About Vertical Split view

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/extend/WS23C565C5-70C6-45fa-841B-D18549492298.h tml

My Dreamweaver CS5.5  has this feature stuck.  I click the split button and it does not want to go to that mode, not even through the top navigation.  Should I re-install the whole program? Help I use that feature all the time.

    you are right
But it is hard to describe conditions precisely.
I know that doesn't happen every time when I do vertical split
I know that occurs on Gvim 7.2.2 fc5, kde (don't remember version)
    Gvim 7.2.26 Ubuntu 8.1 kde 4.1.2
But now I am running  (for 1,5 days)
Gvim 7.2.26 Ubuntu 8.1 xfce 4.4.2 (plasmoid in kde was annoying me) and bug still doesn't occurs.
So, is it connected with kde or I was just lucky?
No problems here running on Gnome. It is kind of weird because on KDE 4.1.3 and fluxbox it happened :S
    Damnshock
Well...that's really strange. So my guess was wrong. It depends in some way on the window manager used.
    Gvim vsplit bug occurs on:
    openbox
    awesome
    fluxbox
    kde 4.1
Gvim vsplit does not occurs on:
    Gnome 2.24 guess
    xfce xfce 4.4.2
    Any other?

  • Thumbnail Size in Split View Mode

Anyone figure out how to adjust the size of thumbnails when in Split View mode? I can't seem to figure out how. I like a vertical split view and it only shows three thumbnails. Boo-urns.

Make sure your in grid view (control-g), not filmstrip or list. There should be a slider on the bottom of the browser. Or use the shift+bracket keys.

  • Split View: Should be easy but...

Ok. So I have a Split View. It looks a bit like this:
    Split View
    - Tab View
    - Scroll View (Text View)
A vertical Split view displaying two things: the Tab View on the left, the Text View on the Right.
    I want to change this.
Is there any way of switching the sides? Making the Tab View go to the right and the Text View to the left? and once my app is compiled, is there any property/method/code that would allow the user to change this at runtime?
    Thank you a lot!

To switch the sides in Interface Builder, the easiest thing to do is unembed the views from the split view, move the views, and embed them in a split view.
    1. Select the two views in Interface Builder.
    2. Choose Layout > Unembed Objects.
    3. Move the views.
    4. Select the two views a second time.
    5. Choose Layout > Embed Objects In > Split View.

  • Vertical split screen?

    Greetings,
I have a 30" Dell monitor on my production machine and I
would like to change my split screen view from horizontal to
vertical so I can have my Code on the left and the design on the
    right.
I am using the 30 day trial and will be buying it if I can
make it meet my needs for webdesign.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Stop dreamweaver using split view

    Hi all,
I love the fact that dreamweaver CS4 shows included files such as a style sheet when I open the main HTML file, anyone know how to stop dreamweaver using split view when I click on one of these included files? I never use / like split view.
    Thanks

    That's correct Brad.
Thanks for the tips, especially right clicking to open as a separate file!
I never noticed that it was only splitting the screen when I was in design view.
I do actually use code view more than anything, I write PHP in dreamweaver and that is why I was getting annoyed, sometimes I can have several files included in a single PHP page, and flicking through them was getting annoying if the screen auto split .
I actually discovered vertical split view and I like it a lot! Works really well on my dual monitor setup;code view on the left monitor, design view on the right.
Still think there should be an option to disable auto split.

  • In Dreamweaver 2014.1 how do I get the vertical settings for split view?

In split view, I want the code window to appear left of the design window as I had it set up in the previous version. I cannot find a place in preferences to do that. Help. I like the code window to the left and properties below the design window.

No I cannot. I've tried to drag the coding window and it seems to be immoveable. I read the reference. It does not answer my question nor do any of the linked articles connected to it. I can float the property window and the other windows just fine and move them where I need them, however the code window in split view goes nowhere. When I have multiple file windows open in tabs and drag one of them the code view stuck at the bottom moves with it.

  • Why can't I type more than one space in a split-view in DW

Say, I am an a split view in a Dreamweaver CS5 and I'm typing in the right view (whatever it's called), but for some reason I can't type more than a single space there. Can I disable that?

Thank you, Curtis. One thing that needs to be added to your post is that one has to restart DW for this setting to take effect. (Well, that may be a bug.) But it still doesn't fix the issue (read below.)
As for the other two comments, I hate when people try to pigeonhole something without even trying to understand someone's situation. Did I say that I would be using it for a layout?
Here's why I need it. Say, I'm working on typing a paragraph of text. My preference is to have DW in a split-view, with the HTML being displayed on the left and the "result" view on the right. That view on the right allows me to type in text directly into the page w/o worrying about HTML semantics -- very handy feature, except one little detail. Say, I have the following snippet of text, "This is some sample text" and I want to edit out the word "some" with the phrase "very important". So I highlight the word "some" and begin typing. Everything goes well when I finish typing "very", but as soon as I put a space to begin typing the word "important", something in DW makes the resulting phrase to look like this: "This is very importantsample text" Notice that the space after "important" was removed. You see, I'm not used to adding spaces after each of my edits (and that is how 99% of word processors work in the world) so my documents started to miss spaces and it took me awhile to figure out why. I was truly hoping that Curtis' suggestion would fix the issue, but even though I can add more than a single space, DW still removes spaces for me automatically, like I just explained above.

