort in resolving this issue.

Not able to see the extended Vo evenif the JPXimport imported correctly.

I am in the process of customising the Sales Dashboard page in Sales user respopnsibility in R12.1.3 instance.
I configured the correct setup for JDev also by downloading the patch p9879989_R12_GENERIC.
Now I have requirement that I need to add one column by personalization to advance table.
But this new column doesn't exists to my VO CustomerAccessesVO so I need to extend it.
I extended this VO and created subtitute and imported to database by JPXImporter.
After importing I run the query jdr_utils.printdocument('/oracle/apps/asn/common/customer/server/customizations/site/0/CustomerAccessesVO'); which gives me output <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

As while extending Jdev generated only impl.java rowimpl.java, server.xml and Vo.xml. But the Rowimpl.java generated Empty.
But this error comes once only second time this error doesn't come.
And when I click on about this page link I am not able to find my new extended VO i.e. XXCustomerAccessesVO.
Now when I am trying to persomalize the table and adding new column It is niether giving me error nor displaying the new collumn.
So can any one help on below three points:
1) Why Rowimpl generated empty? Is is generating empty that why while compiling .class file is not generating that why I am getting error.

--> Rowimpl should not generate empty. It should generate same as the standard VO's VORowImpl. You can go to JDeveloper and try checking and unchecking Generate Java Files.
eg.
While extension if you have not checked Generate Java File inside VO --> Edit --> Java
it would point to standard VOImpl and VORowImpl of VO which you extended.

I have purchased a new laptop and want to move my itunes music and maintain my playlists from the old desktop to the new laptop.

An additional complication is that on the old desktop I have music in 2 locations, both on C: drive and F: drive that I would like to combine all to one location now and still maintain my playlists.
I may need to do this first on the old desktop before moving to new laptop. Either way is ok.
Does anyone provide documentation on how to do this is highly appreciated?

How to handle the extended vo in the extended controller

Hi,
I want to know how to handle the extended vo attributes in the extended controller.
I extended CompetenceElementsVO as 'CompetenceElementsEx' with 2 transient attributes called col1 and col2.
Here i want to pass value according based on some condition. for this i want to know how to handle these attributes.
I tried by using the extended vo name in the controller, if i use means then it is throwing error after the extended controller is implemented.
Same time if i try to refer this attributes from the original vo definition, jdev itself showing error.
please tell me how to handle this?

Hi San,
You have to extend the controller where your region is associated with,
And in that controller you get the AM(if there is more than one AM and your VO is associated with a child AM, first you have to get your required AM) and then
get the ViewObject(standard).
Then you should be able to get your newly added attributes.
Please find the below sample code to get the AM handle and VO from there, update the code according to your requirement,

I've a iMac with broken display that i can used by external monitor, but... this display shows only background image (no menus, no finder icons). How can turn the display options from System preferences without acces it?

CMD F1 is the shortcut to toggle between Mirror and extended.

Trying to upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard but it will not let me purchase the upgrade telling me my intel imac is not compatible?

I have a fully functioning imac running snow leopard fine (recently upgraded to it) because of flash and java issues on browsers seemed I needed to get on to Lion or Mountain Lion so I upgraded the RAM to 2.5GB and now it will not let me upgrade maybe because my model seems to be a late 2006 and not a 2007 imac, cannot understand why it will not let me do this or provide a solution for me to upgrade what I need? Can anybody help, assist or advise?
