About to order X301 and dock. Have concerns

I am going to order the X301, with 128 SSD, DVD-R/W, XP, and Verizon WWAN. Plus I am adding the USB Dock. Sometimes too much research can be a bad thing. I am now having second thoughts that the system will run as advertised.
Specifically, I am concerned about the Verizon WWAN not being able to connect. I already have a Verizon wireless account, so I will need to transfer that to the X301. There were many posts about problems with this. Does anyone know if this has been fixed?
Second, I have read of all sorts of problems with the display. I will be using a HP w2207h monitor, with a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor, and am concerned about getting a quality display.
I have been a long time ThinkPad user, but strayed with my last purchase. I thought coming back to a ThinkPad would reduce the computer problems I am having with a non-ThinkPad, but am wondering if the quality of the product has slipped in the last 2 years?
Any advice on whether I should look at a different ThinkPad model, or stick with the X301 would be appreciated.

No dock, i just use the machine when i get on site in the mine, it has 3G and GPS integrated system, great little machine, but it is bit dirty due to all the dusts. In the office i have my own T61 and X60, which i brought along for this trip.

I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software. This machine is only 4 weeks old and I am using 37 g on a 1 T hard drive. There is no reason for it to be locking up. Also, when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that. I successfully used the help program on my pc lots of times. I did not need a $2000. plus machine to just get email. I just wanted to unload on somebody that might understand my pain and after checking out this site...I think there is a few of you out there.

The apps downloaded from the Mac App Store are written by third party developers, not Apple. If you have problems with those apps you need to visit the support area for their websites. Launch the App Store, locate the app name. You should see a support link.

Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.helpviewer.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. Restart your Mac, try the Help menu.
If you need help finding that file, hold down the Finder icon in the Dock then click: New Finder Window. From the menu bar top of your screen click: Go > Go to Folder. Type this in exactly as you see it here: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist That will take you right to that file.
(.plist) files stores information about a particular app or in this case, the Help viewer. Often times deleting the .plist file resolves the issue.
It's fine to "unload"... we understand that you expect your iMac to be stable but there are times when things go awry. That's why we have these forums so that you can you get help.

For which browser and version? If Safari, there may be a solution found in the "More Like This" section over in the column on the right side of this website.

So, I have had the Ipod 4th generation for about a year now, and I have never had any trouble adding music onto my ipod until this latest version of itunes came out. Now, I cannot add any more music onto my ipod! I Have grayed out songs that I can't play

So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

So system only check if delete flag(LOEKZ) is set to the EKKO(Header).
I guess you are only set the delete flag only for item level.(EKPO-LOEKZ).
Regret to say, EKKO-LOEKZ is not set automatically even if you set EKPO-LOEKZ with items.One of the reason, I think, is delete flag for item is not
always deleted of whole purchase order.(ex, there are 3 item and 2 of them are
deleted but 1 item is active,in that case, PO is active.)
Even if you set delete flag for all item, in standard function, EKKO-LOEKZ is not set.*How to set EKKO-LOEKZ is run archiving job.(Set delete flag).
As a result, in standard function, there are no way to exclude the PO with delete flag only with item level.
If you strongly hope this function, how about to copy the report RM06ENDR_ALV and change the coding like "If delete flag is set for all item, delete the po from internal table xekkona etc...

X301 and docking support

Hi,
does the x301 support any kind of docking stations, as a docking/port replicator is mentioned.
If not, is there any linux support for DisplayLlink?

the X300 and X301 can use the enhanced USB port replicator. there are no provisions for a dedicated dock like found on the other X-series thinkpads.
regarding displaylink support under linux, it doesn't appear that drivers have been made available yet on their site. only drivers for XP/vista and beta drivers for OS-X are listed.

My mac firefox toolbar and dock have dissapeared when I click on firefox

Something happened in which both my dock and toolbar at the very top that allows me to view history, bookmarks, tools etc. see the time (File, Edit, Tools,etc) dissapears when I click on firefox. This does not happen in other browsers. How can I fix this. I have a mac with snow leopard.

It resolved itself, it stopped responding and then I force quit and restarted it.

X301 and ubuntu, or RHEL 5x

Hello, a quick search does not return much about linux on x301, so I am going ahead and ask.
I am pondering about purchasing a x301, and I am somewhat concerned by the few reports
found online, that would seem to suggest that there are a handful of issues, and in general
it would seem necessary to go "bleeding edge" on linux.
Some complains about the ALPS touchpad, many about wifi, even wired ethernet.
Ideally I'd like to be able to run RedHat EL.
Supposedly the x301 is "certified" to work with it, check this and this (@lenovo itself).
Does anybody have any good report, or knowledge about my question?

from my 5 minutes of research, RHEL 5.2 has kernel 2.6.18 which got released at september 2006 and updated to 2.6.18.8 at february 2007. RHEL likes to freeze the kernel version for a long time for stability purposes. Remember, RHEL is intended for servers mostly. It is the same main kernel release that Debian Etch uses. Your x301 is a GM45 chipset (like my sl300), which came out this summer in 2008. All the kinks have still not been worked out on this chipset platform in even the most bleeding edge distributions (which employ linux kernel 2.6.27). It most definitely will fail or be troublesome to get working as the developers didn't know much about the hardware at the time RHEL 5 was released. you might get by using an fbdev X driver... then you still have to worry about stuff like ethernet and wireless lan.
If you really need it, I think virtualization with something like virtualbox is your only hope, and I wouldn't attempt to get such an old os running natively on such a new box. To make it work, you'd probably have to recompile your own kernel or install fedora rpms for kernel, Xorg and drivers and such. It'd definitely be a hassle. don't do it.
Vbox from windows is pretty easy... you could get the setup done in like 5 mins... and then you install RHEL from an iso image or cd just like a normal machine. Plenty of documentation online, and you won't have to worry about stuff like wireless.

So I ordered a sim card kit and go phone plan. And I never receive any email about my order numbers and new phone number. I thought my order didn't went through. So I checked my bank statement saying at&t took out the amount I paid for the stuff I bought. But where are my order number? And when I called customer service, they put me on hold for over 20 minutes. Firefox reduces the font sizes on Yahoo mail to a very small unreadable font size and i have tried the suggestions in help. Explorer does not do this. What should i try other than using Explorer

This problem started about two months ago and I have been using Explorer to access e-mail. I have downloaded all updates and just downloaded 4.01. When trying to view Yahoo mail, all the fonts on the page are very small and I can not adjust the font size. It is so small I can hardly read it. Other pages are fine.

I am just about to order quite an expensive 92 page large size book in Aperture & have used the Preview button and on viewing the book in the PDF using the 2 up continuous viewing mode I find that the page arrangement is all wrong with double page spreads now on separate pages and all my carefully designed pages in the wrong places. How did you create the preview of the book? It will look exactly like shown, when you press "Buy Book", then "Preview Book". This will open the Preview of you book in the "Preview" application. Set this to "Two-page mode". Then you should be able to see your double page spreads correctly, like here:
