SAP Business Workflow can be used to define business processes that are not yet mapped in the R/3 System. These may be simple release or approval procedures, or more complex business processes such as creating a material master and the associated coordination of the departments involved. SAP Business Workflow is particularly suitable for situations in which work processes have to be run through repeatedly, or situations in which the business process requires the involvement of a large number of agents in a specific sequence.
    Features
SAP Business Workflow provides a number of tools for defining and analyzing workflows as well as for monitoring operation.
The Workflow Builder is for displaying and making changes to workflows. You can make small extensions directly to the original workflows supplied by SAP, such as carrying out your own agent assignments or changing deadline monitoring.
There are several Workflow Wizards to support you in the definition of workflows, with which you can create specific parts of a workflow. The Workflow Wizard Explorer gives you an overview of the existing Workflow Wizards.
In order to make the functions of the R/3 Systems available to a workflow, you use business objects, which you can define and analyze in the Business Object Builder. These business objects are made available to the workflow in reusable tasks. The Business Wizard Explorer gives you an overview of all existing tasks.
You can also use SAP Business Workflow to respond to errors and exceptions in other, existing business processes. You can start a workflow when predefined events occur, for example an event can be triggered if particular errors are found during an automatic check.

  • About workflow problem in 4.6C for PR

    Hello Expert:
i met a quesiton about the workflow for PR in 4.6C.
    the detail is as following.
The requestor created a PR for waiting for approve, there are 3 approvor to handle the PR.
maybe the second approvor modified the quantity or amount of the PR before release, but system seems can't trigger the new workflow to go back to first approver in 4.6C. So once the second approvor released the modified PR, then the PR will go to next approver.  Now my requirement is to hope the workflow can get back to start point for waiting for approval. or could i close the PR completely.
even i am cancelled the PR, the purchasing group can generate new PO with the cancelled PR as well.
Did you face the same problem in 4.6C workflow?
    hope to get your help
    Thanks in advance
    Kevin

    Hello Kevin,
you can find this setting in the customizing tree:
I assume that you're using purchase requisition item based released based on classification
MM>Purch.>Req>Rel.Proc.>with class. -->Set up procedure with classification
    Push "Release indicator"
Select the release indicator that blocks your PO (e.g. X blocked)
Using the SAP Standard only you have the following two choices that makes the most sense:
    - Changebility = 1  i.e. cannot be changed
    - Changebility = 4 and Value change = 0,00   i.e. changeable and new release on value change
The first option locks the requisition for any changes at all, forcing your purchasing group to re-create the PR once it should be changed.
The second option allows any change, but when the value is touched in any way (+/- 0%) all previously given release codes will be reset making the release all-over again.
I tip that the second option is the one you're looking for.
If both option are not workable for your requirement, you have to create an additional event (as one of the previous contributors Aditya already mentioned), which could be restricted to the fields that you want your requisition to reset with.
Then you have to throw in an event coupling where you use as a receiver event function module a custom-made function module that runs through the release codes of the requisition to reset all releases. This is done using the function module BAPI_REQUISITION_RESET_RELEASE. If you're choosing this way, I propose that you go a bit forward and open a new thread. But I remember that I was proposing this solution a couple of months ago. So maybe searching the forum could be a good idea then.
    With the very best wishes,
       Florin
Edited by: Florin Wach on Mar 4, 2009 6:03 PM:   The proposed paths also apply to all versions >= 4.6B

  • Please help me about Workflow

sir/mam,i am new for workflow, will any one give me guidence for how i will start with workflow ..please help me about this topic....?

    Somnath,
Your question is very vague.  What do you mean by new to Workflow?
    Workflow can be defined as
A workflow is a reliably repeatable pattern of activity enabled by a systematic organization of resources, defined roles and mass, energy and information flows, into a work process that can be documented and learned. Workflows are always designed to achieve processing intents of some sort, such as physical transformation, service provision, or information processing.
Workflows are closely related to other concepts used to describe organizational structure, such as silos, functions, teams, projects, policies and hierarchies. Workflows may be viewed as one primitive building block of organizations. The relationships among these concepts are described later in this entry.

  • High-level info about "workflow" in WLI

I'm looking for some high-level information about how WebLogic or WebLogic Integration
implements "workflow" functionality. I'm starting to pore through the WLI documentation,
but I'm having trouble finding concise high-level statements that talk about how
WLI supports or implements "workflow" functionality. Could someone point me to
a documentation roadmap that spells out these features?

You have to implement the method "applicationShouldOpenUntitledFile:" to respond "NO" in the Application delegate (see NSApplication class reference).
The MyDocument nib is loaded by the default NSDocumentController of the Application which is send a "newDocument:" message at startup.

