About to put EHP4 onto ECC 6 - are EHP's for other SAP systems required?

Hi All,
In our landscape we have ECC 6, Solution Manager, SRM, BI and Portal. we are about to start a project to put EHP4 onto the ECC 6 system, as a pre-requisite to this we are also putting EHP1 onto our Solution Manager system.
I have been told that we may also need to put EHP's onto all the other systems in our environment, does anyone else know if this is necessary as I assumed that the systems would still be compatable without the EHP's on SRM, BI and the Portal.

It is not required, but I would recommend it.
I just upgraded to EHP4 in ECC and also applied EHP1 to Solution Manager, XI, BI, and the Portal. This client is still using SRM 5.5 so we just applied Support Packages to it. The systems will still be compatible if you leave them alone, though there may be a few notes that have to be applied for some functionality. But since you are already going to have a maintenance window for ECC, you may as well upgrade the auxiliary systems while you are at it. If it is anything lik ethis environment, the other systems can be upgraded during wait times for the larger ECC system.
We also encountered very few issues related to applying the enhancement packages, so testing was very smooth.

Thank you very much for your answer! I have 2 Apple ID, and I have tried both of them and the problem continues. I founf several peolpe with the same problem in apple communities foruns and that really seems that there is some problem. I addded the links for 2 of those discussions.

What are the Essentials for a Sap Security Consultant.

Hi Gurus,
I have completed a Implementation in which I alone handled the entire Security . It is a defense client .
Now I am technically expert at security. But I have no functional knowledge.
Implementing Security in SAP one needs to have knowledge of funtional process as well. The course that are purely technical stuff and I have good idea of techincal stuff.
The Question is what is a Sap Security Consultant expected to know . And how to go about acquiring that knowledge?

There is a little bit of release-dependent-everything in this thread: Authorization for VAP2 in conflict with VD02 for F_KNA1_GRP
Try solve it and you will understand that you need the requirements (without that you are anyway doomed) and the knowledge and the appropriate access to create / test it.
BAPI's are remote enabled stable interfaces to SAP standard functionality. They are the best examples of combining functional, technical and standard skills in a sustainable way without creating a mess (a mess, way beyond the bounds of your concerns...).
If you learn to use the available tools and information sources, then you dont need to stress about the essentials, even if your customer makes a design error before or after your advice.

How to INSTALL SAP ECC 6 EHP 4 IN SUSE 11

INITIALLY WE HAVE SAP ECC 6 EHP 4 FOR SUSE 10 SP2. ALL THING ARE GOING WELL.
BUT NOW WE ARE MOVING TOWARD TO UPGRADE HARDWARE AS WELL AS OPERATING SYSTEM.
SO WE ARE GOING TO UPGRADE EXISTING SAP ECC6 EHP4 INSTALLATION IN SUSE 11.
SUSE 11 HAVE SAPCONF FILE AND SUSE 10 HAVE SAPINIT FILE.
WHEN I AM TRYING TO INSTALL SAP ECC6 EHP4 IN SUSE 11 SP2, THEN I GOT THE ERROR .
PATTERN: SAP-SERVER-11- 38.39.11X 86-64 REQUIRE SAPCONF BUT THIS REQUIREMENT CAN NOT BE PROVIDED.
PLEASE HELP ME IN THIS REGARDS

DB13 on distributed system ECC 6 EHP 4 Solaris - Oracle error

Dear all,
I have a new ECC 6 EHP 4 ABAP only distributed system installation on Solaris 10- Oracle 10 platform. Kernel version 7.01.
Let call application/CI hostname = apphost
and DB Instance hostname = dbhost
I tried to set up DBA job (checkdb, update statistic, backup) via DB13, but its always end with error like this:
Can't exec external program (No such file or directory)
External program terminated with exit code 1.
RFC SAPXPG_DBDDEST_dbhost settings are like this:
Program : /sapmnt/KCP/exe/sapxpg
Target host: dbhost
Gateway host: apphost
Gateway service: sapgwxx
I have set rhosts on both server already.
Shell : sh
Looks like it cannot find executable program when try to do it remotely.
Please help..

I tried to follow this Note 1025707 - DBA Cockpit planning calendar and remote Oracle databases and tried to set up the scenario using rsh.
I copied all brtools files to home dir of <sid>adm on dbhost and tried again on DB13.
It can find the br*tools executables but now it show error :
BR0152E Environment variable ORACLE_SID is not set
So i got a clue for this error. I think since it was run on rsh, the environment variables weren't loaded for the rsh session.
Still searching to load this Environment variable on the rsh session.

Service desk for non-sap (please - any inputs are welcome)

hi all,,
I know how to setup service desk for SAP use. Can some one provide me some tips on using solution manager - service desk for non-sap as well? eg: the company wants to use service desk for normal activities as well, as laptop not working, server down, other system issues etc.
The questions I have are -
1) Any specific structure to be created for the non-sap? The way we use in SAP specific environment is to use "SAP Components" while creating tickets. How can we create tickets for non-sap components? What will be the "responsibility" selection?
2) How about the Ibase? For SAP, the ibase already have the data from SMSY. How can I get data for non-sap systems? Anything is SAP to keep the Asset management data (like entries of laptops, servers etc)

Where are BW Datasources physically/actually stored in the SAP system

Hi,
We are making some changes which are to be moved to the BI production system.
There are a couple of concerns which have arised.
So we need to know where all the changes including CMOD changes, SAP notes and BW Datasources are physically stored in the SAP systems.
As far as I understand these changes should be part of the SAP database.
Is that right or is any part of this stored in any filesystem?

I Can't Put Songs Onto My iPod Touch!

whenever i go onto iTunes and try to put songs onto my iPod using the click and drag method i get this message - 'the iPod "George's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to'. What can i do? Please, anyone, even a guess will do...
By the way i have the latest version of iTunes and the latest system thing on my Touch.

I have seen this article listed on many requests for help. I have tried these fixes but the iTouch will get about 200 songs into the sync and then will give the same message. I have successfully synced the iTouch to my laptop (Vista system)but that is not the primary computer for the touch. Are there any other ideas/solutions?