  • Magin change moving from Design to Split views

For some reason, the margins of my HTML page change when I
move from split view to design view. The page is a single table,
centered with <center>, but when I change views, they whole
thing shifts over by 19 pixels, from being centered starting at 309
to being centered starting at 328.
What the heck!?? Anyone know what might be causing
    this?

    Appearance of a vertical scrollbar?

  • Can't split code/design horizontally - stuck in vertical split

I thought horizontal tiling was the default for the split view, but it's putting the windows one on top of the other, and the View menu doesn't have an option for horizontal split. What am I doing wrong?

Go to View and un-check "Split Vertically" if it's checked.

  • Aperture Split View Misbehaving

The vertical photos in the split view bar have all switched from being displayed vertically/normally to being rotated and showing "squashed". They only do it with photos imported from my Sony DSV-HX5V, not iPhone or other cameras. Any ideas?

    A few simple things first:
    - Does the problem persist after closing and re-opening Aperture?
    - Are they distorted in Grid view?
    - In Split view, does changing from Filmstrip to Grid (still in Split view) correct the distortion? Does changing the size of the Previews in the Split view grid (use the slider) correct them?
    - What happens when you select one Preview, and select "Update Preview" from the context-sensitive menu?

  • Aperture Split View Problem

The vertical photos in the split view bar at the bottom have all switched from being displayed normally to being rotated and showing squashed and distorted.
I have tried to close and re-open Aperture, and I have also restarted the computer.  The pictures are distorted whther they are in the Grid view or Filmstrip.  I also tried to "Update Preview", but it tells me that it is up to date. The horizontal/landscape pictures are showing fine, the problem is only with the vertical/portrait pictures in the Split view.

Select all the ones in one Project and run "Photos→Generate Preview".  Does that work?
"Update Preview" changes to "Generate Preview" when "{Alt}" is pressed.

  • Split view of table so top rows & bottom rows can be viewed simultaneously

I sometimes work with large tables (thousands of rows) and need to be able to see what's in the top few rows and bottom rows at the same time. This is easy in Excel; there's a gizmo at the top of the vertical scroll bar that can be used to give a split view. I'm a newcomer to Numbers and have not yet found a way to do this. Any ideas, or is it simply not possible?

I know this isn't a great solution but if you really really need to see part of the top and part of the bottom of the spreadsheet at the same time, you can hide the rows in between and unhide them when you're done
Another, maybe better but still not so great way would be to use the filters in the reorganize panel:
Add a new column. In that column, put a character (a dash, letter, etc) in the rows you want to be visible. In the reorganize panel, make a filter to show only rows that are non-blank in that column. You can quickly switch the filter on and off from here.
Neither solution is very dynamic (you can't scroll through the bottom half of the spreadsheet while still looking at the top) but it may help if you are messing with only a few rows at a time.
Lastly, if the top rows you need to see are header rows, you can freeze them. That's similar to the split view in Excel but can only be done for headers (of which 5 is the max).

  • DW CS5 - Split View annoyance

    Hello, everyone.
For some reason, my DW has "Split Vertically" default selected every time DW loads.  When I want to split view, it's always initially vertically split.
This is annoying me.  I would like for the split to be horizontal, always, and if I want a vertical split THEN I'll choose it.
Can anyone tell me how to turn off the default setting for Vertical Split??
    Thank you,
    ^_^

    WolfShade wrote:
Is there a reghack that I can do to turn this default to off???
    YES, THERE IS!!!
As always, the usual cautionary warning to back up your registry before making any edits to it.  The registry can really screw your day if you edit the wrong thing.
    Close DreamWeaver, if open.
Click on Start > Run, and enter regedit in the field and hit ENTER.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Dreamweaver CSx > Settings (where x is the version of DW you have installed).
In the right pane, locate SplitViewOrientation and double click it.
Change the value from vertical to horizontal, save, exit regedit.  Open DW, open a file, click on VIEW, and "Split Vertically" will not be checked.

  • Split view default

I have posted an "Idea" about how a server-side page should be opened. Please cast your vote.
In my opinion, it should work as it always has - it opens in whatever you had last selected. But if forced to choose one, I would say SPLIT VIEW.

    Done.
For those that have issues with the forum navigation, it's here: Split view default