  • Your opinions about workflow

Final Cut Pro is a relatively flexible application with many ways to get to the same outcome. I was just wondering how some of you go about setting up a large project.
For instance I have one where I have about 10 hours of raw footage.
I've set up lots of bins for the various shots and within the bins, I have numerous clips.
I created the clips by opening the tape in the viewer, setting in and out points, then dragging the clip into the particular bin.
then broke the timeline down into several different sequences so I don't have to work on the whole thing at once.
so everything was going great until I realized that the clips are only "references" -- when I try to fit them into the timeline and further adjusted the clip, the clip reference within the bin changes.
so if you have shot notes etc. they become inaccurate when the clips are varied.
okay lets say one shot has +"Jane getting in her car, driving out of the parking lot, all the way back to her house"+.
from all that footage, I created a clip that just shows Jane driving on the highway.
my notes to that clip within the bin have the above explanation (in quotes) but the clip is now just "Jane driving on the highway"
do you guys handle this any differently?
    best, M/

    M-323 wrote:
so is there anyway to keep the (sub)clips intact in the browser?
Yes, by making them subclips, not just marked sections of a master clip.
The 'correct' procedure would be to mark you subclips in the viewer, making subclips of them by using command+U or the menu command. When you want to edit and you load these subclips in to the viewer and mark new ins and outs these ins and outs will be reflected in the browser but as the subclip will only show the duration of your original subclip you still 'see', and have access to, the shots that your notes refer to and only those shots.
but as I'm going along using those clips, when I fine tune them, the reference in the browser gets readjusted.
Well, if you load the clip into the viewer, mark a new in and out then you've changed the in/out for that clip, so of course the browser will reflect that.
at least if the in and out points would stay the same in the browser, that would be helpful.
That's not possible in any NLE. The media limits can be set, so that only a selected portion is visible when loaded into the viewer, and those will not change regardless of ins/out used. You do this by using the subclip command or capturing your shots individually in the first place. You can move the in and out, but the available material will always be the portion you selected when you subclipped it.

  • Question about Workflow between Premiere and After Effects

Hey guys, I have Production Premium CS5 (Premiere and AE)
One thing that has always confused me was basic workflow between these 2 products.  Is it best to get your clips, but them into sequence, do the basic effects that Premiere supports and output into the  highest quality video in order to take into AE and apply effects to?
Or should I take video footage, do my After Effects work, export that as a clip that will then be used in the video composition in Premiere?  I know I don't want to move a project too many times between because of compression, so what would the most optimized workflow be?
FYI, I am doing a lot of video game frag movies, so I have a lot of effects I like to put into it.

    Really?
I'm always amazed at Photoshop's cold boot startup time. On my rig it takes 8 seconds.  From a warm boot, Photoshop will start in 2-4 seconds.
This isn't the case with my video editing software though...
Sony Vegas 8.1 (looking to learn Premiere so I don't need this anymore - Cold Boot : 8 seconds, Warm Boot : 3 seconds)
After Effects (Cold Boot : 22 seconds, Warm Boot : 8 seconds)
Premiere (Cold Boot : 48 seconds, Warm Boot : 16 seconds)
Premiere seems to be a beast of a program; I'm rather surprised, I thought AE would be the more intense one.  Sorry, I haven't yet overcome my fears of losing projects/data because I'm running on a Windows machine.
It's half the reason why I have a Mozy account to backup my files to an online resource.

  • A book about SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows?

    Hi everyone
Can anybody of you recommend me a book about SharePoint Designer 2010 Workflows?
    Thank you in advance

How about "Beginning SharePoint Designer 2010"? However, only two chapters are about workflows.

  • Workflow without 'save as' and huge storage consumption.

I use Aperture & photoshp daily. Aperture no longer has 'save as' .. Photoshop hasn't, as yet followe suit, I am told. Very concerned about workflow changes incurring more complexity, more steps and hughe storage waste.
Current work flow: I open one of the apps, then an image, initiate a bunch of edits, 'save as' my final desired result. I now have 2 files, the UNTOUCHED original and the edited second image.
Several calls to Apple. They are not sure how the missing 'save as' works into this work flow, do not know how many more steps will be needed and how mush more complex. They did say, for the first time, now you have to check out each program to see how it's 'save as' concept will work... I guess and try to remember them all. WOW!
Also, with the 'versions' concept and processing raw images, instead of 2 files residing in memory at the end of the multiple edits, there will be a version for each edit step meaning there could be like 20, 50, even more huge files ... not wanted, not needed but consuming huge amounts of storage.
It was finally decided there had to be a way to purge all those unnecessary files to win back storage space. More work and how?
Their final assessment, you may not be able to proceed with Lion... with the future Mac's ongoing OS. I guess all photographers are at a loss then. Sad.
Is this hopefully just a bad dream??

