About Word 8 and importing into InDesign

Hi,
I have been using Word 8 to write the first draft of a book which I then "place" into Indesign for more elaborate page work.
There is one thing that does not work well for me and perhaps there is a solution to that,
Here it is:
In the work I have a rather large number of images with text wrapping neatly around them.
When I import them they all break and there is no more wrapped text.
I know how to fix this manually but there might be a way of avoiding this.  Do you know of any?
Perhaps there is one set of text wrapping which works well for both programs?

The way that word wrap and image-positioning works in Word is so different from the way that it works in InDesign that the image wraps will never be identical if all you're doing is placing the Word file.
In the translation firm where I work, I've placed thousands of Word files into InDesign. I've handled every single kind of Word formatting that there is. Maybe I can help you figure out how to change your Word file structure to improve the import, but not unless I know exactly what you're doing. There are third-party tools that let you roundtrip text back and forth from Word to Indesign and back; maybe something like that would help you out.
But if what you're trying to do is "I made it look the way I want in Word, and now I want it to look exactly the same in InDesign," then the answer is Never In This World.
