About the required Field in XDD

Hi All,
I am getting one issue, like even in XML input as "son of" im getting the print like "Son Of". How these lower case letters or converting to Upper case?
I have cheked the field level properties and XDD. I got only one difference i.e in XDD required filed is given as "Host". Is this issue because of this? And please explain the role of Required filed.

I do not think that the issue which you are facing is because of "REQUIRED = HOST".
what rule are you using for the field? is there any mask set? In general Move_it rule with mask "F" converts to sentence style where the first character is capitalized and the remaining characters are lowercased.
What actually a Required option in XDD does is explained below.
Not - Not required at print time. Missing data does not result in an error message.*
Host - Required from a source data file during a batch run. Missing data results in an error message and the document kicks to the error batch. (kind of mandatory option in Batch processing)*
Operator - Required as a manual entry in the WIP module. Missing data results in a warning message and the document is kicked to WIP. (Kind of mandatory field while processing in WIP)*
Either - Required as manual entry in the WIP module. The system first tries to fill the field with data from the extract file. If the data is missing, the system kicks the document to WIP and creates a warning message.*

Any method to remove the required field option in the runtime process

I've added the required actions n callable objects for the design time and when i run it in the runtime, there are actually required field that we need to fill in before the interactive form appear. Is there any way that I can remove the required field and fill in the interactive form?

Just access the total textfield and make it visible = false;

If that doesn't work try setting the left property to something that will never come into view no matter how large you make the window... Something like this

What action besides the mailto: one will work with a submit button to activate the required fields?

I have a submit button that uses the mailto: function to activate the required fields property on a pdf fillable form, but our users would prefer that the form not generate an email. Please let me know what I could replace the mailto: action with so the submit button will only activate the required fields proptery.

Whatever is running on the server does not have to be PHP, any mechanism
that can accept a HTTP request can handle your form content. You have a
choice between using the "normal" HTML forms submission format, or you can
submit a FDF or XFDF file to your server. I've used Perl, PHP, Microsoft's
.NET and good old Unix shell scripts to accept and process PDF forms
submissions.
If you don't know how to implement the server portion, you will need to
work with somebody who can do that for you. How this is best done depends
on what server system you are using, and potentially what limitations your
web hosting provider is forcing you to live with.

We have an issue where a line item amount was not selected invoice was out of balance but the agent selected accept and post. Enable the Requirements fields in Step property to recognise url links

Hi,
I think it'd be good if the Requirements property (in step properties) would be able to recognise url like http:// https:// svn:// notes:// etc.
Then we could directly link the step to the requirement system which could save a lot of hassle with changes tracking.
For now it is a plain text only.

Are you talking about the Requirements Gateway? It is a separate product from NI that will do what you are looking for. I haven't used it so I am not sure of the API chain to make it work. Take a look and see if that is what you were thinking of.

Sorry, I just re-read your original post and see that you are looking to also use the Requirements Gateway, so you obviously know about it. I don't know what the API changes were that made it work so I am not going to be much help.

In your script when you make an object visible, you also make it mandatory. No problem there!
However the script that hides the object goes through this sequence:
hide the object, THEN
make it optional/not mandatory.
This is where the problem lies.
You FIRST need to make the object optional/not mandatory AND THEN hide the object. It should just be a simple case of work through the various scripts and having the mandatory line before the presence line.

I am new for this scripting. My question is:
How to block the 'save' function when the required fields are not filled?
I designed a PDF file with some required fields and I do not want the user to save the document until all required fields are filled. My idea is to write some scripts in Willsave method like:

app.alert('You should fill the Family Name field firstly!');
But I do not think it works as finally the document is saved after all.
Please help me on that!

I am a Rocky myself and I know how though it is to establish some good codes. Since I created some forms with validation options myself I might have a code for you. The code also creates an alert box (Yes/no option) if the user chooses yes the form will be validatet, if he chooses "no" the alert window will be closed.If everything is filled out correctly the form will be saved otherwise the textbox will be higlighted and gets focus.

I'm not aware of anyway to automatically remove them from the pdf file. You can manually remove each of them but it's always better to treat the source file than to treat the PDF file for changes.
To keep from seeing them without having to remove them all in Word, just use the "print method" to create the PDF file. Print to the Adobe PDF printer rather than using the Save as Adobe PDF feature.

TYPO in the required field error message???

This is by far the weirdest thing I've ever seen. I created a form for a client with required fields. When I test it on my mac, I get the appropriate error message. When he tests it on Windows, there is a glaring TYPO in the message: "required fields" reads "required fileds" WHAT THE HECK???? Is there a way to edit that message? I always thought it was an automatic thing, but maybe I inadvertently typed it? ANY CLUES??

Did you create this form?
If so check your script.
If not contact the organization distributing the form about the error.
This looks like a user written script and not one created by Adobe.
You also have a misspelling on the content of the form.

First go to message pool under webdynpro components.
Create a new message there..of type error.
Enter your text.
Now to avoid null pointer exception , in wdDoInit(), initialise the value
wdContext.currentDateTimeElement().setDate("");
now create an action for submission of data. If field is empty, then within the button write:
msg = wdComponentAPI.getComponent().getMessageManager();
if(wdContext.currentDateTimeElement().getDate().equals(""))