The new Autosave/Versions paradigm is ideal for the situation you describe as “Current work flow”. It’s not a bit more complicated, it’s safer, and — if you can get past the fact that it is different from what you are used to — it is more logical. What you are doing is creating a new, modified copy of the original. So, open the original and Duplicate (File > Duplicate). That creates a new copy that you can edit, but it is treated like a new file, so when you close it, you get a Save As dialog. Or you can save it manually at any time just like any new file. No extra steps — just Duplicate at the beginning instead of Save As at the end.
I said it is safer. Consider the following: In your current work flow: by accident or absent mindedness, you mistakenly Save rather than Save As. Now your original is clobbered. Of course, if you are smart, you have a backup. Otherwise it is gone. In the new workflow you might forget to duplicate at the beginning. But it’s not too late! Go ahead and duplicate later. When you duplicate an edited file you get a dialog asking what to do with the original. The choices are to leave it in its edited state or to revert to its original state. Even if you close the file without duplicating it, you can still re-open it and revert using Versions.
As Pondini pointed out, you misunderstand how versions work. Versions are not files. It is more like a super sophisticated Undo. As you edit a file, only the latest version is saved in the file. Enough information to reconstruct intermediate versions is saved in a hidden versions database. So in your scenario, you still have only 2 files plus some information in the database. In general the versions information should be efficiently stored.
This is how Aperture has always worked. As Terence Devlin pointed out, no version of Aperture has ever had a Save or Save As command. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aperture served as an inspiration or testing ground for Autosave/Versions. I am a serious amateur photographer, and I am not the least bit sad. I think this is a great advancement.

  • System Image Utility Workflows

Hello. I am confused about Workflows in System Image Utility. I would like to take my install DVD of 10.5, the new 10.5.8 combo update, iLife 09 & iWork 09 and put them all together into a NetInsall image. To do this I opened System Image Utility and clicked on Customize. I then put in the automator actions.
    Define Image Source
    Add Packages
Add User (add an admin account)
    System Configuration (name the computer)
    Create Image
I ended up with an image that contained iLife, iWork & the 10.5.8 update but it wouldn't install any of them. It did not create a user and did not name the computer.
Is what I want to do even possible with System Image Utility? How is it done?
    Thanks,

First, you need to determine what type of image you wish to end up with. The collection of actions you list appears to indicate that you are trying to make both an install and a restore image.
If you're trying to make a NetInstall image (one that boots into the installer), the "Add User" action won't do anything. If you're trying to create a restore image (one that boots into an installer that does an ASR of a configured volume), you're going to need to look into "InstaDMG". The Leopard System Image Utility doesn't support that workflow.
In the second scenario, the alternative would be to install a volume with all of those applications and then create a NetInstall from that volume.
In the first scenario, you may be running into the pre-install scripts on those packages which are keeping them from being executed.

  • ABAP Objects with Workflows / Classes and Instances

    Hello,
I am currently designing a workflow using an ABAP-Objects. So far I have been been able to get my Workflow to run with my class, but I have a couple of problems:
    - I am using the Function 'SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW' to start other subflows, which enables me to decide which subflow to start at runtime. All of the subflows have standart importing-parameters in their containers, such as the key of my class. In each workflow I instantiate my class using a self-written method, which checks the table T_INSTANCES in my object, and then either returns the object reference to an existing instance or creates a new one. Obviously all of the subflows that I call from my main workflow should be able to find the instance. As far as I can see in their protocolls, this happens without any problems. The problem starts when I make changes to the instance. For example the changing of attributes (with setter methods) seems not to work. After the subflows are finished, in my main workflow, I do not see (with getter methods) any changes that has been made to the object. Is local persistence really limited to one workflow ?
    - My second problem is basically about the workflow container in workflow protocoll. In the same workflow, I can change the attributes of my object. Nevertheless, the protocoll always show the initial attribute, even though, my task with the getter-method returns the new value of the attribute.
I appreciate any help and thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello Pauls,
Thank you for your answer. I think we are misunderstanding each other. The problem occurs (I think) because my class is not a singleton class. Or am I mistaken ?
When I directly start a subflow from my main workflow, then the instance that I have created in my main workflow is also visible to the subflow. As well as the static table which actually keeps track of the instances. So, in this case the subflows finds the instance and then can use the object as is.
When I start a subflow from my main workflow using the function I mentioned above, then even though the same object key is used, there is a new instance. And the static table (I assume that you mean a static variable from type table, when you say "class table") is completely empty. In this case, my "new" instance is created which overwrites every attribute that I have set in the main workflow, before I started the subflow. More interestingly, my main workflow instantiates another new object, as soon as the subflow has finished. (I am using an event to wait for the subflow to finish.)
On the other hand, I am not quite sure that I understood your approach with refresh and how it could help me. This method is not well documented anywhere, and all of the examples that I have found are about "leave it empty"
As far as I understood, this method is called by the workflow between the steps, when an object is used. I slowly start to think that I need advanced information about Workflows and Memory Management.
Thanks a lot again. Apparently, I am the only person who came across such a problem
